[Q] How to recover DInc2 using SD card only? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

My stock Incredible 2 became unresponsive yesterday, getting stuck in shorter and shorter boot loops. After hours reading forum posts on rooting and recovery, pulling and re-pulling the battery, installing ADB, copying RUU files to the SD card, etc., I went to Verizon today and they're shipping me a new Incredible 2 under warranty. So now I have a DInc2 with no warranty issues, but possibly fatal hardware problems or corrupted internal memory (no, I didn't drop it in water, but forums suggest something is wrong with the eMMC).
The facts:
I can get to the HBOOT screen. Details:

On changing options on the HBOOT screen, it says it can't load images for P32DIAG.zip, P32DIAG.nbh, P32IMG.zip, and P32IMG.nbh.
I tried putting an RUU matching the HBOOT & RADIO specs on the SD card as P32IMG.zip but it got stuck on Recovery, step 2 out of about 10.
HBOOT RECOVERY option goes to the red-triangle screen, after which it says
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount DATA (I might have that wrong, it disappears quickly.)
HBOOT FACTORY RESET option does absolutely nothing. Well, it locks up the phone and I have to pull the battery.
It won't mount on my PC. "adb devices" says no devices found, so most root/recovery guides won't work as written.
I hadn't planned on this happening, so USB debugging mode *is not* enabled. Install from unknown sources *is* enabled (I was installing games from the Humble Bundle when things started going pear-shaped).
TLDR: What recovery tools should I try other than the HBOOT method and with access only to the removable SD card?

Unrooting HTC Desire Hboot 0.8 Help

I've read several guides and I've tried several different RUU's

RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
All of them do the same thing, they connect to the phone start loading and when the phone is showing the hTC logo they say waiting for bootloader and then say an error occurred.
Some of the guides say leave the phone on the htc screen and reload the bootloader. The moment I exit the RUU installation the phone reboots to cyanogen mod. I've tried restarting etc.. leaving the phone in and just re-running. No luck, I cannot get the phone to stay on the hTC screen, it always restarts when I exit the program.
Any ideas as the phone needs repairing as the cpu crashes continuously!
Thanks

Which error code occured? CID error? If yes, create a goldcard:
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/
After this, pu this in your desire and flash ruu again:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release (If you want stock froyo)
RUU_Brav2_UK_1.20.207.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06 .00.02_2_release_124865.exe (If you want eclair rom with o2 rom (i guess that was your branding).
I get Error code 171 error connecting via usb. This is when it's just loaded the new bootloader and is sitting on the new htc logo. I then click exit and it throws me back to cyanogen mod.
I have the original gold card in from when I did the root.
Try the RUU on baadnwz.eu/search/label/addons
I've just them before i rooted my phone with Unrevoked

Sounds for me you could have an usb brick. Here is a guide how fix it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
When done, try to flash ruu like before again.
Okay,
I tried the usb brick fix. Made no difference. It was still throwing the 171 error.
I had a look around online and found you can grap the rom.zip file from the temp directory of windows while the RUU is running. I renamed this to PB99IMG.zip and dropped it on the root of the sd card (gold card) and then booted to hboot. This then started to install the new hboot 0.93 and O2 UK Froyo from the
RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32 U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe RUU.
Hope this helps if anyone else is stuck.

The phone is unrooted. This is my sisters phone and I took out the battery without turning off the phone. (I do it all the time with my touchpro2, will never do it again!) I put my SD card in and turned it back on and now it's in a reboot loop. It starts up, shows the white screen with the htc EVO 4G then reboots to the same thing over and over. I could get into the bootloader. I tried all of the options. Recovery just goes to the white screen again with the htc evo 4g logo and starts the reboot loop. I did clear storage, and when it reboots it starts the loop too.
I tried loading the PC36img.zip file to a formatted sd card and the phone reads it but doesnt give me any prompts to install or anything, it just goes to the regular bootloader screen, and recovery still doesn't work. I tried loading some shipped roms but I think Im on the latest rom so it won't let me install any roms because I'm not rooted. I get an error 140 -bootloader version error. What else can I do? I am so stressed over this and my eyes are killing me from all of the seaching. I tried setting up sdk and adb but couldnt get it to work and don't think it would read my phone cause it won't start up to set up the debug mode.

Use 4.65 RUU
Try the latest 4.54 RUU and run it through FASTBOOT USB (click on fastboot with your phone connected to your computer.

okay, I downloaded the latest RUU which is the one I am on now 4.54.651. Ran it and it loaded up and went through the whole process. I got so happy. When it finishes, it reboots and starts the loop again. I also put the correct PC36IMG file on my SD card and it found it and the phone loaded it. But still the same thing. I dunno what to do next. I also tried the UnlockBootloader thing from HTCDEV. But when I get to step 8 to enter the command, the phone gives an error. But the computer finds the phone in fastboot. Now I definitely see why people S-Off their phones
if the phone is under 1 year old then you have the warranty which is still good unless theres water damage or proof of you internally modifying the phone or intentionally broke it physically.. tell them it froze so you pulled the battery and it got in a loop and factory reset doesnt work
Yeah, pretty simple. it's an unrooted phone. Just trade it in
the phone shows water damage even though it works perfectly. From what I read, I think the boot file is corrupted but I can't load a new one. Why is it when I load a factory RUU, it doesnt load the new boot and recovery file to get the phone working again.

When you loaded the factory RUU, it probably did flash a new boot image and the stock recovery (which is useless at this point). The RUU was a last resort (the reason why I said try it), and if it did not fix the issue, then the problem is more likely hardware related.
Is there anything I could do with a program I found online called CDMA workshop. Looks like it has lots of features to work with.
Update: I thought I got it fixed. I downloaded a 4.54 rom from scottsrom.com and put it on a SD card and renamed it PC36IMG. It actually loaded it up this time, then said Parsing... [SD ZIP] and had [1] RADIO_V2
[2] RECOVERY, all the way to [8] SYSTEM. This never happenend before. So I got all happy and it updated all 8. But when it rebooted, it still did the reloop over and over. I got so happy that I finally got it fixed but it didnt do anything. What could it be? If anyone is in Queens, NYC and could fix this for me, I am willing to pay.
At this point, it seems like you have the bad blocks error, which is not fixable

What can I do? Dinc issues

Seeing as this is a old phone, which had to be replaced two times, I figured I may as well do something with it.
Its old, and the issues were so bad, that it just became unusable. I had to pay full price for my new Droid Bionic because this flaming bag of you know what was still under contract. The Dinc only had a 1 year warranty for replacement(I guess?) which had camera issues with the first, and this second had some MAJOR rebooting issues. It got so insanely hot it made the serial number, model number all that, come off the back of it. As I said, I got a new phone which is GREAT.
The issues with this old Dinc is:
1)rebooting loop, it WILL NOT enter the phone menus(main screen, etc). It will stay at the "HTC Incredible" white screen and just self-reboot over and over until it runs out of battery power.
2)I have replaced the battery, it did nothing for it.
3)In the HBoot menu, Factory reset, recovery does nothing(info for all those versions there will be posted later in this post).
4)I have all of the HTC/Android usb drivers installed, it does not pick up anything. No SD cards(if it does at that point?), nothing, but the Hboot menu does say "HBOOT USB" at the top.

was hard to read this small text, but there ya go.
Keep in mind, I CANNOT even get past the "HTC Incredible" white screen too turn on USB debugging. I have tried alot of methods, nothing has seemed to work. I'm starting to think I should have some fun with this thing, take it out back.
Also, I have never rooted, changed roms, flashed or anything to this phone. I don't do that to phones I am using, but seeming as this phone is not being used...why not?
Hmm, that is unusual. Do you think you could download the Froyo RUU under the subheading "Stock Images" from here:
www.pvillecomp.com
and install that via hboot? If this works, you should be able to boot into the phone to begin the rooting process if the phone functions fine.

Connected the phone to the USB cable and I got an error, screenshot attached.
You can access hboot but doing anything via usb cable results in nothing. That said, could you use the bionic or some other phone to place that RUU onto the root of the sd card then place place that sd card back in the Incredible and try installing it the RUU from hboot?
Side question: when you boot into hboot normally, does the incredible check for any files on the sd card like it is supposed to?

The Bionic SD Card thing is a GREAT idea, I will try that. Gees, why didn't I think of that.

To make a long story short, the Dinc is stuck at the Hboot screen. How it got there, not quite sure. Wasn't my phone and am trying to fix it for a friend.
I have a tested working SD card, and tested working USB cable. The phone, when power is pressed - boots to the white HTC screen, then goes blank/black. The phone can get to the bootloader by vol+&power, but when accessing recovery choice, again, white HTC screen then blank/black. I've tried flashing stock with pg32img.zip, but it hangs on recovery (30+ min).
I've tried connecting to PC, and the drivers are properly installed, HTC sync is removed and the device is seen by fastboot; but not adb. In fastboot, regardless of the command, I get an error. Again, any ideas and assistance are welcome.
Thank you,

I am having the same problem today and need help ASAP since this is my only device. Im stuck on the revolutionary exe cmd where it says waiting for fastboot while the phone is stuck on the boot loader.

[Q] Stuck on HTC logo. The phone may be bricked.

Hi there.
The problem is that I can't turn on my phone as it gets stuck no that green HTC logo.
It all started when I installed an app from google market. The phone was restarting every time I launched the app. Eventually it stopped turning on and got stuck. Also, I tried doing hard reset and other things from HBOOT menu, but there's the same problem if I choose anything except recovery— it gets stuck. I searched for the issue on the internet. So, I decided to flash a newROM. I downloaded 2.42.405.4 — Android 2.3 (with root+busybox, installs from Recovery). Renamed it as PC10IMG.zip and put it on a SD card. Then I tried to run a recovery through HBOOT. After few seconds phone with a circle of arrows appeared and phone turned off and did 7 short vibrations. Now, I guess, it's bricked completely as it doesn't respond to my actions at all. Neither the red light in the corner after I connect the phone to computer.
I managed to get some information from HBOOT menu:
Code:
VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF

MICROP-0425

Before the issue I downloaded official 2.3 upgrade.
Some help would be appreciated, thanks
