Ive bricked my gio - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I tried to flash a kernel for my gio, but i mistakely installed an an spica kernel and now when i want to turn it on it shows the samsung logo and it suddenly closes the same with recovery mode but download mode works
what do you think i can do, can i repair it without going to service because my phone is rooted and i lost my warranty

If you cannot boot into recovery mode (which i would think you should be able to), but you can boot into download mode, just flash a new Kernel through ODIN If you dont know how to use ODIN, just hit the search bar or youtube, there is alot of tutorials!

If download mode works flash a stock rom with Odin.

Look on tutorials how to flash a rom with odin. If You can still enter download mode, so can you flash a rom.
Your device is not really bricked, you just cant boot.
For more questions, just ask

I tried to install 2.3.4 but i have the same problem with booting 'ill tr to flash a new kernel using odin tomorrow i will post my result here

Try data/cache wipe after flashing

There arent kernels flashable via odin if im not wrong, atleast not standalone kernels
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium

NOOOOO Never use another Phone's KERNEL!!! I was so scared when I very very Bricked my phone and I had to take it back to the service center...

If u still able get into download mode then ur fine i think...
Flash new rom/custom rom via odin first...
That should fixed ur problem bro...

Dont tell them anything about custom rom , root, kernel, ...
Because that will void your warrently..
you tried to update via kies and while it was installing it lost connection to your phone and your phone couldnt boot anymore.
Something like that, involve KIES, dont involve the kernel mistake, then they or dont repair it or dont do it for free

Well you can't find CWM backups of stock ROMs here. But you can flash a stock ROM via ODIN. Here is a list of ODIN-Flashable stock ROMS uploaded by Doky73.
Visit this thread for info on how to reset the custom bin counter.
yes why not use odin package......... use doky73 odin packages

ummm ya if you want your warrianty back you will haf to reset the custom bin counter, undo root(do the unroot procedure and uninstall any root theings u have), and be on any stock rom in short everytheing has to be official the kernel too even a random theing like changing model number from gt-s5360 to Galaxy could maybe be considerd as voiding -_-
just look in the development section u have everytheing there
..
I know it wont have any insstaller ......

[Q] cmw

hey everyone
is there a way to do all those cool thing you guys talk about WITHOUT using cmw? because my last gio crashed while flashig it with the android third recovery and i had to buy a new one...
what do you want to do? you can't flash custom roms with the stock recovery. you cant do backups. you can only wipe data with the stock recovery (and flash zips)
and btw if you want to flash the cwm recovery DONT use rom manager (or whatever the app is called)
are you sure?
totally brick while u flash CMW??

only way to do this without a mac is to push files through using ADB and flash it old school, i warn you its note for the faint hearted but you are going to need to get a stock boot.img stock recovery.img and a stock rom, get the files on your device and then flash your rom, flash your boot and then flash your revovery.
If your returning this to samsung before you do anything you are going to need to purchase triangle away and reset flash counter aswell.
Tbh your best off borrowing a mates laptop downloading the note 2 toolkit and do it that way but its your phone bro.
Download latest stock rom for your country directly into phone.
Flash it via mobile odin.
If you want to return phone to service center then leave a comment and I will tell you the procedure.

IMO,, wiping as well as formatting operations in cwm isnt necessary,, because,, when you flash a device thru odin,, the phone's cwm recovery,, even your su app,,, will be totally erased,,,
so for me,, just reflash thru odin,, and you're good to go,,,
by the way,, im from the Philippines,, but i've flashed my phone with I8150XXLM8 - Slovakia ,, and after the flashing is complete,, ive felt like im holding a brand new phone,,,
if you like,, you can choose any firmware you like from here,,
but of course,, since its your first time,, choose the one based on your region,,,
to avoid any network conflicts that you might meet ,, when you flash a stock rom other than your region-based ROM,,,,
for malaysia, i'm using i8150DXLM2

Yes, flash the MJ5 bootloader to avoid any problems. And make sure that you have the latest CWM version. I personally recommend TWRP, latest version also. You should be set with that.
