[Q] cmw - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

hey everyone
is there a way to do all those cool thing you guys talk about WITHOUT using cmw? because my last gio crashed while flashig it with the android third recovery and i had to buy a new one...

what do you want to do? you can't flash custom roms with the stock recovery. you cant do backups. you can only wipe data with the stock recovery (and flash zips)
and btw if you want to flash the cwm recovery DONT use rom manager (or whatever the app is called)

are you sure?
totally brick while u flash CMW??

Dude 1 of the most important requirements of rooting and using other custom rom is the CWM!

[Q] Gio AllReset (Nuke?)

Hi! I have a question. Is it possible to make some kind of super reset to Galaxy Gio so it will look like out of the box if i need to take it back to the shop? I hope some one can answer my question.
W/ best,
Jyrx.
Factory reset - resets all to default.
Clear cache, dalvik etc, then flash a stock rom if you have flashd roms before, delete superuser.apk if you had root acces ... Stock rom flash required if you used clockworkmod recovery and custom roms or boot.img..

Yes , if you flash a stock rom via odin, you can see ut also writes recovery.rfs or something like that.

Flash an official firmware by ODIN and your phone will be like first time - Stock Recovery, no root, etc.

[Q] which rom is the best for games

I like to play games on my sgw. But all hd games like temple run six gun fifa 12 seems so laggy. Please help

If you don't need the camera , cm9 or aokp will be the best choice.
If you need , rebel rom is great
I use this rom to play temple run and fifa without lag .

I remember seeing a flashable cwm recovery.
That means you can flash the cwm recovery with the stock recovery.
Let me check out with this ....

Yes you can flash it without cmw, you can use odin instead. After all, even if you flashed it via cwm, you will have to flash cmw again after you successfully flashed your desired rom.
If you want to flash it via cmw, it should be on zip file. Put the zip on your internal memory/sd card. Reboot to cmw and select the zip file. On flashing cmw here's the guide, read it carefully and be sure not to skip anything. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467128
Its all in there. Hope this helps.

And btw I suggest root your wonder first using stock recovery, as I have heard there is a problem rooting wonder using cmw.
Anyways, if youre going to flash a rom, root and cmw will be wiped. So you have to root and flash cmw again after flashing a rom. Just an info.

I already root it. But i want to know how to install cwm with or without odin. Because acro said the best way to flash cynagonmod 9 is by cwm. So how do i install cwm on my phone?

You can install cwm recovery via ODIN. I provided the link on my previous post, it will show you how to flash cmw recovery on your phone.

Here posted again. All needed files are there. Just read it and dont skip any.
Flashing cmw recovery is like flashing a firmware, just follow the steps and you wont have any problem.
Additional info: Before flashing cmw recovery, be sure to enable usb debugging. System>applications>development>usb debugging. Then you can proceed on flashing.

Cannot Flash Custom ROMS on phone

Hi all,
I am new to android as my personal device, but I am familiar with the OS. I am pretty tech-savvy. However, I just rooted my I-747, and no matter how hard I try I cannot flash custom roms through CWM. Keep in mind both ROMS I have tried are CM9 and 10, 10 ending in a status 7 error. 9 might have as well, but I am not sure. I just know that it was aborted. Any help here, I am not sure what is going on? Any advice would be appreciated.
Are you using the correct CWM recovery? I am downloaded rom manager and installed cwm from there, have had no issues with installing either of those roms. Don't forget to do your wipes before you install a new rom!
Hmmm that may be the issue. I rooted without tripping the flash counter and then had to use adb to get cwm working. Is there a way to uninstall it and reinstall it from Rom manager?

You can always try TWRP out as well.
Just push it to the phone via ADB or use a terminal app on the phone.
I like it more than CWM. :good:

Hey codycorexxx.... quick question on that. I have twrp as well...might sound silly...will it restore a CWM backup? I made a copy of my nanorid backup to the twrp folder. It shows up under the restore option when IN that recovery...just wanting to make sure should I need to use that backup....twrp won't have a problem flashing it.

IMO,, wiping as well as formatting operations in cwm isnt necessary,, because,, when you flash a device thru odin,, the phone's cwm recovery,, even your su app,,, will be totally erased,,,
so for me,, just reflash thru odin,, and you're good to go,,,
by the way,, im from the Philippines,, but i've flashed my phone with I8150XXLM8 - Slovakia ,, and after the flashing is complete,, ive felt like im holding a brand new phone,,,
if you like,, you can choose any firmware you like from here,,
but of course,, since its your first time,, choose the one based on your region,,,
to avoid any network conflicts that you might meet ,, when you flash a stock rom other than your region-based ROM,,,,
for malaysia, i'm using i8150DXLM2

[Q] E: signature verification failed - S4 Revolution Rom

Hey guys. I'm trying to flash the S4 Revolution rom on my S3 [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311671]
I downloaded the rom and put it on my sd card. Went into recovery mode and tried to flash the rom. It wiped all my data but didn't flash the rom. Instead it said "E: signature verification failed" and just rebooted and asked me to setup my phone from scratch with the current rom.The rom that I have now is stock rogers rom pre-rooted jellybean 4.1.1.
What am I doing wrong? I've read something about a "clockwork recovery image," what is that? Please help.

It's still under warranty so a replacement phone is being sent to me. But is there any rom for the i747 s3 that can make it more like an s4? That's what I was aiming for.

I can't believe that I actually bricked my phone. I thought that could NEVER happen to me. All I did was go on Google and type is "s4 rom for S3" and I saw a link to the S4 Revolution rom. I just assumed it was for all S3s. There should be some warning... So upset.

A) never assume
B) unfortunately you won't get any sympathy for not reading up first.
That's why ROMs are "flash at your own risk"
Least you won't do it again.

OK. I'm still not sure what that means. But what I did was flash the stock ROM for Rogers 4.1.1 that comes pre-rooted. My next objective is to get the S4 rom on it. I guess I'll just download Rom Manager and install that then save the S4 ROM to the micro sd and flash like that. I wanted to avoid putting it on the micro SD, though.
