I'm using m1ndh4x8r's Rom with Link2Sd with a 1 GB ext4 partition and 512 linux swap partition...
So recently i was running out of space on my phone even with link2sd. So i found a post which tells us to run a command which would free up memory. Well it worked and my internal memory went from 14 MBs to 90+ MB.
When i first ran i got many force closes, but after like 3-4 restarts everything went normal. But this one thing remained. When I installed some new app, it doesn't run and force closes. I have to restart my phone after installing it to get it working again...
Please tell me if there is any solution for this... Is it a bug or something??
More info:
ROM: m1ndh4x8r's 2.1 sense.
SD card and partitions: Kingston 8 GB class 4: 1 GB ext4, 512 linux swap and rest fat32.
My apps are automatically linked when installed. Including davlic cache and all.

you have to tell your phone to move the files to the ext partition
i see you have a rom installed, if you have a superuser app installed (if you dont, download one from play store, i recommend super su) download the link2sd app, choose the apps you want to move (all the ones you wont mind if they go a little slower...) and select create link, that should fix it.
You use Link2Sd or A2SDGUİ .
my guess is that a2sd isn't installed correctly in your case or maybe your ext partition isn't big enough
if you are using cm9 or 10 or aokp michie(hope i spelled that right) made a a2sd cwm flashable zip and some other:swap, softkeys
those will work 100%
Today I have downloaded DiskInfo app and it says Note 2 has 1.3Gb of cache partition, 2Gb of /System 10.5Gb of /Data partition.. When added together it is 13.8 Gb.. However 16Gb claimed memory is 14.9 Gb normally. So 1 Gb is missing.
Does anyone know what is the proper partitioning/foldering/indexing (whatever it is called in Linux world) of and average (or say Note 2) Android phone and what they stand for? So far I know
/system is for installing the ROM itself, it is read only and 2Gb allocated for Note 2
/data (including /data/media which is for user objects like mp3s or videos or anything) is for the user and the apps to be installed.. Usually the rest of the memory after taking necessary other parts, is used as /data
/preload I don't know if this is seperate partition or just a sub-folder of some other partition. But it contains the videos and pics of Sammy ROMs. No idea about the size..
/cache? It is 1.3gb..But why?
I got this from sdmaid app. This may help you. :what:

You can find some answers on this page.
The size of /cache partition should depend on the number of apps / files you have/use.
How much space do you actually have available to install apps? My Epic 4G Touch is also 16GB, but I have very little actual room to install apps. I have moved as much as I can to the external SD card as well. I am still in a constant battle for space. When updating apps I often get the message saying it doesn't have enough space. I'd hate to buy a tablet for my son, only to find out I can't install but a small handful of games before running out of room.
I've only installed a couple apps ( no games yet ) and I have 9.76gb available so far

Is it formatted so all the space is together, or is is separated into USB storage and Device Memory like my phone? For example on my phone, although I have a total of 13 GB free only 2GB are available for installing apps. After installing 1.45 GB of apps I only have 256 MB left for updating apps. Even though most downloads are smaller than that I still get issues upgrading some of them.
I'm thinking it's all together, here is what I see

Hello,
Never had any issues with my G3 in the year ive had it until now!
Basically I've checked my storage as my 16gb internal seemed to be incredibly low (especially since I store everything on my SD), I then realised I had a huge 8gb +/- taken up under Misc - system data. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to reduce this size.
On Samsung phones you can enter the hidden menu and wipe dumpstates and logcats but cant find the option on my d855 hidden menu.
I've flashed a bunch of ROMs and done resets etc but the problem persists. Any help would be great.
Using apps like System Cleaner etc etc DO NOT do anything as the problem lies in system data.
Thanks
Curtis

UPDATE
I've managed to improve my situation by doing the following;
Deleted the 'Facebook.orca' folder from my internal sd (That was a massive 4gb- but for some reason didn't come up under app data etc)
Installed FolderMount and linked my DCIM/Picture folders to my SD to give me an extra 1.5gb of internal space.
good day guys,,
the problem is like that,,, obviously the system is counting the space that is consumed by the application i've had installed on it, wrong, cause i'm very sure that it can't never occupies that much the system analysis is telling me,
i calculated the size of all the applications on my device it turned out to be around 9 GB
yet the System counting it for about 10.82 GB
= 1.82 gb is like geny in the air, i can't find it
2nd, i think the device is giving these applications wrong size any way,
so,, there most be something wrong with the system reading to the memory or the applications space,
1- i formatted the the memory through the reset factory function
2- wiped the memory through the recovery
3- re installed fresh official room by the oden,
yet still the same !!
what do you think guys,
screen shot & device information attached for your reference
