Hello,
I am new to the Galaxy Nexus and 4.0. I traded for a Nexus and it appears to be a unlocked engineering model currently running 4.0.1
I flashed the newest version of clockwork recovery on and see that the new 4.0.4 for GSM was released today. I am reading a lot of back and forth regarding the compatibility of the release so I figured I would check here before I dig in.
Am I able to simply put the 4.0.4 GSM release on my SD and wipe/flash using Clockwork install from zip? or is there something I am missing.
I don't care about losing all my data. I would appreciate any help guys!
Model Number: Galaxy Nexus (ENGINEERING)
Android Version: 4.0.1
Baseband version: I9250UGKKA
Kernel version: 3.0.1-ga052f63

Build number: ITL41F.I9250UGKKA
the 4.0.4 OTA is a upgrade from 4.0.2. you need 4.0.2 as a prequisite and its for "yakju" devices, verify if your device is 'yakju' it says Galaxy Nexus but 'yakjuxw' has Galaxy Nexus.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImRlLmNicnVlZ2cub2ZmaWNpYWx1cGRhdGUiXQ.. use that to check.
thanks for the quick reply. Where do I find if this is YAKJU or not, bootloader?

edit: lol you insulted yourself
Looks like I am on yakjuux. Am I able to move to jakju 4.0.2 and then update to 4.0.4?
Sorry for the back and forth I just need to get the various version straight before I start going crazy flashing

Would you mind doing a couple of things before you flash anything please?
1) Could you check the version of your bootloader? Reboot into the bootloader and read it from there. If you have an engineering version, I'd REALLY appreciate a dump before you flash anything over it.
2) Could you dump your radio? If you don't know how to do it, I can guide you through it. You need root.
We haven't been able to get ahold of any engineering bootloaders/radios yet, and it seems you lucked out.
It would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks.
Any news? Can you dump your radio and bootloader for us?

I bought a galaxy nexus from newegg and checked the version to be Yakjuzs. It loads an Asian language by default when the phone is switched on for the first time
I still have the 4.0.1
Basebad Version - I9250XXKK1
Build Number - ITL41F.I9250ZSKKB
Has anybody with similar specifications received the 4.0.2 update?
I do the *#*#2432546#*#* several times a day but no luck!
I'm currently using the phone only on WiFi and without a SIM card.
same build, no update
I'm considering switching to yakju build
Still haven't rooted a Nexus phone?

Even yakju is still only on 4.0.2 where as other phones and tablets are on much newer builds namely Nexus S and Galaxy Tab..
I think google forgot about their flagship phone already lol.

I doubt it. The 4.0.3 update isn't large enough for a large scale deployment, but really...buying a Nexus phone and not rooting it is like buying a Ferrari but only going 20MPH..
odd, my yakjuzs nexus came with 4.0.2 and baseband version - I9250XXKK6 out of the box, meaning there is actually an upgrade out there i guess.
IMO 4.0.2 is not worth it, neither is waiting for the official 4.0.3 roll out - you're better off sparing yourself the wait unlocking/rooting then flashing a custom 4.0.3 rom. the difference is so huge that it's embarrassing, frankly speaking

Agreed. 4.0.3 is soo much better and smoother than 4.0.2 theres no point in waiting for an OTA upgrade
Whats bugging me is that the Nexus S ALREADY has an official stock 4.0.3 rom and the motorola xoom has an OFFICIAL IML77 Rom out right now.
Google should be putting out the latest builds to the nexus before anyone else gets it.

The Nexus S OTA has been stopped, and the Xoom ICS OTA is a beta build you have to sign up for.
Google will push the 4.0.3 OTA when its ready. If you're ancy you can just root. But I understand if you dont want to.

Excuse me, but does anybody know what was the reason for stoping OTA for SNS? I flashed it manually same second I saw info on the interwebs and it runs pretty good. No big complains.
My gNexus is ("was", 'used to be') a yakjuzs ...
After reading about the lack of OTA I downloaded the update from the official google website and installed it 20 minutes or so ...
Works nice but I couldn´t find any improvements ... people say that franco's 4.0.3 (#12) changes the device from water to wine ...
If you decide to update to 4.0.2 yakzu, just one advice: mine got stuck in a loading loop forever ... until I did a factory reset (from the fastboot mode).

I I have bought Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.1 ICS and I updated it to 4.0.2 in about phone section in settings! and it does not find newer update for it!
Is there any official update.zip for 4.0.2 to update it to 4.0.3?
I bought this phone from Finland and it's not Verizon 4G LTE phone!
If I update it to 4.0.3 then can I keep my apps and all other? (dalvik vm must cleaned..?)
and Does 4.0.3 have Estonian language?
(I don't want to brick that phone so that's why I am asking help..
+ why Gameloft games is not working on Galaxy Nexus? /:
and what is the best and most stable + newest kernel for Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks if someone can help me!
The latest OTA from Google on the GSM Nexus is 4.0.2, hope that helps!
If you want 4.0.3, you'll have to go the custom rom route.

Yes, it is a known fact that rooting requires you to "oem unlock" you phone... which clears all the data on the phone, including the internal storage... hope you read that before proceeding...
4.0.3 was never published as an official update...
Not everyone got/gets the 4.0.4 OTA update...
And if you have the CDMA Galaxy Nexus... all updates will come from Google by they will be co-branded by Verizon (i.e., they will have Verizon proprietary files needed for CDMA/LTE)... so you cannot get an "official" ICS update without Verizon involved...
Hello,
I just decided to flash Cyanogenmod 9 to my phone to get 4.0.4 and noticed that the signal indicator was hollow and had an x in it after waking up. I then abandoned Cyanogenmod 9 and flashed the 4.0.4 stock image to my phone. Now I can't seem to keep the device connected via mobile voice and data and all I seem to be able to do is reboot the device. I am kind of new to the GSM scheme, but the APN list is empty and I can't seem to scan for mobile networks. To me it seems like the radio is completely disabled. Here are the specs, if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I am going to try to restore my backup of my previous rom. Alternatively if anyone has the stock radio image for the yakjuxw, I could also just try to restore that. Thank you for reading my post ^_^.

4.0.2
Thank you. About an hour after my post I tried flashing the yakku stock firmware. I appear not to be having the issue on 4.0.2! I have a sneaking suspicion that the problem is the kernel. I base my hypothesis on the fact that 4.0.2 yakju works fine and Cyanogenmod 9 had similar issues with the same baseband. I'm going to try flashing the newer baseband and staying with 4.0.2 to see if it recurs. Thank you again for confirming the yakjuxw used the same baseband as the yakju! This is all new to me and I appreciate the advice.

I'm afraid of you won't learn anything from this. The 4.0.2 ROM(!) is sticked to GSM/CDMA, but 4.0.4 is sticked to WCDMA preferred...
Hello,
I think the problem comes from Android 4.0.4 itself. I have the same problem with a stock 4.0.4 flashed from the factory image provided by Google.
Other people have the same issue and are talking about it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24304822
Same problem here. After update to 4.0.4 I always lost the cellular signal when screen has gone down. I tried with different radios (xxkk6, xxkl1) but it didn't help. Anytime I move back to 4.0.2, problem disappears.
Originally my Gnex was yakjuxw.
My GN was yakju
Strange.. I suspected until now it is related to the difference of yakju and its variants...

I've checked and my phone is a Yakju, I tweeted a pic when I got it : https://twitter.com/#!/mephissto/media/slideshow?url=http://yfrog.com/kicn0p
Hello all. I appologize for the silly question, or if it has been asked before, but here it is.
I just picked up a Galaxy Nexus online, brand new and unlocked. I got it, popped in my Virgin SIM, have it all ready to go and synced with my Google account, but I am stuck on ICS.
Here as some specs:
Android Version: 4.0.1
Baseband Version: I9250UGKK7
Kernel: 3.0.1-ge2433f2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: ITL41D.I9250UGKK7
If I go to System updates for the OTA update, it tells me that the sustem is up to date.
Is there any way to get the official update for my Nexus?
Also, the device is not rooted, and does not have an unlocked bootloader.
Please let me know, as I am very interested!
Thank you!
Lambrecht van Dijk
The GSM version of the Gnex is sold with different software variants in the although all look almost the same.
Only the Takju and Yakju variants are updated to Jelly Bean and that update is offered directly by google. All other variants (yakjuxw, yakjuxx and others) are updated by samsung.
You can, however, flash a yakju or takju factory image from google and then get all the updates fast but that means you'll need to unlock your bootloader, and flash that image. That will result in a complete wipe of your data, including the internal memory (where you keep your music, photos and so on). Make a backup and read the threads here in the forum.
Cheers!

Just to add to his statement, Canadian variant is yakjuux, which is soon to be updated to jelly bean. However, if you don't like slow update, just flash yakju or takju, didn't hurt to convert to them

UGKK7 is a radio, it is not a build. The build you are running is yakjuux ITL41F.

That is a radio, not a build. And yes, yakjuux will get a update pretty soon... There's already been a leaked version on xda right now (thank you efrant!).
If you are willing to wipe your phone once to unlock your bootloader, I day flash to yakju or takju, since these variants gets the updates much faster than yakjuux variant.

Ah, I see. Thanks a lot!
I guess I will wait and for Samsung releases the JB update for yakjuux ITL41F.
Since you mentioned that someone recieved a JB yakjuux build, then maybe Samsung will release it in a couple of weeks?
Can't wait for it to happen soon!

Even though Google devices are kings in the Android world, WHY THE H£LL DOES GOOGLE F-UPS ALL OF THEIR NEXII!?!?!?!?
Is it hard to say, "WE ARE GONNA BE IN CHARGE OF UPDATES!!! SO SHUT UP VERIZON, SPRINT, CANADIAN CARRIERS, AND EVERYONE ELSE FOR THEIR OWN BUILDS & CARRIER CONTROL!!!!"
The only success seems to be the Nexus 7 since they can't run on a carrier, leaving it with only one version of the OFFICIAL software.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^

I need help in installing the factory Touchwiz ROM for my Galaxy SIII. I don't know where to get it and I don't know which one I need.
The reason is because CyanogenMod is not working correctly with my FreedomPop (Sprint) network. I can't update PRL or profile. The camera app doesn't work either, because it constantly crashes and I have to reboot the phone. Various other issues, but those stand out as priority. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Current CM version: 11-20150222-NIGHTLY-d2lte
SPH-L710
Android version: 4.4.4
Baseband version: L710VPUDND8

If you don't have a touchwiz backup, go to the Android development section and download a rom to flash. You can get either the stock or Wicked X roms there. They will let you update PRL and profile.
@ivpre Thanks for the response! Any suggestion which version to get? Would the latest one work? Reason I'm asking is I used to have a Verizon Galaxy SIII and once you took the update, it locked the bootloader. Is this something I should be concerned about?

One you upgrade to a firmware with Knox you can't revert back to one without it. Not a problem for most folks. I currently use ND8 bootloader with NDC modem. I hear NJ2 has a fair performance boost tho.

You are probably good since you were running CM. But to run the latest TouchWiz, you need to be on ND8 or NJ2. If not on either of those, read the stuff below.
MAKE UP A NANDROID BAKCUP OF YOUR CURRENT SET UP
To update to NJ2: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/d...10SPRDNJ2_SPR/
Flash a recovery via ODIN, it is the program you used in the above step: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2201860
There is also TWRP somewhere, but even though Philz isn't being developed, I haven' t had any issues with it. But if you want to recover your previous setup, it is probably best to use the same recovery as before.
The latest WickedX or Wicked S5 should work just fine. If you are unsure of your current firmware, I would just follow the directions above. Then you can flash a rom or root.
