[Q] The best Kernel for ARHD - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks,
I am using ARHD the latest version for ver 6.x.x.
I want to know the best kernel for that rom.
Some people says unity 10 is pretty good.
Best regards.
Device: DHD
ROM ARHD

Everyone will give u different opinions on this, the best thing to do is try each to see which is better for you. What works good for u may not be for me.

For me the RCMix3D v11.1 with 2WCR kernel by klquicksall worked excellently. The kernel comes with the ROM, but 2WCR patched kernel needs to be flashed separately (link is on ARHD thread main post).

it depends on your ROM and support of the kernel for that ROM (or vice versa ).
i am using tiamat (details in my signature). You need to try diff. kernels and see which one is best & stable for your rom. you can use "ultimate_kernel_cleaning_script_v2_by_lippol94.zip" script before flashing the kernel. you can find the download in xda forum.

Tun for Runnymede AIO 5

Hi all,
I need to get tun on this ROM. The kernel the ROM comes with does not seem to have it. I am happy to keep using the current kernel but need the instructions and or files.
Thanks in advance

I don't quite understand you, but if you want to use a different kernel, have a look at the very first post of the ROM. There is the link to snq kernels.

The advise is sound. Look for a kernel which comes with tun module.

Thanks for the reply. I just want to get tun installed. I tried that link and tried the bravo-2.6.35.8-snq-111118-no2wcr kernel and I installed it ok but it did not work. Looks like my question has been solved in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21643850&postcount=12607 so I will just have to wait for that. Thanks for th replies. I hope the next kernel gets me a L3 tunnel with Junos
Try Runnymede AIO 5.0.1

I hope you know what you're doing as you can't "overclock a ROM" but the cpu only
Regarding recommendations I can't help though as I don't know those roms.

I think, Sympfinity is good.

Im french so i don't speak english very well. But yes when i was talking to oc it was for cpu.
I already try symp kernel but the wifi don't work after flash it.Did anyone have the nfinity kernel and can upload it? I never try it .Somebody say that the best kernel for ics but i don't found this kernel.

Isn't the stock kernel that comes with cm9 arco's nfinity? Just reflash the rom to get the old kernel back, which is also overclockable.

seems like the WIFI of ErwinP:'s ICS build works if I'm not mistaken (don't know what kernel it has, though)
nFinity: arco has put flashable zips into this post a while ago - don't know if it's most current version though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015532
There's also this one which you could try (seen it in many threads): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
hope it helps

For the most custom ROMs you have to repack the kernel. However, on ViperX ROM there's no need to repack, just flash the boot.img for the kernel and install the modules in CWM.

Sweet so no repacks needed for viperx Rom just install the original custom kernels then? i.e faux123 kernal

Sorry another noob Question based off of this, but how do you know if a Rom needs a repacked kernal or not?

Yuo, no need for repack. Just download the ones from the official faux thread and you're ready to go!

If there are any ramdisk tweaks you need a repack. It's usually also stated in the OP if you need repack.

ics kernels for sense (fix miui v4 video playing) **update

fix miui v4 video problems
here are ics kernels included in viper rom (chinese ota kernel) and tazz's rom (leak kernel) to be used in other sense ics roms.
I actually made these to work with miui v4 as those have garbled video.
Any other rom which needs kernel updated can use this without any problems.
All credits should go to nitsuj17, tazzpirate and microdroid. All I did was extract kernel and hardware drivers from their roms and make a kernel update pakage.
flashing these kernels will fix garbled video problem in miui. both f these have working wifi and data. tested. these will not wipe data but make a backup just in case.
there's no point of flashing these kernels for a viper user. but tazz user may flash viper kernel to fix occasional wifi drop issue
flash only one.!! either tazz's one or viper one
thanks. :good:
new version added. people having problems can try flashing that
Any one still having problems with these kernels just flash this boot.img from 4ext recovery after flashing the kernel zip fie.

Thank you for your contribution!

I'm familiar with Viper's kernel since I've used viper rom but how does it differ from the one Tazz used? Is it just the Viper one having the wifi fix or is there more? Better yet is there even a reason to use Tazz's over Viper's?
I flashed the viper kernel over Miui and it gets stuck at the white HTC screen. Anyone else?

I think only viper kernel has fixed WiFi drop issue. Tazz kernel hasn't fixed it. And tazz kernel has some graphic driver issues so some items doesn't render properly in some games.

thanks! :fingers-crossed:
I tried viper kernel on tazz rom and it worked. So I think these kernels will work on any Rom as long as its a vivow, sense based ics rom.

Using this on MIUI, good work. Now all I need is to stop the radio from disconnecting for a few seconds when WIFI connects and I will be 100% content, until I get the itch to flash again, that is. Thanks again
