Went from the CM7.2 stable kang to cm9a1 kang back to the same cm7.2 stable kang and I cannot download a previously installed app. Not sure if any other apps are affected.. Any thoughts this are greatly appreciated. I need my music!
**update** I tried to include screen shots but my newb status is preventing me from doing so.
The app in question is Live Phish. The message in play store is "your device is not compatable with this item."
here's my configuration:
baseband: 2.15.00.0808
incredikernal 2.6.38.8
cyanogenmod-7.2.0-RC0-inc-KANG
build: 3/14/12
ran all the scripts in the dev section if that matters.

Could you download it with CM7 before you tried CM9?
That is a good question. Maybe I will try going back to cm7.1, download the app, then flash the 7.2 kang with no wipe?

I just looked for it in the play store and couldn't find it. On CM7 kang.
According to Android Central, the Play Store has been going through issues the last day or so:
http://www.androidcentral.com/getting-google-play-store-errors-youre-not-alone
Edit: I couldn't see the app from my phone either and I'm on CM7 as well although I can see it from the website.
I was not able to find that app on my phone either. I'm running CM7-PONS-03062012 version.
Tried downgrading to cm6 because i wanted to see what it was like and i was able to download the app but no dice after reflashing the 7.2 kang. I guess that leaves flashing 7.1 and not wiping before flashing back to the 7.2 kang. Out of curiousity, What is the difference between the 7.2 stable kang and the 7.2 pons?

Just some open commits (check my changelog). I'll have to go back through it, but nothing should affect the market.

Cant you just download the app on a rom that allows it, copy the apk from /data to your sdcard, install 7.2 kang and then install the app from the sdcard by clicking on it and selecting install?
If it worked on an ICS ROM and not a GB one, try editing your build.prop, located /system/build.prop. Compare the two values for ro.build.fingerprint (which is mainly what the play store looks at, that and LCD Density), and change the values to what ICS shows. Then reboot, clear market data, and try again. If this doesn't work, or if you need help with the process, let me know.
Sorry i am not on your level with this, but i am willing to learn! Does isolating the apk of a pay app require anything more than a root explorer? What would be the path to find those apks?

CM9 on the Inc? Where did you get this from? Was it working? Alpha/Beta?
Edit: Nevermind.

I just flashed VaelPak 3.2 RC2 and am wondering if anyone else has it?
How do I access the bonuses of rooting and how do I change themes/icons?
I don't use that rom, but did you read through the dev's thread for info and instructions?
We're comin from a pure power source.
I have used VaelPak and it is awesome. I'm not on it currently, however, there is a theme section within Vaelpak's menus, either in the app drawer or in the settings section (i don't recall). Anyway, many of the changes are made without having to go into recovery and flash. He makes it very simple to do. Sorry I couldn't be more definitive in my reply, but as I aforementioned, I'm not using that particular rom right now.
What rooting bonuses are you looking for? There is a VaelPak Settings app in the app drawer and in menu>settings. Either way gets you to the same thing. You'll find all the add-ons and customizations in there.
go to the market and install the Vaelpak forum app
Pretty sure it comes with Forums and Settings apps pre-installed. Market mostly used for updating.

It is awesome in every sense of the word. The detail and care that goes into his rom is like nothing I have ever seen. I have been floored by the performance and sheer beauty of it. I wouldn't even think of going elsewhere.

where did you find RC2 man?
http://vaelek.com/index.php?/topic/843-vaelpak-32-rc-2/
If you go into VaelPak Settings, you should be able to download a flashable zip that will update you from RC1 to RC2, but I would probably recommend just backing up your apps and launcher settings, then wiping and flashing RC2. Vaelek mentioned there was a higher instance of issues when updating vs. flashing clean.

That is correct, a clean install of RC2 works best. I've been rocking it since the night of release and love it.
There's actually a few good reviews of it out right now, here's one for instance. http://therootofallevo.com/2011/04/evo-4g-rom-vaelpak-3-2-rc2/#
If your looking to Change a notification icon go into the vealpak settings then to theme builder choose what mod you want and it will make a flashable zip on your sd card you can flash in recovery

Lots of new goodies in VP 3.2 RC2 the hits just keep coming!
Which CM should I run? A stable or a nightly?
Also, how well does it work?
Depends on you. The stable version is stable, has everything working. The latest nightly has all that, and additional fixes, ect. I would recommend the latest nightly, though if you were to have trouble [which you shouldn't], bump back to the latest stable version.
If you're new to rooting and custom roms, always start out with a "stable" version and yes, it works quite well. Also, feel free to try SalvageMod 1.2.1.

so does the nightly basically fix the problems of the latest stable while the devs work on the upcoming stable?

Well the stable is more of like a shelf as in "everything works at this point" print. So the stable, you should have no issues.
The nightlies are tweaks to that stable version to make it even more better, so there is a chance you COULD run into a small bug on it, which would be fixed in the following nightly.

the nightlies are pretty stable, akin a few bugs here and there, try the stable if your new to custom roms, once you get comfortable try the nightlies, see what works best for you.

Best to bookmark it. The lastest stable is the 3rd file down. When first flashing CM7, you also need to flash the latest gapps with it.

nevermind that, they work. how do i install the gapps? i'm new to the whole gapps concept.
Cranky post edited.
As for gapps, you flash after CM7 so in recovery do the following.
-In your current rom, backup all your apps with titanium backup
-boot into recovery, backup your current rom
-wipe factory/data, cache, and dalvik cache [under advanced in clockwork]
-install zip from sdcard
-navigate and install your version of CM7
-"go back", wipe cache and dalvik again, then flash the gapps
reboot
Gapps is google apps, which allows your market, gmail, ect, to work.
I tried to get GTalk with voice and video working using the method in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062980
After following the directions and opening GTalk I see the video icon in Gtalk, but when I press it I get a FC.
If I initiate a video or voice call from my PC to the phone, the phone will show a GTalk FC.
I'm tried it with Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC and Savagedzen 2.1.0 BFS kernels with the same results. (I'm using CM 7.0.2.1)
I also tried changing the permission of the Talk.apk to RWX.
I know i'm close, I'm looking for any additional info. anyone who has this working with CM7 can give me
I don't have a particular fix for this, but thought i'd give a heads up that i just flashed the latest CM7 Nightly, which brings the phone up to 2.3.4.
I flashed the latest gApps and the GTalk with video is working PERFECTLY.
I guess what i'm trying to say is that if you are willing to move to Nightlies, it would work for you with a lot less effort.

Thanks for the info. I may give it a try.
Two questions;
1) Where are you getting gapps specifically for CM7 builds? I collected so many different GB gapps over the last two days that I've forgotten which version goes with which ROM.
2) Which kernel are you using with that nightly build? I was considering trying Tiamat 4.* (sic) with CM7.
There are two different links. Have you tried the one labeled "Test" yet? And I am having the same problem on Evervolv Wimacs b6.

1. Here's the most recent gApps that i used:
http://www.mediafire.com/?pq6ji8c0pl9kcq9
2. I use the stock CM kernel that comes with flashing there ROM. they put a lot of time and effort into it and i think it is underrated. It does me good, personally.
Thanks for the link. I'll have to give it another try.
EDIT: Flashed CM7-64 with the latest gapps (20110504, I think) and GTalk is working.
Thanks bweisholtz.
I want to install to my gf phone CM7+ go launcher. Anyone got a stable version is running with no missing features?
Would be very helpful to hear based on experience. Just want to know that everything that need to work - works. Not interested in latest nightly necessarily.
You want to install Go launcher in your GF? WTF?
P.S. Go for stock cm7 or MIUI CM7 Modded one.

Stock CM7 is the non-modded build by Alquez. If you don't use USB tethering, go for the 20120717 build. (The Latest), However, if you have a need for USB tethering, then go for the 20120616 Build. (A little older), and flash the kernel which he has provided in the downloads.
20120717 - http://code.google.com/p/cm7-wildfi...=cm-7-20120717-UNOFFICIAL-marvel.zip&can=2&q=
20120616 - http://code.google.com/p/cm7-wildfi...=cm-7-20120616-UNOFFICIAL-marvel.zip&can=2&q=
The Kernel with the Youtube Fix and BT Restart Fix for the above build (20120616) - http://code.google.com/p/cm7-wildfire-s/downloads/detail?name=cm7-kern-eca-1.zip&can=2&q=
Good luck.
Question:
How do I extract the kernel from CyanogenMod 7.2, so that I can install it as a zip into a different ROM? Do I have to build from source?
Why I ask:
I'm trying MIUI (1.12.9 from MIUI.us), but it has a Bluetooth problem. It can pair with my laptop and can connect to send files, but it won't connect to a program I have (Type2Phone) that lets me use my laptop as a Bluetooth keyboard for my mobile devices. All I get is "Paired but not connected." CyanogenMod (7.2.0 and 9) and AOKP (official ICS) don't have this problem; it's specific to MIUI.
I think it's a kernel issue. This MIUI version is based on Android 2.3.5 and comes with kernel version 2.6.35.14-cyanogenmod-g9e5cdf1. If CM 7.2.0 (which is based on Android 2.3.7) final has a different kernel version, I'd like to try installing that kernel into MIUI if possible.

Ask reville. He had some old stuff on a site of his I think. If you can't get it from him I may have it. I am going to bed but I can maybe check tomorrow.
And look back at the miui thread and see if it was posted in the last few pages.

But you will only get back to .8 kernel.

Thanks, everyone. I ended up going with khamsakamal48's unofficial MIUI v4 ROM, which solves my Bluetooth problem and is really good. So far it's my favorite ROM, compared to stock 2.3.3, CM 7.2, CM9, and AOKP ICS. Between that ROM, Google Now for ICS (MIUI Now), a replacement MicroSD card I bought yesterday (previous one was defective), and finding out that my headphone jack wasn't damaged (works with earbuds, just not the big headphones I'd been trying it with), it feels like I've got a whole new phone.
