[ROM] Kezra Value Pack V1.1 (Android 2.3.6, CowKernel) - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

So I am here to present upon thee my newest and likely last ROM for the Galaxy W: The Kezra Value Pack!
So what's new in this ROM compared to Kezra V4?
Well first off it's based off of the newest EUR firmware by Samsung, the infamous Value Pack that adds Face Unlock among other features to our phone (if you want a full changelist, look it up, Google is your friend). As per usual in a custom ROM, this one is rooted, deodexed, busybox'd and all that pretty stuff.
The custom Kernel present in this ROM is Cowithgun's latest modification of the Arco68 kernel for our phones. It adds tons of neat features, among the biggest on them being the ability to overclock your phone up to 1800MHz should you want to.
I can assure you the ROM is quite stable and should work without a hitch.
As for differences with Kezra V4 in terms of the applications inside here's the quick rundown:
1. I have dropped my arrogance and included most apps that people want (except for Polaris Office) and use. If you don't want a certain app, feel free to use Titanium Backup to remove it.
2. This ROM was shaped to be as close a copy of Cow's V7 ROM except that I have put an emphasis on the Gaming/Social aspect and left the Game and Social hubs from the TouchWiz Framework (CowPanel and Zeam are also included).
3. Kept the Samsung boot animation and sound because I think it's prettier that way
So here's the download links for those that want it:
Part 1: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?evegdav60862a48
Part 2: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?a2881jow2u2782m
(use HJSplit to join the 2 files and make the update zip)
Instructions:
1. Download files;
2. Join files using HJSplit;
3. Copy ZIP to SDCard;
4. Format system/cache/data
5. Flash ROM
6. ????
7. Profit!

F.A.Q.
(1) Will this ROM work on the Exhibit 2 4G?
A: No idea. Ask the devs for the Exhibit 2. The hardware is quite similar but some things do differ.
(2) Is this CM7?
A: No, it is not. I unfortunately do not have the time to dedicate to porting CM7 over to the SGW. I am sorry
(3) What are the advantages of this ROM over stock?
A: It is rooted and much faster. Try it out yourself.
(4) Will you update this further?
A: Probably not. Only if there are CRITICAL bugs that need fixing.
(5) Is this overclockable?
A: Why, yes it is. Glad you asked

Version History:
V1: Initial Version
Changes are listed in Post #1
V1.1: Fixed Version
- Implemented Arco's Bionic optimizations (thanks to Cow)
- Fixed CowPanel to actually do something.
Special Thanks:
Arco68 for helping me guiding me in this odyssey that is making Android builds and teaching me how the updater-script thing works and for allowing me to test some stuff which really helped me release this. Also for his custom Ancora kernel dsixda for his awesome kitchen in which I cooked this ROM.
dsixda for his awesome kitchen in which I cooked this ROM and adapting it to our phones
cowithgun for his superb work with overclocking and tweaking Arco's kernel.

Awesome... Thought you stopped your work on custom ROMS for wonder... Great to have you back. Are you going to use latest kernel from cow ROM no.7?

I have "stopped". I am just doing this because I believe EU users need and kinda deserve an EU ROM with most features from Cow's Kernel. And yes, I am using the kernel from Bionic Cow nº7
edit: atm I have a booting alpha ROM that already has the custom kernel and is rooted+busybox. Just testing a few things out, then it's on to the beta phase.

Well in that case, thank you kindly Sir
To be honest I almost lost hope for new euro ROM, that could be compared to cow's ROMS. Fortunately we have you

I will try to replicate Cow's ROM to the best of my ability although there are a few slight changes that deviate more from our stance when it comes to using a phone. He has removed the entire Social Framework (and the GameHub) from the TouchWiz framework, while I opt to keep it (I like my Gaming/Social stuff). On the other hand I opt to remove pointless bloatware like PolarisOffice (which sucks) and other stuff that is inserted in there just to occupy space.
edit: done and uploading.

Nice m8 glad to see you back

Thank you very much bro.

A quick ROM update is coming today, with the Bionic optimizations and a bugfix to CowPanel. But that should be the last version of the ROM.

Waiting for updates!
Thanks kezra for your work!

Anyway, will I have to wipe everything again with v2? I just finished reinstalling :-D

Unfortunately I always set my ROMs to wipe everything to avoid issues... You can always back them up with titanium backup, or not update. The fixes are minor anyway. But you'll see when I update the thread in about 2h

Not update is impossibile, I have some sort of compulsion that forces me to have everything at the latest avaiable version
Anyway I understand why you set it to wipe, I'll just install everything again. Restoring with Titanium often leads to issues :-D
I'm already working on the 14 toggle MOD based on this ROM.

It's so smooth!
This seems like a project heavily based off the work of the CM7 team and other kernel devs, only without the inherent benefits of CyanogenMod and the work the experienced developers have put into it. Exactly what is the benefit of this project?
Am I right in thinking you could take any nexus s rom and just slap this or bilboas kernel on it?

Some people consider cm to be bloated as it comes with excessive features not required by some users.
Bloat == less responsive. So w/e there's cm builds, u'll see aosp builds.
Why ? One simple reason, u get stock and nothing but stock.

To be honest I don't think there is any measurable difference in performance between CM and AOSP on a device like the Galaxy S...IMO the features outweigh any preconceived ideas about slower performance that aren't really based reality. But if it's all about the clean AOSP "feeling" then go right ahead.

Yup i completely agree, especially on these high end devices.
This idea of having aosp clean builds originated however from previous generation devices such as g1,magic...etc where aosp builds seemed to be preferred by a lot.

My brother uses a G1 and on their it's clear that in order for Froyo or Gingerbread to be usable it needs to be as light as possible. But this primarily pertains to memory usage...CM6/7 is pretty smooth, just apps don't stay open.
On Galaxy S I don't really think pure AOSP has any tangible benefits over CM7 which is quite obviously based on AOSP. For instance, MIUI, while it should feel more "bloated," feels 100% the same performance wise as CM7 which is great (they share kernel etc. so that makes sense)
Hey Guys,
I installed this on my cappy cause I wanted less bloat. Change the lib files for auto-rotation and flashed bilboas kernel. Working fine. Issue is this dosen't have root. How would I go about doing that? I tried super one click, but it freezes the app. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you done any reading? This project is entirely dependent on the work that codeworkx and the CM7 team has been doing. This project won't "overtake it"; I doubt this dev (no offense to OP) has anywhere near the experience or technical ability to troubleshoot problems with AOSP on Galaxy S like codeworkx, dumdidum, et all have been doing for months.
Battery drain on CM7 (and other ROMs that utilize its work like MIUI) is worse than Samsung based ROMs, sure. But it's not "crazy" at all and for my usage patterns isn't even a problem...I charge every night anyway. To me it's either one full day, or two full days, not in between. I've never had a ROM last me through two full days, therefore, I need to charge every night and it doesn't matter if I have 20% or 40% left.

[Q] [Q} ROM Vs Theme

Hi Guys,
Kinda n00b question:
Whats the difference between a ROM and a Theme? I'm running SimplyHoney 3.8 on my SGS, which I understand is a ROM. I want to apply a new theme, but from the installation guides it looks like its installing a ROM... so:
1. Will installing a theme wipe my apps and configs?
2. Whats the actual difference?
3. Do I need to get a theme to match my ROM?
I'd really appreciate answers, or directions to where should I ask this.
Many thanks,
SoundFX3D
1. Theme will only affect the appearance.
2. Rom is sort of like a package with all the features and tweaks included by the developer(s) which also has its own theme.
3. In the case of SimplyHoney, its has a blue theme. You can choose to flash another theme if you don't like blue. Just make sure its compatible with your rom version.
And no themes almost never wipe data so all your apps will remain.
Also on the subject of Simply Honey if you install a theme that you don't like or doesn't function as expected you can simply re-flash the Simply Honey rom and it wont wipe as it auto detects. You be right back where you started.
Sent from Simply Honey, Loved by Humans, Envied by Trolls! Using XDA premium of course.
basicly almost all so called roms out there are themes with kernel attached
90% or more files inside their 200mb packages are matching stock ones
but that way new user thinks, hell lot of good job i will donate =)
most of roms claims best stability, best speeds everything best
while speed depends on kernel used and system version basicly
so you have same insides in every each one of them with one of few kernels out there
only thing that difers them is theme used
everything is more or less placebo
Thanks a million u guys
$omator, I think that when you get a room you get a theme + kernel + android stuff + some apps that work well together (or should). So developers should have some credit.
Buy it is true that a 100% real rom is something like cyagonenmod.

well, Only thing I will agrre on is , the kernel builders and themers do NOT get enough credit for there work compare to rom builders, thats sad but again huge 'unknown difference between guy that make the voodoo stuff and guy that just compile it .
For the rest I disagree .. plain and simple , the way the framework files are handled when modified and how junk files/ids values present depends on the builder , the updater script, optimization of pngs, deodexed zip aligned , the init.d script chosen to go with the kernel are 90% of what makes a rom , on first boot when your dalvik is created the rom stability is created, some badly themed apks wont even run on first boot they require already present dex files so the system can correct the errors after the initial first boot (witch is long ) themers dont have to worry about that , but throw there files ina stock deodexed rom and flash iit full wipe letssee if your phoen runs smooth 'just becuz its 'JVQ with the latest OMG kernel.... 10% is placebo no doubt .. certainly not 90%%%
of course they are some rom chefs that take the work of others theme it and call it there ROM thats another story...
btw dont you run stock rooted kernel on odexed rom ??? if so thatwoudl lead me to believe you are VERY biased ....

same with galaxian kernel, it is bunch of features from every other kernel + bugs
bugs that are bugfixed every single day and new final version is delivered, that is said by him the best fastest stable bugfree and so on ....
this guy claimed 170$ for fixing bugs that he have made and that could be ironed in betatesting process if he would conduct one and features from other kernel devs basicly ;]
his thread lacks of current sources - i am suprised that his thread still exists and he is not kicked out

agree about the wipe, does not agree that optimizing zipaligning and all that are necessary
still majority of copied files are intact that is what ive ment
and those roms are basicly themes as if you would take the custom kernel out that is what your left with, a theme - that is my opinion i will try to hold on

or they leave old version of apps just because 'they still work on new version"
what is basicly reverting their theme/rom to a previous firmware revision

How do I install this properly and clean from another MIUI or CM based rom?
THIS WILL WIPE ALL YOUR DATA!
1: make full backup using miui backup (skip if you're on CM)
2: reboot into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3: do a factory reset and format /system
4: flash the .zip and reboot, if you came from CM you can skip the next steps
5: restore your miui backup
6: reboot
How do I update an existing MIUI/CM based rom and keeping my apps/data?
1: make full backup using miui backup (skip if you're on CM)
2: reboot into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3: goto mounts/storage and format /cache /system and wipe the dalvik cache
4: flash the .zip and reboot, if you came from CM you can skip the next steps
5: restore your miui backup, some system settings may have change between releases, so this will not always for all settings
6: reboot
FAQ:
Q: The phone is lagging like mad after first boot/flash.
A: This is normal, let the phone settle for a few minutes.
Q: Why can't I run things as root anymore?
A: Since MIUI 1.9.9 you have to enable root permissions. Open up the "Superuser" app, press the menu soft key, click settings and enable root permissions.
Q: How do I add more input languages to the GB keyboard?
A: Download them from the market or directly from here.
Extended settings issues:
Q: How do I remove the Google logo from the notification bar?
A: Open up "MIUI Control" app and go to "Carrier options" and then disable "Display carrier logo".
Q: The wall paper scrolling doesn't work.
A: To fix; open the menu on the mainscreen and goto Launcher. Disable and enable wallpaper scrolling and it should work. This only has to be done once.
Q: I've set an alarm but there is no icon to show it is enabled.
A: To fix; open MIUI Control app, go to Clock options and disable and enable the alarm icon. This only has to be done once.
(more to come)
First of all thank you!
Are there other langugages included than english/chinese?
it looks pretty god damn cool
This looks perfect for me as I wanted to try MIUI but thought some other ROM was to bloated.
edit: Damn, my phone is at 2%.. Gonna have to charge it up before trying it. :/
At the moment it is just English, but I'm sure you can apply the 1.8.26 language packs to this as it is pretty much stock, with some crud removed.
The miuiandroid.com guys did add some tweaks for GPS, which is mostly for Europe. For other users, replace /system/etc/gps.conf and /system/etc/telocation.db with these files. Just open up the ROM zip in 7zip/winrar/winzip and over write the ones in there, then flash as normal.

Battery life...
looks good. "congratulations"!. I wanted to do something the same but you beat me to it. Anyway, how is the battery life with Neo 17? Can you some report without all the bloats in it for battery life? So far, 1.8.26 MIUI.US is 1 1/2 a day on moderate use with data and wifi on. And it sleeps like a baby.
Thanks in advance.
Firstly it looks very gud!
Secondly how is the battery life ? I don't go out much so i don't want amazing battery life just average!

@bhuvan
AOSP refers to the Android Open Source Project. Google's phones are based on the AOSP. Any other phone manufacture has their own version of Android on their phones such as HTC (Sense), Samsung (Touchwiz), LG (variant of Touchwiz) etc...These are based on the AOSP but skinned to the manufacturer's needs..
If you wish to install MIUI, please ensure you have read and every installation step carefully. You need to 1st make sure that u hv gingerbread bootloaders. Since you are running Jetpack ROM, you should be on gb bootloaders...Once this is confirmed, simply put the MIUI ROM that you desire, go to recovery and flash the ROM....wait till it boots completely and voila...ur phone will never be the same again...
Once you are on MIUI, you'll never want to go back to samsung roms...as for the battery life...I get 48 hrs of medium usage - wifi (95% of the time and rest on 3.5g network), browsing, facebook, emailing (a lot), photos...
I'm sure you will have fun with MIUI...and there will be no turning back...If you wish to go back to Samsung based ROMs, just download any Speedmod kernel flashed via Odin and that's it...u r all set...
Hv fun..
I am on galaxian kernel right now so do I need to move to speedmod kernel? Also on more quick question main post says to replace some files but i don't have a computer right now so i can't but also I don't use GPS so can I install without changing that files ?

And i am loving these themes ! but i saw one thing that in battery use it says android os 89% and when I re-saw battery use it stated android os 19% so i think its showing wrong data!

So far so good, I installed this ROM last night and until now haven't encountered any problem yet. This ROM is just what I want, Galnet MIUI seems a bit bloated and unstable at the moment.
Thanks for the feedback! My battery life greatly depends on what I do. If i casually browse, make calls and maybe watch some you it lasts 1-2 days. Be sure to calibrate your battery though, its easy but time consuming but worth it.
I've been using this little mashup for ages based on the miuiandroid.com releases.
A little secret, a kitchen may be up soon. So you can brew your own MIUI, choose a kernel, gps tweaks EU/US/etc, pick a default theme, with MIUIthe possibilities are end;less. It is just sad the MIUI community seems fragmented now.
miuiandroid.com vs miui.us vs galnet vs. miui.com
Why can't we all get along and make an epic ROM we can all customize!
I want that, and I shall do my best to make it happen. We may have to follow the -stable branch and only add weekly updates/fixes when it concerns our phones.
Personally I like to run the latest stuff, but not at the price that I can't rely on this ROM to serve me when I simply need a phone

So, with that said, you will be updating this rom with weekly updates like miui without it getting bloated. This sounds good, as you have a fully working phone to use. Have you tried incorporating Neo 17 r8. Alot have reported it wurmth good battery life.

[03-Nov-11][ROM][GSM][CWM] P1000XWJQ3-2.35-Minimal [KERNEL: Overcome v.4.0.0]

DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible in any case if using this firmware will damage your Tab.
WARNING: This rom is doesn't meant for whoever want a rom ready to use!
I thought i would share this rom with you, it is the same version as the other from mine but without a lot of system apps.
Why this? probably are you asking yourself
Well, i guess that there are a lot of people that do not use like 80% of system apps and so i, i like to modify my own rom as my needs.
Rom Description:
- Stock P1000XWJQ3 Android 2.35 "After the diet"
- This Rom will wipe your Data but not SDcard, make a backup it is suggested.
- Deodexed
- Zipaligned
- Rooted
- Updated Gmail, Maps, Market to the latest versions
- Init.d tweaks
- Build.prop tweaks
- Battery percent Thanks to Cromed
- Add Appextractor
- Add New Market v . 3.3.11 thanks to febycv
- Removed Samsung Animation, Samsung boot sound
Installation:
If you come from an Overcome rom then just copy the .zip file into your sd card, put your tab into recovery mode and flash it as usual.
If you come from another rom then go to www.teamovercome.net, download last kernel in .tar format, put your tab into download mode and flash the kernel.
Reboot your tab and let it to finish the conversion process.Once it end, put your tab into recovery and flash the .zip previously copied to your sd card.
Credits and thanks.
Alterbridge86 for his Kernel and a couple of tips
Przekret for providing link to original rom
Awjones for appextractor
Cromed for the collaboration
Samfirmware
Google
Samsung
Note:
I did not mod any visual aspect of the rom so do not ask for screenshots, it is the same as any other stock rom with the same TouchWiz 4.0 Launcher.
I know that someone will ask for difference between this and other roms, well, this is a stock rom with some performance tweaks, at my personal taste it is pretty smooth and this won't be compared to the great Overcome roms speaking of visual enanchments and other tweaks.
For some reasons CSC is different in this new version than in older JQ1, i didn't have problems but in case let me know.
Download:
JQ3 Minimal
XMFJQ2 Modem Thanks to DarkPal for CWM script

[ROM] 6045-ELUGA-DCZ - stock, oc kernel, gapps, root - 1.1

**************************************************
[ROM] 6045-ELUGA-DCZ
current version 1.1 (2016-03-24)
STOCK, STABLE, ROOT, GAPPS
**************************************************
-I made it just for fun...
-it is not exactly a build. Its more a mod.
-based on latest PANASONIC ELUGA SWITCH (IDOL3 rebranded device) firmware (EB-90S55EWLv1009)
-I exchanged the kernel for the ARDE DEV TEAM STOCK OC one (4x1651 MHz + 4x1601 MHz).I used Group 1 kernel for my 6045Y device.
-including ROOT and GAPPS (latest supersu 2.65)
-added KERNEL ADIUTOR
-removed all unnecessary apps from TCL, PANASONIC and GOOGLE. There is only the necessary basic to run the phone. All other things you can download by yourself. So the ROM is about 900 MB on size.
-Due to source is the avaliable set of languages shrinken to see screenshots. But More Locale 2 app (preinstalled, but removable) will do the trick for you on most apps (except settings).
GUIDE:
-go to TWRP recovery (please make sure you use the @Unjustified Dev version from here
-wipe chache/dalvik/system/data
-install ROM
-If you are on 6045I or 6045K you have to download ad flash at this point the GROUP 2 OC Kernel from the htcmania.com site (see link below)
-wipe chache/dalvik/ (to be sure)
-reboot
DOWNLOAD:
From my google disk (size aprox 900 MB)
Here are all Kernels from ARDE DEV TEAM and the 6045I stock (6045Y stock, 6045Y OC , 6045I OC and 6045I stock)
ISSUES:
I dont know of any, you tell me.
changelog in 1.1 build (2016-03-24)
-just initial build..all as it is on stock, except kernel
CREDITS:
BIG thnax to @franq36 and @acura2201 of ARDE DEV Team for the Kernel, also thank @Grarak for the Kernel Adiutor.
Also Thanx to @Unjustified Dev, @famewolf, @Marionette and all the others who are making a great work for our device.
There is the link to the HTCMania.com KERNEL thread (Spanish)
And of course i am not responsible for any damage you do by flashing this on your device!
please wait amoment..my upload is slooow

thath means more developers
i think it will be the same like i806...very little people will buy it. In china you can see even on TCL brand many users, many ports and many devs. On I806 there is only one dev in china.
I tried this out of curiosity, it didn't go so well... It freezes, screen shuts off then I have to restart it. Other then the freezing it looked pretty good, and I thought the Boot animation was funny on this phone.

its running on arde dev oc kernel.. try to flash stock kernel. my cpu is capable to maintain the oc frequencies so i had no issues with that. Except the lags that are also on stock firmware on idol3.
I can hold oc on the other roms tho, that's what I've been using for a few days.(and running right now) but I'll try it when I get a chance to see.

Hi guys, ROM very good and stable. But it seems to me that GPS very badly works, badly catches. Advise that it is possible to make to improve a signal of reception of GPS. Thanks
I solved a problem with reinstallation of GPS.conf
Hi DallasCZ,
Love the work you've done. Very efficient and usable, but I do have a stupid question: In regards of performance would you consider this more preferable in comparison to your 6045-i806-DCZ rom?
Also you state that 6045I users need to flash the GROUP 2 OC Kernel from htcmania.com and I assume this is the Nuevoboot_Alcatel_V1_6045I,6045K.img in your google drive as there no longer is a link to htcmania.com but I'd like your confirmation before I commit to this action.
Thank you for all the work you've put into this community!

since this is a stock rom, you can try to boot it with the keel whats inside. Or you can try to backup your boot. img from your stock rom and flash it after you flash this eluga rom.
hello DCZ i would like to thank you for your work, it is from far the best rom i've tried everythig is working perfectly, good performance and good battery life too with the advanced interative gov settings, really it's the best, all the stock stuff that we love about our phone, smooth (not the launcher still need of nova or else),no bugs no random reboot, lighter than the stock rom and with all the languages and the playstore as well. I definitely recommend this rom for those who want to have the best expereience with the Idol 3 6045 and the most stable. The only thing that i miss is the cyanogen theme application which is awsome and all the cyanogen ringtones alarms and notifications sounds but maybe someone can do something about it one day . Once again THANK YOU!!!!!

Hi DallasCZ, thanks for your work. And it is possible to implement in [ROM] 6045-ELUGA-DCZ the hidden settings, how on [ROM] 6045-i806-DCZ 1.2?

meybe if i have time. I made this only for fun.
To implement the mods i made on DCZ means to decompile framework and some other apks then change the apks, compile again and test.

Are you no longer developing this one? I was curious how it compared to the i806 version?

i am not a developer. I am just a modder. I have no time and if, i would only make some minor osmetics mods, so the performance would not change a lot.
