If you flashed gapps you can just download a music player from the Play Store

From what I can tell, latest gapps packages are dropping music player so people move over to the Google Play Music app, which I like, but many do not.

I don't think gapps ever had a music player to it.

Pull the one out of CM9. I just flashed AOKP and saw the music player disappear so will be doing this tonight as well.

OK here you go. Push this to system\app, hit install, enjoy:

Google Music Downloads

I keep all of my music on Google Music, but I'm running Bliss 3.5 and I really love the stock music player. Whenever I go to download songs stored online though, they still don't show up in the stock music app. Is there a certain way to do this?

One little issue with Google music player

One little issue with Google music player, see the screenshot...
cm9 music player works fine but with stock music player it's not showing information of the song sometimes... :/
Is this normal on Jelly Bean Preview and does others have same problem..?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I would not think this is normal for JB. I have not personally experienced this before.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Haven't experienced it.
I am not experiencing that problem. Factory reset? Or try a different music player from the Play Store.
Ok, Thanks for your replies. I try to fix it somehow and if I can't fix it then I have to use CM9 music player..

Apollo or Google Play Music

Which one do you like better?

Honestly I think they both suck but if I had to choose between those two it would be Apollo. Google music caches random things I never asked it to and doesn't cache what I want it to. I use doubletwist.
BOTH
At the same time!!!!!!!!

I think PlayerPro is the best music app, I even payed for it. Pure White theme is amazing
I prefer Apollo, but I have both just in case I want to play music from the cloud.

That's not what was asked... apollo or google play or gtfo... I don't like either, but apollo sucks way less than google play music.....
Google play music, just because of the cloud (only on wifi, not 3g) and the default settings are perfect for car audio. I've played with the Apollo just couldn't find anything that makes it stand out from the abundance of music players on the market.

Apollo is garbage, I was just giving another suggestion because they are obviously not the only music apps. Gtfo? Ok
I use Apollo with the Black theme. I can't say I love it, but it plays music and has the "Hold volume UP to skip" feature... which is really all I need (I use Shuffle All while jogging and it's nice being able to skip a song I dont want to hear without needing to even look at my phone). Last time I checked the Volume UP skip didn't work with Play Music.
I do wish Apollo would get an update with more features, neater UI, and do better with album art.

And that would make sense if he asked for music players other than google now and apollo.... but he didn't so ur point is invalid....

Ok fine
I use Apollo, not because I like it but because I don't feel like downloading any other player.

I prefer neither. I use rocket player. Organizes music and podcasts better than anything I've used so far.

As long a Google music keeps the cloud service, it can't suck. Besides being able to customize the equalizer, organize music, and how it looks what more could you want out of the millions of music apps?

They both suck. Poweramp is the best music player. Period.

I used the Amazon mp3 could app, and but since they limited it to 250 songs I think I'll switch to Google music.

If it's only used for cloud then it's ok. I live out west so when I leave urban areas service its spotty so I have to have music on the phone as well. Google music doesn't cache what I tell it to. It just caches random things so because of that I say it sucks.
Power amp could be good. It has a lot of features but the interface sucks.
you save music for offline mode before you leave the house. Google Music because of the free cloud service.

Of course. But it doesn't save what I tell it to. It saves random songs.

I also believe PlayerPro is the best music player on Android.

Samsung Music Player???

Okay, I absolutely love the native Samsung music player on my Galaxy S III. The sound quality is amazing in my headphones and my car. However, there are some things that need to be improved like downloading album arts, organizing my music by their albums and such. I've tried n7player but it doesn't help out much. I've also tried the tag editing tools and other music players like zplayer, playerpro and other music players in the Google play store and those don't help out much either. Any other solutions?

PowerAMP is my favorite music player on Android, and it can do all the things you're asking for.

Music not showing up on twiz player.

I have a question regarding the twiz music player. I'm on jellyb and somehow my stock music player or the Walkman can't "see" some of my music even thought they're in mp3 format. I've tried renaming the damn songs and they still don't pop up. I am able to play them using es explorer and having it play through stock app but it's just not popping up. Any ideas of how I could fix this?

If you just put on phone you might need to rescan media. There are apps in play store to force a rescan. Then I had a problem in the past where a app was creating a .nomedia file so the media scanner skipped that folder.

Almost like deja vu. Having the same issue in either the stock music player or Play Music. Just moved over to Note 2 from S3 and didn't have this happen on S3. Tried unmounting and mounting external SD card so as to force a rescan, no dice.
So i just rebooted the phone, went to Music Player and it's blank, says i have no music on phone. While contemplating what to do next (including downloading a re-scan media app from the market) i just let it alone and a minute later all my music started showing up and populating. I guess it took its sweet time to re-scan or get it's head right.

Only other couple things off the top of my head would be go to settings and application manager find the music player and try clearing data. My guess is that won't work since it's multiple players. Other thing I know some songs I downloaded from a mp3 app before didn't show until I updated the id3 tag for some reason. The ones that didn't show had a bunch of garbage in the id3 mostly random symbols. Once they got corrected they started showing up for me. But that was when I had my epic touch. Hope it works for ya.
