Screenshot using SDK - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I'm new to SGS-II and am trying to take a screen using ddms.bat in the SDK. All my prior phones have been HTC starting with the G1 and all I had to do was plug the phone in and double click on ddms.bat in the tools folder. I have USB Debugging checked. Doesn't seem to work with the T989 SGS-II. My SDK is up to date and works on the HTC Sensation. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks in advance.
EDIT:
I have the T989 USB drivers downloaded and installed and it doesn't show up in the device manager either.

Exactly, barely hold the home button and very quickly tap the power button. If you do it correctly you should see a snapshot animation

Okay, got that but I'd still like the sdk to work. The T989 doesn't show up on Windows 7 device manager when plugged in even though I have the USB drivers downloaded and installed.

Try installing pdanet. It installs device drivers which may relieve your situation. Also make sure USB debugging is checked

I've got usb debugging checked, I'll give pdanet a try. All the phones I've had and rooted since 2008 have always been in the device manager. If I go to my platform-tools folder and with the correct path and cd (enter) adb devices (enter) - nada.

Any way to completely disable them? Running AOKP and would like a Nexus-like experience. I know we can disable the lights, I don't want them to work at all.
Get a button remaper app and remap it to focus for all 4 keys.

Get a root explorer. and either mod/delete System > Usr > Keylayout > melfas_touchkey.kl
I would delete it. Then they shouldnt work at all.
EDIT: you are going to have to delete more than just that one. I believe you are going to have to edit Generic.kl and possibly qwerty.kl as well. Let me extract them and look at them side by side in notepad++
Okay here flash this attached file and you should be golden. ive edited all appropriate files.
Thanks for the zip, it works perfectly.

Nope the zip just disables the ability to press them. Lights and everything else controlling them will well should still work. The zip just says to android that search menu back and home buttons aren't available. Just the same as a galaxy nexus or tablet would.

You should probably make a little thread with that enabler/dis-abler zip in the apps section of t989 because i'm sure there are alot more people that would find this very useful..
Just sayin, and thanks

When you connect your phone to the charger, does it charge? If not, then the USB main board is loose or broken. Luckily, it's attached to the motherboard via ribbon cable and can easily be checked and replaced.
If it charges fine, try this:
1) Launch the phone app
2) Dial ##3424#
3) Press "Qualcomm USB Setting"
4) Choose " MTP + ADB "
5) Press OK button

yes and no. there are ways around it such as booting that in disabled mode and then hibernating but if you reboot you must follow that procedure again to install unsigned drivers in windows 8

I don't know what happened. I was about to unlock the device. I had it plugged in to my PC and clicked reboot to put it in recovery.
And now it will not turn on at all. I push power and nothing. I plug it in to the charger and no charging icon comes up. I plug it in to my PC and it comes up as QHSUSB_DLOAD with a needs troubleshooting status.
Any help please.

Just remember always take your time and lastly you can't brick it if you did nothing to it. just telling it to reboot without actually running any commands shouldn't change anything.

[Q] Safe Mode Troubleshooting

HI, I have been having a Terrible lag issue with my SGH-497 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1). I can Swype or tap something and it take almost 5-8 second for it respond. I want to troubleshoot the reason behind this. I have successfully started it in Safe mode (starting it and holding down the volume down button). Here, everything seems to work perfectly. On a computer, I can usually figure out what the culprit is, but on the droid, I can't. How do I figure out what app is causing my issue? If I go to the task manager on droid, and clear the RAM, it would close about 40 apps... too many to try one by one...lol
Thanks in advance!
Just a quick tip: you can reboot into safe mode by holding down the power button until the power off prompt pops up. Then long press power off.

Yeah, I went into safemode. In the task manager there are 0 (zero) apps running. When I clear the RAM, 20 apps close..... but no clue what they are. My tablet also responds much better in safemode.... that's what I'm trying to figure out what is causing the lag...
