i see that the ZIP size is 350Mb. If im not mistaken this is huge, correct? other ICS roms i have played with (on Xoom, and Galaxy Nexus) are usually right around the 100Mb area. Are these roms going to reach 100Mb once the great devs start figuring out the bugs? What is it that is making it be triple what other ICS roms are in size?
(dont mean this in any hateful way at all, this is to be expected as this came out....yesterday. im just wondering)

the nexus roms you are looking at are probably CM9 roms right ? those roms are always around 100mb. This rom is a touchwizzz rom and has a lot of bloat that's why it's so big....

ah yes that does make sense. thanks . i realized some of the roms i speak of are CM9, the other one im mentioning is Codename Android , both are greeeatttt. i thought cm9 was my **** tho, till i tried Codename Android. On the xoom it is much better than the KANG CM9 (at the moment).
does anyone even want touchwiz with ICS for their GS2? i havent heard anyone say anything good about it. any chance youd strip this one down, remove twiz and bloat? i guess that will probably come later once the issues are worked out
Some tips: enable gpu 2d acceleration, disable/freeze att apps.

I am not a professional dev like most of your favs. I just like to make my own roms, and just happened to think would be nice to release.
This is based off the CM7.1 Android 2.3.4 build thats been in the making. It does not have the Video GTalk. That will have to come later. But this is VERY fast and VERY smooth IMHO.
I loaded this over RoyalGinger and all it did was speed it up a lil bit.
Loaded clean and works flawless. I saw no issues. If you find any please let me know and if it's in my power i will fix it.

We basically did the build around the same time. You could download either. I posted mine just as a mirror as I doubt anything changed in the source since dragon did his build. Only thing I've noticed so far is there is a little delay with the screen coming on when you wake it.

I have Royal Ginger with this loaded on top of it. I didn't wipe and everything works fine. I did a wipe and still had fully functional device. So i went back and Restored RoyalGinger reloaded Android 2.3.4 over it so i can flash Updated Gapps.

OK. The whole reason for me getting this build and putting in the work was for VIDEO GTALK. I got voice chat to work with no problem over wifi. Haven't tried 3g or 4g as i'm in Augusta, Ga and 4G sucks butt here. If somebody figures out how to get Video working on it. Please let me know. Kept saying i wasn't configured for vid chat at this time and wife is calling me for dinner so i gotta go.

I flashed over build 58 and my email is fine. But it was setup before so the settings just transferred over.

well title says it all, i got directed to come to xda for help. ive had smartphones but never have done or seen a phone rooted. i just picked up the gs2 coming from sensation and my hotspot is now locked down to having to pay 15 a month. was told by rooting you pickup free hotspot and sometimes paid apps. can someone provide me with download links and instructions step by step so i dont mess up my phone. thanks in advance.

Just a heads up. Its against the forum rules to ask for paid apps for free. Not trying to be a jerk or anything.
I found that the method mentioned in the stickies in the Dev section pretty clear and straightforward, its noob friendly unlike the MTG4G which are a great mess. Once rooted, install titanium backup and freeze/delete the tethering manager app and you should be able to tether for free. You can get free apps while being on stock........

ok so i figured out the root...just used the volume key long press and installed supreruser and odin 1.85 and titanium pro. now that i,m here how do i installl roms? this being my first time at this was wrecking my brain getting to this point any tips an advice on which roms would be appreciated. ty

To flash the kernel:
-Boot into recovery
-Wipe Cache
-Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache
-Install zip from SD Card
-Reboot and let it sit for a few minutes for the OS to load up completely (about 5 minutes should suffice)
-Reboot once more and install SetCPU which can be found in the Market for $1.99 or free here
Once installed open it up and AutoDetect Speeds and then select form the drop down menu SmartassV2 and you should be set

A kernel is pretty much the main computing core of an operating system. If you're using the one that came with Jug's rom, you will experience some lag and random reboots. Eugenes kernel gives you better performance and battery life (if you wanna think about it that way). Just flash it, you wont regret it.
It's not hard at all either, pretty much the same process as flashing a ROM but instead you flash another zip file.

Correct. Wipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot then wait like 5-10 mins then reboot again
If the only thing you wabt to do is tether, then (only if u jave a 5gig or more plan) you can call tmo and they have a promotion going on right now that will give u tethering for free. Just give them a call, in the auto system say plans, then hit 0 and tell the rep about the promotion.

-camera!! yes, it works
-CM stuff, like weather on lockscreen, a power menu that can reboot, go into recovery, etc.
-thats all i know for now. the rest is the basic stuff, like wifi, bluetooth, etc.
what doesnt work:
-i am not too sure myself, so if anyone wants to keep looking for stuff, please do and inform us so i can put it under here
-heat issues because of the kernel. With pretty much anything that requires audio and having headphones inserted will cause the phone to heat up

1. wipe all /system, /cache/ dalvik-cache, and /data
2. flash ROM
3. flash gapps
4. flash LowMicFix.zip (so Google Now and other apps can recognize voice better. mic is too soft)

tips:
if you want to record video, download videocam illusion. go into the settings, and change the audio frequency from 48kHz to 44.1kHz. there ya go, recording!
dont want a green line on your 5mp pics? check out Camera JB+ on the play store (or if you can find it elsewhere ). it works fine for me
full wiping from time to time may help in the lagginess of the ROM. this one is up to the user
a cache and dalvik cache wipe may be effective. also, fix permissions. that can be helpful as well

Status update #1: Dev-Host is being a PITA. so, google drive will be the new mirror for now
Status update #2: i uploaded the 7-19 version. camera works, since i replaced some files from the 7-20 version. backlights seem to be working as well, even with auto-brightness
Status update #3: apparently, the backlights keep going on and off at random times with auto brightness. strange...
Status update #4: looks like i never updated this in a while lol. ok, so cm things from cm9 are now starting to come together in cm10 . bluetooth is finally working...well it discovers devices now. 8-14-2012 is the latest build. go get it!

....thats not what i do! lol. i meant like in the night or something. a group shot outside in the night on the beach or idk, just some place. i know a phone camera flash doesnt do much, but it does something
gps connects very quickly. well for me, it connected within a second! then again...im on wifi lol. on HSPA (faux 4G) i got connected within 5 seconds. seems pretty good to me

Well its supposed to connect fast on wifi, it uses the IP address to help pinpoint your location.
What makes a difference is if it locks on the network, cause wifi ain't everywhere ya know.

My photos and music won't show up on my gallery and apollo, just like on Cnote74's jellybean rom... it's almost like the apps can't read my sdcard? If i take a picture, then it will show on my gallery, but just THAT picture. It's like it ignores my sdcard? Can anyone help me?

We have discovered that the FG builds have NO ROAMING OPTION..this won't affect boost flashers though
Here we go!!!! Just wanted to say i tried to do a helluva lot more with this rom but its a complete disaster trying to theme the FG series so far, so i went in a totally different direction...stayed stock...i decided to pull calks tweaks from his e4gt series of roms(thanks calk for everything youve done in the community and for our phones!!!) and added venum's personal tweaks, slapped in team venum recovery modded 2 images to give calk some respect and called it a day...this rom is VERY FAST and VERY STABLE, again, its totally stock, for all you guys out there that miss having a stock calk rom, here's what you're looking for..i apologize for the massive size of the rom, it seems when you remove even basic apps, compile and flash, fg20 gets very angry with you and makes it so the touchscreen is non responsive, no worries though, once booted you seem to be able to remove what you like...
Flashing instructions:
I always recommend going back to el26 cwm(safest way to do it)
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Calk's format all(you can get this on any of calk's rom threads)
Flash rom
Enjoy

Sprint users:
In order to use mms you need your msl #, there are.numerous ways of getting this and they are posted all over xda, get it and then:
1.go to dial pad
2: press ##3282#
3.press edit
4. Enter msl
5. Click other
6. Click mmsc url
7. delete boost info and write this http://mms.sprintpcs.com
8.reboot
If you have any issues with market, apps youve paid for are showing you havent paid for them, then go to accounts and sync in settings and make sure your gmail is fully syncing
If that doesnt work, go to application settings, playstore, and wipe cache, wipe data, force stop, disable, then enable...reboot and should be good
Boost users:
Boost hotspot is not hacked, use wifi.tether instead
Not.sure.if a hacked ff18 sprint hotspot would work, if someone wants to try flashing it let me know and ill change op and link to it
Everything you would find on a stock rom is confirmed working

[Here we go again....soo good to be back on ff18 you have no idea...ok, so we have a stock ff18 rom with team venum's recovery kernel baked in, calks tweaks from his series of e4gt roms, venum's personal tweaks added and a few tweaks ive found on xda...very slim, and VERY FAST
The gear:
Calk's bare rom converter used to trim the fat
Calks camera app added(can take pics while on a phone call)
5mb limit, clearer pic mms.apk(changed icon back to stock)(thanks guy who posted this in t&a!!!!!!!!!)
Hacked hotspot(thanks rujelus!!!)
Flashing instructions:
Full wipe recommended, that means....
Wipe cache
Wipe data
Wipe dalvik cache
Calks format all(you can find this in any of his actual threads)

If you use an overclock app like tegrak, it takes a bit for tweaks to get used to that, i overclocked with tegrak paid version to 1600 mhz, 1350 core voltage, and 267 ghz, phone rebooted halfway through stability check, tried again after reboot to settings listed above and it's stable at that now with no reboots(just fyi)

hit he back button till it takes you back to the " click here to download. "... it will then start the clock to download... i dont know why you have to do this but it happens all the time with 4shared
