Hello guys!,
i want to ask 1 question, do i need to unlock bootloader to root n flash custom rom? or i just can root n flash custom rom without unlock bootloader?
sorry for newbie question i came from galaxy ace section
dude you are not new to the forum...you have 50+ posts..so you should know that this is the General Section..Questions goes in Q&A Section..
Well the answer to your Q is YES and NO..
you do not need to unlock the bootloader to root and flash few custom ROMs..
but if want to have many options of ROM and custom Kernels then YES..you need to unlock the bootloader.. and unlocking bootloader is highly recommeneded..

Hello everyone,
I have just become a new Android user and I'm absolutely loving it. I heard about rooting and how it could be dangerous as well as beneficial. I got a SIM-unlocked HTC One V (GSM Version) and I'm too worried to root it without knowing the margin of risk that comes with rooting it. If it is little to no risk could someone please post a tutorial on how to check your firmware version (for example: IML74K), and how to flash a custom kernel? I also heard about one-click rooting. Is it safe and what precautions should I make prior to rooting in case something goes wrong?
Thanks in advance,
-M

I rooted my One V. Couldn't resist. I have a question about custom ROMs. Do I have to do something in CWM Touch Recovery before flashing a custom ROM?

Hi guys, I just got my hands on a Xperia ZL... it's quite neat! But I wish I could install CM or a custom rom on it. Ok, I tried to check the bootloader and it states:
Rooting status:
Bootloader unlock allowed: no

Is it really locked?? I wanted to unlock it to change to a diferent phone career (which now is not really a problem), but now it seems I won't be able to install a custom rom can it be done? Do I need to specify any other characteristic in here?

Like 3 year olds say... " no means NO!" lol
Unfortunately you are S.O.L for unlocking the BL
Damn, I haven't done anything to this device! I don't understand why it is locked like that Some guy wants to charge me for doing it (I bet he will try to get one of those unlock codes from unlocking sites), but then I think it will be impossible. Thanks for the help!

No problem!
One good thing is that you can flash stock based Rom's, and we have one of the best out there in Niaboc's ExistenZ Rom.
Flash that Rom, and used the xposed modules, and you can manipulate it to your liking just as much as aosp or CM roms.
Especially xposed modules like "HK Themer" let you install CM themes to stock roms!
Give it a shot! ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385313
Sorry if this is a silly question, I have been looking through the ROM forums and am a little confused.
Is it possible to use any 4.42 or 4.43 roms with a locked bootloader?
Thanks in advance

As far as I know, it is not possible. This is because it is required to change the Kernel to use these versions of android. You can enjoy many of the locked bootloader ROM's, some of them are pretty good.
Thank you for the reply
So I presume no Kitkat for my phone?

G3 is easy to root and bump (install TWRP)
Bootloader is locked and Bump gets around the lock.
Root using the correct tool for your model check original dev section
Flash Bump'd twrp using flashify and your golden
The lollipop is official for most devices except carrier specific which i'm unsure about

A lot of your questions can be answered via the FAQ thread. Have a read there. It's what I read through to determine if this was the right phone for me (rootable, custom ROMs, etc):

Bump is the workaround of locked bootloader ? So flashing let's say twrp from official site will brake the unlock?
