Use ghostery on computer with firefox. I used to be on chrome but firefox seems just as fast and ghostery blocking trackers is more complete. Plus I think google is spying on me.;-) Need an app like this in android. Don't see any of the android web browsers with addon like this.

Are looking to just block tracking in the browser?
Does disabling cookies in the stock browser not get what you are looking for?
If you disable cookies it breaks websites. Ghostery does not. Yes it is within a web browser. I know google knows all that's why I put in the " ;-) ". I just don't want to make it easy for them.

You can download Opera Mobile 12 from this dev site and download Ghostery extension from this addon site

Not exactly a Galaxy Nexus exclusive question, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to alter the Chrome User Agent to force Desktop version of websites. Perhaps similar to what ICS Browser Plus does. Thanks!

Chrome now has an option to request the desktop version of the site you are viewing. Just hit the menu button and check the tickbox.
I noticed that, however, I was wondering if there was a way to set chrome to default load the desktop version. For some reason, mobile sites bug the hell out of me

If you hit the settings button and check the box for "Request Desktop Site", every site you browse to from that point on will load in desktop mode until you uncheck the box. This is how it works for me.

Does anyone know if the stock CM10.1 browser is able to sync with my Google Chrome desktop bookmarks? I've tried to search it up, but have been unable to find any information regarding it. Chrome for Android isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be.

Nope. Get CMarks from the Play Store, awesome app.

Well actually, as you posted, I was just able to get my bookmarks to sync without any external applications. I had to remove encryption to my bookmarks to allow syncing of bookmarks.
Everything else on the phone works fine, but the Facebook app crashes multiple times a day.
I have to go to the home screen and then recent apps and swipe it away to get it working again. Sometimes even that doesn't work, and I have to go to the task manager and end the task before it'll work. Any ideas why?

its application's fault, not your note 2.... official facebook app has been known to crash very frequently
One of the more stable versions is 2.0, I use that but to be honest I in some ways prefer the website alternative. Bookmark the Facebook site in your browser, add a shortcut to this on your home screen and it's a somewhat better way to use Facebook. I was getting annoyed with it being so slow and running in the background so much. Each to their own though!

I don't know where this comes from because it works pretty much ok in my experience.

I'm trying to avoid using the Facebook and Messenger apps altogether to free ram. The messaging in the browser and Opera Mini work fine but I don't get notifications for messages. Is there any alternative to get notifications?

Does it notify you when you get Messages on FB?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Free mobile app
fast : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.fastpro.com
( you can get the free on the market)
browser fb built in add-on : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.UCMobile.intl&hl=fr
I use UC browser, I like it a lot, but I'm not really on fb, so it's simple and enough for me. I don't think you can get any notification though.

Yeah, I tried UC browser out before, Ran pretty well. A little bit jumpy when scrolling every now and then for me but was pretty smooth. I've been using Stock Browser for Messages and Opera Mini for scrolling the Feed. Really just need Notifications for messages, Thanks for your input.
I don't have texting on my phone anymore so I've been using Facebook for messaging. No good alternatives to messenger or to get FB message notifications?
