As the title suggests, my SuperUser keeps crashing on me. I tried to get on AdAway but it told me I needed Root access. I thought that was odd since I am rooted, so I tried another app and got the same message. Went on SuperUser and a message came up in the notification bar saying, "Your SU binary is outdated." So, I went to preferences and pressed update su binary. A couple seconds later I got a force close. App restarted, tried again, got same message. Booted into recovery mode, flashed update.zip in attempt to re-root but to no avail,. SuperUser still won't update. Anyone know what's happening and how to fix it?

Hello all, I tried searching through some threads but couldn't find anything. I have racings ics build on my phone and I was able to install superuser but for some reason when I try to open root explorer or TB the prompt to allow the apps doesn't show up. I've tried updating superuser and wiping cache and fixing permissions. Has anyone had this problem?

i know this has been answered, but for future - did you check the settings in SuperUser?
there is a way change how/when they appear.
Yeah I checked that and messed atound with the prompt settibg and ut didn't do anything. Flashing the new superuser file provided fixed it though

I have flashed that SuperUser app more than 20 times but it still doesn't install. CWM says installation is successful, but it doesn't pop up.

I just rooted my new Verizon Galaxy Nexus (4.0.4) from my Mac using this method : http://goo.gl/7BnkU
I rebooted, and I see Superuser in the app tray, so I install Rom Manager from the Play Store. When I try to install Clockwork recovery from Rom Manager, I get the error, "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" The SU prompt never pops up.
Could someone help please?

flash your recovery via fastboot, so that you dont experience issues with it later on. flashing recovery via rom manager youre almost guaranteed to have issues, like your recovery disappearing, later on at some point.
When I try to flash CWM via fastboot, I get, "error, cannot load." Also, none of my root apps are able to get SU permissions, and no prompt ever comes up from SU. What is going on?
Have you installed busy box??

Make sure you are actually rooted, there's an app in the market called root checker or something like that.

Same problem here. I have a VZW Nexus and I followed the steps to root and install CWM recovery, and when I rebooted none of these apps prompted for SU allow: Rom Toolbox Pro. ES File Explorer, Rom Manager and Busybox Installer by JRummy. Here is the rooting process I followed : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392336
I'm kind of new to Android, but I have decent computing experience. My problem is that I recently rooted my SPH-L710 (stock rom) and when I ran Busybox I received the error message "There was a problem opening a shell with root access. This is either being caused by superuser/supersu or by a device that is improperly rooted. Try removing the superuser/supersu permissions, uninstalling this app," etc etc.
I have attempted various methods using things like root explorer and terminal emulator to remove/ change the permissions so I might delete the su file, to no avail as the phone isn't properly rooted. One thread on here mentioned that formatting the sd card - I assume it meant the phone itself - would do the trick. After that, I would of course have to flash a rom, correct? Thanks for your time.
I would do the rooting process over again, with a new download of all files.
Do you have cwm or another custom recovery working?

I'm running CWM. I've successfully rooted a few times before, but this last time it didn't work. I unrooted and then rooted again three times and even re-downloaded all the files (cwm, odin, rom) but I can't seem to fix this. I'll attempt it again and hopefully it'll take this time.
Fantastic! I flashed the su binary zip, rebooted and superuser was already to go and phone is now properly rooted. Thanks very much! :good:
Thank you!

So I've gotten my SPH-D710VMUB.FL26 rooted but not, Busybox says it's rooted, root checker says it's rooted, superuser is installed with binary, but superuser denies everything & changing the settings doesn't help ? Anybody know what I'm doing wrong ?

I have the very same SPH-D710VMUB.FL26 but I haven't been able to root it. I have used a couple methods, but all failed. Can I ask you what method did you use? Mine is a VirginMobile model. I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks...
How did you install the rom? I've been using one clicks from RWilcos repository with no issues.
PC Odin the one click of your choice and after the green pass light should be good. Maybe redownload and reinstall?

I think I need to do a Flashback on my Tablet so I can truly root it. I've tried a few ways to root it and all have failed. SuperUser won't open at all. Tried to Towelroot, even tried Stump Root and Stump says the device is already rooted, but I know it's not...
Just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum.

Got CWM into come up, but can't find the SU Zip file... So I just did the reboot from CWM... Now all it does is run a bit slower. SU trys to open, but stats Binary issues. Nothing changed, but slower device now.

When I got CWM opened I did a System wipe factory reset.
Then tried to use towelroot again... Didn't work...
Every link I found to SU was to the google play store... not a Zip folder...

Ok was able to run the SU Zip through CWM and had it rebooted after it was completed. Once it was on. I looked around on the Tablet and SU isn't installed. Running Root Checker Pro and it says the Devices appears to be running very Slow... Been on this screen for a few mins already.
Edit: Went back into CWM and Re-Booted... When I clicked on it a new page loaded and had an option to Fix Root... Choose it and Re-booted.
Downloaded SU from Google Play and it worked now... HUGE THANKS....
Well Crap... Says it's rooted. Xmod is getting Permission from Super User.. Mod installed in the Game... launch from xMod and the Game Crashes.
Ok opened SU and it triggered KNOX... Clicked to let SU to try and disable KNOX.... Been on that Screen for 5min so far...I also get a Security Notice Stating Unauthorized access to a secured area has been blocked.
..........................................................................
Unistalled SU and Restalled it. Let SU try and Fix KNOX again... Fixed it in just a Few Seconds.
Wroking 100% Now. The last issue was with XMod not the root.
BIG THANKS
