Sounds like maybe a WIP or something in the Title might be called for, that way you can get more useful feedback not just "mah sound donts works, plz halp meh"
has anyone tried the edited phone apk from the ns 3g development thread?

Actually this looks interesting. Has anyone given this a go yet?

I literally just finished installing. On first impression, the dpi seems to be set a little low, possibly. things are somewhat hard to read.
First boot, I can not get rotation to work...maybe a reboot is in order. I haven't tried the phone apk I posted above yet, but I will & I'll report back. Hopefully it works, then this would be a HUGE step closer to stable enough for daily use!
btw, this requires a gapps pack...just FYI
the phone fix.zip does work and my rotation is good

you have to enable auto rotation in order for it to work properly
yes, thank you...it was enabled. a reboot fixed it. I can't get the phone.apk fix to work for me...did you actually successfully place a call? SMS/MMS don't work for me either. In the notifications, I get an error message "no internet connection" but I'm actually using tethering to type this post right now lol
Just for anyone who's curious....don't change the dpi. it will reset itself to phone mode if you do, and the only way to get it back to tablet mode is to reflash the rom.

Wifi/3g works. You must've had a bad flash. No one else is experiencing this problem, sorry.
I couldn't get data, 3g or wifi when using iScream kernel. Reflashed rom over it and both worked again

Odd. You guys are the first experiencing this..
I will flash this and see about the wifi 3g I flashed the quatrimus and it worked finme . Are you going to be doing regular dev and releases on this? cannot wait to get a camera and mms working.
UPDATE : flashed this several times with and without the iscream.... With iscream no wifi or 3g at all even toggling airplane mode and data on and off. Without iscream i still get no 3g after multiple flashes. Flashed several times wiping everything several times each ... No go on the 3g. Wifi does work however.

Actually that p500 rom is already ported to the ov by tdm and a score of other devs on another site! Gannon thanks a million for taking this on. More devs = more progress. I am not a dev or i would be onboard!

No oc option?
I just flashed the ROM + Kernel and confirm that unless you flash the ROM AFTER flashing the kernel, WiFi refuses to turn on(I don't have 3G in my area so I cannot confirm that)
Flashed the ROM after the Kernel and it worked fine seems like a very nice ROM so far, just wish camera worked ):
yup no 3g dunno what happened gannon if you used the other rom it worked great for me I would love to have this rom on my phone but no 3g is no bueno
Will flash soon and update if wifi is working won't flash the kernel though

I have no complaints about this rom, it's more stable than I thought it would be, in fact it runs unbelievably smooth for ICS. I don't have service on my OV anyway so I can't really confirm anything with the 3G

It's OK I've sorted it!!
To fix this issue...
Make sure everything is updated to the latest version including Facebook App (I say that because mine is and it's now fixed)
Open the Facebook app and, via Account -> Log Out
Lock your phone
Swipe the Facebook ticker and you should get the message "You need to be logged in to use this" or something like that
Click log in and allow the Samsung Galaxy app the permissions it requires
Should be fixed!
Please not I'm not a developer, this is my first android phone and I've had it for two days, so I won't be able to answer any technical questions however I figured it would be a Facebook permissions problem and using a bit of trial and error and a bit of common sense I've fixed MY issue. This might not work for YOUR issue.
I hope so though

Good, I would imagine it would work for most people. At least I hope it would.
This is jbourn27's bluemod theme but with some changes.
Changes:
Added more space between the signal cluster and battery to make icon spacing more uniform
Removed brightness slider (personal preference)
Changed some of the notification toggle text
Removed "Deviant Development" from bottom of pulldown (personal preference)
I have attached a flashable zip for both infamous and jedi mind trick. Please make a backup of systemui.apk located in /system/app and lidroid-res.apk/infamous-res.apk located in /system/framework before flashing. If for some reason this doesn't work for you restore your backups.

It'a beautiful theme. But, without the brightness slider, I can't use it. Bummer, because I LOVE the what you've done. I just use that slider a LOT.
Worked great, thanks so much! I hated that brightness slider, and much prefer the color. I also like the removal of "Deviant Development." Does anyone know if the issue with the torch off-toggle freezing the phone for a few seconds has been fixed? It's more annoying than I would have thought.
While I'm thinking of it, I was also wondering if anyone might know how to prevent the screen from waking when changing volume or getting a notification? I tried the guide that recommends editing the keylayout files, with success, but I would REALLY like to be able to toggle the volume with the screen off, without turning the screen on. I'd also enjoy it if notifications didn't cause the screen to turn on, and poweramp to jump around the song I'm listening to.

Overview
There are two 4.4.2 codebases right now in existence, one for V5 and one for V6; this one is based on V6..
I mean, this phone is pretty similar resource-wise to the firmware this came from. the resolution should probably be fine but I'll need feedback in every regard since this is really experimental
Working
- Unknown
Not working
- Unknown
Notes
This shares the same codebase as the firmware it came from and everything should be function with connectivity and stuff; but I'll need ADB logs of any error if possible.
This is JFLTE multibase and should work fine on any of the S4 models that fall under that umbrella.

I tried to change the DPI to 320 (all elements look well), and also 400 (everything fits in the notif panel), but both gave me a FC wich would not let me go to the Home screen which is why I could not test out more with those DPI numbers.
Can the DPI change have made that FC (settings) ?

Hello Paranoid Dev
I'm wondering why anyone has not mentioned about a bug in Recents.
If you want clear all recents apps, the (X) button on top right doesn't really working due to Recents Apps overlay.
The App Overlay is causing the button to stay visible in background, If you try to touch (X) button to clear the list, Which ever app is on overlay of that button will Open that App.
Basically to clear all apps from Recents, I have to manually clear one by one.
Here is the Pic link to show the visible bug

Plus your title suggests this IS a rom thread.
---------- Post added at 12:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 PM ----------
Yes, please don't start threads with [Rom]... It implied it is a thread containing an actual rom. ?
@mkdroid - I edited your thread's title because you made it the exact same as the Development thread title - that could be pretty misleading. Please refrain from doing that kind of thing in the future. Thank you.
Also, once you post a question in the development thread (assuming that is allowed by that developer) you should be done - no need to open an entire thread about the problem unless you are receiving no answer, or an unsatisfactory one, via the already on-topic thread.
Thanks!

I tried using both AOSP and the Google Camera, then other camera apps with the same flash problem. I then flashed back the stock 4.1.2 Official ROM to try to start all over again. I checked the camera with the stock and the problem occurred again. It seems somewhere along the way with flashing the camera in the phone started to fail. So it might actually be a hardware problem. It's an old phone with a stuffed camera (can still take pictures without flash, but somehow the flashlight app still seems to work). Might just flash back ParanoidAndroid 4.4.4 again, as it seems the problem is of the device itself.
Some users with weak batteries also reported this issue -- I think it may be something to do with how long the flash is. With earlier phones, brown-outs would happen upon LED flashing, so maybe this is a similar problem.
The lengthened flash causes too much current to be pulled from the battery, but since CPU's need more power than earlier phones, the entire device shuts down. As for the flashlight working, I think that it's at a lower brightness (or turned on gradually at the millisecond level). Either way, the symptoms are very similar.
