Shazam.
Roms soon I hope.

Seeing as it's designed for tablets and the SDK is heavily unoptimized I don't think there's a point to porting this to the Desire.

Google said, Honeycomb would be also available for smartphones, and porting is never impossible
would be cool!

No, they recently said, that HC wob't be for smartphones - maybe Android 4.0 will be the OS for smartphones and tablets together.
My source: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...ay-never-come-to-mobiles-922897#ixzz1BgVwgrMr
doesn't stop people trying to port it to a smartphone
I'm looking forward to seeing if there are any stable roms come of this... obviously its not the final but still - interesting to see!
I really hope that there will be a phone version of honeycomb!
looking at some of the news thats out at the moment the default launcher crashes but it seems like there is some background for phones in there... (and smaller than tablet screens)
i wonder if the final release might be port-able...
Engadget has a post of the SDK running at a resolution of 800 * 480, so it seems that Honeycomb has two lay-outs in it and uses the one most suited for the resolution it's running.
* the post : http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/28/android-3-0-honeycomb-emulator-has-traces-of-smartphone-support/
So please stop yelling that it will NEVER come to a phone.

I could swear Google said it would - but I can't find a link.
Though Sony Ericcson said in January that they would use Honeycomb on their arc phones.
I was wandering what happened with that gingerbread music player... the one that circled around the interwebs back in December but was kind of buggy at the time? Is there a way it could be extracted?

The one that looks like the 3D Gallery? Also to point out, the SDK isn't even released yet, it's the previews.
I've seen that honeycomb has been ported to the EVO but with limited functionality.. Are their any full functioning honeycomb ROMs or hybrids, that I've over looked?
No its for tablets only

Not much going on with honeycomb but plattypus is working on porting the HTC View over to the HTC Evo 4G

False. It's on the N1 I believe, and has been ported to a couple other devices with some limited functionality as well. So not entirely true.

No there aren't but plenty of people have made mods and themes to make it look as honeycomb-ish as possible. If you have a newer Sense-based ROM, give this a run. Thyrus is one of the best out there, if not the best. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221387
Since we have NEON support would it be a good venture to port over sense 4.0 when a good leak comes out? How many people would use it?

What does NEON have to do with the Sense skin? NEON only helps with decoding multimedia.
omap4 does have neon support.

"OMAP 4 uses ARM-Cortex A9s with ARMs SIMD engine (Media Processing Engine, aka NEON) which may have a significant performance advantage in some cases over Nvidia Tegra 2s Cortex-A9s with non-vector floating point units."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OMAP#OMAP_4
Neon is needed to do Sense. Thats why it was never able to be ported to any of the old Galaxy S devices.

What? Galaxy S uses the Hummingbird SoC which supports the NEON instruction set.
I thought people bought Nexus devices to get away from manufacturer add-ons like TouchWiz, Sense, Motoblur, etc.

Absolutely
But I respect people who want sense on their phones, matter of choice.
Yeah neon is old as hell. Droid 1 did neon.
Id personally like to see an optimized sense port. At the very least, something to play with.

Eh, have you seen Sense ICS?
Looks like poo.
There is no point to even try to put a a sense rom on a Samsung. Without a HTC kernel your just gonna get some crazy hacked version that will never run properly. If you like sense that bad I would suggest sticking to an HTC phone.

As you know sir Vivek is busy as well sir Maroc but I have an idea but I don't have that much knowledge about porting etc.. So I want some help
As you know sir Vivek got some builds that were booting up he makes it from source. But some users uploaded some patches to make wifi, BT work etc.
I know this idea will be a build not 100% from source but: If we pick a booting build from Vivek and apply or make some patches (like some users already did) Can't we get a more stable built then for daily use ??

if you want a device with absolutely original cyanogenmod support then go on their website and see what is supported and then you can choose better, but I find the mini at least not well.for me this device sux.

Well, I would like a Galaxy S2 but the price x.X because I'm saving money for a new PC I really need a new one my laptop died and now I'm running a 2004 Pentium 4 computer slow !! Otherwise I already bought a Galaxy SII ^^. And about the Mini I saw in some video's on youtube that the screen quality is bad compared to the Y
in video quality there is only 6 ppi difference
pratically its nothing
viveks work doesn't work at all...if you want to start, you can try with the one razor has uploaded or joyos.
gps, wifi, and other stuff can be fixed but the major problem is graphics, we don't have graphics drivers for broadcom, sgy sucks really bad and all dev are tired with this device.
as OP said we can try to make a cm7 for sgy from vivek's source build but it will have the greenish graphics problem afaik

If I'm not mistaken, our port attempt is comes from ace. the graphic driver is working but we still have that greenish colour. based on this fact there's a possibility that we could use the graphic driver from ace's source.
Motafoca and Squadzone Working
yeap ace and some other devices have broadcom board but they also have separate graphics chip like adreno 200 or so, and this is where sgy lacks

the graphic chip might different but as you can see in those port attempt the driver are working on our graphic chip. the dev are complaining that they could find the one for sgy but as I've said they can try to use the one from ace.
This can be a stupid question but why can't they port the graphics driver from stock rom then ?

i Think, you are talking too much, (broadcom board?)+adreno200 (Qualcomm)???
Dont say shi*
I think they use to port but now they have started working from source.Though raspberry pi is a different architecture, they are using same gpu,and even broadcom is helping them.Fk them .When something is cheap,,there is always a catch.
So, now that the SDK has been released and the source will be available for developers in July, will we be receiving an official update from Archos?

Even if we did, I wouldn't expect one until August or September.

I'd rather have a proper, fully working ICS firmware- because of not fixed problems I still stick to 3.2.80 (maybe firmware/kernel is optimised for "new" 1 GB models)
It seems like JB is not that different from ICS so we'll probably get it.
Biggest thing I noticed is the touch animation based proc management.
I haven't noticed any problems with ICS on the new Turbo ICS with surdu's ROM.

No we wont get it. Not from archos officially anyways. How long has android 4.0.4 been out and who's still sticking with 4.0.3 ?

4.0.7 is "internal" Archos build number, not Android version (which is still 4.0.3)

Yes what he said. Archos uses the similar numbering system as android for their official firmwares, however their firmwares are updated more often than android, so the number is higher.
is there much difference between .03 and .04?(excuse my ignorance on this point ).
The reason I ask is that testing all apps and ecosystem for a minor update won't be a high priority if the end user benefits are minimal.
HOWEVER...a larger update to that of JB might be worked on.
To be fair i half considered getting a nexus 7 and selling my g9 80. But I'm pretty happy with this. More interested in getting a galaxy nexus and selling one and or both of my optimus 2x or xplay.

Seems to be a good once-over of the changes with lots of info and pix:

Keep in mind that 4.1 is where Adobe stops Flash support, so save the APK before an upgrade, and see if it just might work...
YMMV
@above
I heard some guy that has a Galaxy Nexus and 4.1 say that Flash Works.
i heard that flash certified devices can install Flash on jellybean.
