[Q] How to control gpu clock and voltage?

I tried tegrak but it won't work even though we have the same gpu as i9000
Any apps or method?
Btw I'm on AOKP build 33
Thanks

I know, but exactly how?

You can use Glados kernel with Glados APP and change the Voltage and Clock GPU...
i use franco kernel and his app
It depends on your kernel.
You can flash the "Trinity kernel" and it support many gpu and cpu clock.
I'm using the 13xx cpu and 512 gpu now, very stable.
About the performance, Quadrant 3D mark score is 60 fps up all the time.
The link on the xda is here:

Any free app?

No matter how many different ways you ask, it will still depend on your kernel.
Using francokernel? Use franco's app (not free).
Using GLaDOS? Use Ezekeel's app (not free).
Using leanKernel? I don't know if his support's GPU voltage control, but it's probably through LeanTweaks if it does.

Franco kernel 384MHz

I am using franco kernel r350 and CM 10.1. Is there a way to overclock the GPU to 384MHz?
From now on,(i think) franco will release kernel only with GPU at 512 mhz since he succeded to keep it stable. Maybe with some games your device will heat fast, but i can ensure to you that GPU clock set at 512 MHz wont give any issue and, also, will give you best performance ever. Of course, kernels for 4.2 need yet some optimizations

But I thought that the GPU is 309 MHz by default in his kernel. And I thought that 512MHz eats more battery?

The default (in stock kernel) is 307 MHz,the next step over clock is 384 and after there is 512 MHz. Me too thought that 512MHz was too high and that 384 was the best balance, but you have to choose: if you want better gaming performance, use franco kernel and disable thermal throttle: without overclocking the CPU your phone wont warm up over 80°C in most games. If you want to play games without sucking battery, use the stock galaxy nexus kernel (which sucks in gaming performance). Hope i've been useful. All the best and merry xmas!

If I don't play many games and I use 512MHz will I use a lot more battery than with 307 or 384?
How can I be sure that I have 512MHz? When I go to settings somewhere I see blackened 307MHz.
Merry Christmas to you too.
No,you won't save a lot of battery with GPU at the stock clock if you don't play heavy games. I don't know how to check the GPU clock in a better way than installing franco's app or trickster mod

Yes i know, but if you enter device monitor section in franco app you can control GPU voltage and clock. Of course,if you don't use your phone GPU is idle but if you pull down the notification bar and press back very very quickly,GPU goes to high speed and you'll see max freq

For me running at 512gpu allowed me to run 1200 CPU and underclock the hell out of it with no heat issues and it nets me better battery life.

Yes,you're right, but i usually leave the underclock at values defined by franco

Best gaming kernel for Jelly Bean?

I flashed CM10 a3 with for vivos kernel and 3D performance is really bad... Last time with xperiaICE v3.1, I got 2235 in quadrant 3D test with CWG kernel (i think)
So are there any kernel for gaming?

Thanks! I flashed the PRIVATE kernel and when i play temple run, it freezes and gave me a pop sound... I can't do anything so i pulled out the battery and restart... So i'm going to flash the MAXMEM kernel!

Actually though, use stock.
+ Seeders
+ KSM
+ Disable CPU rendering.
You mean stock kernel on CM10? Or what?

Stock kernel on CM10. When you wish to game simply overclock min frequency to 768 and max to 1401 and set governor to performance.
Why performance? Yr device may be very very hot

In JB its slightly better. Using ondemand is not quite good though. At the very least use interactive.

Be careful... the performance governor basically runs your CPU at MaxFreq all the time.
Except during Deep Sleeps.

Heh Due to personal reasons I rarely exceed 15-20 minutes gaming time. And I have a handy switch between my battery friendly profile and this gaming one.

Kernel Samepage Merging... you can find it under the settings/performance/memory management

I tried all and it seems ok... Now, just an experiment, i'm going to try PAC MAN JB ROM... Just to see if there are any perfomance difference...
I am using cm10 alpha 3 with forvivo v2 maxmem kernel.
subway surfers lags in my phone.
how can i disable CPU rendering ?
CPU rendering? What I know is Force GPU rendering and in order to disable that just go settings and under the Developer Option, scroll down till you see a check box and Force GPU Rendering then untick it... I thought its not ticked by default?
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda app-developers app
Disable CPU rendering is a flashable file found in Android Developments. Its quite old but gold. Enable KSM at memory settings under Performance. Also enable 16bit transparency but disable surface dithering.

Asphalt 7 lag

Im on a custom rom pa 2.99 oc 1.5ghz seeder on and on the performance governer but it still lags

It's not your phone making the game lag, but it's the game itself... It's poorly optimized :/ (yeah fck Gameloft) Graphics look SO UGLY too

Actually it has an automatic underclock feature to prevent your phone from overheating
Check out my thread here
When it underclocks, the CPU will run at approx. 810 MHz and make the game lags

Gpu overclock up to 320Mhz

Hello everybody!
Have anyone overclocked gpu on xperia s? I want to know how phone working and is any problems with it? I don't want to burn my motherboard.

I've overclocked mine using Trinity's kernel without any problems
Sent from my Xperia Slow LT26i
You need a unlocked bootloader
And a custom kernel
I recomend
Trinity kernel for general performance
Forzaferrarileo for a great balance
And doomkernel for stability and balance
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I use DooMKerneL and kernel tuner app to overclock gpu to upto 320Mhz.. and yeah, you need to have bootloader unlocked..

can u post here a diffrence between stock mhz and oc-ed one?? Im curious how much power does that give
Im ising pureslim 4.4 now so no oc for me now but just asking ;p
200mhz 2d
266mhz 3d
As oposed to
266mhz 2d
320mhz 3d
With an OC your ui will become smoother and games will lag less
Also some benchmarking apps prove that you can beat a samsung galaxy s3

There you go.. say thanks to envious_data.. couldn't have explained it better.. Normally the clock for,
2D - 200Mhz
3D - 266Mhz
But we can overclock gpu to obtain,
2D - 266Mhz
3D - 320Mhz
Phone will run with no lag at all.. And it's super smooth.. I haven't tested it's effect on the battery yet though.. I don't actually use it much.. Unless if I want to play Asphalt 8 without lag..
Hope you understood..
Thank me if I helped..

the effect on battery is almost un noticable,
this is because its a small change (as oposed to a cpu oc (much higher frequencys and higher voltages required)
xperia s uses gpu and cpu to display
and finaly most kernels with a gpu oc usualy have a gpu undervolt meaning per frequency step it uses less power as oposed to stock
<(`^´)> knowing is good!!!

I get this problem sometimes.. My 2D gpu frequencies cannot be changed.. it might be because of mp-decision but isn't DooMKerneL supposed to have its own mp-decision? if i cant get past this problem, can you give me a link to the latest trinity kernel for Xperia S..? If its not asking for too much..

doomkernel doesent have 2d overclock
doomkernel used the stock mpdecision
also no need for a 2d oc unless you dont like laggy opengl based games
