No that definetely shouldn't happen. You'll have to reflash your rom. I'm thinking of taking this down, it works for most, but some people are having problems..
Ya, its just stuck... if i go back to the program and hit the button again, it reboots and just loops again..

tried reflashing my rom, still boot looping.. going to have to factory reset.. its cool, happened to run titanium backup and Nova launcher backup yesterday... I know what "Use at your own risk" means... its all good. If you can sure this up, i'll try again.. Thanks

Takes long? more than 5five minutes?
Its not normal.... Do 4 wipes and recovery you Rom.
Do it manually.
Firs´t make sure u have all driver´s installed on your pc.
Gnex must be Rooted. Unlock is not needed.
Install Java Runtime Environment
Make sure you have LMT 0.96 or Button Savior installed otherwise you will be unable to navigate.
This is how you would edit your framework-res.apk yourself to hide Nav Bar:
Google: Donwload Apktool.
(Make sure apktool and framework-res.apk from your own ROM are in the same folder)
Extract apktool and open command line
1) Type: apktool if framework-res.apk in Command Prompt
2) Type: apktool d framework-res.apk in Command Prompt
3) Locate and edit bools.xml in folder location: framework-res/res/values/bools.xml
(Open with Notepad ++ and edit to "false" : "config_showNavigationBar">false)
4) Type: apktool b framework-res new.apk in Command Prompt
5) Open both original "framework-res.apk" and "new.apk" with WinRar/7Zip
6) Delete "resources.arsc" from "framework-res.apk" and replace it with the
"resources.arsc" from "new.apk"
7) Paste "framework-res.apk" into system/app using Root Explorer and reboot device. Should be ok! I if not, go to Root Explorer system/app find framework-res.apk go to permissions and change to rw-r-r-- Reboot and enjoy!
Cheers!

Well I have modified the the theme provided by Lovetz and found out a way to make CRT screen animation work. Samsung had disabled the CRT animation but the program is still there in Our ROM.
Working only for CODEROM but will try to add for other ROMS later.
I am not responsible if you brick your phone.
Theme modifications:
1. Dark MIUI+TouchWiz(only some parts are of TouchWiz)
2. TouchWiz dropdown quickpanel with slightly modified notification and transparent background.
3. Lightweight and fast. (even the scrolling on android frameworks)
4. ENABLED CRT ANIMATION.
How to apply theme:
1. Download the attached zip.
2. Copy to root of SD card.
3. Get into recovery.
4. Apply update and select this zip.
5. Reboot.
Voila. You have the theme. Well even if you didnt like the theme i will try to make orginal theme with working CRT animation. Till then please do adjust.
THEMES:
1. Download and update "coderom_Default.zip" for original theme.
2. Download and update "coderom_MIUIWiz" for this theme.
NOTE: Applying themes is optional. I just gave a theme of mine for fun. But if you just want to enable the screen animations then continue reading and follow the steps given below.
FOR THOSE WHO JUST WANT TO ENABLE CRT ANIMATION WITHOUT CHANGING THEME IN CODEROM:
Just follow the steps given below regarding build.prop and probably if there is no mistake then it should work.
How to enable CRT animation:
1. Pull out "build.prop" using adb or copy it to your comp using Root Explorer. Modify it as suggested ahead. It resides in /system/build.prop .
2. Open build.prop and modify one(or two on coderomnexus) of the line.
'debug.sf.hw=1' is the line in the file. Replace it by '#debug.sf.hw=1'. Indirectly you are just changing the line into a comment by adding a #.
3. Now take this file and replace your original build.prop. You can do this by using adb or root explorer it doesnt matter.
4. Now apply any of the themes provided below using the steps given above.
5. Reboot phone.
NOTE: If the CRT animation is not working after reboot then reapply theme after you have modified your build.prop and try to reboot and see. And also enable all animations or some animations in Settings->Display->Animation for CRT animation to work.
NOTE: If you cannot follow the instructions given here please follow the link given below.
Video for Instructions to enable CRT animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp6RsSZ4X2w
Credit for the Video: GadgetCheck (Thank you very much GadgetCheck )
Hope this works for all of you.
Any problems please comment. And i do hope many other developers use my theme and make newer or older theme with the CRT animation enabled as i cannot do it all by myself.
Please click Thanks if this post helped you.

Hey man. I too use the Code rom without the theme by lovetz
Just don't install the Update file. Assuming you have rooted yor phone, this is what you should doIt worked for me! And believe me its awesome!!!)
1. Open root explorer.
2.Goto system and copy build.prop to your sdcard.
3.Transfer the build.prop file to windows and open it with wordpad (not notepad)
4. Do as he says(ie the code change)
5.put it back on your system/ using root explorer, and reboot. Remember to enable all animations in settings>display>animations
Thank me!!! (ie. press thx button)

@manju991- Thanks man but one thing, i changed my build.prop with a freshly flashed coderom but i went into a bootloop. This happened to me many a times. Thats why i tried to try different xmls and try to make screen animation work. Did you have the same problem?

Well AFAIK this will surely not work in nexus ROM. But if you know something about apktool and etc you can try to extract framework-res.apk and change one xml boolean value and do the same build.prop edit. There are many threads regarding nexus on this topic.

no, it's not nexus rom i mean but codenexus, the v2 of coderom. it's same with coderom v1 but with ext4 support and some tweaks. i thought it's use same framework but when i install the theme i got force close on my screen and setting menu is missing from app drawer.
I am using CodeROM with Glowing crisis theme and did the trick of Manuj and did not work.
did you? what error are you getting? Did you enable all the animations?
work perfectly i tried in default theme. just edit in root explorer
#debug.sf.hw=1 <--- got 2 lines of this. one somewhere in the middle and one at 5th from the last.
important is make sure u go to setting -> display -> enable all animation !
its work, just edit in root explorer,.. thx
but the animation just too fast, is it possible to slow it down a bit?

Samsung Galaxy S II (Skyrocket) SoftKeys
For all of us who once had a SGS2 and wants to have the same navigation keys as on that phone, or at least try it out. I always liked the menu key on it the best.
These keys are built from a high-res pic I found of the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, it has Menu, Home, Search, Recent and Back.
Landscape PNG's are included.
There's no "menu" key, only "MENU_BIG", usable in AOKP.
This is now a ZipTheme/MetaMorph file. If you want to extract the files and do a systemUI.apk update instead, it can be done via this file as well.
If you plan to use my softkey-set for a themerelease, please let me know and remember to mention me in the thread.
I know this is only softkeys, but even if you find a way to make profit of these, please don't.

Big thanks to atticus182 for helping me out with an easy way to do a ZipTheme.zip.
atticus182 said:
Installation Methods (Method 1 Recommended)
Straight from your Galaxy Nexus
1. Easiest Method
*** ZipThemer *** Does not work on AOKP build 19, please try MetaMorph instead!
Download and install ZipThemer from the Market
Download a Softkey Style using the ZipThemer link in the First Post, and open up ZipThemer on your phone
If this is the first time using ZipThemer, hit the (hidden) menu key -> Hit "Update Edify" -> Hit "Browse" (pick a file that you have flashed before on your phone, like your ROM or a theme) -> Hit "Configure" -> Then hit the 'back' softkey to return to the main screen.
Click the "+Theme" button, browse to the download folder and select the .zip you have just downloaded using the ZipThemer link in the First Post, probably /sdcard/download
Click the "Build It!" button, and when it prompts if you want to make an "undo-zip", click "Always"
You will now see the output screen with the Build Log, check if everything went alright, it will show that a zip file has been created on /sdcard/
Reboot your phone to Recovery after this and flash the .zip file that is created on /sdcard/
Done! If you experience problems or want to undo the action just flash the "undo-zip" that's also located on /sdcard/
*** MetaMorph *** Does not work on ARHD, please try one of the methods below instead!
Download and install MetaMorph from the Market, open it at least once so that the folder AndroidThemes will be created on /sdcard/
Download a Softkey Style using the MetaMorph link and move this .zip file to /sdcard/AndroidThemes using your favorite file explorer
Open MetaMorph, choose "Unzip/Extract new theme" and select the .zip file you downloaded. A popup screen will appear, meaning it has been extracted. Press the "Close" button.
Hit the "Apply all!" button and wait +/- 5 seconds (nothing will happen)
Reboot your phone immediately after this and you're done! Oh, and set a new wallpaper because it may be restored to default..
2. Advanced (Hard) Method - Edit the SystemUI.apk from your phone - thanks to bangdrum! Not working for everybody!
Download and install Root Explorer from the Market and make a Nandroid backup
Download the softkeymod you like
Open Root Explorer and navigate to /system/app/, find SystemUI.apk, long press, and select extract. Go to the folder sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted and make sure you have a folder that's called SystemUI
If the folder is there navigate to where you downloaded the chosen softkeymod (usually sdcard/download) and long press it. Select extract all. Go to sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted and there should be a folder with the name of the softkeymod.
Click on this folder, and also on the next. Hit the menu key and press 'Multi Select'. Highlight all the images included in the folder and select 'Move' at the bottom. Navigate back to the SystemUI folder, go to SystemUI/res/drawable-xhdpi and 'Paste' here. A command prompt should pop up asking to replace the current images. Select 'Yes For All'
Go back to the sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted folder, long press the SystemUI folder and select 'Create ZIP'
Rename the created SystemUI.zip to SystemUi.apk and move the SystemUI.apk to your /system/app folder. Change permissions of SystemUI.apk to rw-r--r--
Reboot your Galaxy Nexus (pull battery out and reboot, this is an essential step) and your softkeys will be modded!
Using your Computer
3. Manual Method - Images using Updater Script
Download THIS Updater Script
Extract the SystemUI.apk from your current ROM from /system/app
Open the SystemUI.apk with WinRAR and navigate to /res/drawable-xhdpi
Add the images you downloaded from this thread into this folder, it will overwrite the original icons
Open the downloaded updater script and drag your SystemUI.apk into the /system/app folder, replacing the current file which is just a placeholder
Flash using recovery, done!
4. Automatic Method - Images using Softkey Modder - thanks to mlbvsnba!
Download THIS Softkey Modder
Place the downloaded softkey images into the "PUT_IMAGES_HERE" folder
Connect your phone to your computer
Make sure USB debugging is enabled (located in Settings --> Developer options)
Run/Open "Create Flashable Zip.bat"
Answer yes ("y") to both transfer prompts (or transfer the zips yourself)
Flash the modded (or original) zip through CWM (a.k.a. Rom Manager) **Do NOT wipe anything!** and enjoy!

regular zip has been replaced by ZipThemer ready file.
hmmmm...the zipthemer file didn't work for me.
this is my first ziptheme so maybe i did something wrong, but i followed the directions in the first post and it created the 2 files. everything seemed to work just fine, flashed it in recovery (using CWM touch based recovery, maybe that has something to do with it) but nothing changed.
anyone know if ninjamorph will work? i am VERY comfortable with that app. may take a little longer, but if i know it will work, i would use that every time.

Nah, I just tried it myself.. Reflashed the image of my theme, with the normal keys in them.. And then used thst file as the build as stated.. And build it with the keys in. Update and undo zips are just fine, the systemui.apk has all images, but it doesnt replace the keys for me, neither. I will investigate further.. - Are you using a theme, mate? I'm asking you because if you do, I have an easy work around for you. PM me an answer.
Woops, I checked out Ninjamorph. And yes, if you can make it work, it should be fine. Basically you just extract the 10 images from my zip, then in Ninjamorph, navigate to system/app/systemUI.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi and put the 10 images there. If you can do that, you're golden. I managed to open my systemUI.apk, but didn't know how to get to other things, once in there, lol. But if you know how to use the app, just put my 10 images into the drawable-xhdpi folder.

Thankfully, the fix is quite simple! It was a bit more difficult than the fix for HTC Sense ROMs as the smali edit was not quite as simple.
This was my primary reason for rooting my phone, that's how aggravating it is for me.
Let's change this:

Credits
Calkulin, sextape, sfhub, Other brave folks - For providing the leaked ROMs for me to fiddle with.
Calkulin - (indirectly) helped me find how to fix this for Sense ROMs which I wrote up here.
Samsung - for a relatively good phone. Hopefully the weird auto-brightness and battery life will be fixed next update.
The brave XDA members who try these instructions and report their success or failure!!!
XDA for being a great source of information!!!
XDA members for thinking outside of the box!!!
The fix:
This fix requires editing your SystemUI.apk file. If you are using one of the fine custom ROMs on XDA, be aware that the you or the author may have already made changes to the SystemUI.apk file, so using my file IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
If you are using Calk's E4GT 2 v1.6 ROM, you can safely use my attached SystemUI.apk file. It may work with other "stock-ish" ROMs, but this is the one I based it on. The attachment will NOT work on stock FF18.
This mod relies on the assumption that your ROM developer has not deleted any of the 1x graphic files in the ROM. The developer CAN theme or otherwise change the images as long as the file names remain the same.
What you need to perform this mod:
1. An Epic 4G Touch ROM ZIP file, or a phone running a Epic 4G Touch ROM -- AOSP ROMs already have the correct indicators.
2. The Java SDK -- So you can run Smali.
3. Smali/Baksmali -- So you can decompile/compile the classes.dex file.
4. Android SDK -- To push/pull files from your phone (adb only).
5. Some sort of archive tool (such as WinRAR, 7zip, etc).
5. A text editor capable of editing UNIX-formatted files. I recommend Notepad++, personally.
Ease Of Use Tips: Install Java SDK first, then Android SDK (if you need adb). Download the smali files (smali-1.3.2.jar and baksmali-1.3.2.jar at the time of this writing) to a new "working" folder where we can do our magic.
KEEP A COPY OF YOUR PRE-EDITED SYSTEMUI.APK FILE, just in case!
Instructions:
1a. [If you are using a ROM ZIP File]: Use 7zip/WinRAR/WinZip to open the ROM ZIP file. Navigate to system\app and extract SystemUI.apk to your "working" folder.
1b. [If you want to grab SystemUI.apk from your running phone]: Use adb to pull SystemUI.apk to your working folder. Example: adb pull /system/app/SystemUI.apk C:\Working\SystemUI.apk
To avoid problems, ONLY USE adb to pull/push SystemUI.apk. Phone apps may cause unknown issues.
2. Go to a command prompt in your "working" folder and run the following command: java -jar baksmali-1.3.2.jar -o SystemUI/ SystemUI.apk
3. Browse to your "working" folder and see that there is now an SystemUI folder inside, with other subfolders. Browse to SystemUI\com\android\systemui\statusbar\policy.
4. Edit the file called NetworkController.smali with your favorite UNIX-format compatible text editor and look for the following text. The key is to search for .line 751. Edit the line below that is in BOLD.
Code:
.line 751
:pswitch_e8
iget-boolean v3, p0, Lcom/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/NetworkController;->mShowAtLeastThreeGees:Z
[B]if-nez v3, :cond_103[/B]
5. Change that line to say #if-nez v3, :cond_103 (add the # at the beginning to comment it out)
6. Save NetworkController.smali
7. Go back to your command prompt, change to your "working" folder and issue the following command: java -jar smali-1.3.2.jar SystemUI/ -o newclasses.dex
8. If there weren't any errors, go ahead and rename the original classes.dex to classes.old and rename newclasses.dex to classes.dex.
9. Open SystemUI.apk in your favorite archiver (if you closed it earlier).
10. Drag the file called classes.dex from your "working" folder into SystemUI.apk and replace the one already in there.
11. Run the following commands to get the file on your phone:
Code:
adb remount
adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app/SystemUI.apk
adb shell stop
adb shell start
You should hear your bootup sound and then the changes should be instantly applied.
To Test:
1. Dial ##DATA# (##3282#) on your phone.
2. Enter your MSL (can be found by typing getprop ril.MSL from Terminal Emulator or adb shell).
3. Scroll to Others at the bottom of the list.
4. Click on HDR/1X Selection
5. Change from Hybrid Mode to CDMA Only Mode. This puts your phone in 1X only mode.
6. Press OK.
7. Verify 1X icon comes within 30 seconds, if you have service.
8. Repeat steps 4-7, substituting Hybrid Mode for CDMA Only Mode to switch back.
How I found this: The files in ICS are different than Gingerbread. Looking for 1x led me to NetworkController.smali. There is a lookup called mShowAtLeastThreeGees (which I thought was hilarious). There are 6 locations that reference this boolean value. The correct one is the a couple of lines before a reference to DATA_1X. I wish I noticed that earlier as I was commenting out each one at a time until I found the last one, which coincidentally was right before DATA_1X. That's what happens when you've got too many things going on at once.
Please let me know whether or not this worked for you. I'd like to make a list of ROMs (with applicable mods) this works for or doesn't work for.
I will do whatever I can to help if you are struggling. If there's something you don't understand, please let me know. I can update the instructions if I accidentally wrote something wrong.
Great work once again

Finally!!! I will give it a go right now... mShowAtLeastThreeGees - that IS pretty funny. I guess Google programmers do have a sense of humor.
EDIT: Works like a charm. Here's modded SystemUI.apk from Calkuin's newest FE22 ROM, for those who don't want to mess with SMALI edits.
Awesome work! Now help us find where they've buried the lines to hide AM/PM in there

i'll +1 that. Its one of the main reasons I can't stand TW.
nice work
Thanks Nivron. Here is the systemUI.apk for the stock deodexed rom.
Nice work.
Haven't tested it just yet but it looks like they changed it from line 752 to 751 in FF02 for anyone wanting to make the change in the latest build.
Is it possible for someone to update this for the new FF02 build?

Yeah, or you can use a file explorer and drop it in system/app, then reboot.

I tried dropping it into system/app, which caused the device to lock up and FC systemui. I did a battery pull, and now I'm left with no UI icons, etc.
I think it's due to no space left in my /system/ folder. I deleted the failed install of S-voice, which cleared up 20MB, and now it works!
---------- Post added at 04:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:46 PM ----------
So I tried changing my mode from Hybrid to CDMA only, and waited about a minute, and my device stayed on 3G. I even rebooted just to be sure.
Thoughts?
I downloaded the modified FF02 systemui.apk file, and used ES File Explorer to paste it into /systemUI/app/, after backing up (adb pull) the stock systemUI.apk

You can use a odex rom and with root explorer delete both SystemUI files and replace it with the SyetemUI.apk posted in this thread, it will work I have tried it.
now I'm assuming that you can do the same thing if you know how to take out the systemUI from your odex rom and deodex it and then do the mod.
OP updated for FF18, small change (.line 752 to .line 751). Note that the attachment is still for Calk's E4GT 2 v1.6 ROM and won't work right with FF18.

Hi all,
This guide is split into two parts as of now , part 1 is for changing the settings menu background and part 2 is for changing the backgground for dialer and contacts.
Part -1
may be this method is known to few but im posting this to people who dont know how to change the background image of the settings menu and other few.
Sample screenshots

}
Like it?
here is the method to do proceed with.
Software needed :
1.7zip (to replace the image)
2.android sdk(to use adb commands to push/pull the files)
How it works:
We are modifying/replacing an image called "background_holo_dark.png" in the "framework-res.apk" which is responsible for displaying background images in menu.
Step 1:
Use the following adb command below to pull the "framework-res.apk" from your mobile to pc.
Code:
adb pull system/framework/framework-res.apk
Step 2:
Open the framework-res.apk via 7zip and navigate to the following directory
"framework-res.apk\res\drawable-nodpi\", you will see a file called "background_holo_dark.png". Delete the image and dont close the 7zip.
Preparing your own image:
Now use any png image you want to set as background , resize it to 512 x 512 via mspaint or any other image editing software and rename the file to "background_holo_dark.png".
Drag the newly created image file back to 7zip(to the same directory where the old file is deleted) and close the 7 zip .
Step 3:
Now its time to push the file back to mobile, type the following command in the same command prompt
Code:
adb remount
now type the following
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk system/framework
Step 4:
Now reboot your mobile, you will have the new background image enabled
Part-2
Wanna change the background of the dialer and contacts?? well read below,
Step 1:
Use the adb command (or u can use root explorer) to pull the "Contacts.apk" from your mobile to pc.
Step 2:
Open the Contacts.apk via 7zip and navigate to the following directory
"Contacts.apk\res\drawable-nodpi\", you will see a file called "background_dial_holo_dark.png". Delete the image and dont close the 7zip.
Drag the image (similar to the one created in part 1 of the guide) file back to 7zip(to the same directory where the old file is deleted) and close the 7 zip .
Step 3:
Now its time to push/copy back the file back to mobile. Copy back the file to the same directory from where it is copied.
Step 4:
Now reboot your mobile, you will have the new background image enabled
Your dialer and contacts shortcut may be missing from your launcher, just drag it back to the homescreen from the app drawer.
Step:5
This step is optional!!! If you do not get those shortcuts, enter cwm and wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Note:
For users who know how to use root explorer (or other file managers) can use the same to copy/paste the framework-res.apk before and after editing.
Sample images are taken with multi dpi, this mod will work with all dpi.
Instructions:
1. Download the zip from the download section below and open it in 7zip.
2. Navigate to the following directory "\mode\system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-nodpi\".(Sample images on post 2)
3. Change the images "background_holo_dark.png" and "background_holo_dark.png" as per your wish.
4. Flash it

I have the stock rom on my device and tried it on your description to replace the background, but the black background is always shown. The background i added to the "framework-res.apk" will be not shown in the settings.
Is there another way or another kind of doing this for stock roms user?
Or should i install CM9?

Just getting ready to flash cwm and get started, just want to make sure I've got the order right... Flash 00.zip then the patch, both in cwm. Then if I want ics softkeys download the zip and use tb themer to mod framework, make zip and flash from cwm... Right? Maybe... I have yet to use TB's themer.
