[SOFTKEYS][ZIPTHEME] Samsung Galaxy S II (Skyrocket) SoftKeys - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Samsung Galaxy S II (Skyrocket) SoftKeys
For all of us who once had a SGS2 and wants to have the same navigation keys as on that phone, or at least try it out. I always liked the menu key on it the best.
These keys are built from a high-res pic I found of the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, it has Menu, Home, Search, Recent and Back.
Landscape PNG's are included.
There's no "menu" key, only "MENU_BIG", usable in AOKP.
This is now a ZipTheme/MetaMorph file. If you want to extract the files and do a systemUI.apk update instead, it can be done via this file as well.
If you plan to use my softkey-set for a themerelease, please let me know and remember to mention me in the thread.
I know this is only softkeys, but even if you find a way to make profit of these, please don't.

Big thanks to atticus182 for helping me out with an easy way to do a ZipTheme.zip.

Installation Methods (Method 1 Recommended)
Straight from your Galaxy Nexus
1. Easiest Method
*** ZipThemer *** Does not work on AOKP build 19, please try MetaMorph instead!
Download and install ZipThemer from the Market
Download a Softkey Style using the ZipThemer link in the First Post, and open up ZipThemer on your phone
If this is the first time using ZipThemer, hit the (hidden) menu key -> Hit "Update Edify" -> Hit "Browse" (pick a file that you have flashed before on your phone, like your ROM or a theme) -> Hit "Configure" -> Then hit the 'back' softkey to return to the main screen.
Click the "+Theme" button, browse to the download folder and select the .zip you have just downloaded using the ZipThemer link in the First Post, probably /sdcard/download
Click the "Build It!" button, and when it prompts if you want to make an "undo-zip", click "Always"
You will now see the output screen with the Build Log, check if everything went alright, it will show that a zip file has been created on /sdcard/
Reboot your phone to Recovery after this and flash the .zip file that is created on /sdcard/
Done! If you experience problems or want to undo the action just flash the "undo-zip" that's also located on /sdcard/
*** MetaMorph *** Does not work on ARHD, please try one of the methods below instead!
Download and install MetaMorph from the Market, open it at least once so that the folder AndroidThemes will be created on /sdcard/
Download a Softkey Style using the MetaMorph link and move this .zip file to /sdcard/AndroidThemes using your favorite file explorer
Open MetaMorph, choose "Unzip/Extract new theme" and select the .zip file you downloaded. A popup screen will appear, meaning it has been extracted. Press the "Close" button.
Hit the "Apply all!" button and wait +/- 5 seconds (nothing will happen)
Reboot your phone immediately after this and you're done! Oh, and set a new wallpaper because it may be restored to default..
2. Advanced (Hard) Method - Edit the SystemUI.apk from your phone - thanks to bangdrum! Not working for everybody!
Download and install Root Explorer from the Market and make a Nandroid backup
Download the softkeymod you like
Open Root Explorer and navigate to /system/app/, find SystemUI.apk, long press, and select extract. Go to the folder sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted and make sure you have a folder that's called SystemUI
If the folder is there navigate to where you downloaded the chosen softkeymod (usually sdcard/download) and long press it. Select extract all. Go to sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted and there should be a folder with the name of the softkeymod.
Click on this folder, and also on the next. Hit the menu key and press 'Multi Select'. Highlight all the images included in the folder and select 'Move' at the bottom. Navigate back to the SystemUI folder, go to SystemUI/res/drawable-xhdpi and 'Paste' here. A command prompt should pop up asking to replace the current images. Select 'Yes For All'
Go back to the sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted folder, long press the SystemUI folder and select 'Create ZIP'
Rename the created SystemUI.zip to SystemUi.apk and move the SystemUI.apk to your /system/app folder. Change permissions of SystemUI.apk to rw-r--r--
Reboot your Galaxy Nexus (pull battery out and reboot, this is an essential step) and your softkeys will be modded!
Using your Computer
3. Manual Method - Images using Updater Script
Download THIS Updater Script
Extract the SystemUI.apk from your current ROM from /system/app
Open the SystemUI.apk with WinRAR and navigate to /res/drawable-xhdpi
Add the images you downloaded from this thread into this folder, it will overwrite the original icons
Open the downloaded updater script and drag your SystemUI.apk into the /system/app folder, replacing the current file which is just a placeholder
Flash using recovery, done!
4. Automatic Method - Images using Softkey Modder - thanks to mlbvsnba!
Download THIS Softkey Modder
Place the downloaded softkey images into the "PUT_IMAGES_HERE" folder
Connect your phone to your computer
Make sure USB debugging is enabled (located in Settings --> Developer options)
Run/Open "Create Flashable Zip.bat"
Answer yes ("y") to both transfer prompts (or transfer the zips yourself)
Flash the modded (or original) zip through CWM (a.k.a. Rom Manager) **Do NOT wipe anything!** and enjoy!

Until some1 comes by and creates it for me, no, sorry. I havn't looked into ZipThemer or MetaMorph since I like just working on the PC and flashing it through regular systemUI.apk updates. :/
Sorry, for now.

Ok I have got to know what icons those are in the first post.

Sorry, left one, you're on your own. It might be in a SkyRocket stock image file somewhere. It's just an image I took from google to compare. So good luck, finding it, mate. Sorry I can't help you more than that.
Regarding the right one, the one I'm using, I'll still link you to blackbearblanc . dk, since this is where I found it. I can't give you something that isn't mine, when the artist is around to be found in these forums. I'd like his efforts to be seen. So browse thru his dropbox.

regular zip has been replaced by ZipThemer ready file.

hmmmm...the zipthemer file didn't work for me.
this is my first ziptheme so maybe i did something wrong, but i followed the directions in the first post and it created the 2 files. everything seemed to work just fine, flashed it in recovery (using CWM touch based recovery, maybe that has something to do with it) but nothing changed.
anyone know if ninjamorph will work? i am VERY comfortable with that app. may take a little longer, but if i know it will work, i would use that every time.

Nah, I just tried it myself.. Reflashed the image of my theme, with the normal keys in them.. And then used thst file as the build as stated.. And build it with the keys in. Update and undo zips are just fine, the systemui.apk has all images, but it doesnt replace the keys for me, neither. I will investigate further.. - Are you using a theme, mate? I'm asking you because if you do, I have an easy work around for you. PM me an answer.
Woops, I checked out Ninjamorph. And yes, if you can make it work, it should be fine. Basically you just extract the 10 images from my zip, then in Ninjamorph, navigate to system/app/systemUI.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi and put the 10 images there. If you can do that, you're golden. I managed to open my systemUI.apk, but didn't know how to get to other things, once in there, lol. But if you know how to use the app, just put my 10 images into the drawable-xhdpi folder.

This is a basic theme that changes the H icon for HSPA in the status bar to a 4G icon for CM7.0.2 Final and Nightly 41-42.

If I were to have a deodexed stock rom - could you put together this for that?
I get a 4G icon until it syncs with google then I get a Green "H" is it possible that it is the androidian theme I am running that is missing the Icon??

You could just use the images and copy and replace them in the apk and adb push. Back up first because playing with framework files can soft brick devices easily (boot loop)

I feel like such an idiot, how do I use this? I really want it!
I atleast got adb, I tested by pushing a text file to my phone, I dont want to mess my phone up trying to apply this so what would I do to apply the 4g theme?
Thank you!
open up your zip rom folder on the computer, then go /system/framework/framework-res.apk and drag that apk file out, open that apk, best and easy with 7-zip program and put them in there, just close it up after, saves itself.. and adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
same with Anroidian.apk and Cyanbread.apk

1. Use root explorer or adb to pull SystemUI.apk from the system/app folder
2. On your computer rename SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.apk.zip
3. Open SystemUI.apk.zip (dont extract just open archive) using 7zip and go to res\drawable-hdpi folder
4. From the 4Gicons.zip posted in the OP copy the 8 png's and paste them into the System.apk.zip in res\drawable-hdpi.
5. Rename SystemUI.apk.zip back to SystemUI.apk
6. Zipalign APK(Step not absolutely necessary but optimizes the apk) put SystemUI.apk into tools folder of AndroidSDK. Open compand prompt and run this line "zipalign -v 4 SystemUI.apk SystemUIzipaligned.apk". A new APK called SystemUIzipaligned.apk will be created in the tools folder. Rename it back to SystemUI.apk
7. Use root explorer or Adb to push SystemUI.apk back to system/app folder
8. Using root explorer long press on SystemUI.apk and select permissions, place checks to User: read and write; Group read; Others: read, leave all other unchecked. ( i dont know how to change permissions using adb, this step might not be necessary if you dont have root explorer)
8. SystemUI.apk might force close constantly after copying it back. So, turn of screen of the phone, then back on but dont unlock, then hold power button and choose power off or reboot.
9.And your done
Here's a flashable zip I made you for GingerVillian 1.5 if you dont want to go through all those steps: 4Gicons-theme-GV15.zip

[HOW TO] Theme ALL keyboards without FCs! [A guide for beginners]

Theming a keyboard may be common knowledge to some of the amazing Devs here. But to a noob like me, it took some research and time to get it working without breaking the original signature (That's the trick!). I searched the forum and it doesn't look like anyone has posted a "How To" on theming a keyboard, so I thought I'd share my experience with you all.
**Some of these steps may seem elementary, but I tried to explain everything in layman's terms so even a beginner can theme a keyboard.
// Before you get started:
You must have a working environment setup. Check out QBKing77's awesome video "How to install the android-sdk" to get that going.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614922
Make sure you also have installed:
Notepad++ (for editing xml) // (www.notepad-plus-plus.org)
7zip (for extracting apks) // (www.7-zip.org)
the image editor of your choice. I use Paint.Net(www.getpaint.net), and Gimp(www.gimp.org). Both FREE!
apktool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755243)
LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk (drop in the 'system\app' folder on your phone. Only for the LatinIME.apk) Grab it here: http://d-h.st/Ebb
// This method has worked with every keyboard that I have encountered so far. I will use 'LatinIME.apk' for reference, as that is the stock ICS keyboard. //
WARNING.. DO NOT POST DISTRIBUTION LINKS TO ANY MODDED 'Swype.apk'. XDA HAS A STANDING ORDER FROM NUANCE (MAKERS OF SWYPE), THAT DOES NOT ALLOW SUCH LINKS TO BE POSTED.
1) To start make sure you have a working copy of your keyboard apk; grab it out of a ROM, download it, or use a file manager with root access (like Root Explorer) to copy it to your SD card then to your computer.
**I would suggest dropping the keyboard apk into a folder on the desktop, seperate from anything else, and making a backup of the original so that you have a spare copy.
2) Using 7zip extract the 'res\drawable-xhdpi' folder into the folder you created. This folder will contain the pngs that control some of the keys, outlined in red on this pic:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Color these pngs to match using your favorite editor and save (bucket fill with Paint.Net is a breeze!)
3) Now that your pngs are themed.. Within the folder that you created containing your apk, hold down shift and right click. Select "Open Command Window Here" to fire up command prompt.
4) Next to decompile the keyboard apk with apktool (again using 'LatinIME.apk' for reference, but the apk may be of a different name; SamsungIME.apk, HTC_IME.apk, etc.).
Type this command:
Code:
apktool d LatinIME.apk
When it's done, you will see a folder with the apk name appear, within the folder you created. Click into it and you should see at minimun a 'res' folder and a 'smali' folder.
5) Navigate to 'res\values' folder. Depending on the keyboard you are working on, the xml controlling the remaining key colors will be contained in the 'colors.xml' or 'styles.xml' file. Open with Notepad++, and change the color codes as needed. Save and close.
6) Go back to the root of the folder containing your apk, and fire up command prompt (if it's not still open). Now it's time to build using this command (again using 'LatinIME.apk' for reference, but the apk may be of a different name; SamsungIME.apk, HTC_IME.apk, etc.)
Code:
apktool b LatinIME
7) When it's done building, you should have 4 folders minimum now (res, smali, build, dist) and it's time for the key to success. Navigate into the 'dist' folder and you will see the "Built" apk. Open it with 7zip, and extract the 'resources.arsc' file to your folder. Close 7zip.
8) Now it's time to pull it all together. Navigate back to the ORIGINAL keyboard apk, and open with 7zip.
Copy (you can drag and drop with 7zip) the 'resources.arsc' that you extracted from your "Built" apk, into the "ORIGINAL" apk overwriting the file. Then with 7zip still open and the apk loaded, navigate (within 7zip) into the 'res\drawable-xhdpi' folder where you should see the list of unthemed pngs. Simply drop your edited pngs into this folder. Close 7zip and you're done here!
9) Finally, take your "ORIGINAL" but themed apk, and push it back the 'system\app' folder on your phone.
Fix permissions to 'rw-r--r--' (only check everything under 'read' and Owner under 'write')
Reboot, and bask in the glory of your new themed keyboard!
**Alternatively, grab my empty zip installer here: http://d-h.st/oKG to flash in recovery. You must drop your themed apk into the system\app folder of the zip and save. Also, the zip already contains the 'LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk'
Please hit THANKS if I helped!! And please keep this thread alive!

I actually created a folder 'C:\apktool' where I dropped everything, then added that folder to the Path system variable; same method as you would add the SDK. Otherwise, drop it into the 'platform-tools' folder within the android-sdk. When configured properly, you should be able to open command prompt in any directory, simply type 'apktool' and see a list of commands.

When configured properly, you should be able to open command prompt in any directory, simply type 'apktool' and see a list of commands.

ok i did what u said and put the apktool jar file into the platform-tool folder, but when i type apktool in cmd prompt nothing happens.

Did you also grab the "wrapper" script from the link as well? It contains a few more necessary files that go with apktool.

This method will not work on .odex keyboard apk's, at least to my knowledge but I've always run deodexed ROMS. However, check to see if the keyboard apk you are working with even contains an odex file; a lot of them do not. If it does, you could always grab the apk off the web, mod it, and install it after removing the original files.
Thank you for the walk through, this is awesome
Hey Rompnit. Ok, I was having trouble getting apktool to run on my computer. That's what I was talking about on morphology anyway, so I was trying to learn how to theme an app and somehow was lead to morphology and got all caught up over there. Lol. But ya, I'm gonna have to crap clean my laptop to use this. Thanks. See ya over there

This method WILL in fact work on odexed keyboards. Theming for an odex base is no different then a de-odexed base. You are not making any smali adjustments here so nothing that concerns the odex, thus it will not be affected.

[How To][4.2.2][4.3][4.4.2] Use ZipThemer to flash your themes in stock firmwares !

Hi everybody
Since I learned how to use ZipThemer in order to change and apply mods with my Nexus 4, I've made a little How To, it might help some of you. ZipThemer is a very simple app that allows you to create theme files (.zip), ready to be flashed with your favorite custom recovery. It supports ZipThemer and Metamorph files and it is very easy to use so let's start!
As always, you make those changes at your own risks. I can't be responsible for any brick or death of your phone. Be sure to make a Nandroid Backup before any changes.!

Be sure to have :
- A Rooted Nexus 4 (or any smartphone)
- 5 minutes
- The .zip files of the update from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 that you can download here :
OR
- The .zip files of the update from 4.2.2 to 4.3 that you can download here :
OR
- The .zip files of the update from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 that you can download here :
(be sure to know what version you're using, it's in red :laugh
- The theme you have choosen in a .zip file
0- If you're using a KitKat Rom and want to instal SoftKeys, go to that step that @bigwavedave25 showed us, else, continue to step 1
1- Begin by downloading Android App ZipThemer right there or directly from your phone.
[font=Arial, Verdana, sans-serif]
[/font]
2- Right after the installation, launch ZipThemer for the first time
3- A little window appears, asking you to Update Edify (the window is missing in the screenshot above because that's not the first time I launch Zipthemer.). For this, simply press the menu button and Update Edify
4- Press Browse in order to find and select the convenient file chosen in this thread above, that you have downloaded and copied in your phone. Then press Configure, wait a moment (few seconds) and then go back to the principal window by pressing your "Back" button.
5- Pick a theme you like in any website/forum and copy it to your cellphone, and then select it by pressing +Theme and choosing it in the file explorer (I use here a new lockring found in XDA). It appears now over the menu and, you can choose its destination with +Output and then press Build it!
6- ZipThemer is taking care of the file, usually not very long, and will notify you when it is done !
7- Flash your theme with your favorite Recovery (there are many How To to learn how to do it ) but don't forget to systematically Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik Cache (recommended !) and reboot your phone. You just have to enjoy the result!
If you have found that useful, don't forget the
button
Remove gradient..
So if I wanted to flash something that removes the gradient in settings/menus/etc, so it's all black, how would I do that?

Just change the background_holo_dark.png in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-nodpi to black.
I tried this method on my Gnex (you posted over on this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413582), but I still have the boring white stock softkeys. I downloaded the zip file from here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eglqkhlw33clfhz/FQ7oMslrI8/Softkeys/Airbrush Blue and did the edify part, then configure. Then I did unzip part on a MMZT file. After that I went into recovery and flashed the new "update" zip file. Did I miss a step? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Nothing stopped working which is good, but not nothing changed either.
Which zip file did you use to 'Update Edify' ?
The zip file that was provided in the first post from the dropbox link. This one: de8b8d101614.signed-occam-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.de8b8d10.zip.

I'll reupload as soon as I go back from holidays.
This exactly what I needed. Big thanks mate! Very good job!
EDIT. I tried, but when I select the theme it says:
Can't find a theme control file in /storage/emulated/0 in Nameofmytheme.zip
Any ideas?
Yes, I think your .zip is already a theme file. Try to flash it directly
is there a place to get themes in .zip form? I cant find any.

Need ZipThemer. Also, most of the mods available in this section need this app
I am not really sure why in the instructions it says to use that zip file from his box.net account. You should be able to simply use the exisiting rom file that you are on to update edify, then follow the remainder of the steps to build a flashable zip. I personally used my nightly for linaro tackleberry rom to update edify and then built my zip worked great and no need to download an additional file for zipthemer.

Yes it is quite easy to update edify with a custom rom because they are all .zip files. When you're are stock, the rom files are .tar.gz (some kind of Linux) files. So I decided to test it with an update file (from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2) for the Nexus 4, which is the .zip file in the Box account (this Box account t is mine and I use it for all my Android files)
That's why the title of the thread shows it as a tutorial for stock rom
Sadly enough I get the following on CWM 6.0.3.1
"Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. Amend scripting was deprecated by google in android 1.5.

EDIT---> decided to play around with the air-command icons after seeing GalaxyS4Man's thread over in at&t note 3 land....and made a few of my own little mods using most of GalaxyS4Man's files...just tweaked and added my own
Blue Ring
Hal 2001
Green- This one was a full port of GalaxyS4Man's green theme...I just modded the sizes and replaced the shadow ring
.........new pics below 3rd post !!!
***Ok here's a guide and some files to get ya going.....this is not hard or timely so don't stress no decompiling etc..
Copy your framework-res.apk from phone or from downloaded rom zip of your current rom(...just for good measure) then copy to pc and use 7zip to view the framework-res.apk . Go to the "res" folder then navigate to "drawable-xhdpi" then find the files with matching names from the zip I posted (they'll be clustered together) delete those and then select and drag and drop my files into the folder.
Next copy your modified framework-res.apk back to your phone's sdcard (int or ext) and use a root explorer program to copy and paste the new file back into the system/framework folder....NOW realize this as soon as you copy the new file into place your phone is going to reboot automatically don't panic AND DON'T DELETE YOUR CURRENT FRAMEWORK-RES.APK.....COPY AND OVERWRITE IT just do it that way...Remember after your phone reboots TO GO AND CHANGE PERMISSIONS then REBOOT MANUALLY......PROFIT !
Please hit thanks if this HELPS
If you'd like to quickly test each one my suggestion is:
Needed-----
1) computer....(guess you could use phone...but ouch!)
2 )zip file of your current rom on computer.....or just copy out the framework-res.apk from your system to sdcard then to computer
3) 7zip or other archive handler
4) about 550mb of space on int or ext sdcard
My method has been to grab the "framework-res.apk" in question and then select copy and paste an instance of the apk into each separate theme folder.....then one by one open the folder.....open the apk with 7zip...navigate to res/drawable-xhdpi and drag the icon files from the folder into the apk pressing yes to perform the operation......go through and do this to each theme then throw all the theme folders into a single folder and copy this to your phone.......
Then when ready to try use your root explorer navigate to your chosen theme select copy and then navigate to "system" folder....I then go to the "vold" folder and paste the framework-res.apk in there (temporarily) I then change the permissions and after changing the permissions I then select MOVE and move the file into "system/framework" and then select do a Hot Restart.....system loads right back up ready for testing.....follow these steps to run through and find the one that suits you the best......
******MY FILES IN POST #3******
Here is a "partial" theme Created by thermax04 over in the galaxy N3 forum, check out his thread and hit his thanks button for allowing us note 2 users access to his hard work.......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655984
This is just a partial theme....I will not be taking requests at this time to add or remove things (can be done yourself). I have just themed the parts of the rom that I like themed, If I do more I will add it here.
I'm posting a dropbox link that contains he modded apks...it is not flashable, however grab the files with a root explorer program and add them to their perspective locations One By One (renaming original apk by adding .bak to the filename) and then copy over modded apk and set permissions. Some of the files may cause a soft reboot before you are able to set permissions....Just be sure to go back and set permissions after it reboots.
Once you have added the files the results will be like the screens below.....Enjoy and take a moment to head to thermax04's thread and hit his thanks button.......and hit mine too as it took a while to resize this for our phone.....enough blah blah....here's pics and link ENJOY

If I could take a screenshot with the new AirCommand icons I would show you. VERY VERY easy process. Question...could you do the same process to change other icons in the ROM. I imagine you could as long as you renamed them the same. Not sure as far as resolution for icons go though.

[TOOL GUIDE]Xperia Theme Creator

Hi.
I'm writing this guide, because not everyone knows how this Theme Creator from SOONY (Lollipop will be soon) works.
Firstly, download jar file from:
https://developer.sony.com/develop/smartphones-and-tablets/theme-creator/
As we know, u have to have a Photoshop CS6 as minimal requirement.
BUT Adobe give us a 30 day test version (only for home use) for free.
Just register and download tool:
https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/photoshop
In Theme creator we can work with GIMP.
Download the latest version from official site for free.
When you will run theme creator and select new theme,
in destination folder you will have "templates".
-Open one by one with Photoshop CC:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
-ucheck layers named " hide me":
-Select "File", " Save for web":
-don't change anything and click Save:
-select destination folder in your theme folder and export it:
This is everything where we need Photoshop.
Now u can edit file by file in theme creator using gimp:
-set gimp in advanced settings of image processing:
BUT: If you have weak computer, i've already uploaded package with all files, so all you need is:
-download RESOURCES.rar package,
-unrar it to theme folder,
-no need for photoshop, u can start with editing files one by one in theme creator using GIMP.
\/ RESOURCES.rar \/
http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/4sk6T8tX/file.html
TUTORIAL FOR THOSE WHO USING MY RESOURCES:
1. Download my RESOURCES.rar from the link.
2. Unpack it to directory you want to.
3. Open Theme Creator Beta and Create New project, with complete resources:
4. Open selected in creating new project destination folder and copy all folders from unpacked RESOURCES.rar to theme folder.:
5. Select png with theme creator you want to edit. You can choose with different resolutions (Description: http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html):
6. Click "Edit using external tool". For this time, it will be GIMP.
7. Edit your png as you want.
8. When You are done, press File >> Replace file_name.png.
9. Now You can take a look at Theme Creator to see changes.
ATTENTION:
-Never save image file from GIMP in theme folder in .xcf format.
-If you want to save your files with history of editing, select another folder far away from Theme folder.
ATTENTION 2:
-If you will see BIG RED CROSS, then take a look at picture size (px). must be same as original file.
-If you will see BIG RED CROSS and edited file was .9.png, check for absolutely black 1px borders (tutorial for 9.png can be found on xda.)
-If you will see BIG RED CROSS, take a look at theme folders and delete ALL .xcf files...
That's all.

In 4.4.2. Also possible. You just have to use superuser mod. Install xposed, install xperia xposed, enable superuser mod and reboot! Also for 4.4.4. Stock firmware.
@Krustnesis thank u for this quick guide bro! I was trying the day after the tool became available and had no luck. I will try soon again thanks to this guide! :thumbup:

Yeah, right... I can't root my phone cous bootloader unlocking status - no... And there's no 4.4.4 for D2203... But how could I make theme like TriFlat? So it is possible for 4.4.2 also.

Boot loader unlock is only needed for flashing custom kernel's. Rooting is possible with locked bootloader. Easiest way should be towelroot https://towelroot.com/

Yes. But Theme Creator is developed by SOONY, and dedicated to non-rooted devices too.
I think that They will be updating their tool for complete customization

Why what?
@Krustnesis I'm having a hard time figuring out how to change navbar icons. When I open them up in an external edit program, it opens up in Gimp 2.8. Which is fine, then I try to replace with another icon, and then I press export too, and save it over the original. What happens next is that I get a red box with a blue X inside the box on the icon I changed which is not correct. In this case I tried to change the back key to lollipop triangle back key.
My question is, how do I do it using Gimp? Am I saving the file wrong?
BTW: I used the resources you posted.

I will come back to home and will add screens how to save the entire types of files for themer.
When you open any image file, check if it's not .9.png file.
If yes, then remember to add 1px border with black and "empty" pixels (tutorials on xda about .9.png files)
When exporting files, remember to save in theme folder ONLY theme pngs/jpgs, never save in this folder images in gimp format, because theme creator will take it as normal png and will show red X.
