Please help me
A couple of days ago, I changed my Micro SD card (without moving the files from the old SD card to the new one) so my phone kept on putting the loading screen, and after that, I planned to wipe and then re-install my ROM. I switched the phone to recovery mode, and by mistake after wiping (maybe before, I don't remember :/ ), I chose the option "wipe cache partition" so I was unable to flash this ROM again after that. then I downloaded the ROM "ICS for desire (sanvold)" v. 0.4.4 Beta, and it worked! but Wifi did not work! (when I enter the WiFi settings and turn it on, it keeps on saying "Turning Wi-Fi on..." even after it's turned on! and if I turn it on using the widget, or from the main settings screen in the wireless and networks (without entering to the WiFi settings) and after it's turned on, I enter the WiFi settings and there is nothing but the blue background screen). Bluetooth can be turned on and can be seen by others, but the problem is that my laptop said that it couldn't send a file to it, but maybe it's because of the laptop not the phone so it's not that problem, but my main problem is the Wi-Fi.
About Phone:
Model Number: HTC Desire
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
Mod version: Desire Beta 0.4.4
ROM: ICS for Desire (By Sanvold) Beta 0.4.4
I have flashed the radio 5.17.05.23
So my question is, what's the problem with the Wi-Fi? why isn't it working? how can I fix it? thanks in advance and sorry for making this long

I chose in the recovery "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" and "wipe dalvik cache"
My old ROM (which I had before this problem happened) did not work when I flashed it again
the other ROM which is "ICS For Desire by Sanvold" worked and I flashed it, but the Wi-Fi is still not working so it doesn't work :/ is there any other solutions please??

Clear data for Google Services Framowork and problematic apps and reboot. When you reboot the phone connect to some of the google apps via mobile network and then try via wifi. You'll maybe need more then one try.

Hi Guys
I have become a victim of the dreaded "unable to scan for networks" wifi issue and need some suggestions.
The problem originally occured when I upgraded my phone to MIUI-Au, I also upgraded the radio to the recommended version.
When I enabled the wifi after the reflash the phone went into a reboot loop which I could not get out of. I reflashed the phone again with MIUI, everything worked fine until I enabled the wifi and then ended up in the loop again.
I did some looking around and found the suggestions to rename/delete the /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf file which I tried to no avail. I gave up with MIUI and decided to go to another Rom and decided to try out InsertCoin CM7/A2SD+. I installed the rom as per the recommended procedure i.e. Wiped Malvik and normal cache partition & data/factory reset. I also tried both of the recommended radio's on the Insertcoin thread.
My system now no longer gets into a reboot loop when trying to enable the wifi but simply comes up with a "unable to scan for networks" message and then switches the wifi off. I have tried resetting data/ factory resets, Cache and Malvik settings and everything else I could think of.
Has anyone got any other suggestions as to how I could try and sort this out as I have followed all the suggestions I could find on the site?
Thanks
JohnB
Did u try only a factory reset without data wipe? Usually a factory reset solves the problem...
Maybe this might help:

First, perform a Nandroid Backup via Recovery Mode, which you can later restore, just incase anything goes wrong.
Try flashing the modified kernel 2.6.29 in Recovery Mode (MCR_oc_v14-signed.zip ), it should work then.

Thanks for the suggestion MatDrOiD. Yes,I have done a factory reset, if that means setting/SD & Phone Storage/factory data reset (tried with "erase SD card" ticked and without ticked). Have however tried your suggestion again but still comes up with the "unable to scan networks" message.
I have also reflashed several new roms (in default settings) in an effort to try to find something that would work, all seem to have the same problem.
I also tried with a different SD card with nothing on it and have reformatted it several times.

Radio: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 tried 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08 as well
Would changing the radio make any difference? I have tried the versions recommended for MIUI as well.
Anything else I could try?
Changing radio could work. At first, i would do a full wipe and flash the original htc froyo rom. If the issue still exits, wifiadapter could be broken.

Thanks for the suggestions Mat, I tried to reflash the 2.6.29 kernal as suggested but my phone seems to just sit with a black screen with white stripes on the edges when trying to restart with the new kernel. Left it for 1/2 hour but just sits there. Also tried a few other versions of the kernel but all seem to just sit with the white stripes on the scree.
I am going to carry on trying over the weekend and if I don't get it sorted will switch back to the orginal HTC froyo ROM and see if that sorts out the problem. If not will send it back to manufacturer
Thanks again for the suggestions.

WiFi "error" on Desire. WiFi fails to turn on, displays Error, after a few secs.
Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help.
My UK HTC Desire has started erroring on the WiFi when you try to turn it on.
I have tried numerous things to correct the problem but nothing seems to be working.
I have...
1) Rebooted and reset the cache,
2) Rebooted and done a factory reset,
3) Rebooted and tried restoring to an earlier ROM (Even going back to the stock Virgin Mobile backup)
4) Rebooted and tried different radio ROMs.
After doing all of the above. When I restart the phone, I can turn the WiFi on and it will connect. If I turn it off and try to turn it back on I get the Error message again.
Please help, as I'm eating into my data plan.

Hi
After a while I havent figured out the exact sequence of events.
Data no longer connects.
Wi fi continues to work.
I usually have to go into airplane mode to correct this.
This use to happen from memory on the Stock ROM (its been a while since I have run that).
When I was running OpenDesire it didnt happen (i.e. it worked fine).
CM7 worked fine.
Before putting Oxygen 2.1.6 on I did upgrade the radio to:
5.17.05.23
but then started having the problems so downgraded radio back to:
5.11.05.27
This is the recommended radio...
Any ideas?
Have you tried to reflash rom?:

Hi XDA people,
This is my first post in XDA and its a problem i am facing. Whenever i switch to GSM/WCDMA Mode and start using the 3G internet, the phone restarts with 5 - 7 vibrating alerts. I did searched this forum before posting and got similar posting for HTC Buzz
BIG ISSUE: 3G problem..!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823816
Went through that and found out that by updating the radio this problem can be fixed, so went ahead to find the udpated radio and hboot and updated them using RUU, got a tutorial for the same in XDA forums
So updated Radio from 7.53.39.03M to 7.54.39.28M
Hboot : 1.08.0000
But the problem is still there, as soon as i switch it to 3G mode, i can see the H symol comes up for the GPRS and the network changes to R (Roaming- no clues why this happens but i am fine with this as long it works.) and within minutes it restarts making 5-7 vibrating alerts before rebooting.
can someone help me with this, is there a way to fix this for HTC Wildfire S (Marvel)

it happened to me, the only solution I found was flash the backup of my original Rom Sense PREROOT, turn on 3G and check that it worked.
Then without turning off the 3G flash another rom clean (a bit like the problem of the gps).
is a bit long but I was going crazy, my Willy sometimes restarted.
it may be useful with my HTC Buzz it worked ... but you're rooted?

Yes i am rooted, also i dont have any stock backup
I read in the forums that in HTC buzz if you update to an older radio then wipe cache then update to a higher radio version it fixes it, but i need to find out if that would work for MARVEL, and what would be versions that i should switch to.
thanks for the help

Hi Eventcom, i went through the forum and found that you too had this same problem of bootloop after switching to 3g. I see that you have Buzz, just wanted to know will this simiar fix (update older radio, wipe cache, update to newer radio) can be applied on HTC wildfire Marvel as well.
I have posted my question after a lot of search, got similar threads for BUZZ but none for MARVEL, can you please help.

Well, I don't know anything about the Marvel. Both phones are quite different besides their names and enclosure.
Anyway I don't think that your phones radio will be touched when flashing a ROM or restoring a nandroid backup or that you could wipe, clear or format your radio partition - so in theory it could work with the Marvel, too.
A short explanation about the whole thing: The Buzz has well known issues with the radio (no GPS or BT, WiFi probs) - even directly after rooting and flashing the first custom ROM. There's also a chance that something might go wrong or get messed up when flashing different ROMs, installing tweaks etc. and the problem is that the radio resides on a separate partition which can't be wiped or formatted. All this sounds pretty logical to me but I'm not a developer so I might be totally wrong
The solution seems to be to flash a different radio (older/newer doesn't matter) to "overwrite" the current one - and sometimes reflash the current ROM again.
The problem I had has been hard to spot and even harder to solve. Luckily I found out that switching on 3G initiated the reboots (after quite a while and by accident, really). I made a lot of tests and could put it down to that (WiFi, 2G had no probs - phone rebooted only when switching to 3G or switching on data when 3G has been activated/chosen).
Furthermore I found the "solution" by accident, too: I reflashed the current radio without any success. Then I also tried an older radio - no success. So, as a final attempt, I started to download a RUU to reset the phone to factory condition.
The download server has been awful slow - it took ages to download the file - so I (almost randomly) decided to flash the previous radio again.
I couldn't believe it: that did the trick. (Luckily) I rebooted again, switched on data and 3G and noticed that the phone didn't reboot anymore.
So if you're able to flash a different radio - just give it a try. For the Buzz you need to be S-OFF to flash a radio - no idea about your phones.
I'd be glad if that would work for the Marvel, too :fingers-crossed:
I found this tread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485345
if you do not solve in any other way you could give it a try
I do not know the Marvel, but the Buzz htc are not all the same, the same solution to different results :silly:

Hi.
Long time reader, first time poster. Or a "noob"
I have flashed the release of Evervolvs excellent P1 JB a few days ago. Everything worked fine up until today when the OS froze. I rebooted and it froze again. I rebooted and now I do not have any data connectivity. I have the H but the bars are constantly grey instead of blue as per usual.
When I installed it I made a back-up. I have flashed that and the problem still occurs.
I have done a full wipe and reflashed and still the same problem.
Could the radio firmware have become corrupt?
I have to confess I am not experienced in flashing a new radio and I am somewhat apprehensive of doing it.
I have rooted, S-Off and have a 1GB EXT4 partition.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dude...what do you expect? It's a pre-alpha.
You just flash a radio from recovery. Not such a big deal.
Also, last time I checked there was a dedicated q&a thread for that. Did we really need another praise here?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2
@ Lars: I know what you mean. It is a nice mod but nog really trustworthy for everyday use. Losing the connection and fc, sometimes takingout the battery and reboot is the only solution.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
It happens, however I've never had any major issues with P1 so far. It's pre-alpha, but I believe fully suitable for a daily use. You can always reflash it or do a factory reset if you bump into any problems. I would have expected people to be prepared for occasinal problems while using custom ROMs If reflashing and wiping everything didn't help, I would try a different ROM. If that does not help, you are probably experiencing HW problems.
Thanks for all the replies.
It turns out it was a network failure, but it all coincided with my phone rebooting
Before I look a total chump, I would like to add that I was using Evervolvs ICS and lost data connectivity after long periods of inactivity ie overnight. I had to turn data connectivity on and off to get it to connect. I thought this problem was one and the same with JB. So there was logic to my madness.
I have narrowed the rebooting issue to the Facebook widget, so I have removed it and all is stable :highfive:
Would anybody recommend flashing a more up to date radio or should I stick with "If it is not broke, dont fix it" mantra? Which I am inclined to do.
Thanks again for the replies.
