The Beats audio port will work with any Gingerbread ROM, and does not require an unlocked bootloader

is your bootloader unlocked? because if its not you cant.
as bladestonez said, the recovery partition is included in the kernel and the kernel is only flashable via fastboot (which needs the bootloader to be unlocked)
Check out the xperia mini pro section someone there has got cwm to work without unlocking the bootloader!
Edit: I just posted all the stuff to install cwm easily on the phone with a locked bootloader over in the dev section!

Guys I was wondering if there are any other Roms that don't need our bootloader to be unlocked.
I am asking because I have used plenty of android devices rooted them and flashed Roms to them and all of those devices never needed me to unlock there bootloader and I am still not ready to unlock but I have rooted and installed cwm .
Btw I am new to sonyericsson

No, I heard that Anakin works on locked bootloader, all others don't.

my guess is the previous android devices you are dealing with are shipped with "unlocked" bootloader.
I think if you don't unlock the bootloader, you cant have custom roms

I have to disagree one of the problems we were facing was was that the phone didn't have an unlocked bootloader and we really wanted it to be to try out dual boot

Ok, so my phone is going wierd so i want to take a nandroid backup before i repair using pc companion.
Is it possible to go back to the stock recovery so that pc companion doesnt detect modified stuff?
I currently dont have CWM installed
R800i, .49 locked bootloader
Thanks
When you flash the stock ftf file, it flashes the stock kernel.

Is there no way to do it without getting into flashing?
No
A more complete answer is 1 - you have to install CWM to do the androids regardless of whatever else you do. 2 - falling the ftf returns you completely to stock. If you don't do that and you have removed anything from your configuration, PC Companion or SEUS will detect it and not update you. 3 - flashing with Flashtool is easy, fast and does not require an unlocked bootloader.

Thanks
You can fastboot erase boot, then flash stock boot.img from fastboot. Its quick and won't affect rom.

Hi everyone. I completely apologize for this question as I am absolutely new to Android and to unlocking a phone. I just bought a R800x Verizon Xperia Play for the sole purpose of being able to play emulators. I will not be activating it to use as a phone. I have read as much as I can and am still a little confused in regards to being able to unlock the bootloader and install roms.
If the bootloader message says No, am I not able to unlock it or install roms at all?
If it says yes, can I install any rom, or am I limited to what I saw as Cola and a few others?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone help me out. Or can I keep it locked but install cola?
You can.unlock the bootloader I have mine unlocked using sonys unlock method but.if you wish to.stay with a locked bootloader yoj can.install cola but you'll have to.root 2.3.3 install clock work mod.recovery I my.self.am.vefy glad I unlocked my.bootloadef and since yoj habe.no.intentions of using the phone side yoj could install numeruous amounts of gsm roms

Thanks dark.
If I unlock it using that method. I've read the forums. I just need to get flash tool then and pick a rom I want to use. Most roms come with the clockwork recovery from what I'm seeing.

Well all roms have root and superuser your clockwork recovery on the other hand is in the kernels and flashtool is a life saver on so.many levels lol I'm trying to reset mine up since.my.computer crashed and.I went.to a lap top running windows xp home as of right now.I.can flash ftfs, my phone isn't being recognizes for fastboot so ya lol I'm on 2.3.3 stock without root it sucks not having root unlocked bootloader and.not.being able to.flash a kernel lol
