I just recently ugraded to eb13, and now I notice that my texting history shows up in my call log...uhg! I send/rcv about 10-12k txts a month, so yu can imagine what my call log looks like with all those txt's! Is there a way to permanently remove "text history" from call log? I dont particularly want to use the searh filter every time I want to see a recent call nor do I really want a whole new dialer, as that's the only thing I don't like...
Anyway, thanks, all help is appreciated

All custom ROMs floating around here had texts removed from the call log. You might try reflashing your ROM. Or copy logsprovider.apk out of any custom ROM with the same baseband as you (EC05) and push it to system/app.
Only if your rooted. K0nane made a stand alone fix to be flashed.
You can also hit the menu button and say sort by X,Y or Z but yeah its an annoying issue..
Why are u on eb13?

Oops it looks like the fix is already active. I guess I hadn't rechecked since I flashed SFR 1.2. It would be nice if there was an "All Calls" option in the View By menu instead of just a behind the scenes hack, but I'm happy with this. Thanks.

here is the fix if you are rooted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853177&highlight=log. But you should really think about updating to at least EC05. Much better than EB13 in my opinion. EF02 has been great for me so far as well.
I take no credit for the ROM. If you want to check out a smooth AOSP ROM, this might fit the bill.

MMS is fine. I haven't tried GPS, but the compass displays backwards in Maps like CM7. Navigation should still work like it does in CM7.
Oh, and MMS works on wifi as well.
Tried it out..good stuff but I decided to go back to cm7.

Same here, I use tethering option in settings menu. Wifi or wired options both work.
The only serious issue I'm having with this ROM is the dialer. Usually when I type the first few letters of someone's name, it pops up. On this dialer, all I get is numbers. Am I missing a setting/option somewhere to change this?

I don' recall AOSP dialer ever doing that, but I could be wrong. To view contacts you just select the contacts tab. I know the Sense dialer does that.
I've been running this ROM for a couple days now, it's great. The only bug I've found is the normal reversed compass orientation, which is a bit annoying but doesn't effect driving navigation at all.
Other than that, everything else (MMS, etc) is working fine. For users wondering what it's like, think CM7 running LauncherPro instead of ADW, and you're pretty close.

Sounds to me like you're used to using the Sense dialer. I don't think the stock AOSP dialer does that.
I replaced the default dialer with "DialerOne", which is free on the market. Take a look if you like this ROM but want to maintain your Sense dialer functionality.

I know there's been posts about this already and I've tried about 3-4 different apps already attempting to gain this functionality, so far with no success.
My old Tilt2 running Windows Mobile 6.5 had a BUILT-IN ability to record BOTH side of the phone call simply by pressing a menu button and then selecting "Record" DURING the call, which means I could choose exactly when I wanted to record, I didn't have to know in advance and I didn't have to record the whole call. I could go back to that same menu and "Stop Recording" just as easily and then the recording would show up in the Voice Recorder app file list. (they were saved as .amr files)
I have yet to find an application (free or paid) that provides this same functionality (and preferably the same ease of use and simple features) for the Android system, and I've been looking since I first got my Epic 4g back in May with Froyo 2.2 on it. I've got GB on it now, are we ever going to get an app or a build or rom that has this feature in it?
Thank you.

Background on this topic:
In previous threads on this topic in the Epic forums, it has been stated that it is against the law in some states to record a conversation without notice to & consent of the other party/parties.
That said, in all of those threads since the Epic's release--I've yet to see an app recommendation that panned out for those seeking such functionality.

My old PalmOS Treo had that feature, and it was perfect! Have been looking like you for that would work on the epic with no luck.
It was helpful when recieving important info while driving and not having to pull off to the side of the road and try to write things down with pen and paper!
Wth are people up to that they need to record their calls so badly. Are you guys creepy stalkers? Don't trust your gf/bf? Dump them. Jeez. Are you the damn dept of Homeland Security?

I have only used my recorder on my Treo twice in 2 years. But the times I did use it was when someone gave me super long instructions on something I can't remember, so instead of saying to the caller, call me back when I at home in about an hour (which is an inconvenience to both of us) and when I am by my computer and have a pencil and paper, I simply continued the conversation. Then when I did get home I just wrote that information down at my convenience.
It's like have All Wheel Drive in a car, most of the time you don't need it, but it sure is nice when you have it.
Obviously you have never had a need for anything so mundane, as you are always in the perfect situation, so why the heck do you need a wireless phone? Stick to your corded phone, that's all you need, oh wait, you probably have a wireless phone. You must be one of those creepy guys too!

Not creepy, trying to be SAFE while driving and when someone is giving me instructions, or their address or phone number or when I'm on the phone with HP tech support and at the end of the call they want to give me a really long case number, there are a thousand legitimate reasons to need to have the ability to record portions or the entirety of a conversation while on the phone. When you have a 2hr commute each way to work and back, you spend a lot of time on the phone and frequently get information that needs to be written down, which I can't do while driving...not SAFELY at least.
Why was this so simple for the OLD Windows WM6.5 to accomplish yet the much more improved Android can't? Is it the OS or the phone manufacturer's that are preventing this feature???
~Z
I think it's a built in function in the MIUI ROM. I'm pretty sure on my last call I saw that feature...
Edit: yup, just checked and it's there. It's a stable ROM, you may want too check it out.

I could use this in several aspects my business dealings... I would live to be able to confirm verbal contracts over the phone, create action items during conference calls while in the car & to capture confirmation #'s when paying bills over the phone just to name a few. Essentially, some of u just don't get it & automatically think the worst which shows your train of thought and personality all to well.

Well, I'd say we've confirmed that there's definately a market for such a program on our device, if not others. I guess the trick is, and unfortunately I'm not a phone or android expert, I have to revert back to one of my original questions to see where to go with this. The developers here are pretty damn good and usually fill in whatever requests are out there for apps/mods to satisfy our requests. So is the reason why there isn't already a call recording program then the fault of the phone's themselves? I've heard that some people have had complete success with a program, but only with a specific model of phone. Others say that they get only microphone input...
Is the hardware truly limiting the ability or can we find a really nice and good dev who could get around any hardware limitations (at least on the Epic) and get this ability working finally?

Hey guys...
Just heard about S Voice. It sounds even better than siri. So I gave it a try on our device with CM9 alpha2.
So here it is:
The major function is OK, concerning listening and giving answers. Mount Everest's height can be found, weather OK, and even silly questions.
But the problem is here...
First, it is not quite responsive. Sometimes the button does not respond. However it can be worked around by re-launching it.
Second, the integration with local data does not work. Whenever I tell it to create a new task and/or calendar event, it crashes.
Third, it is not customizable. When you try to change the wake up phrase, it crashes. Worse still, you have to clear the data of the app to revive it.
Na.
Well, just asking if any developer is interested in making it work in our device?

A while ago, I downloaded a nandroid someone posted from their T-Mobile Galaxy Note II to see if I could pick it apart for wi-fi calling, but I don't use it so I can't really test it and I lost interest. Now, I've packaged up the Wifi Calling app with all of the libs it came with and added in the build.prop from the zip. It might be a lot more than what is needed, but I don't want to have to keep uploading bits and pieces. If you think you have an idea of what you're doing and want to try it out, go for it. I don't really know much about wi-fi calling at all so unless you have some sort of logcat, I'll be of little to no use to you at all. I guess that's about it...
You can use the ics wi-fi calling package to help you out by possibly using it as a reference/using parts/etc.
FOUND HERE
And here is what I've extracted from that 1GB+ package.
CLICK ME
Let us know what you find and good luck
If you feel you might need more files from the original nandroid just let me know.

Hm... by the looks of it, it would seem that these are only settings for Wi-Fi calling. So it would seem that you'd have to mod the settings apk to have the option for WiFi calling settings. :/ I'll look into elgins (CM10) source sometime to see if I can add it in. If I can at least get the app starting somewhere, it will be easier for everyone else to debug/fix it up. If anyone has messed with the note 2 and can confirm that WiFi calling is accessed via settings and not launcher (app) that would be helpful as well.

I'm thinking the setting could be added in way that is similar to this:
https://github.com/SyNtheticNightma...mmit/bfac7c05daab9f6294f7419ea6173c4a1c569092
Though I don't know the exact name of the package for the wi-fi calling settings... I'd need to decompile it to find that out (unless you know another way, I'm not too familiar with apks). I could also try whipping up an icon for this if you need one.

Sorry for a late reply (haven't had the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-T889) so long...
Wifi Calling settings are located under Settings / More settings /
And includes two items: Wi-Fi Calling (this is to enable/disable with a check box), and, Wi-Fi Calling Settings (This offers Connection Preferences [Wi-Fi Preferred / Wi-Fi Only / Cellular Preferred}, and, Help)
For reference, the above menu structure/selections are based on Stock F/W 4.1.1, Build Number JRO03C.T889UVALL4
Is this still a work in progress or has it died?
it sure died.. adding wifi calling to JB has been a task for over a year..no dev has been able ot make this work...so sad.
