I just recently ugraded to eb13, and now I notice that my texting history shows up in my call log...uhg! I send/rcv about 10-12k txts a month, so yu can imagine what my call log looks like with all those txt's! Is there a way to permanently remove "text history" from call log? I dont particularly want to use the searh filter every time I want to see a recent call nor do I really want a whole new dialer, as that's the only thing I don't like...
Anyway, thanks, all help is appreciated

All custom ROMs floating around here had texts removed from the call log. You might try reflashing your ROM. Or copy logsprovider.apk out of any custom ROM with the same baseband as you (EC05) and push it to system/app.
Only if your rooted. K0nane made a stand alone fix to be flashed.
You can also hit the menu button and say sort by X,Y or Z but yeah its an annoying issue..
Why are u on eb13?

Oops it looks like the fix is already active. I guess I hadn't rechecked since I flashed SFR 1.2. It would be nice if there was an "All Calls" option in the View By menu instead of just a behind the scenes hack, but I'm happy with this. Thanks.

here is the fix if you are rooted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853177&highlight=log. But you should really think about updating to at least EC05. Much better than EB13 in my opinion. EF02 has been great for me so far as well.

I am having an SMS issue and I dont know if its the ROM im running or just a general Bug. I am running the latest version of Sprint Lovers ROM. and with every other cell phone carrier besides Sprint sometimes when I receive a text it time stamps it up to 5 minutes in the future. So when I respond back it displays the texts out of order. then if the other person sends another one it has the correct time. is anyone else having this issue?
Thanks
Ha ha, I was going to ask this on XDA later tonight. I'm having the same issue while using a Sense ROM. CM6, to the best of my memory, did not have this problem when I was using it last night.

I believe you could just rename or remove the systemUpdater.apk and it would stop checking for updates
.. I think thats the correct name but if its called something else please correct me
Edit: I would just use Titanium and "Freeze" the system updater at first. but i think this is removed on custom roms anyway so shouldn't be a problem to remove it

well, im a big fan of the syndicate rom but it carries over what i dont like
the "google" search is slower than the stock search
the browser seems slower
messages in the "call log" annoy me
cant search in phone app by last name
keyboard seems to "miss" letters
except syndicate, dk and ce based roms just seem slower
if i could build roms i would and remove the carrier iq and add the extra functions when you hold down the power button.
btw, im a guy.... i need to change my sn lol
so, im going to just remove system updater, hope that works
I'm with you,I liked DK28 the best out of all 3 FROYO releases, and I actually had DI18 on all day today just to see what it was like again; And I forgot how damn smooth it was compared to this hacked-up **** we have right now,I know EC05 is young (and I plan on building EC05 still) but I'm making a DK28/EB13/EC05 ROM with no carrier IQ,and most if not all EC05 mods should work,I start on that as soon as I get off work.

What you listed doesn't make sense...
the "google" search is slower than the stock search It is the stock search.
the browser seems slower Fast and checkerboardless in SRF.
messages in the "call log" annoy me Not present in SRF.
cant search in phone app by last name Fair.
keyboard seems to "miss" letters Better than DI18 and user-adjustable in SRF.
I don't think you need to defend SRF kOnane... I think my problem is UV kernels, but I still can't narrow down the static/pops. But this is what I've seen sofar, when fast scrolling (scroll fast, then remove finger fast) no pops, but if I scroll with my finger on the touch screen the entire time,it pops like crazy ; Which makes me think its the touch screen driver,or interference on the bus when using the touch screen...

I change themes quite often, but only one theme that I've come across for the Samsung Epic that uses AOSP messaging as opposed the the default "Samsung messaging" (I guess you could call it), is Engraved Blues. I've used that theme for the longest, mostly because it has AOSP messaging. It comes with WAY more user functionality than the limited "Samsung Messaging." Is there anyone that could put AOSP Messaging into a flashable zip? That way, I can use whatever theme I chose, and still have AOSP Messaging. I would really appreciate it if this could be done!
I'd even be willing to learn how to do it. I usually don't request, and tinker with things on my own, but I'd need some help with this one. If someone wants to walk me through the process, I'd be even more appreciative, because I wouldn't have to ask for these kinds of things!
I don't know what you mean by AOSP messaging but Impaler's transparent MMS are flashable zips. They both look and run very well. Give one of them a try. Just download and flash in CWM.

AOSP messaging is I guess stock Android messaging. At least that's what someone told me a while back. There are noticeable differences. Probably one of the most important is the fact that with default Sammy messaging, when messages come in while I'm roaming, they are 4 hours in advance. For some reason, this isn't the case with AOSP messaging. It's really weird. There are also options for vibration types, and you're also able to change the font size of the messages. None of these options are present in Sammy messaging, AND, there are no chat balloons; just color backgrounds.
The MOST important reason I prefer AOSP is because for whatever reason, I cannot pinpoint, whenever I run a ROM with Samsung's messaging app, the phone tends to randomly restart. Ever since I've been using Engraved Blues with AOSP messaging, the random restarts are nonexistent. No reboots whatsoever! My phone has been super stable with SRF 1.1.1 and Engraved Blues. I don't know why it causes those reboots, and I don't have my messaging set to keep a lot of messages. Maybe 50 at the most.
Impaler's transparent messaging is based off of Samsung's Android messaging app and while it looks awesomely sweet, I've had the same unfortunate reboots as it seems to be based off of Sammy messaging.
EDIT: Ok, just noticed this in his thread.
These apps are the 2.2 MMS app, only about 50 times better than Samsung could have ever made it...

Maybe I should give it a try again? I know when he first started posting the transparent messaging app series, I could've sworn it was simply themed Samsung messaging?

I haven't really had any problems with what you mentioned. I would say give it a try. I think you will be pretty happy. His messaging app is always the first mod I flash after flashing a new ROM or theme. If it doesn't work for you, sorry.
I have that same problem with Swype where when I'm roaming all my messages read 4 hours ahead of time. Gets really bothersome. I can't live without swype anymore though.

Funny thing is that before I installed the Engraved Blues theme, I thought that the Samsung messaging app was standard Android. If I hadn't come across the theme, I wouldn't have known a thing about AOSP messaging. And what's with that roaming problem? Man, that's so annoying! How'd Samsung let that one out of the gate with that glaring problem???

From what I was told/read it is a Sprint problem with how their devices communicate with the towers used for roaming. So blame Sprint for the problem

AH, zip must only be edify.
All you have to do is go into that zip, take out the mms.apk, and push it to system/app using root explorer.. I've got a video showing how to do that

Also, does anyone know why now when I'm in a phone call and get a txt I get the default sound instead of the txt sound I have set?

damn. that's a damn good question! I hate how it scrolls the texts too. don't want certain people to see everything. lol. hmmm. Ever since I started using JB ROMs, I keep getting this random two-tone chiming notification sound from the phone.
When I hear it, there's nothing in the drop down menu. Not an e-mail notification, or text or anything (I have all those customized already).
I can't seem to figure out what this chiming notification sound is for. Does anybody here what I'm talking about?
I tried going into the system/media/audio folder to see if I can find what the sound is called, but I wasn't able to find it.
I just want to turn it off, but I'm not sure where to go :-/
I'm guessing it's Google now updating. But when I go into Google now setting, it has a completely different notification sound.
Thanks in advance for any response.

I'm running the latest Wicked ROM. But I don't think it's ROM specific.
I had it when I was running Domination ROM also. And my friend who's running stock 4.1.1 seems to have it also. However her phone doesn't chime as much as mine does.
I know that it is an issue with some CyanogenMod nightlies with the "Deneb Tone" (I believe) but Stock is most definitely not built on that. I'm not sure I can be much help at the moment but I'll look into it. Your problem is usually known as a "Ghost Notification Tone."
find the chime sound and delete it
Its most likely in this folder .. system/media/audio
Also .. you could be a face-book tone or a Google + mail or chat
do you have any custom chat - email - type programs ?

Okay, I figured it out.
It's the default notification sound from Yahoo mail.
I thought had turned off all notifications for Yahoo e-mail but apparently when the app recently got updated, it turned the notification sound back on again so every time I'd get a new e-mail, my phone would chime. I just turned it off.
Thanks to all who responded!!
No problem!
You also just reminded me to turn my Show Notifications for GMail back on from a few days ago...
