I went to check my phone this morning and it wouldn't work.
Plugged it in to charge and all I got was the white LED flashing.
When I plug it in to my laptop I get a constant white LED.
I then tried to get it into bootloader but nothing's happening.
I can't see how it would be bricked, I've been running the same firmware (2.2.2) on it for about 3 months now with no changes.
The only thing that's happened lately is that I dropped the phone onto a wooden floor about a week ago, but it's functioned fine since then.
Any suggestions as to how I should proceed?
See if it gets recognized by your pc & flash sbf again with RSDlite.
If RSD gives nothing, try to look for drivers.
After you flashed the sbf, go to stock recovery and do a factory reset.
Thanks for the reply.
The phone won't show up in My Computer and RSD doesn't see anything.
A couple of times after plugging the phone into the computer and holding down the power button it started to install itself as something like OMC Device, Motorola flash, but then fails to install. I can't even replecate that consistently.
By drivers do you mean the Motoconnect PC drivers? I already have those installed.
Any other suggestions?
if your phone wont show up in rsd lite (ur screwed up)
try installing drivers and reboot your pc
if it still doesn't show up check your battery.
if barrery is drained try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892026
worst case scenario take it to service center.
If the battery was dead wouldn't the phone boot up anyway with the power from the mains or USB?

How could it be bricked when I haven't flashed it in the last 4 months?
I gave up on the poor thing yesterday and sent it back to Amazon.
Hopefully my replacement, most likely a SE Experia Ray, will be a bit more reliable!

3.IF u were using froyo, dont flash eclair 2.1 sbf..........go for more advanced version...

My phone before bricked was running 2.3.4 and now won't turn on. I would get the white light once plugged into laptop but rsd lite would not recognize the phone. I then had a friend charge my battery on their defy.. so now with 100 charge I get no white light and rsd lite still doesn't recognize it..
device manager on my laptop does recognize that there is a motorola device plugged in that needs flashing.. it says "ready for flash"

I have a similar problem to urs, I had to replace the lcd and while i done it i started the device without assembling it, i think that removing the battery while the device was on corrupted the flash. The device would only show the white led and now it wont even show nothing.
My device wasnt rooted and it was using the factory android 2.2.2? does anyone have any suggestions. I have tried mcwygver wire rooting solution and rsd and the device is completly dead.
Using vol UP/down +power up wont work either.
Any suggestions?

Hi i have the same problem. Phone via USB shows White LED and does not power on. Phone via mains charger is stuck on bootup logo.
When using mains and using volume UP on startup i am stuck in the battery low cannot flash mode. Without mains the phone does not power at all
Tried mcgyver fix via usb - phone does not power on at all, totally dead. It is possible i have done mcgyver wrong? i have placed red wire into + and taped it, put black into - and taped it. Remaining 2 battery holes in the middle are open and not taped. Question - do the + and - have to have the bare wires in but still have the connection hole EXPOSED for the pin in the phone to connect, or are they supposed to be covered?
Thanks

Guys my phone at the time wasnt rooted with the stock rom, i didnt had made no changes to it or whatsoever. But what i have learnt with time i have being trying to fix my problem is that a desktop charger and a spare battery are a great help.
Usually when i cant start the phone because the phone is stuck on white led i get a fully charged battery and it usually works. by trying to get to the bootloader first without the cable connected and after with cable connected.
A few times i have had the phone bricked with no led or being able to boot it, so i just leave it overnight with no battery and it usually it fixes it.
Hope it helps.

Hi
for your batery i've the solution ! find someone who have the same phone, and ask him if he can put your batery in his phone to charge your batery !
I just wanted to share what happened before it was bricked so others could possibly avoid it (and because I didn't think I could brick a Nexus...).
Yesterday my USB connection began failing intermittently. It would charge, but the computer would not always recognize the device. On Windows 7, I got an error message saying that the device had malfunctioned and that I should try reconnecting it. On OSX, Android File Transfer could not find my device. Unplugging and plugging back in got the computer to recognize it about 20% of the time.
I went back to stock using fastboot, but I had to battle with it for several hours because of how unreliable my USB connection was. On stock I still had the problem, but I wondered if I had just gotten unlucky during flashing since I had so many failed attempts. Then I decided I would try again with Odin since it just takes one flash to go back to stock. Unfortunately, my USB connection failed again during the Odin flash. I pulled the battery (this could be the true problem but I couldn't get the flash process to start over otherwise) and at this point my phone was bricked. The screen showed an image with a phone and a computer with an exclamation point between them. I couldn't get to my bootloader and couldn't try any other fixes because my computer would no longer recognize my phone at all.
Long story short, if your phone's USB connection begins to malfunction then don't use Odin.
Sorry to hear that. This is something I learned (second hand, thank god) when I had my Galaxy S1. Odin can simultaneously be the best and worst tool you use.

There is a chance it's not totally bricked, that happened to me on an other samsung device while i was flashing with odin. U pulled the battery too early.i also had that black screen with the yellow pc and exclamation mark, try another usb port in ur pc and try to flash again with odin, if not, take the battery out and keep it out for a while (i don't know, 30min for example) then try odin again... u should be able to enter download mode somehow despite the screen u got now.

Your phone is not bricked. This happened to me on my Vibrant countless times. Not it's basically trial and error to get it to show up on Odin, but use a reliable USB connection, like another port on your PC or something. Trust me, you're fine. I was ****ting myself when this happened for the first time, but it's just like download mode, you can still restore to stock.

Even if he can't enter download mode, if Odin recognizes the phone while the screen with the exclamation mark is up, he'll be fine.

I had a feeling that it wasn't truly bricked, but since my phone's USB driver (or whatever aspect of USB data transfer) was malfunctioning I couldn't do anything about it. I think of it this way: if in that state my phone had a 5% chance of being recognized by Odin, and if my phone already had less than a 20% chance of being recognized before the soft-brick, then I had a 1% chance or less that it would even show up in Odin and even lower odds at a successful flash. Regardless, Verizon agreed to send me a warranty replacement.

Same here with the vibrant. IIRC there was a special way to get your phone to recognize Odin when it happened. Something like plugging in the phone to the computer and then pulling the battery. Odin even worked when I borked a flash and the screen wouldn't even turn on. I would think the nexus could be brought back similarly.
But if the USB port is on the fritz I'm not sure I would want to bring it back.
As far as I'm concerned Odin is the worst thing you can hook up to your devce. No single program has bricked more devices than Odin.

on my old SGS1 there was chance get back bricked device by method called "JIG"..(its hardware way get back download mode) but i dont study it more...
I don't think its bricked, I once restore my phone from a black screen that Odin still recognized as download mode. The drivers can get iffy, do you have a third comp that you can install fresh drivers on. Also is your USB jack on the Nexus loose? Sometimes it really is due to your PC's USB connection. I also had issues with cheap blackberry cables and had to use higher quality ones.
Did you try going into download mode by connecting it to the PC while with battery removed and hold (whatever buttons to boot it into download mode), then insert the batteries. Or try entering using a jig.
Also a bit lazy of me (on phone), but can someone point me to where to get Odin images for the Nexus?
try to use another cable to connect ur phone to pc
just flash stock via odin, it's not bricked.
My s2 sometimes has that problem when i flash stock

I appreciate the advice but I no longer have that phone. My replacement should come today.
With regards to the drivers, I was referring to the drivers on the phone not on the computer. I honestly don't know if there are USB drivers on the phone (I would think there are) or even if those drivers were causing the malfunction.
The first thing I'm doing this afternoon is plugging my replacement phone into my computer. If the new one doesn't work right then I'll have to make a trip to the Apple store because the problem will almost certainly be my laptop. I'll also owe a big apology to Verizon.
Hey there. I've just recently screwed up my phone. (E4GT) Earlier today I was out and about and haven't been home to charge my phone. My battery died. I got home, plugged it up and got a blue flashing light, that flashed every 4 seconds. I figured it could be a battery problem. I left it there to attempt to charge for about an hour and was eventually able to turn it on.
I was planning on taking it to best buy tomorrow to get another battery. So, I powered off my device, loaded download mode and plugged my phone into the USB port of my laptop. My laptop wouldn't recognize my device. I began trying every USB port on my laptop and got nothing. I also tried my desktop and got nothing. I even re-installed drivers and no avail.
I figured I'd go into recovery and do a full wipe and reflash my ROM. (CM9) Incase you are wondering, I am using chris41g Safe CWM6. I have successfully flashed 3 ROMs using his kernel/recovery. I after I reflashed, I got bootlooped. I pulled battery after about 15 min. and tried powering on again. This time I got stuck at splash screen and it didn't go any further. I pulled battery again after about 15 min. and tried going into recovery, and I couldn't get into recovery. I can into download mode but my laptop and my desktop can't recognize my device. So now I'm stuck at splash screen. I've tried everything I possibly could have tried. I tried ODIN, Recovery, ADB, and I can't get anywhere.
Think I bricked?
I don't think you are bricked, at least not hard bricked "phone turns on but only blue light flashes once" is a hard brick. It sounds like things got weird when the phone discharged. Possible a kernal bug? Have tried any of the one clicks to ff18 or el29 or something? Because if your phone can get into download mode , you're technically not bricked.

Phone won't recognize Laptop or Desktop at all. Even after I reinstalled drivers. Even tried my roommates laptop. Got nothing.
I had the SAME problem on CM9 I was running it for weeks flawlessly then all of the sudden my comp stopped recognizing it. I thought my usb port went bad but I ended up just flashing a different rom, Super nova rom actually and it was back to working flawlessly. If you cant connect the phone to pc to transfer a file to the sd card try using another device like a digital camera or something to transfer the rom. Then flash. That fixed me right up.Damn I didnt realize you said you can no longer get into recovery. Have you tried maually getting into recovery? Power + volume up when phone is off? Try every way you can.
What RB said. You should put everything you need on external SD. If you do not have an SD card reader (so you can read/write to it on a PC), you should get one!

I fixed my problem. I went out and bought another cord for USB port. Guessing all 5 my cords are faulty! Phone is working again now. I restored back to EL29. Just did the OTA to ICS again too. Now I just need to get a new battery.
RB, I've been running CM9 Alpha 6 for about 6-7 days and my phone JUST started to act up. I had the same thing as you but the only thing was I couldn't get into the recovery. Only download mode. Atleast I fixed her.

Hello everybody.
First I want to say is that I'm sorry for my english. It's not my native language.
And now lets go to my problem:
It started like few days ago when I updated my phone to the newest franco.kernel. After flashing that, my phone began to behave strangely and it didn't want to go tho nexus logo. It just always crashed.
So I decided to plug my phone to PC for flashing stock kernel or older version and what happened.. PC didn't recognize that phone is connected. I tried use Universal Naked Driver, OMAPflash (its just saying "waiting for device") and it still didnt want to work. I tried to plug it in notebook and it didnt work too. Well so I could still go to recovery mode, because I'm using TWRP. I did factory reset and my phone worked again even plug in to PC still hasn't worked.
And today I decided to try flash stock kernel with boot.img via TWRP. Of course it didnt work, so I did a stupid thing and flashed older version of franco.kernel (I don't know why I did that.. Maybe I was thinking it will fix my problem with USB, because it started with flashing the newest version..eh) and then my phone can't go tho Google Logo. Well so I did factory reset again + system reset (really clever) via TWRP well then it didnt work of course (because of no ROM, system), so I remembered that I did nandroid backup before my first factory reset. So I did a restore of backup, but it still stuck at Google Logo and everything I can do now is:
Go to recovery mode (TWRP) or Odin mode (which is just saying "Downloading...")
So I can't flash my phone tho PC, cause it doesn't recognize it is plugged in and I really don't know, what can I do now. I also though that USB cable should be "bad", because I didn't use it too much (like few months ago) so I would buy new one, but I don't think it is that problem, because it worked last time when I rooted my phone with PC etc.(but as I said.. few months ago)
Well.. I hope there will be solution for that.
Thanks in advance for reply.

The problem is that my PC doesn't recognize it is connected (when I install drivers, there is "yellow triangle"). It is charging while its connected to PC, but its not working as USB device. If I could see my phone on PC, it could fix my problem and I could return to stock.
Phone is working, it can be charged, it works in recovery-mode (with TWRP) and odin mode, but it cant go tho google logo and PC doesn't recognize it is connected. That's the current status.
+ It's rooted and unlocked....So the warranty is breached and If I will send it back to shop for repair, I will pay a lot of money :-/

Hello, I'm a noob at phone rooting/modding, so I don't know if my phone is dead or just bricked.
Basically, yesterday at some point in the afternoon my phone stopped working. I had charged and used it in the morning as usual. I did not use my phone for like 5 hours and when I tried to turn the screen on, nothing happened. I tried holding the button down, and nothing. I tried connecting it to the charger, but no charging light came on. So it seems that at some point when I was not using the phone it either died or froze in some way and it's now unresponsive (even to holding the power+vol button). To be clear, I was not flashing anything or modifying the phone in any way.
My phone is the ATT Ion updated to the latest official firmware with superuser installed. But I installed superuser almost a year ago and have had no problems since then.
Any help is appreciated!

If it does then your phone does go into flashmode but your pc doesn't recognize it for some reason, download the new flashtool for xperia, install it, there will be a driver folder in flashtool directory, install all the drivers from it, then check again by connecting your ion to the pc in flashmode again and see if your pc recognizes it.

No the LED never comes on; neither when it's connected to the PC nor when it's charging.

Ok ?
What did you do ?
Did you try to install any MOD or anything of that sort ?
Give some details and i will try to HELP
Like I said in my first post, I wasn't using the phone at all. I charged and used the phone for a couple hours earlier in the day, then I left it for like 5 hours without using it all, not even checking the time or anything. Then I tried to turn the screen on to check the time and it didn't come on. Held the power button to see if it was off or something, but no response. At no point have I installed any mods, CFW, or anything; other then almost a year ago when I rooted and installed superuser.
looks like hardware issue then
well if you didn't do anything then its an hardware issue most likely...try holding the power and volume up rocker for 10 secs..else you might have to visit the service center
I tried holding the power+vol button, but there was no response. I took it to the service center and they will ship me a new one. I assume it was hardware failure as well, since it just died so suddenly. Too bad I can't retrieve some photos and delete my synced passwords.
Same problem with my first XS,good that I had warenty and gave it back, even ppl from Sony didn't know what the problem is so they gave me a new one.
