rom when all this happend: ilwlt 376
cwm recovery 3.0.2.4
I've rooted 2 phones, 2 tablets and debranded one. Last one(desire z) i had to debrand it and root it. Everything went smooth as it would. But just recently i had weird shutdowns and it went stuck very often. So i changed rom a few times to see if that could help it. I've tried several things... just few days ago it went HTC loop, I gived it 2 hour to try to boot but no :/
Here is status of current situation and problems which i know.
HTC startup logo loop
Takes time from hboot to boot for recovery(cwm).
eMMC fried? (recovery shows E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log and last_log)
So what should i do? :S
Thank you for reading
...sounds really bad
there are ways to confirm if its a broken emmc chip (google for it)
other thing you could try is to do a complete wipe through fastboot (i think its fastboot erase -w) and then flash a recovery through fastboot...
or try to recreate your partitions, means flash a ruu through fastboot
Or join the irc channel #g2root (and ask there for help)
Good luck

Hi guyz!
I just bought a second hand Desire from a guy i dont know, and it seems it has some issues. I know it is not bricked as i can enter the bootloader and the fastboot mode. But that's all. I cannot access any recovery i flash, or boot any rom.
I flashed several RUU's via bootloader, one of them is booting but it reboots as soon as it settles down. Others dont even boot.
I am familiar with flashing, with fastboot and all that, i just have no experience in HTC Desire.

So this is what i get. Is there a method to get some working ROM on this one, other than flashing RUU's that doesnt seem to work? Or flashing with recovery?
I have flashed clockwork recovery via fastboot, it still doesnt work. It vibrates 7 times than the screen stays at the htc logo.
Maybe there is a fastboot method to inject all the stock stuff into the phone? And maybe somebody have those img's?
Many thanks, guys!
what ruus are you flashing?
I flashed the ruus found here on xda. Anyway I managed to bring back my desire to stock hboot and rom. Now if I boot the phone without the sim, it works ok. When I insert a sim, it reboots right after the first boot, and enters in a boot loop. I guess this means a bricked modem chip on the mainboard....
Yes but exactly what ruus?

hello guys,please help.
i used to root my htc hd2.so i have some little knowledge in this rooting process.
so i try to root my brother's desire hd using advanced ace hack kit.
the process goes as follow.
at first,it ask to check the usb,sd damaged.recheck everything.
try again, everything works fine until s-on/s-off section, where an error occured.
press any keys to continue.
at the same time phone boots to recovery.
i thought this is a success until i hit
reboot system now.takes forever at htc logo.
place miui rom.change name to update.zip.
boot to recovery,install it.
cannot read or no files in update.zip.
try to rename the file to update only with automatic extension as .zip.
boot into recovery.
wipe cache partition.try to install update.(MIUI ROM)SUCCESS!
reboot now.
still HTC LOGO.takes forever.
now i realize it is something to do with the s-on because

exactly, i've the same problem.
i can boot to ClockWork Mod and i can install any custom ROM and the installation finished successfully and then the device is getting stuck in HTC logo screen.
is there any solution or idea to get "S-Off"?
have you tryed following this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964996
This might have been your case:
...
"Do NOT attempt to downgrade a Inspire or DHD shipped with Gingerbread with a Froyo RUU.
Do NOT attempt to install the ENG HBOOTs on these models.
Doing this WILL severely degrade bootloader performance on Inspires (and likely DHDs) and causes issues trying to install RUUs. In other words, it WILL jam you up. (Note: Issue now confirmed on later DHDs - ignore at your own risk)."
...
Get on the irc channel specified in the AAHK thread and ask for help there.
The guys there are really helpful.

Hey everyone. Been browsing these forums for a year now, haven't posted really, I'm kind of saddened that the first real post I have is a problem...
I have a Desire Z here (not mine), completely stock, never rooted or anything... the problem is that is will not boot, it just boot loops at the splash screen.. The strange thing is that I also cannot use the Recovery or Factory Reset options in the bootloader as they both also send the phone into a boot loop.
What can I try?

Thanks again to anyone that can take the time to help me out! Cheers.
That is a very interesting case you have there, its gonna be a pain in the ass to fix.
Have you tried a factory reset?
Do you know what software version was/is on the device?
-Nipqer
Factory Reset puts the device in a bootloop as well. I'm not sure what software verison was on the device, but my best guess is that it was never OTA updated so it likely has whichever rom the Bell HTC Desire Z ships with.
EDIT: Running "fastboot oem gencheckpt" gives me the following: "FAILED (status malformed (1 bytes))". I think this is really bad. Does this device have a fried CPU?
I'm fairly certain the FAILED (status malformed (1 bytes)) just means you ran the command in HBOOT instead of FASTBOOT mode, though even if you were in fastboot mode, you won't be able to use many commands as its a ship hboot.
You could try flash an official rom on it. You should be able to find one at shipped-roms.com, or at htcdev.com

Hey,
i have a problem with my Desire Z.
After installing CM7.1 it worked fine for about 5 days, then suddenly during the installation of an app it crushed, restarted itself and was caught in a reboot loop of nearly 40seconds.
So i reinstalled CM7.1... everything fine for 4 days... same problem, it appeared during the installation of an other app.
After that i tried to reinstall CM7.1 but no matter what i did, it always came up with the reboot loop... wipe cache, wipe data, factory reset, fix permissions... nothing did help.
So i found SuperWipe here on xda and tried it, and yep there we go, it worked again until today. The phone was a bit slow so i decided to shut it down, and then restart it, and there was it again, the bootloop.
I don't know what else i could do. So i wanted to send it back for warranty.
Now I'm searching for the right original Rom (RUU) and maybe a howto for that.

They're all stock roms and as you have S-OFF you should be able to flash them.
If RUU isn't working just flash one of the .zip roms there.
(Download the first *.zip file there, "Vision_TMOUS_1.12.531.0_Radio_12.18.60.05P_26.01.00.17_M2_144460.zip", rename it to exactly this name: PC10IMG.zip
Place it on the root of your sd-card and start the phone in h-boot, power+volume down button.... It'll check your SD card and ask if you'd like to update your phone.)
I don't know if after the flashing is done your H-Boot is also rewritten, but I believe it is.. So then you're unrooted as well.
If this bootloop behavior keeps happening, then your eMMC chip might be fried, if it's under warranty you could hand it in, after flashing a original rom. Then they'll replace the chip, or the entire motherboard.
Hi, it worked fine.

But if I start adb shell, I'm still root?
Any idea?
Greetings
Try this tutorial if you want to unroot.. then it should be back in stock conditions..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835971
But you also might want to wait and see if the boot-loop still exists before unrooting and handing it in.
Hi guys,
two days already I am trying to flash a custom ROM to my HTC Desire HD.
First I managed to unlock the bootloader using the Easy Ace Root Tool and installed ClockworkMod.
Then I tried flashing JellyTime 4.2 R11 and it got stuck at the HTC logo screen. I tried all kinds of suggestions from the forums about wiping / formatting via ClockworkMod but with no success.
Afterwards I used a second phone to put the Download Android Revolution HD 7.3 ROM on the SD card and flash it. This one went fine through the installation wizard but when I was back to ClockworkMod recovery mode I got: "Can't open /cache/recovery/log" "Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log". Then I selected reboot and it was hanging on the HTC logo again... I was waiting for a minute before I took the battery out... After this I tried "format /cache" from the CWM but didn't help either.
Then I tried using a RUU utility in fastbood mode to flash an official HTC ROM: RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.
It reached a particular point saying that the update failed.
I thought I cannot install the official ROM because I have unlocked the bootloader, so I locked it again using the htc fastboot utility. This didn't help either and the RUU failed again.
Here is what the bootloader currently shows:

I am at a point when I am ultimately confused and I don't know how much time I have (in terms of battery I mean )
So I have just a couple of shots before this turns into a beautiful piece of aluminium brick.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Pesho
Fixed
Fixed it.. Had to flash the boot.img using the fastboot utility.
