Woot! Looks like the US version on AT&T Will be getting this official of ATT!
http://www.phonedog.com/2012/03/22/...-get-ice-cream-sandwich-in-the-coming-months/

Awesome! Nice to get some official confirmation (finally).

http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=22620&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=34101&mapcode=consumer
There's the actual ATT Link
Some Vivid users were able to dial *#*#682#*#* to get the update (force), but it doesn't appear to work. Just a couple of months, then
EDIT;
Does anyone with stock want to try dialing that above code and accessing "Software Update"?

sweet, CyanogenMod 9 might be coming soon too

really? XD Can't wait

Does anyone know how to restore back to stock?

I think you reflash the stock ROM, not sure where you can find that though.

Oh nice, thanks! I just can't stop smiling )))

Cyanogen 6.1 Question

I messaged him today on Twitter about the release date for 6.1 and he replied with..
"CM 6.1 feature freeze will be this Sunday, then it's all bug fixes and refinements. Get your patches in now"
What does feature freeze mean? What does he mean by getting your patches in?
He means they will not be adding any more features or apps. Just making what's there run as smooth as possible.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
There is still no release date for the Captivate in Canada. We've been getting dicked around by Roger's for quite a while now. Until then, work your magic guys! Thanks for the excellent job!
It sounds like this could be released very soon. Was there any mention as to what will be included with 6.1?
Thanks again!
I didn't ask him I didn't want to come off as a pest. I'm pretty sure it's a lot but I'll wait until he pours release notes on his site. Hopefully by the end if this month or the next.
Sent while sitting on the toilet.
I'm sure he gets rush requests by the boatload.
I just got the Tweet that 2.2 is officially released for the Samsung Galaxy S phones. Will this change anything for Cyanogen 6.1?
You guys should be following the nightly thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729802
There are beta builds with all the 6.1 goodies. The first post contains info about what has changed, and if you read some latest comments, you will find out more cool info about what may be coming.
Are lagfixes device specific? Why wouldn't a lagfix be included with Cyanogen?
answer
When he says there is a feature freeze it means that they will stop adding new features and begin prepping for a release. And when he said get your patches in he assumed you where one of the devs but it means that Anny bug fixes you may have made while using a nightly send them in so that the releasevwill not have those bugs.
He tweeted lastnight that he hopes to have 6.1 rc1 out Tuesday
From the fade
4g must be the hardest thing ever for these guys. Impossible I guess. **** HTC is king then. They got a driver. No not for us tho. Uncle Jimmy says hello
Bet any release canidate or release wont have 4g. That really sucks. The evo is the only incomplete cyan rom out there I think:?
I know I sure as hell can't do it. Bunquetta, shameka

updates (not what you think)

Hello All,
I have been very lucky to acquire an LG GW910 phone which is now working very well.
My phone has OS version 7.0.7003.0 on it, but I have read that the phones that are currently available are running 7.0.7004. Does anyone know why my phone does not update to the latest version?
Will it receive the update that is expected at the beginning of 2011?
Thanks for your comments

when the phone is a retail (got it in a shop) one than you will get an update but when it is pre-retail(test phone/demo) then I don't know.
this may be a lil condescending but i don't mean it to be as sometimes the simple things get over looked (i know from personal experiences) have you checked that both tick boxes are ticked under the phone update tab in settings. I know the phone is supposed to check under wifi or when plugged in anyway but i wouldn't put my faith in this.
Hello,
Don't worry... I didn't take your comment badly... yes... both options are checked, and I have also asked the Zune client to check for updates.
The phone was won at one of the developers conferences, but I don't think that makes a difference does it? Why would a developer not receive the updates for their phone?
Oh well... when the update comes out, I am sure that I will then find out if I get it!!
If anyone can confirm if I will or will not get the update, your comments are much appreciated.
Regards.

My request for confirmation:
From the Pdf I got from WMPoweruser I read that updates on WP7 will not require any reinstallation, it will be seamless process - after update you get your phone at the same state it was before.
Anyone?
Anyone.........?

[Q] has anyone got the samsung firmware update?

I stopped by the other S4 forum (i9500/i9505) and noticed users reporting a new firmware update. Some mentioned faster transitions and camera updates as well as some other things.
Has anyone got a Ota of this? Or would we (T mobile) not get it?
Also wondering... if your rooted, would you even get a notification about it?
Thnx

The firmware of the international version is not the same as firmware released by carriers. Carriers add a lot of stuff to their firmware and they do their own testing on them. It may take months for a carrier to release an update after the international version got it.
Since this is a new phone, I am sure T-Mobile will eventually release an update (most likely several updates). Just be patient.

I found a website that has manual firmware updates for the different variations, but unfortunately I didn't save it. It's out there though, just Google it and I'm sure you'll run across it like I did, sorry couldn't be more assistance, if I find it again I'll post the link.
Edit: Okay I found it quicker than I thought I would, lol. Here's the link, hope it helps:

Thanks for the clarification and info guys.
Definitely patient.. I dont have many issues w my s4 except home key timing, so I was hoping for fix.
Maybe some one can take a look at new firmware and see if there is any info within that could benefit our (tmo) devices?
I would do it but im not as proficient and knowledgable as some of our other members.

I have the i9500 and got the update a few days ago. The description from the update manager was "improved stability" which means they are ironing out the kinks. Another thing that is going to be updated and will surely be on your variant is locked kernels. This is a kernel level that blocks superuser from even executing code. Workarounds will have to be found/kernels compiled.

if you're referring to the home button lag, then just disable s voice like everybody else did, even back in the days of the S3. go into the s voice app and hit the settings button on lower left of your phone, then tap settings, then un-check the 2nd option "open via the home key".
as far as updates, t-mo is usually the 1st or 2nd carrier to get it in the US, but nothing yet. i'm hoping they'd fix the camera shutter lag that i love from the old s3. sigh...

Verizon Visual Voicemail and Andtoif 4.3/Sense 5.5

I have been switching between NOS 2.01 and NuSense One and neither of the latest builds have Verizon Visual Voicemail functioning correctly. I do not currently have enough posts to post on developer forums but did not want to just post useless posts to meet the quota. Has anyone had any luck getting VVM working with 4.3/sense 5.5? Maybe someone has a separate flashable zip that can be applied. I have searched and cannot find any source. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not that I know. I have tried with other Roms on other phones and had the same problems. I finally just said f it and just started using Google voice
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
It seems like it worked on NuSense RC3 but camera was broken. Now in RC4 camera fixed and VVM broken. NOS 2.01 I can get to vvm to work but it reports media type not supported when attempting to play back message. So close yet so far away.

Working on a new build...
I recall dealing with this on the Thunderbolt and Dna as well and it shouldn't be too hard, except that I don't use it to be able to test.
May take one or two more shots at it to get it nailed down, hopefully not.

Thanks for the response. I have been trying to figure out how to get the problem posted to your thread. I have been flashing roms for years but apparently haven't been using xda. Thank you for your hard work on this Rom. It is awesome. If you need someone to beta your RCs I would be happy to. If you need me to try out the vvm tests I would be happy to as well. When I bought the One after running over my gnex, I thought my flashing days were over... So glad they are not. I thought I was a pure vanilla man, but I am suprised how much I like sense. Then add in 4.3 with sense 5.5 and it is awesome.
Thanks again for your hard work. Hopefully soon I will be able to post my findings directly to your thread .
I have a question

Did you ever come up with a fix for this? Im on the new viper rom that released the other day and miss some of the VZW features.
I remember this from my Droid Incredible days, it was a prop.build fix back then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953746&highlight=vvm
Change ro.HorizontalVVM=true to false, and use the attached app
Not sure if this will work or not.
You have to re-boot, and may have to rename the original VVM client to like bak or whatever

[Q] LuneOS Dualboot on Gnex?

In light of the newly-minted LuneOS alpha release, I was wondering if anyone had experience dualbooting webOS on their Galaxy Nexus? I know it's possible to do so with Android-based ROMs, but I want to keep my CM nightlies as a fall-back, especially since the LuneOS is in such an early stage and technically does not officially support the device (they're looking for community support *hinthint devs*). If you do, please drop a note with your experience in this area! Thanks in advance. :good:

Well,it would be cool, even with sailfish os,that i really love
Anyway for everybody who wants to try webos (LunaOs) http://webos-ports.org/wiki/Maguro_Info
I just saw the news on Engadget and came here to see if anyone was talking about this. I'm going to try this out since my GNex is mainly just sitting in a box now. I miss webOS.
The only thing I wonder about is that I have a Verizon GNex. If I don't use it for calls or anything, does it matter if I flash the Maguro version? I remember I was in the same boat with the Ubuntu phone port but I think I waited for the Toro port. I can't remember.

I looked for a long time, but nothing recent. there was one thing kind of similar, a few years back called 'itching thumb' http://www.xda-developers.com/android/use-itching-thumb-to-multitask-in-android/ but was discontinued long ago.
Yeah, well I just checked the comments on their official release post, and after some helpful replies I can (sadly) announce that there is no dual-boot support. Also, the latest build they have is a couple weeks old, since they no longer have a maintainer for the device The post is here, if any of you want to skim it . So at this point it's either flash a build that's dated, without a fall-back that would come with dual-booting, or wait and see

Yes, I just noticed haha my bad. I was just paraphrasing a comment off of the post I linked to. Shame there's only dual-booting available on the Touchpad (for now at least). I'll probably wait until the next stable release or so before diving in.

im flashing it on a toroplus right now, gonna let you guys know how it goes when it finishes. on a related note, make sure to wipe /system before you flash, because the updater script doesnt do that. i had cm11 installed on there before and forgot to do it, so im reflashing clean now.
also, it looks like at least some of the android file system is retained, so that means we may be able to get data working by pulling libs from a 4.2.2 rom. dont quote me on that, ill try it and see what happens when i get this thing to boot. I pulled apart the boot.img and nothing seems to be stopping us there either from what I can tell.
edit: as much as i wish this worked, dont waste time flashing it if your not a maguro device. doesnt boot on toroplus, prolly wont boot on toro either.

That's too bad. What are you getting when it tries to boot? Have you let it sit for a while before coming to that conclusion? Maybe it doesn't have any sort of booting indication.
Update: I ended up going for it, and flashed the stable build onto my maguro. Worked, but none of the apps would open again after I had closed them for some reason (If I wanted to open Preware 2 again, I had to reboot the device...). The dev build wouldn't boot at all after flashing, so I'm running on the August 10th stable build.

Well that sucks. Hopefully someone picks up development for this device. I'd like to try it out eventually. I have an HP Touchpad but it has Android on it as well. I havent looked into it yet but installing this might need a full wipe. I don't want to go through the hassel of starting all over again. lol

You're right, flashing it on your nexus pretty much requires a full wipe lol. The Gnex doesn't have dual-boot capability for LuneOS (yet!! ). I asked in the comments of the announcement post. Fingers crossed for that, though! Really hoping a dev steps out and continues the project, even if it's just on the side.

Any luck with the August 10th build? My build can't activate developer options (Settings--> Developer Options, flicked the switch, still says "Developer mode is disabled"-->entered Konami Code into search, tapped on the dev mode result, nothing happened), so I can't activate USB Debugging or anything like that. On top of that, the phone takes forever to even boot into the Google screen, and I can't get into Recovery or Fastboot mode. In essence, even if I wanted to re-attempt to flash the nightly or go back to Android, I can't. I was hoping to go try the PA 4.6 Beta on my Gnex, so I was a bit gutted. Any ideas??

yep no luck for me here, mine just wont boot into it at all. I can still access fastboot though, holding both volume buttons from and power from completely off doesnt get you into fastboot? if your volume button hardware has gone bad, i know you can buy new on ebay for cheap, might have to do that. sorry to hear about your problem, and I hope you get it fixed somehow.
