[Q] Device hanging at wipe data / factory reset - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
Having a big issue here. Can get into CWM no problem, but when I go to wipe data / factory reset - the phone just sits there.
I let it sit there for a few minutes and the phone basically just became unresponsive. Ended up having to pull the battery.
I one click rooted with no problems, but just can't get passed this wipe in order to flash a new ROM.
Any help is deeply appreciated.

You are rooted but are you s-off? Do you have busybox installed? If not install it. Can you go to the mounts and storage menu in recovery, and format everything except sdcard and emmc? Bassicly doing a factory reset manually.

[Q] Rooted phone

I have a rooted Incredible and I have some issues with it right now, i tried to restore the backup i created and i get an error, i have wipped everything from the phone and i cant get it to reset to factory. Any ways to help out with this?
What issues are you having? If all you did was root the phone and that was all, i highly doubt that the issues are because of root.
i attempted to install vanilla skyraider, i backed up the orginal skyraider and now when i tried to restore the skyraider backup i get a error
Please help me, I have messed up my phone pretty bad. When I rebot my phone it goes through the normal process (Skyraider is the ROM I am using) and after the boot is finished it should proceed to the home screen but instead it takes me to a screen that has the Andoriod Logo and says tough andriod to begin, the catch is when i touch the logo nothing happens. I have attempted to factory reset to aviod the screen but i still get it back! Please help! Im in need!!

You don't have a functioning backup? Then I would try wiping everything (wipe data/factory reset, cache and dalvik cache), re-downloading and flashing the ROM (any of your choice), the file might have been corrupted some how. Good luck
I had a backup and when i went to restore it through clorkworkmod recovery it doesnt work and i dont understand why,

[Q] Possibly bricked?

EVO 4g
My phone is rooted
im using MikG-v3.11-signed
*My phone was running slow, freezing, no text messages were coming in
* I went to my bootloader, then recovery, then wipe then wipe ALL userdata/factory reset
My phone turns on but now when it gets to the home, nothing is there like lock screen just a black screen
Is it bricked? If not, is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thank you!

Ok re-read what you just posted,"I went to my bootloader, then recovery, then wipe then wipe ALL userdata/factory reset"this means you dont have an operating system anymore, hence the black screen.Go back to recovery and rewipe everything and reinstall a rom or restore the nandroid you should have taken, then reboot and you should be good, now the reason your system is slowing down is the clutter on your internal and sd card, you need to backup, format and partition your sd card.
^^This.
I'm not sure how supported that particular ROM is anymore, so you might want to check the thread for that ROM and see if anybody else was having the same issues. Might not hurt to try something else.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus Bootloop with JB

I am rooted and was on PA 3.99 when suddenly the phone got switched off and started the bootloop,
Here is the list of the things I have already tried
1) Wipe Data
2) Wipe Dalvik
3) Unroot
4) Lock again
5) Flash factory
there was a time when there was no rom on the phone.
Surprisingly when I flash factory ICS it starts but after 10 mins of bootloop,
and if I flash factory JB it bootloops till the battery drains off.
Even when flashed factory ICS it asked for the over the air update and when I did it, It again started doing bootloops.
Is this problem with the hardware or software?
I love this phone, I dont want to switch. Please help

[Q] Phone randomly freezing

Please bare with me, I'm trying to think of every possible detail for anyone to help me with this....
My brother gave me his Note 2 to "fix" because it was stuck in a boot loop and would randomly freeze. It was 100% stock, unrooted and less than a year old. The problem started when the phone auto-updated to 4.4.2. After investigating and tinkering around, I got it out of the boot loop (I just wiped the cache). Upon reboot, the phone would function normally for up to 90 seconds (approx) then freeze. The only way to unfreeze was to battery pull, holding the power button down didn't work. After repeating the reboot process several times I realized that each time it attempted to do a system update. I looked for a way to disable the auto-update feature and was unable to find it.
My next thought went to rooting and flashing a custom ROM. After all, if the problem was with the stock, flashing would fix that. I have rooted, installed philz recovery and flashed the Alliance ROM. I wiped all cache and booted her up. To my dismay, it's still freezing. I've gotten past the boot screen and am now freezing in different places on the "android is upgrading" screen. Each freeze causes me to have to battery pull and start over.
I am out of ideas. I would like to be able to fix this phone and put service on it. Thank you in advance for all help!

Make sure you are using philz recovery (6.07.9 recommended). You will need to wipe the internal sdcard. Go under mounts option and select wipe /data /data/media option then go to reboot menu and reboot recovery. Now install rom and see how if that works.

Thank you!
I wiped the internal SD. That enabled me to format the phone then install the Liquid Smooth ROM. So far so good. It's been 48 hours with no problems.
Thanks again for your help!

Black screen LG G4 H812?

screen went black, and now I cant do anything. Phone boots normally. LED indicator at the top shows that the phone is booting fine. (the top half also gets super hot for some reason?)
Any ideas on how to get it back? Or is it bricked?

If you are still on the stock recovery originally installed, see if you can boot it manually into Recovery mode. If the screen shows in Recovery mode, chances are you have developed a corruption from something you installed etc., not bricked it. You can try wiping Cache when in Recovery mode but I suspect you will have do a Factory Reset from there. If you have installed a custom recovery and have a known good backup, you could restore that or re-install the rom in a clean flash (wiping Cache, Dalvik cache, System and importantly, format Data > Yes.
Failing that, you may have to replace the screen or send it in for repair if it is a hardware issue.

I just flashed a 100% stock rom with putting the phone in download mode and using LGUP, same problem... Guess it's bricked :/
It's not even worth it to repair, I just wanted to see if I could fix it myself
Thanks anyways

If you were able to see the download mode screen, it is more than likely not a hardware issue. You have to do a full wipe (preferably, Cache, Dalvik cache, System and Data (best would be a format of the data partition), to get rid of any data/rom corruption that may be causing the black screen issue. If you did not do this, try that first, making sure you re-install the same original rom that the phone came with, before junking the phone.
