[Q] Darkforest rom 3.0.5 error - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I am looking for some help solving this problem:
When I have the darkforest rom 3.0.5 for CDMA flashed, the android media process force closes like no other. This prevents me from downloading ANYTHING and I am getting really frustratsed with this.
If you don't know how to fix it, then just tell me what custom rom you use so I can find an alternative.
SPECS:
R800x
2.3.3 Stock rom
Doomkernel
Thanks,
Mason

The same happened when I used to use this, but I somehow fixed it, have no idea how. I really wanted to use this ROM again and I realized that I'm back at the FC's. I had to revive this because formatting /data/ didn't fix it.
EDIT: GOT IT! Okay, here's exactly what I did to fix it! Make sure it's installed already, if you have the force closing problem, go back into recovery, and do a factory reset on it, then in the ROM's installer, uncheck EVERYTHING except "format /data/," After rebooting, everything should be just fine!

MIUI Force close

I'm running the latest version of Clockworkmod which looks like it is most likely my problem for constant force closes on all my apps but i'm wondering if i can downgrade clockworkmod version to fix this if rom manager and all my other apps keep force closing? Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated. Sorry if this is posted somewhere else also I tried a search but didn't see any solutions.
I think you and I might have the same problem going on. All of my apps are force closing, but I am not sure if mine has to do with clock work mod or not. I still have not found a solution to my problem.
This may seem obvious to you and I apologize if it does but, did you wipe data and cache prior to flashing MIUI? I was running it recently without any issues at all. And I keep the latest version of CWM. It's an excellent rom. Smooth as butter.
Edit: I was running MIUI 1.2.19 with invisiblek, #28, by the way.

There is some speculation that CWM3 isn't wiping as well as CWM2 did... I can certainly confirm that it does not seem to clean everything out for a new MIUI install. On MIUI forums you can find a script to wipe everything first, or you can just open the "mounts" section and manually format /boot and /system. This seems to do the trick.

I can't say I've had any issues, personally but, I've definitely seen several comments about this around the forums. I plan on flashing back to MIUI soon. Just to be safe, I'll be looking for that script before I do it. Thanks for the heads up.

The way I solved my mass force close issue was to do a factory reset and then flash the rom I wanted. Maybe that will solve your problem also?
I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling an app a couple times and it started working just fine, another question though. What's the best version of miui? And also what are the miui ports for? New to this Rom but its pretty seemless

Alright so this is odd, just updated to 1.1.28.1 version and none of my apps whether from the market or SD card will work on the first install, I must uninstall then reinstall for them to work. Anyone else have this going on? I guess its not a HUGE deal but still just weird

It seems likely that cwr 3 is a pos that is causing all these issues. I have started manually wiping everything needed to be wiped in mounts and my problems went away. Another alternative is to go back to cwr 2.5

MIUI Ports are the current versions of MIUI. The person who was creating the Inc builds used to be NIX, but when he passed the torch to Warttack, they needed to call it something different in ROM Manager (different packager, different section I guess). So basically, you should always be using the latest in MIUI Ports.
Everything is force closing on my nook color cm7 SD card. I am not much of a techie...any help would be appreciated. thank you.
Try fix permissions in ROM manager. You should post this in the nook color forum though.

[Q] Marketproblems after flashing Cyanogen 7.0

I have had Cyanogen 7 on my phone for about a week now, an recently i got problems with downloading most apps from the market. I have tried to clear cache and fix permission in ROM manager. And have allso innstalled GAPPS, but nothing seems to work. Has someone experienced simular problems, and maybe found a solution for it?
I really hope someone can help. I really like this ROM, so I want to try out everything before I switch to another.
Try cyanogenmod forums. There are a few threads about this (for example cyanogenmod->desire-gsm->experimental mod) . Have you wiped everything before installing?
I have CM7 installed on my Desire. I only have problems when trying to down Google Maps or Adobe Air. Apart from that I can download apps from the market. Try installing GAPPS from Recovery.
Thanks for the answers guys. Have allready innstalled Gapps from recovery, didnt seem to have any effect. Wiped everything before flashing to, but think im going to try to re-flash and see what happens. Read some place that you had to re-flash before innstalling GAPPS. Againg, thanks for the answers

No problem. Hope you get it fixed mate
I switched ROM to defrost, and it runs really smooth. So ill just keep that to cyanogen upgrades and fix their issues

[Q] Rooted Incredible sans market access

Alright so long story short, just bought a 2 month old incredible off my buddy because he is a mactard and HAD to have an iphone.
The phone was rooted but I wanted to start from scratch so I formatted the sd card and performed a factory reset (within the phone, not thru recovery). In doing so, I no longer have access to the market - simply says "you don't have this application installed on your phone" when i try to open.
What is my best bet? Can I just flash a new rom and instal it in recovery? Is it possible to unroot at this point?
PS - I haven't set up the phone on the Verizon network yet so could this be the reason I can't access the market?
Any advice is much appreciated!!
sounds like you need to install google apps.
It would help if you said which rom you're on or if you're running stock but it does sound like flashing Google apps could fix your problem. Latest version is 5/3/11.

My bad,
Rom: The Ultimate Droid 3.3.0
Android Version: 2.3.3
Kernel Version: [email protected] #27
Definitely try flashing Google apps, should get your market back.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
THanks I'll try that...you wouldn't happen to have a link to the .apk would you?
Its not an .apk, its a zip file flashed through recovery. ROM Manager has a GAPPS section at the very bottom under "Download ROM".

Ah that's right, I remember reading that in another forum...
Say I want a different rom though..if I simply flash a new one, will my Google apps exist?
Sorry for the rookie questions, still navigating my way thru the world of root, appreciate your guys' patience!
Pretty sure Google apps only need to be flashed with aosp roms, every sense rom I've flashed had the market and typical Google apps included.

THanks...now for the final question. Just dled OMFGB and Gapps...which do I flash first? And do I need to do another davlik wipe after the 1st flash?
Again, many thanks for your help!

Nevermind we're good!

Can't install new roms!! WTF? Bootlooping!?!

I have been trying to hook a buddy of mine up with a new rom for his Evo, basically make it exactly like mine with the newest Fresh Rom. I rooted his phone with Revolutionary and it all went just fine, the phone is now rooted with Superuser successfully installed. I put the Fresh zip on his SD card, wiped everything as you are supposed to, and then flashed the zip. It flashes fine and boots up, loads to the lockscreen and setup, but then reboots and does the whole process again, basically a bootloop. I have tried various roms and kernels, wiped over and over again, redownloaded the file, etc., but nothing seems to work. Am I missing something?! I never had this issue installing this rom on my phone. Any help would be appreciated!
try using a different recovery
Something other than RA? What do you suggest? CWM is crap isn't it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Give newer versions on CWM its work just fine for me. I never had a problem.
Sloth
I am skeptical that a different recovery will fix the problem, but I will give it a try and report back. Is there anything else anyone can come up with?
I had a really weird issue where I couldn't flash any of the Gingerbread roms a while back, and had flashed goodness knows how many since I bought my evo on launch day and rooted it day one when it was available.
Trying different recovery versions might help, but if it doesn't, I'd suggest to unroot it and start all over. Find a post in the dev section on unrooting, go back to the stock sprint rom, and start over.
I did that, and was then able to flash all gingerbread roms and get them to not bootloop.
I'm not the only one that was having the problem, but NO devs could/would help figure it out. Not even flipz. Give it a shot.
Thanks for the info, I will try to Recovery thing first and then do a full wipe out and start over from a stock rom. The weird thing about it is that this is the first time this phone has been rooted and the first attempt at flashing roms.
Just curious, how many times does it reboot?? Over and over and over, or are you pulling the battery after the first or send time?
Over and over
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Try recovery and fast boot from there.
Sloth
I changed recoveries to clock work, and it did not make a difference. I continued to get the same boot loop as before with RA. I just wiped out the entire system, and went into the boot loader to unroot back to stock. I will report back my results once I am done

Either change you clockworkmod or try something else. Dam man that sucks.

Changing up the recovery did nothing to fix my problem. I unrooted his phone, regained s-on, flashed a stock rom and am starting over. I will report back my results.
Well damnit anyway, starting all over from scratch did nothing as well. Still get the same damn bootloop. WTF!?!? Anyone else have any other ideas?
I've read every post and I can't think of anything that would help. You think it's a software issue, like inside the phone itself might be bad?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Is this something that could be discovered on a logcat? I have never done one or know how they work, but would anyone be willing to diagnose the problem if I am able to get a logcat?
Damn that sucks. What your status. Did you fix the bootloop?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Still no fix discovered, any help on this would be greatly appreciated

What's interesting, is that this is the exact same boot loop problem I was having on my Evo when trying to flash any sense 3.0 rom.

Have you tried using / flashing any of the zips that are prepackaged " wipes " ?
Have you tried using TWRP recovery ?
I never had any problems while using RA but had numerous failed flashes with Clockwork.
TWRP has been stellar so far ... no failed flashes yet.

[Q] Need Help Restoring Phone

Hello,
My friend has a galaxy s2 and recently his son somehow managed to get a virus on it. I have a lot of experience with rooting, flashing, and all that fun stuff. Especially with the t mobile galaxy s2 since I have one as well. He asked me If I can restore his phone back to a new rom since it was acting weird. For example, if he saves a new contact or installs or uninstalls an app, if he reboots all those changes are gone. It is as if the phone keeps rebooting to a certain time. I am guessing a virus is causing this.
So the first I thought of was to download a rom (Jedi Knight 6) and did the typical wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache/dalvik, then flashed the rom with success. When I rebooted the phone, it was still the same, as if I did nothing in the recovery. I thought it may have been because I was CWM, so I installed goo manager and flashed the TWRP recovery through there. It gave me success but when I boot to recovery, it is still CWM. At this point I decided to use ODIN to restore it to the original stock rom. I followed the instructions here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858435. First time I got a fail on ODIN, removed the battery and tried again and it gave me pass and the phone rebooted. When it did guess what? It was as if I did nothing.
I ran out of ideas. I did everything I can think of. I used the custom recovery to try to wipe everything and flash a new fresh rom but that failed. I even tried ODIN to restore it to stock but that failed as well. Is there anything else I can try? I did a lot of research but couldn't find anything, maybe someone can give me some tips?? Thank You in Advance!!
Can someone please help me?
This sounds very strange. You said even after you Odin back to stock it reverted back to what he had before you reinstall the stock ROM ? Was the phone rooted before you tried to help him?
Did you try an aosp ROM?

Yea I know its strange, and its not like I have no experience with these things. I was very suprised when that happened. Yes it was and is still rooted, Im sure because super su is on it. He is currently running JediMindTrick (ROM by ptmr3). I still dont know what to do. I will try an aosp rom, but if odin didnt do it I doubt another rom would lol.

Try wiping cache and dalvik. Then format system, data, cache using cwm. Factory reset then flash new rom using cwm or odin.
