my htc is rooted and s-off
I can not copy the rom from the sd card in my PC. the transfer locks up with this error (path too long) the only rom that I can copy is 'LeeDrOiD_V2.5.0_A2SD_FINAL.zip, all other (muiu, update-cm-7.1.0-Desire-signed.zip and Oxygen is blocked by the above problem. I changed my sd card but the problem persists. if I try to copy any other files I have no problems. same problem in recovery mode
What if you rename the file?
If not already done, maybe try to copy to the root path (C:\ for Windows) of your hard drive, to avoid long path name limitation.
This is a Windows* OS/file system issue. If your folder destination path is too long(more than 255 characters in Windows),you can come across a long path error. You can fix it with additional softwares like Long Path Tool.
PathTooDeep.com
I hope that it will help you!
Good luck!
Cheers!
You need to try the Long Path Tool, helped me.

Ok got a SD card and put on a new rom how can I make it load the info from th card. Also everytime I try and make a nbf file type it erros on me.
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739write xip block starting at 81800000, with 3 fileswrite xip block starting at 81980000, with 0 filesheader : No such file or directoryError creating new rom
I picked nb1 said was for flashing with SD card and can't get it to load.
What's your current ROM ? ... maybe all you need is to load the XDAunlock.exe tool http://www.xda-developers.com/XDAunlock/
Anyway, to use the SD the best way is to cook the ROM as EXE, then use WinRAR or Winzip to extract the NK file from the English subdirectory. Use XDAtools to move this file to the SD card using the device and activesync. Insert the SD in your device, if it will ask you to format press NO. Go to the bootloader menu (power + soft reset) it should recognize the SD content and will ask you to press Action.
PS: this is valid for bootloader 5.15 and 5.17
Hello there,
I need help with this error on my DZ:
'unable to install application data on the device. Error: /mnt/sdcard/Tecarta/50.dat_temp (I/O error).'
The application I was trying to launch is the NKJV Bible software.
Thanks for your advice.
So is this a new SD card that you haven't used before now ?

Correct, I only received it yesterday, and have spent hours formating and reformating to get rid of the "read only" error, and to copy the contents of the original 8GB that came with phone. But now have this problem.
Thanks.
Can you use it normally otherwise in the phone ? e.g. can you copy files to it within terminal emulator, or push files to it via adb etc ?

I have not tried that. All I have used is the windows copy as well as making a .wrar file out of the 8gb contents, and then extracting the .wrar to the 32gb card.
Any suggestions?

I would try to copy some files to it via Terminal Emulator, an "explorer" program or similar - so you can see if the phone just doesn't like the SD card, or whether it's only giving an error when installing an app.

The copy command is "cp", so try something like :
Code:
cp /tmp/xyz /sdcard
If it works ok it should just come back to the command prompt. Also you can do "ls /sdcard" to see everything there, e.g. see if it really did copy it to the SD card.

Thanks. I will try it out.
EDIT: Solved. I had to follow advice from somewhere on the web. I had to put the card in a reader on my windows pc. Navigate to "Computer", then right-click drive "H" (that is what the msd card is on my pc), then click "Properties". After that, I selected "Tools", than clicked "Check now", and clicked "start". However, making sure that the first box (automatically fix file system errors) is checked. Leave "scan for and attempt..." unchecked.
Let the pc do its thing, and when it is done, that is it!
But hey, thanks steviewevie for being there and for being prompt to help me and others get our way around Android.
Hello, I've recently uninstalled and wiped my SD card of Android. Now I'm trying to install it from the latest (01/23) cab file and I keep getting an installation error when running it on my phone. I've also tried to extract the cab file manually on my computer with 7-Zip, but I get decompression errors. And when I unrar the .rar file I get a completely flattened directory structure.
What am I doing wrong here?
Delete all the Android files and folders from your SD card. This means the Android, andboot, and any other Android related folders that may have been created by apps and such.
Copy everything that's left off of your SD card onto your computer.
Format the card to FAT32.
Put all the stuff back onto your SD card.
Reinstall XDAndroid.
I've never had luck with the cab. I think it has something to do with the size, and how the device handles cabs. For me, it has been easier to download the rar file, extract that on the desktop, and then copy over the andboot directory to your sdcard.
I usually create a staging location on the hard drive before copying it to the device. Doing this allows you to customize the files/configs: edit the startup.txt file on the desktop, replace the original rootfs with F22's new file that allows for keyboard mappings, etc. Then when it's all finished, simply copy the directory to the sdcard.

I tried this and it didn't work. Got an error half way through the install.
For pohket's suggestion, I'm limited to Linux tools, and unrar extracts a flat directory structure for me, so there isn't like an `andboot` or other such directories, just every file, which I don't know how to organize.
I ended up using an old release from November 1, 2010. It's been the most stable release I've used so far. (and also the only release I had saved on my computer)

I have the feeling the latest cab file was not working too well. In the end I used the rar files as well and extracted those.
the cab doesn't work!!!

I had the same problem with that cab, I did everything: erase, format, copy, download - many times from different computers...but doesn't work at all. You should download the RAR file and uncompress into the fat32 - SD card. Worked at the first time.
ps: this FRX04 2.2.1 is quite slower than the FRX03!!!
Also, it halts everytime!!! (in my rhodium 210).
Hi,
for a few days, i have a problem with the download folder on my sdcard.
if i access the 'download' folder with a file-manager (like ASTRO or any other..),
i get a notification, that there is an error (i guess an access-error) with the sd-card. (and the filemanager shuts down after a few seconds)
In the 'download' folder there are some strange files, which i can not access, delete, rename etc..
some have the size of 0 k, some have a few MBs and some have a size of almost 500-600 MB.
i don't know where they come from and what they really do. also the filenames are pretty weird. (the names contain 'at'-sign ...).
if this error occurs and i open the camera, there is also a notification, that i cannot take any pictures due to an sdcard-error.
does anyone know what these files are? or what to do?
kind regards
Markus
If you hava a card-reader I would take the card out and delete the files with a PC.
A Card reader is not available. But if I connect my DHD via usb and access as a hard drive,I can see the files, but cannot access them. No read / write access.
What I haven't done yet, to copy all the files from my sdcard to my pc, format the sdcard from my pc and copy all the data back. (of course only the data which are accessable). Hopefully it will not harm my desire hd.
M.
If you use Linux you definitely can mount the SD-card and do what you want with the files there (you may have to become root) but it is acutally quite easy.
I just dit it on my DHD.
If you don't have Linux installed, just download an Ubuntu Live-CD, boot from it, plug in your DHD via usb, select "drive mode" (or whatever it is called) on the DHD, go to the directory where the card is now mounted, solve your DHD problem and you don't even leave a trace on you harddrive.
Hey everyone,
I am trying to copy my Titanium Backup files from internal storage to my computer's hard disk. I plug my VS9854G to my USB2 port and it links up (MTP), fine. I can select the files in the TB directory but when I "paste" them in a directory on my computer I keep getting an error message "error copying files or folder" about 8 files into the copy process and displays a dialog box (error copying files or folders), and it quites.
Is this a long-file-name issue or linux-to-windows device storage, or permissions types issue? Anyone having this issue. I know it is something right in front of me I am just missing.
tom
i had the same problem. solved it with making a zip archive on the phone from the titanium folder and transfer this to pc.
Thanks for the reply
Many thanks but to tell you the truth I was able to do to CMD/DOS and use "Xcopy"".....it's gotta be permissions?
