[Q] (Q)aio v6.0.4.3 low memory warning - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i installed aio v6.0.4.3 but i have two errors-faults:
low memory warning
and battery sign freeze.
Does anybode knows how to fix them??
i saw this:
"(Q) My phone is giving me low memory warnings – Help!
(A) There are two possible reasons:
1. If you are using AD2SD and haven’t moved the Dalvik to the SD Card it can be taking up a lot of room in the phone.
2. All apps, even when they are on the SD Card due to AD2SDX, still have some component in the phone; eventually the phone memory will become low. Test this by getting Cache Cleaner from the market and use it to clear the cache and see if the low memory warnings stop. If you can’t install Cache Cleaner because memory is too low, boot into recovery, clear the Cache (but NOT the Dalvik cache) and then reboot. Then try installing the Cache Cleaner app."
I tried wipe cache and wipe cache app but it worked just once now i stuck!I can not fix it.So i thing of trying to do the 1st suggestion but i was thinging.....during installation i pressed(if i remember well)APP2SD,there was no other option. After installing rom i flashed AD2SDX file as this link says: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18911182&postcount=1784
(i mean this: "INSTALLATION
Copy ad2sdx-1.00-RCxx.zip into Your Storage Card
Go To Recovery Mode
Full Wipe Your Phone!
Flash The Sebastiaan15 RunnyMede Desire ROM
Flash/Run ad2sdx-1.00-RCxx.zip Directly After Flashing ROM
Reboot"
so sould i move the Dalvik to the SD Card.
thanks a lot.

sd card
Sounds like its most likely your SD card. Backup everything off it onto computer, then format it, get rid of all partitions for eg. App2sd just to be safe, then put update file on SD card again, full phone wipe, dalvik cache wipe, and you should be ok. Mess about with app2sd once your bit more experienced.

Are you new to flashing custom roms? the first boot can take a while fyi
do a full wipe and wipe the dalvik cache before you flash the 3.3 rom
it must be that you didnt flash it properly, the 3.3 rom boots without problems on the hero
wipe/factory reset
wipe dalvik
wipe/factory rest
off
boot recovery
flash
reboot
setup
reboot
done!

Nope... I'm not new to flashing ROM. Almost flash to the level where I need to in an Anonymous Flash-oholics group.
I did do a full wipe and wipe the dalvik cache before I flashed the 3.3 rom.
I also re-flashed, tryed wipeing before and after, wiped the dalvik cache before and after...
The reason I do not have a ext part on my SD is, that I do not install so many applications, that I run out of space. And the speed of the internal mem is alot faster.
For keeping my apps between flashs, I find titanium back to be the best solution.
Is a ext part need to run the 3.3? I ran almost all the other villain rom version, without a ext part.

Hey,
I also have problems installing 3.3 ROM. I have a running 3.2 VillainROM but 3.3 will just not install! I did factory/ rest wipe + Davlik wipe but stuck @ bootscreen again! I do have a ext3 (or 2) partition which I did not flash, but the installing of 3.2 worked fine so I guess its a problem with 3.3...

[Q] Cyanogenmod v.7 and dalvik cache

Recently I've managed to root using Unrevoked and flash a new ROM to my HTC Desire, I currently have Cyanogenmod v.7 RC2 running and it's fantastic!
However I'm already running low of internal memory.
I've done some reading about how to boost this by setting up a partition on my memory card, however there are some things that don't quite add up in my head. Below is a list of what I think I need to do to obtain A2SD+ for Cyanogenmod v.7 RC2, correct me if I'm wrong anywhere please
Make a backup using ROM manager
Copy all important data from memory card as I will have to format it - This includes the backup.
Use ROM manager to format the SD card and create a ext3 partition
Download S2E (Simple2ext) from the android marketplace and tick the box to move the dalvik cache to the SD card.
If the process list above is correct then my questions are:
Do I need to have obtained S-OFF to complete this process?
Do you need to start from a clean slate when moving the dalvik cache, i.e. should I factory-reset/wipe dalvik cache/wipe cache and then install Cyanogenmod v.7 RC2 again?
When you move over the dalvik cache is this a permanent move? For example if I had problem booting and I went through the factory-reset/wipe dalvik cache/wipe cache and then install Cyanogenmod v.7 RC2 again would this reset the dalvik cache back to its original location on the internal memory? Or would something more complicated need to be done to achieve this?
Thank you in advance for any help,
I'm slowly learning the basics

Bump,
any help would be greatly appreciated.
For any tl;dr
I really just want to know if moving the Dalvik cache to the SD card is permanent? Or will a full re-flash restore the dalviks original path back to the internal memory?
1) No.
2) No, don't do anything.
3) The dalvik cache does get moved but not too sure if it's permanent.
I would say to move dalvik cache back to internal, you would have to wipe /system because it's a script that gets installed as you need to remove the script. It's not permanent the way your thinking of. Just if you move it using the script then I don't think you can move it back whilst the script is installed. When the script is removed it will reset and go back to internal. Does that even make any sense?

[Q] Ginger Villain 3.3 on HTC Desire Boot Loops

Hi All,
I flashed Ginger Villain 3.3 for about a month now. I came from runnymede ROM but decided to just go vanilla with Ginger Villain. Just this morning my phone started to freeze when I tried sending SMS. Other freezes include opening phone settings etc.
I rebooted my phone then my SD Card cannot be detected anymore. I rebooted again then thankfully my SD Card has been detected however I started to get the message Low Memory for my Phone Storage. When I checked my applications via Manage Applications under settings there is only 68kb left. It looks like my phone's dalvic cache was once again moved to my internal. I rebooted my phone again and now it just keeps on showing the gingervillain boot animation over and over.
Here are some additional details:
Remaining external storage memory is 2.3GB/16GB
Remaining phone storage after moving dalvic cache to SD is 72mb/156mb
Created an EXT4 partition of 256mb via alpharev recovery menu.
Flashed the rom without any modification i.e. kernel, radio etc.
I also use HoneyComb as themes.
Noticed that when I play games the OC Beater that is pre installed with GingerVillain keeps on opening even though OC/UC are not set.
I've already tried wiping both the dalvic cache and the cache partition, still the phone is in boot loop state.
I hope someone could help me. Thanks so much in advanced!
Flash ROM with only wiping cache and dalvik cache, so just over current installation.
Swyped from ICS with Transparent XDA App
Already tried that. Didn't work. Anyways I wiped data, cache and dalvic cache. Flashed new ROM now. Should I delete this thread or just let it be for others reference?
You can't delete a thread, only mods can do it. But as XDA is made for helping, don't even ask a mod for it. Better write if flashing a new ROM worked for you.

Problem clearing Dalvik cache

When I am trying to clear the Dalvik cache as a step in installing whatever ROM I am getting an error message.
When I go into Advanced>Wipe Dalvik Cache> as soon as I select Wipe and it asks me if I'm sure, a line shows up that says "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]". When I scroll down and say yes it gives me a message that says it worked.
The SD card is actually at [/external_sd]. So did it work, or is it lying to itself?
I'm confused about why it's looking for the Dalvik cache on the external SD. I thought that would be internal. What do I need to change so that CWM (and my OS?) is looking for the external in the right place?
I discovered this when I was installing Jugs 3.7. It installed clean and is working just fine. This error message also reproduced itself when I installed Domination 2.0 with the ICS theme. That rom also installed correctly and, as far as I could tell in the hour I was playing with it, had no glitches.

Mine says the same with the volume ....I thought it was just me....but everything runs perfect so I didn't wanna bring it up
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA Premium App
Same here...not worried. All works without a glitch.

BeastMOD Faux'ed to 1000HP
You can ignore that error. Almost everyone will get it.
The reason being, there are ext to sd scripts that people use on other devices that have very low internal storage. So they will move the /data partition to sd-ext. Now since the dalvik-cache is located in the /data partition, the wipe dalvik cache script inside cwm will auto-wipe to both locations, just incase. Since our phones don't really need this, we have tons of internal storage, we don't utilize those scripts.
Also don't confuse this with apps 2 sd scripts, or just moving apps to your sdcard, it's not the same thing.

[Q] Sudden boots! Wiping phone and formatting new SD-Card - in which sequence? (4ext)

Hi there,
I recently put mildwild CM7 on my HTC Desire (had a thread for this).
It didn't help getting rid of big boot problems (sudden reboots, bootloops....mostly after a reboot/bootloop, the device is stuck at HTC Logo).
I assume hardware malfunction, but would like to try a full wipe and another SD-Card.
Therefor I need help. Using 4ext, I read in this thread that I need to:
wipe data / factory reset
wipe cache partition
advanced > wipe dalvik cache
advanced > wipe battery stats
Also, I want to use a new SD-Card (8GB). I have no clue how to do that and of course not, in what sequence.
At last, I have a more theoretical/abstract question on a different toppic:
when I succesfully installed the mildwild CM7 Custom ROM, can I delete the two zip-Folder (part1 and part 2) of the ROM on my SD-Card or do I have to keep them there?
No doubt, I'm a noob
thx in advance!
Yea, you can delete the rom zip after you installed it.
sounds like maybe a problem with ext partition rather than hardware......Use GParted on pc to create your fat32 and ext partition on new card, then stick the rom on ur new card, new card into desire, full wipe desire, install rom, delete zip files of rom if you wish
