[Q] Notification plays 2 Ringtones - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus and after changing my text notification in the SMS settings it plays the notification I changed it to, and then play another notification sound directly after. Even if I change my default notification in settings, or the SMS notification to silent, it still plays this other notification sound. Help?

MikFroyo v4.6 Notification sound error?

I can't seem to get a notification sound for incoming text, only vibrates. I've tried setting ringtone after ringtone for notification sounds with no success, can anyone help?
I have changed the message notification settings (Handcent and Messages) numerous times without any luck. I use Handcent as the default.
Have you checked your profile setting? Like if you'r eon silent, it won't ring. Or if you're using another app that'll override it.
Yes, I'm on "normal" in the sound profile settings. The phone rings fine, I get my sound alerts for email, voicemail etc and it is all correct. Notification sounds for incoming text is the only sound not working correctly, only vibrates on incoming text.
bump............

[Q] How to change Email Notification sound (Hotmail)

Like topic. How do I change the email (hotmail) notification sound? I can't seam to find it in the settings in the email app. Though I can easily change the sound in the Gmail map, and other apps.
And the sound in the Email app is not the same as the phones default notifications sound.
Seriously? no one? :/
Settings, Personalize, Sound (at bottom of screen), Notification sounds, Email
Volume is Settings, Sound, Volumes
Big thanks, would never have found it

Notification Sound for Play Store?

Does anyone know what the notification sound for the play store is?
Because I have a custom alert set for the Gmail app, its the "pure bell" ringtone. Anyways I have noticed that the pure bell alert sound will go off even when I don't get new emails, keep in mind I have it set to gmail only, my general alert ringtone is the default bird one.
My only guess is that the play stores alert is somehow set to this as well, as its the only other notification on the list when I check after getting a mystery notification from gmail.

[Q] Can't change Handcent & gmail notification sounds

It doesn't matter what I do. I've tried every single thing I've found on here. No matter what I set the notification sounds to in handcent & gmail, the notification sound that plays is the system default notification sound. Even if I set it to silent the default always plays. I want to be able to distinguish the difference of when I get a text & an email. Someone please help!!! I've been sitting here for over 3 hours trying to get this to work right. What can I do to fix this?

Notification sound in Calendar won't change

The stock Calendar app on my Acro S completely fails to change its notification sound. I don't know for sure whether it was like this on ICS but on stock (rooted & deodexed) .96 JB it's just not working. I go in to Settings, tap "General Settings" and then "Sound" under Notifications and Reminders. I use Sound Picker to choose a notification sound, tap "Done" and when it goes back to the General Settings screen it still shows "Default ringtone". This happens with the standard Sony tones or with tones that I have created (my tones are .mp3 files, in \system\media\audio\notfications\ and with permissions set to "-rw-r--r--", like the standard .ogg files already in there.
Anyone else seeing this, or have any ideas how I might fix it?
Hmm, well it turns out that changing the Calendar notification sound using Media Storage works fine, Sound Picker doesn't. Who knew?
Sound Picker worked just fine for Mail and Messaging. Oh well...
