I flashed AOKP milestone 5, I was coming from M4. I backed up SMS, pics, music and synced to Google for contacts in anticipation that when I wipe/reset I'd lose everything...
Flashed m5 and gapps after wiping and when I rebooted Android started to upgrade them it said something about apps and went configuring apps 1/138 and so on until it was done.
I was booted back into exactly what I had before same settings, apps, music. I went to about screen and I'm on M5 and 4.04
Did something go wrong ? Should I of had to get all my stuff back? Did I do a dirty flash somehow?
Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you didn't wipe it properly if it is working good no need to now but if you have problems then you should wipe and reflash.

Did you wipe all 3 areas? And how many times did you wipe?

I went into recovery and did wipe/data reset

Should I have done something else? Why did it install fine but I had everything still.
Like music pics contacts sms

Any extra input on this? Shall I reflash, I've been going for a few hours now and haven't noticed any problems but I want to be on the safe side

Check the Android revolution thread for the super wipe zip. Flash that then re flash m5.

You are good. It was rebuilding dalvik cache from you wipe before the installation.
So any reason that when I wiped, it well, didn't wipe? I only did data/factory reset in the recovery menu.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
You didn't wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
Factory/data wipe formats cache & data.
I wiped, cache, dalvik cache and data/factory reset then flashed AOKP M5 and Gapps again. When i got rebooted, its the same thing.. all my music is there, pics, sms, contacts, apps.
Why wont the phone let me wipe and install a rom fresh?
Is it because im already coming for aokp m4?
It is something to do with Clockwork mod?
Please help.
Try that super wipe lite zip mention earlier or go into the mounts section and format data, cache and system. Then wipe dalvik. Flash rom & gapps again.

i had this problem before when doing factory reset from cwm. i just use fastboot to flash stock 4.0.4 then use cwm to flash aokp.
1) wipe data/factory reset
2) wipe /system (if you don't wipe this partition it leaves settings and files from the previous rom that could prove problematic)
3) wipe dalvik
4) flash rom
5) flash gapps
if installing a kernel after wards
6) wipe dalvik (again)
7) flash kernel
The music and pics should matter unless your wiping the sd card in recovery the SMS should have been gone after a wipe though

Yeah the SMS is still there.. idk what to do its not like the phone doesn't work or anything but its weird that I can't wipe and start clean I'll prolly have to unroot/ lock the boot loader and start all over. If anyone else has any input, please share

so i thought id take it upon myself to download the latest aokp jb build 3 and flashed it over aokp m6 after i did a full wipe and it installed perfectly but i rebooted my phone to check something and when i did it bootlooped i panicked cause i couldn't restore a backup or get it running again i got REALLY LUCKY and for some reason i was able to get my backup to restore after countless times of trying so now I'm back on m6 i fear of going back to aokp jb until i know it's safe to go from aokp m6 to aokp jb i can't brick another phone has any had this problem or i was just unlucky or what

Try to wipe all data and reflash the rom,(including cache+dalvik cache) because every time you flash a rom with a different version of Android this procedure should be done to avoid problems like this
Wipe/Factory Reset
Wipe everything/factory reset and reflash rom and gapps. This will fix your issues. Good Luck!!
I wiped everything the first time im sorta scared to go through it again to see if it will work cause when i flashed it ran perfectly but i noticed when i was trying to change my softkey icons rom control kept force closing for some reason so that's when i rebooted and then i got the boot loop

dont complain about issues if you dirty flash roms.
if you have problems with a dirty flash, wipe and then reflash.

I'm confused you flashed over M6 and didn't dirty flash? AOKP always recommends a full wipe. I flashed Build 3 last night, clean without a single issue. As for bricking, it's a Nexus. Kinda hard.

AOKP Jelly Bean ROM Build 2 - Rom will not work on my device. I have it updated to the newest version, when I try to put on the AOKP Jelly Bean ROM Build 2 it just keeps repeating the AOKP Boot screen. Why? I've re downloaded several times.
Did you try fixing permissions using darkside cache wipe?

Did you wipe the system and delvik cache? Also trying to restore a backup will cause boot loop.
I would say boot into recovery. Make sure you are using the latest cwrm or trwp (personal favorite) wipe system factory rest, cache, dalvik cache. Then install the latest build of aokp. If you are still having issues, we can go from there.
Pm me if you need some help. I have flashed about 30 different versions of aokp in the last few weeks

Hey there guys, new to Samsung devices (solid LG user here). Wifey got this phone and I'm trying to flash JB (it's in ICS coming from GB). As the title says, whatever custom JB rom out there for this phone won't work! I don't know, maybe I just missed something or what, but I followed, read every instructions there is (I don't have any problems flashing any roms on my LG's...)
Why can't I flash any JB roms? While I can flash any custom ICS roms on this phone..anything I missed? Need to be enlightened. Thank you in advance. Btw, I like to try Chameleon OS
You'll prolly have to give more info like the steps your taking to flash them. What recovery are you using if any.

Oh sorry. Forgot to mention those. As of lately, I wanted to try Chameleon OS. the steps I did:
* factory reset
* full wipe (format /system & /cache)
* flash latest Chameleon OS nightly
* wipe davlik
* reboot, waited for 15 mins
I did this on all JB roms I tried...but none of them works. Btw, I'm on TWRP 2.5
Thanks for the reply.

You're missing gapps after flashing ROM
If a ROM is aosp based you need gapps...there's a link for the latest 4.2.2 gapps in the chameleon thread or you can search for it on goo.im
Once you Dow load gapps and ROM do the following
Reboot into twrp recovery
Click on wipe
Click advance wipe
Check the first 4 (dalvik, data, system, cache)
Swipe to wipe
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
You can wipe dalvik/cache again after (I don't since the caches haven't been built yet for the newly flashed ROM)
Reboot
Wait 10 mins after seeing the welcome screen (don't touch anything)
Reboot device again and setup :beer:
EDIT: my fault..not flashing the gapps won't make you hang on boot but still try my method to flash and let me know if it worked.

No it was caused by not wiping properly on twrp. You need to make sure all 4 partitions are being wiped that's why my steps said click advance wipe and check the first 4.

I had just installed this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139055
After I installed the kernel I rebooted and then I get this black screen and it has been stuck for about 15+ minutes now. Whats funny is when I touch the screen the menu buttons illuminate, and I can hear the touch sounds, of my phone.
-Thanks for any help
Most likely have a ROM that is incompatible with that kernel. I flashed this to with milestone 1 of AOKP. Had to redo everything. Factory wipe and restore your last nandroid.

What is you're ROMs release date and kernel version? Locate and download the BMS release with similar details.
