Hey all, I have the T-MO and I am having a hard time getting connected to the network. I would like to post my status to see if this is a carrier problem or my phone problem.
Network: T-Mo
Signal strenght -87 dBm 13asu
Mobile Network type. keeps changing from UMTS to HSPA
Service: In Service
Mobile Network state: keeps changing from Connecting and disconnected.
I have rebooted the phone a few times, I am running
Android ver 2.3.6
Kernel 2.6.35.14-SGH-T989
Mod Version Juggernaut -v5.0
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
Ciao~
Brad
My phone is doing the same too. I don't think its a phone issue since my bro has a unrooted Mytouch 4g and he does not have internet on his phone either.
I am in San Diego. Where are you located at?
Same here, in San Diego.
My internet just came back up, Tmo must had a small outage.
Mine happens all the time....internet hangs n I have to turn off data n turn back OK...that helps but it is annoying

Well that was the first thing I tried, turning data on and off, Airplane mode, Even a reboot. No Dice this time.
Things looks like its back to normal for me. I don't know about the others tho. They never said anything yet.

Hi guys, just flashed a new rom (jm7).. everything went ok.. but when I rebooted I notice that I get just about no signal in areas where I used to before get full bars.
Tried going back to other rom's but no luck, I still continuously get a poor signal. One thing I did notice is that right after boot the signal slowly goes to 5 bars (even in areas with bad signal) and then slowly goes down to 0-1. This same instance happens when I place a phone call as well.
Any ideas? I can barely use data when this is going on as well.
Try going into mobile networks and network operators and see if there's a second option for your network. You might be connected to a weather signal. It's under wireless settings. Happened to me.

Are you sure that your network operator make some not some work on cell bt in your area? One time i have too like you bad and wrong signal, and make all with my galaxy, reboot, recovery, signal refresh app, APN point new entered, but still problem. After all, I call my operater and they say me:" Sorry , we make same work on cell base station in area your city !!! Sorry for bad signal, we busy to make repair speedy !!! "
Best regards
Sorry double post
Thanks for the responses... no go sadly.. tried switching the 3 different "bell" networks and only 1 allowed me to connect. As for signal str in area, a friend who has the same network has 4 full, while i only get 1
I've tried reformatting/reflashing/reseting and nothing has worked.. what am i missing?

Just curious if this happened to anyone or is it just me: most of the time I'm connected to wifi to save battery (home, school, etc) and when I'm out of range it should automatically connect me to the 3g network but it's not. I check settings and 3g is still enabled. Anyone know why?

I am also experiencing this. This happens to me when I am connected to WiFi with bad or no signal but then when I turn off WiFi and go to a good signal area it still registers no signal until I restart my phone then all is fine. Definitely a major bug.
ive had 2 of these phones, ive never had an issue with this. eh. maybe im lucky
Any solution to this?
Ever since I purchased this phone, I hardly get 3g signal. Will a hard reset fix this problem? I have to go by 4g or wi-fi on this phone for data.

having wifi on will actually kill your battery more because you have another radio running, thats why they give you the option to turn it off. (to save battery)
hmm thats odd though mine turns back on just fine
try a hard reset.
its deff a software issue

Wrong, having wifi on saves power because than your phone doesn't have to ping and search for cell towers

+1. Wifi Is definitelya battery saver. I leave wifi on all night at home. I get great battery life. I also never have the problem with 3g either. It always comes back even if I lose wifi signal.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
I noticed this in mine, so I went to Settings->Wireless and Network-> Mobile Network Data and then unchecked 3G and re-checked it and it hasn't had the problem since. Try it and report back.
a lot of users are having this issue along with low speed results on 3g, I read on another forum that Samsung/Sprint are working on it but I'd take that with a grain of salt. I fixed the radio wake up issue on my phone by doing factory reset and then going through the hands free activation again. Haven't had it since.
i'm having this issue too. Turning off wifi, or every time I go in an elevator and loose my 3g signal.
The strange thing though is I had this same problem with my OG Epic for the last two weeks I had it. I flashed back to the current Sprint rom and still had the problem. It was actually the reason I bought the Epic Touch on day 1.
I too am having 3G connection problems
My work is located a mile North of the 101 and Scottsdale and I can't get signal in my building, even if I walk to the big windows.
Of course Phoenix has no 4g so Im S.O.L.
I flashed 2.3.4 onto my 2.3.3 R800i and now I can no longer get 3g to work for anything other than messaging and phone calls. I've tried everything i could think of in the settings, any clue how I could fix this?
Did you put your apn settings in?

I had a problem with 3G long time ago after being abroad and using Airplane mode and/or data settings. Could not reactivate 3G for some reason and rebooting did not help but I had some on/off widget thing installed at the time and tried one of the 3G or data switches on it and it started working. Hope it helps

I spoke to a rogers agent to get the apn, thanks, wouldn't of know to do it otherwise
Right on man glad you got it worked out I went thru the same stuff when I first got my x10 it was a little frustrating but lesson learned

mine has a glitch where it switches the network it's assigned to by itself. Rogers shows up as two networks, one edge and one 3g/hspa, and I noticed if my reception is bad at a certain location it will sometimes switch to edge only, and not turn back. It's only been doing this after the update to 2.3.4
Edit/update: I figured out you can force the phone to never use edge, if you change it from wcdma preferred/gsm to only wcdma

I was showing off the GN at work tonight and all of the sudden I got a no data connection error. My signal bars turned grey and have been grey ever since.
I've seen the bars show 4g but they remain grey and I get no data whatsoever.
I have searched the forums and the only reason I have found that seems to hold up is a problem with the sim card.
I've turned on and off airplane mode switched to CDMA only (3G), powered on and off many times. I pulled the battery and held down power button for a while... nothing helps.
Anyone have any other ideas besides the sim card?
I can make calls with it... that is all.
Thanks
I still get on via wifi. But am currently experiencing the same problem. Grayed out signal bars ans no mobile data. Have tried turning mobile data on and off, airplane mode on and off, removing sim card and replacing it.... ugh.. Verizon problem I'm guessing.

Ok.. It's pretty much a nationwide outage of 3g and 4g on Verizon

Yeah. Just read the thread about it and talked to vzw operator... let's hope this doesn't happen often

The most "reliable network" thats why we pay the big $$$
I have noticed that there are people starting to notice that that have LTE in their frequenting areas, but it's messing with their data once they leave these areas.
For me it was having issues kicking back to edge and even 4G signals would not pull any data, would simply say that I had no connection. Didn't matter whether rooted or not or which rom I was using.
Anyway,
I have discovered somewhat a fix for this issue.
Under Connections tab in Settings, click more networks, then mobile networks, then Access Point Names my Access Point Name was epc.tmobile.com.
I noticed in other forums their APN should be fast.t-mobile.com so I thought I'd give it a try and incredibly my results were pretty good. It goes in and out of LTE areas pretty smoothly in comparison to losing data altogether.
Give it a try and report back.
Thanks
I was experiencing drop of data connection for long period of time (at least 5-10 mins) every time I leave the house, losing my wifi connection. More than once it just won't connect at all for a good couple of hours. I just did a test today, messing with the APN, network operator settings and get it to connect to 4gLTE. Once and turn on and then off the wifi, I lose the data again. And it wasn't gonna come back.
The fast.t-mobile.com address seems to do the trick and I'm now immediately on 4gLTE after losing wifi. and the speed is AMAZING at 24,000kbps download and over 10,000kbps upload.
Thanks!!!
I already had that APN setting but I wasn't getting ant 4G LTE :/ must not be in my area yet. I'm in north Georgia

With thr default (epc..) APN, I had LTE before in NYC, DC, Boston. It just happened that the connection drop was getting more and more noticeable so I had to do something about it.

I haven't changed anything, but mine is already showing fast.T-Mobile.com, and that's the only option there.

great find, I must have switched between 5-7 different roms trying to figure out why I'd lose data for up to 20min. after coming off wifi. Once I got reconnected to 4g I was afraid to even turn my wifi back on.
This seems to me to have just started recently, I'll have 4G but I might use the elevator at work and lose my connection, upon being back in service I'll be stuck on Edge for about 10-20 minutes before it picks up the 4G connection again.
I've been switching to Airplane Mode then back and that seemed to help but it doesn't any longer.
My APN is already fast.t-mobile.com, is there any other solution to fixing this?
EDIT: If I reboot my phone it connects to 4G immediately, and I'm using a Rooted Stock MDL Build w/ the Faux kernel.
Thank you!

I have noticed before as well that roms default fast.t-mobile.com, but other times it would not. I could still get LTE with the epc..... but it wouldn't hold it.

Unfortunately I do not know of any other things that might help with LTE connection. I just stumbled on this and thought I'd share what worked for me.
Can anyone with fast.tmo take screenshots of their settings for that apn. My Rom doesn't have that and I would like to manually add it in. Thanks!

I'm looking is there a way to flash the MDB baseband?
