[REQUEST] sense 4.0 camera app - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I've seen the camera app on the htc One X and I really love it.
I like it because it's full screen and you can use burst mode (to take a lot of pictures in a short time).
Is it possible to get (something) like this working on our galaxy Nexus?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRFQno5Rls8

I don't think it'll be possible. Even though it's just an app, it would still require HTC's hardware. And Samsung's camera hardware is really nowhere near HTCs imo.

^ Agreed. Won't happen unfortunately.

needs sense framework for it to work... hopefully when the sense 4 rom gets stable youll be able to get it

now that is one bad ass camera

[COMP]Google N1 vs HTC Desire

So, what do you think about this battle?) Who'll win?
The only things that I don't like in N1 are: display with strange colour rendition, camera which is pink maniak (hey, like pink panther) and silent ring.
Will these thing be removed in HTC Desire?
Or maybe it's better to wait for Samsung Wave (super AMOLED display, but strange OS)
Honestly the Desire imo, fm radio, wm playback and ram/rom are just a few of the things that make it ahead of the N1 for me.
For me, the N1 is clearly the better Phone with the Noice Cancellation and way faster Software/Firmware-Support from Google.
I will never again use a Phone with Sense because of the lazy HTC-Support.
I believe the Community-Support will be much better for the N1, just look whats done so far. It was a nice Idea from Google to gave the N1 to many Android-Software-Developres for free.
And my personal Opinion: I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw a picture from the Desire at MWC. It looks much cheaper in real life than on the leaked Promo-Shots from last year. For me, the N1 looks better.
Currently have a N1, but "broke" it (still working, apart from few sensors),
with the insurance money, I will buy a Desire, since it will be available here.
No contenst unless theyll start also selling N1 straight to Finland.
HW buttons are better, going to miss notification led thou. And will cry if fastboot unlock is disabled.
i prefer Desire,because i don't like N1's track-ball....
Desire ROM on Nexus hardware
Get the best of both the worlds
It's not a case of which one is better, the desire will sell more purely because it's avaliable in store and it's avaliable on all 5 UK Networks.
People can walk into a store not knowing who HTC are and walk out with a Desire, for the Nexus you have to be specifically wanting the Nexus and then go online and pay a lot of money to get one shipped over.
Same screen as nexus?
Wonder if it will have the same screen as nexus ... if so that will suck.

Is it common for people to remove the sense UI from android phones and run a more stock style android interface? Is this easily done with a phone like the Desire in the near future? Im on WinMo now with my Raph/Fuze and just tired of dealing with the HTC interface, hate windows too. Been using the android port for the last few months and love it. Im just stuck trying to decide between getting a nexus or the Desire whenever it will be available in the states. Plus i dont want the Sense UI, thats my main concern with the Desire.

What are your reasons for not wanting Sense UI?
I'm thinking the desire may be better quality build (minus the dust prob and hardware buttons which some may view as a plus or minus, I having lived with capacitive buttons for a year, despise them). Although I would much prefer the option to have either sense or the standard android, and as I'm not familiar with android and their homescreens, is this possible on a stock desire rom?
From what I can tell, sense is mostly just a theme along with widgets, so change the theme and then don't use the widgets right?
It's 99% Likely you'll be able to flash stock 2.1 android... A Nexus one rom, providing you root

Technically you should just be able to install Launcher2.apk and switch between Sense home and Stock Android Home. Although you'd still have all the Sense apps ie contacts etc but you'd be able to replace these too.

Well i have not actually used Sense, just some of the Roms on my Fuze that try to mimic it. It might just be the Windows Mobile underlying that makes me hate the HTC skin, im just annoyed with it all. Using the stock android on my phone, even with the odd glitches here and there due to the early port, leaves me feeling much more free and happier with my phone.
I'm thinking nexus, purely as I don't want to root my device (hehehe root my device.....)
Although I do prefer the optical trackpad and the hardware buttons.......grrr hard decisions...
For me, it will come down to which one I can get AT&T 3G on. The phones are almost identical, and I will surely root/flash it, so the stock ROM won't matter. I do think the Nexus looks better, and will probably get better support from Google.
Motoroi is looking better than both at the moment though......except of course looks lol. But with hdmi out, 720p recording and 8mp camera with xenon flash.....v.nice! Wonder if they seriously think a 550mhz chip will suffice though?
htc Desire^^ because I dont like the trackball, and I LOVE the Sense UI

Camera apps? Sense 3.0 camera?

Hey all, I've got the new OTA running and I was thinking about my camera quality again. I asked this a while back, but are there any camera apps that improve the quality of a photo? Or is it possible to get the 3.0 camera working on my phone? I've noticed the quality of my mom's thunderbolt's camera to be much better than the dinc, is the hardware actually better, or is it software that is doing the magic?

There are apps in the market that will supposedly make your pictures look better, but they really just reset filters like brightness. I believe the Thunderbolt may just have better hardware because it's newer. I don't think you can get the 3.0 camera on the OTA either because the 3.0 camera relies upon the newer Sense framework. HTC moved around a lot of stuff between 1.0 and 3.0.

Camera.

Ok. I love MIUI. However, I always come back to sense. The #1 reason is the camera just seems to work better on sense roms.
No app on the Android market seems to measure up in terms of camera software.
Anybody having better luck than I am?

Nope, I don't think MIUI even offers front camera. Sense all the way in my opinion.
Im using MIUI and it works great for me,i dont take many pictures either. They make cameras for that.
MIUI does have front camera. You just have to lower the quality.
I use my phone to take pictures at sporting events with surprisingly good quality.
But only from sense roms

[Q] HTC One ASOP

http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/30/4379796/htc-one-google-edition-announced-stock-android
with the HTC One getting AOSP, could this mean can get a port across with camera etc? Or are the devices too dissimilar?
Also would anyone want AOSP out of the box?
The sense camera won't be implemented in the google edition obviously.......
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
If HTC willing to open sources the camera driver for Google, it is possible for the One aosp camera to make use the benefit of the imagechip2. However, you still can't get the Zoe to work except Google implements it into One aosp camera with HTC permission.
I think the possibility of the above to happen will very low.... lol... yes, it is not that very make sense to get a senseless HTC One. Only S4 needs to sell Nexus ver this time, not HTC One.
But I guess the software focus on Qualcomm S4 600 should be improved, it might be okay for the HTC One aosp camera for normal use. I don't know, I don't have a HTC One.
yea certain rumours have confirmed that it WONT come with Zoe

It will still difficult to implement if HTC gives out permission because sense camera will need to access the framework from sense rom. There is no sense framework in aosp therefore Zoe won't work in the camera.apk even though HTC releases the imagechip2 driver for Google. Google will need to make his own aosp ver of Zoe start from scratch, so the possibility is almost zero at the moment.
However, I beat Samsung, Sony, LG will implement similar function in the next generation flagship. At that time, when this feature become one of smartphone standard, Google will make it in Nexus.
HTC One and HTC One V aren't anywhere close in hardware similarities (that I know of) so I doubt the camera in 4.2 could become of a working state with it.

[Q] cyanogen mod on S4. Camera photo quality downgraded?

Well I'm gonna get straight to the point. Cyanogenmod has downgraded the camera on my Galaxy S4. Photos are significantly noisier and overall lacking in the photo department. I went to Best buy to compare a stock S4 to my CyanogenMod S4 and right there and then my worries were confirmed. Is there any way to keep cyanogen mod and get back the awesome camera quality of the stock S4? The camera downgrade is really getting on my last nerve.
It was the CyanogenMod installed through the play store BTW..
You got a few options
1) ditch CM all together, and use a GPE rom. This is AOSP built by samsung and google. It does not have any of the issues CM has.
now.. some "RDs" on this site insist that the GPE edition roms are TW based, simply because they use the same kernels - this is not true. An adroid 4.3 kernel will work on a 4.3 rom, be it touchwiz, or aosp, and same with Android 4.4
I personally run VirginROM 2.5.4 with a custom kernel that is not allowed on XDA, and my stability is 100%, battery life lasts about 2 or so day with moderate use, and audio/video (what there kernels are known for) rock. These kernels do not overclock, but excel over others that do overclock when it comes to performance.
2) compile the focal camera app yourself and deal with all the CM issues, flaws, and "hybrid" merges...
3) purchased/download a 3rd party app from the google play store

First off, no kidding. This did not need a new thread to be discussed. There are literally a thousand posts abotu camera quality with CM ROMS on the various S4 variant forums. Any search at all would have shown you the answer. Here's an example with posts from less than a week ago that explains this throughly.
Second, if this gets on your last nerve, get rid of CM and return to stock. This is the price of using CM. The camera isn't as good. Complaining about it and acting like CM owes you a better camera is downright rude to the CM team who gives you their ROM for free out of a desire to give a gift to the world. They don't owe you a thing.
The short version to your question abotu getting the CM camera back is simply no.
The long version is...
The issue with the camera in AOSP ROMS is that the stock TouchWiz camera has all kinds of proprietary software driving it. That software is built into different parts of the rom and absolutely requires the TouchWiz framework to run. (Which is also proprietary). You can't just pull the APK out of TouchWiz and install it on AOSP.
So there is no way to get the stock TW camera to run on any AOSP rom.
This means that any other app that is using the camera is using generic software to run the camera hardware. This leaves out the ability to do things that the TW software was specifically written to do like crisp auto focus and color depth and all those goodies that make the TW camera better. All that software was written specificly for the S4 hardware.
The Cyanogen camera or the Google stock camera is just an app using generic software not written specificly for this phone's camera hardware. That's no different than ANY other camera you can find on Google Play. They are ALL using generic software.
As a result, none of them are every going to be as crisp as the TouchWiz camera software. They almost all still take a really good picture with this phone, and many give various effects you might enjoy, but if you are looking the actual stock camera app that takes a higher resolution, better focused picture than the CM camera, you're not going to be able to do it.
Even with all that, the S4 camera hardware with CM camera software It's still better than most other phones on the market.
At the end of the day, it's not a camera that makes phone calls. It's a phone that has a camera in it. If photography is that big of a deal to you, you're never going to be happy with anything other than a true SLR. There's nothing wrong with that, mind you. But please stop complaining about the quality of the free ROM that har dworking developers put together in their spare time and gave to you as a gift with no questions or strings atatched.
Well Said !!
I appreciate the way you explained. :good:
