If I'm in my messages making a text message. After I'm finished and I hit the back soft key or the home key the keyboard won't go away for a sec. Is it just me or does everyone have this lag

I assume you mean when you press the home button to escape out of the messaging app? Pressing the back key should just close the keyboard. But yeah that's normal, at least for me.

Ya I know what ur saying if u use the back key from the text message it gets rid of the keyboard, but I would like to get right out of the text messages by hitting the home button. Just thought it was weird that the keyboard lags around for a couple secs.

Thinking of purchasing the nexus but wondering if the home button ever interferes with texting. Anybody who has a nexus if you could post your thoughts on if you accidentally hit the home button while texting?

no. Id worry more about how laggy the landscape keyboard is sometimes.

You can hit it by accident but you type every day on a keyboard and you manage to hit most of the correct letters so no reason you would be that inaccurate with the space key.....
I'm a heavy texter and I've never accidently hit the home button
I've never accidentally hit it either

Hello, I've got my nexus running xenon-hd and I've used the Rom settings to restore the traditional button arrangement I had on my captivate as you can see in the screen shot. My question is, with a menu button and search button now, is there a way to get rid of the three doors that appear on gapps like here in the messaging?
On jelly bean on my galaxy s 1, they weren't there because the phone has physical buttons. Not really a big deal, just curious. Thanks

I don't think it uploaded the picture correctly, trying again.
Nope, no dice, will try from my computer later, but for reference I mean this http://img.tapatalk.com/5224c050-7b59-f27b.jpg
Of course this isn't my phone, I have "menu, home, back, search" as the soft keys. But the three dots beside the attach icon are what I'm asking about removing

Dont know what else to call it really but I know this is happening with all of our devices.. which is when the screen times out and u press home to wake it up it takes u back to default homescreen. The sgs3 doesnt react that way and ive had to get used to hitting the power button instead. Any ideas? This would be amazing and greatfully appreciated.

I can't replicate this issue. I let my screen timeout and pressed the home button and it simply turned the screen back on to where I left it.

I've had it happen. You press he home button immediately after the screen goes black, and it wakes the screen up, but also takes out of what ever you are in and takes you to the home page. I've retrained myself not to go for the home button, but the power button.

I've seen this behavior too. It's quite annoying.

Stock rooted. I tried it multiple times and the same thing happens, screen times out, I instantly press the home button and it turns the screen back on but keeps me on the web page, app, etc that I'm using.

This is really an issue, "immediately" hitting the home button when it goes to sleep? Why not just avoid letting it go to sleep or hit the power button? This seems like a non issue to me and I've never had it happen.
but my post does not help the OP so good luck with that, sorry for the editorial.
The point is my sgs2 gti9100, and sgs3 tmobile which both had physical buttons didnt react this way.. I find it to be strange.

Are you using stock LEAK ?
I think this is a Jellybean 4.1 issue. My Note 2 has the same problem, but my wife's Galaxy S3 didn't when she was on ICS. Last week the phone updated to JB and now the problem exists.
This is definitely related to Jelly bean but I'm not sure if it is strictly a Touchwiz Jelly bean issue. It happens when I removed S Voice from the home button double press. It happens on the S3 and when my Note II comes in I bet it will happen on there too.
There are a lot of people that noticed it and I even saw someone open an issue with Google, although I'm not sure it is entirely a Google issue.

The last line is the issue maybe.
"I want the single tap to be more snappy - for that I must disable s voice, but when I do it this bug raises its head. "
Do you guys have s voice disabled on the home button to save that lag time?
I disabled the s voice on the home button but still have the lag.

A small semicircular tab sometimes appears on the left side of the screen. Pulling it out shows an icon bar and an edit button. Then it again dissapears. So far have not identified what I do to make it appear or disappear. Anyone knows how or where to find settings for it or how to lock it on and off?

Press and hold back button.
Sent from my Note II using smoke signals.
Please search before posting next time. This has been asked almost everyday.
It is the multiwindow feature. Holding BACK button will activate/deactivate it.
Don't mean to sound rude, it just gets frustrating seeing the same questions pop up over and over and over again.

I have been looking for the smilies key on the Samsung keyboard. Did they actually leave that out (Koreans never smile) or am I just missing it?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I don't know but I would sure like to know where keyboard files are and how to mod them. I personally use Swype and would like to have the "enter" key back on certain apps instead of that smiley button. I guess opposite as you but same files to change, I'm sure.
also, the Samsung keyboard has a long-press button that brings up the clipboard. anyone know how to add that button to other keyboards???
thanks.

The Samsung keyboard is an odd bird. Like so much Samsung software it just feels like they got about 80% done, hit a deadline and just quit development.
Yes S-Notes i am looking at you.

If youre in text messages, hit the menu button and you can enter smileys. I agree about the keyboard lol
