The tool kit is for windows only I believe. So u own a GSM version right? If so follow the steps from my video on YouTube. The video was made for my old nexus s 4g but the steps are the same.

Okay, you have Android SDK, ADB, and Fastboot? You are locked and rooted, yet still on a custom rom?
You need to unlock the bootloader by entering fastboot and then performing:
fastboot oem unlock
Then you will need to flash Google's custom images found here. You will have to place the contents of the compressed file in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot commands. Then you can perform
sh flash-all.sh (or you can flash one by one, whatever you want)
Then you can perform
fastboot oem lock
yeeeeees , i got the sulution and it works

Not sure what the issue could be if your device has always been stock.
The only thing I can suggest is re-flash the stock images (see here). That way you will know for sure that everything is OK, and the update will install automatically.

so here are the steps I came up with after I went through the thread you has posted..
D. Type in the commands into the command prompt
1) Make sure your computer recognizes your device by typing: fastboot devices
2) Unlock your bootloader (if you have not already done so): fastboot oem unlock
3) You will see a prompt on your device. This will wipe your entire device (including the /sdcard folder). Accept.
4) Reboot by typing: fastboot reboot-bootloader.
5) Flash the recovery partition: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
6) Reboot: fastboot reboot
does this sound right?

Is your bootloader locked or unlocked?
If it is unlocked, you can skip your step 2.
If it is locked, then it will wipe everything anyway, so might as well flash the other images just to be 100% sure you are stock.
Make sure that all the images are from the mysid ICL53F factory file.

My boot loader is locked and am already 100% stock...somehow the stock recovery is corrupted ..and I have never rooted this phone..never did any mods...
this is why I want to just try and reinstall the stock recovery alone...if that does not fix my issue then I will install everything...I will keep you posted...thank you.

You gotta install adb driver for Nexus. For my computer, when I enabled usb debugging, it downloaded the driver for me (odd enough) but if your computer doesn't do that, you can Google around to get the exe file for you to install. Just make sure the Nexus has usb debugging on, or it doesn't let you install the driver (from my experience)

It doesn't matter what you're currently on. You will completely nuke your phone when you fastboot the images onto your device anyway.
ok my computer currently recognizes my phone now and i know how to re lock my bootloader what rom should i put it on so they dont know i was rooted before relocking the bootloader. I thought locking it would set it back to default but i was wrong i just had cm9 with a locked bootloader lol i think they would know from that but seriously. What rom should i put to just make my phone 100000% stock

The stock ROM, there's a full factory restore through Odin. Its in one of the stickies.
You can do everything using gnex toolkit v7.0.

So you got everything stock except the ROM? So you got stock recovery and everything? If you do, first of all, download the stock rom from google site (there should be few versions, that, you gotta find it out) then you need to download clockwork mod recovery (assuming that you got fastboot and adb) now just boot into cwm on your phone and flash the stock rom. By doing this, you're not over writing the recovery but you can still use the cwm
Also you gotta unlock first lol

It seems several users across the web are reporting that the 4.2 Jelly Bean update over the air (OTA) to their Stock Galaxy Nexus devices is failing after reboot, with a collapsed Android showing a red triangle. I am also affected, and have never seen this many reports before.
Some examples:
http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/forum/galaxy-nexus-help/8116-system-update-fails-why.html
https://www.google.com/webhp?source...b024c3c&bpcl=38625945&biw=1278&bih=1016&ion=1
I am stock GSM Galaxy Nexus.
I am not rooted.
My bootloader is unlocked.
I have tried five times by clearing data in Google Services Framework and applying the update, which downloads OTA and verifies correctly. There is no logical reason an unrooted, untampered with factory stock GN should fail in this way, so I suspect something is wrong at Google's end.
Any ideas from anyone smart and constructive?

That is helpful however my last update to 4.1.2 was also done OTA so I cannot think why I don't have the required radio.
Either way, what is the simplest way to resolve this, without rooting?

help , i too am on takju 4.12 stock w baseband xxlf1 and i returned to stock unrooted 4.12 using wugfresh's toolkit and return stock recovery as well .
ive done this 3 or 4 times over the last weekend and now again am downloading the OTA for another try,
I always get the red triangle after a few seconds . Is there a way to get the OTA upgrade to proceed when the red trianlge appears ?
i tried other method to uograde to 4.2 using techfanatics mac instructions but after upgrade the reboot hangs at the multi colored X and will not proceed to boot.
I tried factory reset of CWM but my Nexus gsm still hangs at the multicolored X,, so i went back to Wugfresh's Nexus Root toolkit 1.55 to save me by unroot flash stock back to 4.12 takju. (4 times already)
Any help suggestions would be appreciated, am pulling the 4.2 OTA again and will try again,
If I just stay at 4.12 the system uodate remnder bugs me every hour.

My Verizon nexus is stuck in boot loop. My volume up button does not work so i cant get into fast boot. Is there any other way that i can get into recovery to nandroid? Or any odin methods i can use to get it back without erasing internal storage preferably? If there is no way possible then i assume i will have to flash stock images.

why would you suggest an unsupported tool to reflash/update a fw, of a Nexus? just because it's made by samsung, doesnt mean that samsung supports it, and the flashing through odin.
OP, use FASTBOOT, it's the tool Google INSTRUCTS you to use to recover a Nexus device to factory status.

Weel, in order to reach the recovery is quite simple. If i'm not wrong, you just have to install correctly adb driver in your pc and, once installed the driver and plugged in the device, you just have to open cmd or terminal or whatelse depending on your os and write "adb reboot bootloader" without "
Or even easier (but you need root), install rom toolbox (both free or pay, your choice) and inside there's an option to choose where to reboot, bootloader, recovery or simple reboot.
EDIT: @wisefreakz: fastboot it's necessary only for fastboot command, for adb command the device could be running (ie when you get a bootloop you're not in fastboot but, instead of pulling off the battery it's better to prompt a good adb reboot), isn't it?
Thanks much. I used the link provided. Since I'm back on cna I can boot from the power menus. Appreciate your time

but what if i have issues with fastboot ? i get kicked out of fastboot USB all the time... drivers aren't working for me .. im on w8 64 bit ( Licensed ! )
so i cant use fastboot commands ... :/
could have mentioned that...
anyway there are loads of threads explaining how to get fastboot and adb working on windows 8, or you can also dual boot linux or run a vm
but if you dont like all that you can still do it i think, within hboot and also using a terminal emulator just follow the same stuff.
just need to downgrade radio (just guessing what radio you have as you never posted it) by putting the radio.img in a pc10img.zip and flashing via hboot or possibly just use one of the stock roms he has there may be easiest
then follow the adb commands form nipqers thread only in a terminal emulator
