HTC Sensation Custom ROM Failure - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hey guys I had a quick question for you all. Today I decided to root my HTC Sensation. I followed the instructions I found to gain S-OFF, install Clockwork Recovery and Gain Root to my phone.
I successfully got all of that done and I also downloaded and installed InsertCoin v5.1.5.
Now, as for my problem. When I boot my phone it gets to the Beats Audio screen and then freezes and my phone restarts. I have also tried to install a few other Custom Roms and they seem to do the same thing.
Any suggestions??

As far as I can see you can try to do a superwipe and try again. Make sure you also have the right radio installed. Maybe that helps.. Did you try to install the ARHD rom also? There is a great tutorial on how to install those rom's. Maybe it's possible to start off from there and then try something else?

Try to install a new firmware using recovery

[Q] Help! I think I bricked my brand new Desire!

First of all I have an unlocked Telus Desire. This is running HBOOT.83 and was rooted using Unrevoked.
The first rom I tried to install was LeeDroid 1.8 and I got a boot loop and never was able to get it running.
After installing this rom I noticed the phone started freezing at the white screen where it said HTC. I was able to go into recovery and flash Pinky just fine. I then decided I wanted to try the cyanogen mod rom so I flashed that and it was really really buggy for me.
I was able to flash back to Pinky but then I started getting Force Quits everytime I opened the market. I went to reflash the rom and now my phone doesn't boot at all.
EDIT: Now when I boot into the Rom I get a few errors popping up and then it restarts. So I can get into Pinky but it crashes and boot loops.
maybe try installing fake flash, clear all your caches and batt stats, install a basic rom just to get it up and running before you install a custom rom of choice. I have found it isn't as easy to brick this phone as say my old omnia i900 which was windows based. It could be that installing roms without clearing all yr caches is causing the glitches. I'm not an expert and don't claim to be but I always have a clear out before installing a new rom and it works for me.

Thanks for the advice, I will look into Fake Flash as I am not very familiar with that process.
As an update I managed to get into Recovery, and of course I flashed a rom which gave me nothing but a boot loop. Thankfully I was able to mount the SDCard in recovery mode and I am loading on one of the more vanilla sense roms to see if that works.
A lot of custom roms require you to have an ext3 partition on your SD card. This can cause bootloops if you don't have the card partitioned.
I'd also try booting without the SD and see what results you get.
You will all be happy to know the phone is no longer bricked. Recovery mode seems to be working again and I didn't really do anything to do that.

[Q] Newbie question Clockwork recovery

I just recently used Unrevoked 3 and applied new radio and Skyraider 2.5 Sense rom. So far I love having my phone running this rom, but alas I am still a newbie. I need to apply an audio fix to address a bug with flash player, which I was instructed to do by downloading the fix thru Rom manager. When I open rom manger it does not see clockwork recovery and wants to install it. If I boot the phone into recovery I know it goes into Clockwork as a result of using Unrevoked. If its there why would Rom manager be telling me its not, and also I know flashing things on these phones twice and over top of one another is bad, so I'm not sure if I should. What I want to know is, would there be an harm in flashing clockwork recovery via rom manager if its was already put on by unrevoked? I have been super careful up to this point with installing anything and I don't want to ruin something now because I am misinformed. Thanks for any help you all can provide, I feel dwarfed by all the huge brains in these forums.
had the same problem, just install it through rom manager. Turned out it was an updated version.
Shouldn't have any problems
Cool, just didn't want to screw anything up. Thanx for the reply.
I think that unless you've used unrevoked forever, flashing CWM through ROM Manager won't actually do anything because nand is still locked.
edit: I mean it'll fix the problem you're having, but it won't actually flash a new recovery.

If thats the case than how are others flashing new roms thru ROM Manager, I doubt they all have s-off? I do not quite fully understand how it all works but if it has to be flashed each time with Unrevoked before each flash, wouldn't it have been mentioned somewhere? The person that helped me flash my phone, explained it to mean similarly with the nand being locked still, so it was not a true root, but with all my reading up on this I still don't know what that really means for this phone. Please forgive my ignorance on this, I'm trying to grasp it all.

[Q] What to do now, is it a decoration, or can it be saved?

Hi everyone!
I managed to root my DHD last night, used the tool to get S-OFF and ENG-OFF thing, well, everything that I could. I changed my radio, and installed a custom rom, everything went well. Then, I decided I'd want a new theme..... And then everything goes... yeah..
I installed Android Revolution and chose CommonSense as my new theme.
Well, I as I read that you need to use CWM Recovery and install the theme as a .zip from there, so I did. Put the .zip in my sd root and installed the theme from there. But it seems that was not the way to do it.
And as I read the instructions, that was definitely not the way to do it.
So, now my phone boots, HTC with big letters comes up, and then it changes to HTC Quietly Brilliant with a twitch. After being on Quietly Brilliant, it goes to black for 400 ms, and changes back to Quietly Brilliant and starts to loop that.
I tested that I can still do fastboot, and go to CWM Recovery from there..
But, I firstly decided to come up on here to ask what should I do now?
You can reflash the rom or find a working theme and install so that the boot loop will be gone.

its only a bootloop chillout there are 3 options, 1. find the version of that thme for your rom and flash it again. 2. flash your rom again. 3. push your framework-res.apk to/system/framework/ using adb
Yeah, I think it's being fixed right now.
I tried installing theme again.. THE RIGHT WAY and the RIGHT THEME. But, that didn't help, so now I'm flashing the rom again.
It's a great relief that it was just a "bootloop chillout"
Thanks for your help Lopio & AndroHero!

if your going to mod your device expect many bootloops best idea is before you flash anything, do a nandroid backup in recovery, it only takes a minute and if anything goes wrong you dont have to mess about flashing a new rom, you can just restore your old one
next time, backup before you flash from the CWM.
if u have a boot loop, you just need to re-flash the rom.

[Q] Problem on DHD

Hey guys.
Basically, I've sorted out a couple of my mates with custom ROMs etc, 2 friends and my own. Mine and one of mates was no problem, but the other one has gone wrong some how.
I'm a bit of a noob on the whole thing, but basically I installed the Honeysense ROM on the phone, which all went smoothly. My friend wanted to change again after this, and now theres a problem.
The phone will: Be Temp and Perm rooted with Visonary.
The phone won't:
- Boot into Clockwork mob, through the app or through the bootloader.
- Format the SD card
- Do a factory reset
Trying to go any of these boots to the HTC screen, and stays there. I've tried a new radio, re-installing Rom manager with no luck.
Bit stuck now. Like I said, the other 2 phones have worked perfectly, and my old one I changed from Honeysense with no problems either.
Cheers guys.
Hi, without knowing exactly what you/your friend did it would be hard to diagnose where the problem is.
You can try and start from the beginning again.
1). Download & Run 1.32 WWE RUU
2). Root with Visionary+
3). Apply ENG S-OFF & Radio S-OFF
4). Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
5). Flash Custom ROM
Ok cheers. Will try it of he wants me to, he's a stroppy twat who keeps blaming me for f'ing his phone now its on 'basic' software. He should have known any risks.

[Q] I stuffed up. What do I do?

Hi, first time posting here.
I have a bit of a unique problem or so I've heard. So I was an idiot and decided to flash a Virtuous ROM over the WiFi via ROM Manager on my Desire Z. Previous to this it was rooted and was running CM 7.1 RC1 and was all fine. When I flashed the Virtuous Sense Rom (Not unity, the one before it in ROM Manager), it flashed, what I thought was fine. However, when I actually got into the phone, it said everything was crashing and would go into a boot cycle. Then for some stupid reason I just reflashed the 1.3.4 or whatever ROM back onto (The one you're meant to downgrade to). At this moment in time, I can't do anything. When I'm in the bootloader of the phone itself, I can't scroll up or down to the recovery option, so I can't flash through that. I've tried re-rooting the phone (Or that process), hoping that it would work. At this point in time, it keeps popping up errors at /data/local/tmp/psneuter
Note: I was following the CM7 rooting guide thing.
Anyway, I hope someone'll be able to help me out of this stupid stupid thing that I've done.
THanks!
EDIT: Okay, well, going through the CM7 rooting guide a fourth time seems to have fixed it. It's all fine now. On another note, how do you change the Virtuous Unity lock screen to something else? I'm not really a fan of the Sense 3.0 lockscreen.
You should not need to re-root after flashing any custom ROMs.
Also, I would not do any more ROM flashing if clockworkmod is not properly installed, or you don't know how to use it.
Did you bother to wipe data and cache? You didn't mention it. If you didn't that's your problem
