Im coming from a bionic where in my bedroom in a certain spot it would get 4g coverage, strong. I also got 4g good coverage in a lot of different places. I was tired of that phone especially since the razr came out and made that bionic outdated. Didnt really wanna go for another moto so I got the galaxy nexus and I love it, better in so many ways to many to go into detail. but the 4g signal sucks. I dont get a good signal in any of the same places that I got with my bionic.
Your best bet is to sell the GN and get an iPhone.
I don't have an LTE version of the Nexus, but a lot of these threads pop up. My understanding is they aren't the best at all, some will argue they are fine, some will agree.
pretty sure thee iphone for verizon doesnt have a 4g signal, it is the iphone 4 or the iphone 4s lol but whatever. I love the GN so far hopefully I can figure something out. besides apple sucks ass android is ftw. never will i go back to the dirty apple.
I suggest trying out different radios. That might help. I can link the thread if you want.

I was being facetious.
The phone picks up the signal well enough, but has a habit of handing itself off too frequently, often down to 3G where it has a habit of staying. Good news is that's a fixable issue. Bad news, is that no one has issued or announced a fix.
Bionic and nexus report LTE signal strength differently.

true 4g sucks
... No problems here.
You suck...
Great when working
While I do agree that 4g LTE coverage is spotty, when you do have a good signal the speed is phenominal!
I measured a 30 Mbps down today, faster than my cable internet at home!
And oddly enough, I get better battery life when on LTE.
However if in low coverage and switching from 3g to 4g, yes battery does go quick.

First, let me say that I love this phone. However, I used to get perfect 4g signal in my home with the Photon, and now the signal is touch and go at best. Anyone have the same issue or know of a fix (besides moving)?
Found this post that seems to have some proven methods for samsung 4g (and 3g) signal and speed boosting!!
i can believe it. motorolas are usually the best when it comes to reception. I know on the EVO there was a way to make it more receptive to 4G signals and it worked great..but im not sure about samsungs though.
Read that as well. Photon signals were tops. Photon got signals where no other phone would even dream of trying to pick one up.
That said I am coming from the Evo, so the whole Galaxy thing is new to me..
I get the exact same signal as my photon. I was doubtful at first but I am actually surprised I get 4g in my room. I don't get it with the evo3d. Photon got it and now sgs2 gets it too.

May be this depends on how strong the signal is. I know my EVO 4G had way better signal than the 3d that I dumped. I have the Photon, and if the signal is great I am coming aboard. The problem is there's no set measurement of how much more or less signal this phone has over the Photon or not. Also hows the regular 3g signal compared to the Photon? I like the fact that there is suppose to be support for the next rev B or 1xdo A signal. This means I can hold the damn phone for a more than a year if I choose to.
I'm a total noob or something cause I can't seem to find [irl.MSL] according to the thread. Little help please?
A reviewer did 'study' of 4G signal strength-reception andnfpund the Photon with the best reception of any Sprint phone.

Don't think it's there, either... But call 611 and they'll tell you immediately. Can confirm the fix works, at least for boosting signal. Speed seems unchanged, but fine... About 4mbps.
I just switched from Sprint 3G to Verizon 4G LTE. I was really hoping for a big improvement. I "kinda" got what I wanted except in the one place I am at the most....work. I spend 9-12 hours a day at work in a factory and the Verizon signal just barley makes it where I sit all day. I basically don't get 4G unless I go outside. Sprint was killing me with 20Kbps download speed and I got tired of it. Now I may be stuck in the same with Verizon. On the bright side Verizon does work very well outside of my work, unlike Sprint.
I did install a custom rom with latest updates. Android Revolution 4.0.1
What's the question?
You're worried about data speeds inside a factory?

More of a comment. I thought 4G would work better than 3G. I sit at a desk in the factory. So yes I'm concerned about data.

because of the frequency, LTE is worse inside buildings if i remember correctly.
the good news, your 3g is faster than sprint by a long shot
It's the nature of the beast. In many factories, you're going to run into quite a few things that are going to impair RF transmissions. Some frequency bands may propagate better than others, but you need to bear in mind that it's already a suboptimal environment.

I don't know much either, but I doubt they would do anything about it unless there's a profit involved
I guess they could have "supercharged" service for more money haha.
Bite your tongue!
Being at work.....doesn't that mean you should not be using your phone for personal use? I know everybody does it but too many people abuse the time clock.....
that being said, maybe you should not be bummed that your phone doesn't work at crazy speeds, this way you can be great full for the job you keep in this tough economy.
Not trying to sound like a d!ck but complaints like this are really unneeded and undeserving.

You would probably get a much better signal with the RAZR. I was getting 2 bar of 4G LTE in my basement, where my Galaxy Nexus could barely keep a 3G signal. Unfortunately the radios on the Galaxy Nexus suck, so that may have something to do with it.
I know all areas get different reception. But how is the gs3 holding up with pulling in quality cell reception?

Basically what I'm getting at is, the one s gets good reception but is either at 4g or edge, no in between. So does the 4g fall off a lot or does it hold pretty good?
Well it's difficult to say because, as we all know, reception bars can be deceptive. I seem to get the same reception performance as my old Nexus S. In places where my Nexus struggled, I don't feel my GS3 is doing any better. Not that I feel it is bad, I was fairly satisfied with my Nexus S performance.

4G is 3g(hspa +) just really fast 3g, att didn't want to invest on hspa+ much but tmobile did to make sure they have a good speed network, and after 3g (4g) is just edge whic is slow, performance seems the same on both phones had the one s for a while and it was a good phone but screen didn't look as good (I was used to the galaxy nexus)

I'm getting horrible reception. I had a Nexus One and HTC Sensation before the SGS3, and never had any 'time without a signal' while at home. With this phone, I am always getting 25-30% 'time without a signal', and of course then the battery drains quickly with Cell standby taking up a lot of juice.
Extremely disappointed, I wonder if Samsung RF just utterly sucks when compared to HTC?
Cool. Liking the responses, so far. The one s feels good overall but I feel the radio on this thing needs improvement, considering my wife's Nokia lumia pulls 3g+ everywhere. I'm torn. Bought my phones from wirefly and try have advanced replacement for free. Maybe ill try the gs 3 and if its still bad, Ill call T-Mobile up. I know the gs3 has a huge screen, but what kind of battery should I expect with moderate use?
Battery performance for me has been about the same as my Nexus S. It's definitely not amazing, but it surely is adequate. I'm expecting battery could be quite a bit better with a stock Android build. Either way, it will have to be plugged in overnight, but it's definitely got enough juice to get me through the day. I would say I have moderate to heavy use given that I browse the Web several hours each day.

My one S had horrible reception, it'll go from full bars to none then to one. In my area the One S would pull off barely one. Now my S3 pulls 3 or 4 in the same area
Radios can always use improvement.
I just came from using the at&t galaxy note on t-mobile and the sensation before that.
I'm in Minneapolis and my gs3 is getting me the most consistent connections and highest speeds of all of my previous phones.
The only minus is that sometimes, when leaving my house and turning off Wi-Fi, it sticks on edge for a minute.

Sorry if this has been brought up before but with Googles latest revision 6, would it be worth getting a nexus over an epic touch 4g? I have been offered a trade of a nexus for my et4g and thought I would check with everyone to see if it would be worth it with the new revision. If the phone is much better now really the only thing that would prolly bother me is that 4g lte will not be in my area for a few months so I would have to stick with sprints crap 3g unless it is better on the nexus. Horrible 3g on my epic.

Latest software? Nope. Ask verizon and nexus nexus owners about how that latest software is going. Latest hardware? Nope. When it was released, it was a mid end device hardware wise.
Biggest l deal breaker should be the network. It seems like you already have wimax 4g. Always use a phone for its network and not network for phone. Even if lte is going to start launching in your market, it's going to be a few towers here or there with random coverage that slowly increases as more sites come online. Sprint lte market launches with 30-40% or even less towers completed.
Ask yourself if you're really willing to wait 6-9 months for lte in most places around you.

Well I am in Austin Texas and apparently we are supposed to be getting it by the end of October or November. The wimax 4g is definitely better than 3g but was just checking if the update makes it much better than the et4g and if 3g was better. On the paranoid thread it said that the update males the nexus pretty much kill every phone out in terms of snappiness and speed so I did not know if anyone had any experience with it. No microsd support but it is 32gb storage so that helps. Better screen so.. just seeing if it was worth it or not for a straight up trade and then I would purchase a quad core when they come out.
Indeed it is a active network vision market but iirc most upgrades are in the Waco region. Don't know if Austin itself is upgraded yet. If nv hasn't reached your city... Speedy nexus or not : you will hate it for slow data speeds.
Ur choice but my warning to you is watch the data speeds especially 3g. Austin market projected completion is the end or q1 2013...

Well one of my techs recently just traded his E4GT for a nexus, and he couldn't be happier. Even with the slightly inferior processor, that thing runs like an entirely different animal with jelly bean on it. It blows our device out of the water in terms of just general UI awesomeness.
Consider this: the nexus 7 posts similar benchmarks to the iPhone 5, and that's with the much hyped but still underwhelming tegra 3. Not to mention being underclocked. Jelly Bean really does make that much of a difference.
Now would I do it? No. But that's just because I'm attached to my devices as if they were my children lol.

Actually, 4G is pretty normal in almost all major cities at this point which is where a much higher population of people reside statistically. This means more people get 4G than don't. If you live in the sticks then that may be an issue for you but it definitely does not mean 4G is worthless.

Do I actually use it? Well, If I was on Sprint with "Unlimited LTE" or if I had unlimited with Verizon I would use LTE 24-7 if I had unlimited data. In fact, If I had unlimited data I would just remove my Comcast Wifi and use LTE for all my data at home LOL.

You mean other then giving you voice and data at the same time?
Here in Houston, where we supposedly were part of the initial LTE rollout, 4G is still a hit or miss. 1 mile down the road from my old apartment, I could get 30 mbps down, 15 mbps up, but inside my apartment, I only had 1 to 2 bars of dead slow 3g.
Also, signals indoors are usually horrendous. I'm giving sprint until the end of my contract in a year to show me they can improve.

Got the same thing right around Christmas and i thought i was dreaming. Hey when you live in a rural area and have to use satellite for internet 4g is a welcome surprise.
Speeds aren't the best I've seen, approx 10mg down and up, but that's way nicer than the 3g i was used to.
I think in general battery life had improved. Typically i would try to toggle LTE off when home but half the time I'd forget so it'd drain a bit quicker searching.
