Hi,
After "bricking" my new Defy, i installed the ROM of section "
Installed full Gingerbread SBF and can’t go back to another rom" of All-in-One Defy Beginners Guide.
Its works and after i install the firmware, it stops working. And after that, i can't install any SBF, i tried Froyo CEE2.2.2(i want to install CM7 or CM9), but nothing.
Then i have to start all over again(go to RSD Lite, flash with JORDN_U3_97.21.51,
install 2init, reboot wipe the data/cache, the install other SBF). But it doesnt work with others SBF i tried. Between those i tried, JORDN_U3_97.21.51 is the only one that worked, and i don't like it =(
Can somebody help me?
Please be more clear. You had a defy with froyo? You flashed a full gingerbread 2.3.6 sbf? What sbf was that? You then flashed a froyo sbf with bootloader 5? And now you want to flash back your old froyo?
What defy do you have? Green or red lens? You can find a guide about that in the forums.

I had a trouble with my old CM7 after try to install a new BOOTLOADER, as I explain in this post
Now I follow the instructions in this post and I have a 4.5.1-134-DFP-132-Android 2.3.6, and I wans't able to downgrade. I flashed various Full SBF, some worked some not.
I was trying to install a CM rom but I can't, I even don't know which one I have to chose.
Can some one give me a link with the one I must use?
I got the rom rooted with SuperOneclick and sndInit instaled the 1.0.7 BL instaled.
Thanks
I wonder... what is the puprose of installing updated kernel and bootloader? What did it give to you???
I guess nothing good, in my case now I'm locked with a ROM I dislike, full BLUR and battery drain... :_(

well grosss! the sbf you ve flashed. its mentioned above there that no downgrade to GB 2.3.4. and can't even flash cm7. so betta not to flash those. try flashing MS2Ginger By Walter79 or any defy+ Rom or any rom of spears DHT. this would definately help you. after that you could downgrade .but never flash the full sbf as you hae done
Whenever you install a new ROM or zip file, do a wipe data / cache before and after, to be sure.
If you do not make any new SBF will not work.
To do this, turn on the device with the vol-button pressed until the icon appears Custon recovery. After that press Vol + (or both together), select wipe data / factory and then cache (go to Vol-/ + and OK button to power on / off).
If the android does not start, reinstall the SBF and do the procedure again.
hi, i managed to revive my phone after i bricked it with 2.3.6
now i have T-mobile full sbf 2.3.6 for Defy MB526
the problem is the camera doesn't work and the battery drains very fast
what 2.3.6 SBF should i flash for Defy MB525 green lens?
i can't flash anything below 2.3.6 because i can't downgrade...
the phone it's NOT rooted...
No 2.3.6 sbf will revive your camera as greenlensed cameras only work on Froyo kernels. 2.3.6 was only intended for Defy+ (red lense), so you need to say your camera "bye bye"... At least you got your phone back - better than a dead phone with dead camera.

I did not checked the latest updates from Walter, but last time I've checked the greenbread mod was working on 2.3.6 if you flashed the fixed SBF and not the FULL one.
try this one
115.com/file/bewak9fz
JDGC_U6_2.13.0 , for ME525, China, 2.2.3, BL=6, boot version=2

didn't worked.... what now ?
You've mentioned in the OP that you have flashed the 2.3.6 Full SBF. To get your camera working all you have to do is follow next steps:
1) download this SBF (link); I think it's the same SBF jianbangguo suggested
2) restart in stock recovery a do a full wipe (wipe data + cache)
3) restart in bootloader mode (Vol Up+Power)
4) plug in the USB and flash with RSD Lite (v>= 4.9) the SBF downloaded at 1)
5) your Defy should be running on Froyo kernel now.
6) activate USB debugging and root it with SuperOneClick 2.3.3
7) install Defy 2nd init (i recommend you to look for v1.4.2, because this app has all required files in it)
8) download a froyo CEE nandroid backup (SBF's topic, Froyo CEE topic or search for it on Google) and put it on your SD Card
9) restart your phone in custom recovery (Vol Down on the blue [email protected])
10) restore Froyo CEE nandroid
11) do a full wipe (data, cache and dalvik cacke) in custom recovery, then reboot.
at this point the phone doesn't start....
5) your Defy should be running on Froyo kernel now.
black screen
what now?
i'm stuck with Defy+ 2.3.6 SBF and no camera?
seems i have BL7 on my phone i have DFP 188
Sad there's development going on for bl7 lets see
Fingers crossed

We're trying to root this firmware .. I have the same problem with the camera also is not charging battery
here camera not working and battery drains very fast
a litle better
The best solution at this time is to flash the full sbf "DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-2311.sbf" can be found by googleing it. At least one day of battery on moderate use. Mening: 1h talh time + 2h Wifi + 2-3h palyng Angry Birds. Still no root and no camera. . But otherwise fully functional.

hi there i follow and install all what stated here but my Defy with green lense now not working, cant even go to bootloader... when i flash the 1st step i failed then now RDS cant see my device.
Those steps apply if your bootloader version is 6 (the 1st versions of the Gingerbread 2.3.6 SBF's from Moto). Meanwhile they released new GB SBF's that have upgraded the bootloader to version 7. From what you are saying you had and BL V7 installed on your Defy, hence those steps won't be useful to you.
The main reason is that you cannot downgrade your bootloader version (that's what you are trying to do when you flash the SBF from point 1, which has a BL signed with V6). That is the expected result (black screen with error message or red M logo and no boot) if you try to flash a SBF with a lover version that the SBF installed last time on your device.
To revive your Defy you must flash the last SBF you had before or the Defy+ CEE official SBF (DEFYPLUS U3_4.5.1-134 DFP-231) . If you have enough battery you should be able to start your phone into bootmode (Vol UP + Power). It should work, but if it doesn't work with RSD Lite (v>4.9) you can also try on a linux pc with sbf_flash by mbm.
PS: green lenses Defy cannot use camera if FULL Defy+ SBF was flashed.

I have same.
defy green lend Full flash dfp231 ( BL 7).
no way to BL7 Froyo kernel?
Updated Defy with official (I think) 2.3.4 - camera stopped working. Tried installing new rom via RSD lite v4.9. Now stuck with black screen...tried the power and vol+, power and vol- and taking battery out with both but nothing! the phone is still recognised by RSD and shows successful when flashing new roms (tried a few!) but still black screen :crying:
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks H
Update: Tried the Mckyver battery route and was able to use RSD - that said flashed ok but still black screen!
You can read all about it across the forum. You flashed a defy plus ROM. Flash this ROM again then wipe through stock recovery. You can't downgrade. Try to find out what BL number that ROM has. (A tool found in the sbf sticky threat)
If it is 6 or 5 you can get your camera back. With 7 no chance.

:victory: Thanks....i flashed a defy+ rom and it now boots and loads as normal. Now to find out if i can (am clever enough!) to change rom to CM..?
Witch defy+ ROM have you flashed? The same as the first one you have flashed? Please check witch number it phase with the tool in the sbf threat to see if you still can use camera.
For cm. You can just flash defy+ builds. Sometimes you need to flash a battery fix afterwards (because defy+ one is different)
Don't flash a kernel because it can give BL errors.

I dont understand how to check the sbf - I've downloaded Motorola Depacker and the smgver.exe and ver.bat, split the sbf and have 12 CGXX files ranging from 31 - 65.....but no idea what to do or to check.
Would like to put CM.. on but not sure if camera would start working or what sbf/rom is best!
Thabks again...at least I have a phone...but still no cam :silly:

On this Rom you're on now, do you have camera? Prop not (otherwise you won't ask).
This means you have the green lens. No Defy+ has his lens so the needed module isn't in the kernel.
The ting is that you can't run a kernel for lower versions, so no froyo kernel with this rom and I thought also no lower Defy+ kernels.
You have to check the version of CG31.smg. If it is 5, you can use a leaked v5 eclair rom and with v6 a froyo.
I checked and it it v6.
Edit:
Found the link to the froyo rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486731
Just flash it like the defy+ sbf, (wipe with stock recovery), root (super one click), install 2nt-init (search a bit), try and flash the froyo kernel from http://defy.wdscript.fr/kernel/ with custom recovery in 2nt-init.
(please report if it works aka if boots up afterwards. If it doesn't aka you get a bootloader error, search which smg is the kernel and depack the sbf and repack just that one and flash the repacked sbf)
After that, just flash the CM10 zip (now the defy one) and wipe/factory reset from the custom recovery in 2nt-init and you will have Jellybeans with camera.
Edit2:
Why is this in General?... If I had noticed it earlier I wouldn't have answered and have it reported  (or maybe not so drastic)

WOW! THat worked perfectly (I'm running CM9 at the moment)! Thank you so much. THere was no bootloader error and everything went fine - only issue was was installing 2nt-init, but a reboot seemed to do the trick.
Thanks again very much appreciated.

We need a sticky with FAQ on bricks and how to fix them, so many of these threads pop up, any mod reading this should compile one
Sent from the real world by hacking into the matrix
Maybe I'll try and then ask the moderator for a sticky...
Now you can go to any froyo or gb version by restoring nandroid backup and flushing fixed sbf.

Hi. All was working well when I was running Quarx's version of CM10 on my Green Lens Defy. I could update to each new update CM10 ROM by clearing the data and cache then flashing the ROM and GApps. After that, I wiped the dalvik cache and reboot. Note my Defy is using a Froyo kernel.
Then I decided to try out Codename Android JB Beta and I did what I normally did with the ROM and then GApps. I ended up stuck in a bootloop. No problem I thought. I'd just reflash Quarx's own version of CM10 after wiping data and cache. I got stuck in a bootloop again. Odd. I tried it with older versions of Quarx's CM10 and they result in me getting stuck in a bootloop as well. So I flashed the US T-Mobile SPF for the Defy using RSD Lite then I logged in to BLur and such as that is needed to access the homescreen where I then turned on USB debugging. I then plugged in my phone into my computer to use SuperOneClick Root to root my device. It said my device was already rooted though I don't think that should happen since I flashed a stock 2.1 SPF. Well I rebooted and installed the 2ndinit apk then installed 2ndinit using the app. I think it said that 2ndinit was already installed. But if my memory is wrong in this case, I then installed 2ndinit and rebooted my Defy but I never got a blue LED.
Then I did the same steps as I did previously over and over again with variations to try to get it to work.
Can someone help?
I caution anyone who may attempt to install Codename Android JB Beta from CM10.
On another matter, downloading an OTA update then rebooting when pressing "install now" brings me to the triangle with exclamation screen and gets stuck there.
Have you done a fullwhipe in the Motorola Recovery before flashing the SBF??(usually you would get a bootloop without fullwhiping but maybe the solution is that easy )
And why did you flash a 2.1 SBF you should maybe try some other SBFs like the Froyo SBFs for your Country

Can you suggest a good SBF for a US Green Lens Defy if you know any?
Is it fine if I use the 3.4.2-179 CEE Deblur SBF as recommended by Quarz for a base then root, install 2ndinit. and flash CM10 from Clockwork Mod Recovery?
