I've just bought a Galaxy Nexus, I've turned him on, all OK, but I cannot add a Google Account, on Accounts & Sync > Add an Account, I just have the option for Corporate and Email.
No Google Apps at all (not even Google Market (Play Store).

Mobile is brand new as retail (no carrier)
Do a factory reset.. I seen that happening to 2 people and the factory reset fixed it.. Hope it helps.

**FAQ**
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. How do I Update to the latest Google Stock Rom?
THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL ERASE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE BACKUP ANYTHING YOU NEED.
You can use the GN ToolKit which will do everything automatically or execute the following steps.
Or you can follow the following instructions and do it manually:
These steps assume that you have set up your adb/fastboot drivers correctly.
1. Download it from *HERE*.
2. Unzip it to a folder on your pc.
3. Copy the file fastboot-windows.exe to this folder (you can find the fastboot file in many places including my ToolKit download on post#1).
4. Browse to this folder on your pc, hold the 'shift' key down while right clicking on a blank area of the window and select 'Open command window here' to open a command prompt in that folder.
5. Boot the phone into Fastboot Mode (KEEP holding the 'Volume up' and 'Volume down' buttons while pressing the 'Power' button).
6. Connect your device via the usb cable
7. In the command prompt type:
which should return your phones serial number and prove you are connected.
8. To flash the google images type the following:
9. Press the power button to boot into pure Android and complete the setup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I want to send my phone back so I need to flash a stock rom and relock the bootloader
1. Download and run the GN Toolkit.
2. Follow instructions on the first screen to install fastboot drivers (if you havent already done so)
3. Option5 to flash a stock rom.
4. Let the phone reboot, then shut the phone down and reenter fastboot mode again (hold vol up and vol down buttons together while pressing power button).
5. Option7 to relock the bootloader.
Your internal storage will be formatted and data and cache wiped.

The problem is that I bought it online, to return it and receive a new one will take aprox. 15 days...
It seems you have a pre-release engineering build installed. You can unlock the boot loader, flash 4.0.2, relock and be done with it. Or you can send it back.
Just follow the instructions posted above. It's easy and can be done in less than 15 minutes.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
Don't worry about your warranty... you don't have one.
You have an early pre-releae eng version for software.
This is not a retail device.
That's really weird... anyway, since this is the only phone I have, i'll have to do this...
One big problem, I've tried with the GNex TOOLKIT and manually PdaNET exe to install ADB/FASTBOOT drivers...
With GNex i'm getting a error message regarding cache
With PdaNET i'm getting Install to phone failed, Installer fail to open device popup
Any ideas?
When I turn on the phone on FastBoot mode it shows
FASTBOOT MODE on red
and down bellow shows
LOCK STATE - UNLOCKED on red also
What does those messagers means?

Yes!
It shows a Unlock figure.
I would like to uplode the Google Factory Image, how to do that manually?
http://code.google.com/intl/pt-BR/android/nexus/images.html
I have this screen on normal boot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and if I do the Fastbooloder (all buttons pressed) this screen:
1. Download the Android 4.0.2 factory images to your PC.
2. Unzip the file and its contents into your SDK/Tools folder (wherever your adb.exe and fastboot.exe files
are).
*Make sure they are not in their own folder, but have all been extracted to Tools.
3. From within your Tools folder, open a command prompt (SHIFT + right click – “open command prompt here”):
4. Type the following commands, allowing each to finish before moving onto the next:
adb reboot bootloader
sh flash-all.sh
or
adb reboot bootloader
chmod +x flash-all.sh
./flash-all.sh
Link
Ive installed SDK but there isn't those 2 .exe at Tools folder.
But on Desktop there is a folder called adb-tool_for_windows, with a Tools folder, and inside there is adb.exe and fastboot.exe
Can I use this folder?
To tools folder, do I have to extract what is inside the .tgz file or what is inside the .tar files?
I have here xxxx.tgz\xxxx.tar\yakju-icl53f folder\1 .sh files 2 .img files 1 .zip file

System write protection.
There is a mod to disable that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/des...e-disable-write-protection-v1-0-tool-t2966850
Or use a custom ROM, those have it disabled already.
I went through all the necessary steps. Only thing/issue now is the actual flashing of the root file. It will not take. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a way to get the necessary binary or whatever it's asking for? Thank you in advance.

I. Before You Begin Doing Anything
**As with all of these types of tutorials, this may void the warranty of your device. Do it at your own risk.
**Download and install the Asus USB Drivers on your PC, if you haven’t done so yet.
**This should only work on a Windows based PC only.
II. Downloading Required Files
** Necessary tools and Drivers - Mediafire Folder
**Latest OTA form ASUS website : WW_2.17.40.12
** Boot.img, Droidboot.img and Recovery.img from this MEGA Drive posted by Chinaphonearena user and belong to Shakalaca.
** System.img - if you want your phone ROOTed on latest ASUS ZF2 Firmware.
III. Yeah! Im ready to do it
**Plug in your device to your PC using a USB cable.
**Boot your device to fastboot mode Power + Vol Up to enter Bootloader Mode
**Hold down Shift and Right-Click anywhere in Fastboot Folder on your PC and select Open command here. It will launch a Command Prompt Window for you to issue commands to your device.
**When it launches, type in the following command and press Enter (.img files has to be in same folder as fastboot tools):
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash fastboot droidboot.img - droidboot.img is fastboot, and if you somehow will flash corrupted image, you won't be able to boot to fastboot anymore. Thanks to sorg
fastboot flash system system.img - Only if you use Pre-ROOTed system image from MEGA Drive.
IV. Ready to go with OTA!
** Upload WW_2.17.40.12 or latest Firmware OTA ( Full firmware ) file to phone storage (Phone storage/File.zip)
** After uploading .zip OTA file to phone storage, unplug USB cable from phone. You will recieve notification that new OTA UPDATE is avaliable for installation.
When you bought CN version of ZF2 you may have to Rename OTA file from UL-Z00A-WW-2.17.40.12-user.zip to UL-Z00A-CN-2.17.40.12-user.zip to get notification about update avaliable.
** Wait till update will finish (approx 10 - 15 min) . Phone will restart when finished. First boot may take longer.
V. Dam! No Notification!? what now...
** Boot your device to fastboot mode Power + Vol Up to enter Bootloader Mode
** At Bootloader press Vol Up to choose Recovery Mode
** You will see an error message of updating ota. Wait 5 sec and then press Power + Vol Up simultaneously until you see recovery menu.
** Using Vol Down + Vol Up choose ADB mode and connect your phone to PC via USB cable
** You need Fastboot version 1.0.32 and up to make ADB Sideload working properly with Zenfone 2
** Extract Fastboot.zip somewhere at your PC and put OTA update file ( .zip) in same folder as Fastboot.
** Hold down Shift and Right-Click anywhere in Fastboot Folder on your PC and select Open command here. It will launch a Command Prompt Window for you to issue commands to your device.
** Use command : adb sideload filename.zip
** At 100% it will go back to Recovery Mode main menu. Restart your phone.
** Done !

Are you sure this works i mean there are thousands of threads regarding this issue but none of them work..Can someone with CN version confirm the working of this method....
I bought phone on Aliexpress website. Phone has WW OTA but update via Wi-Fi was impossible. Firmware was 13.40.13 so i think people with that firmware had CN version at start, then sellers updated it to 13.40.13 WW and sended to buyers. Following my method you can update to the latest WW.
Works fine. We've published a similar method. I recommend using the latest rooted ROM. Note, your LTE 4G bands won't be changed with this method.

The method posted can be done with any system.img (don't have to use rooted ROM), there's no need to do the OTA update as its already the latest ROM (though it will be compatible with future OTA updates, thanks to the ROM creator), and you end up rooted.
They are essentially the same, except for flashing system.img at fastboot instead of doing OTA update. Take your pick. If not caring about root, your method is certainly quicker, as there's no need to DL the huge system.img file.
Thanks. Much appreciated
confirmed works fine on a rooted CN version
Hi,
I followed all the steps and apart from thinking I'd bricked it (the system update screen was sat with the blue bar unmoved for 15 minutes) . It's just completed perfectly.
Really great advice - thanks - I got 2 of these handsets yesterday via ebay both came rooted and it turns out they are CN models but had WW software on them - as per your model - prior to reading your post I was probably going to try and send them back.
I hope and presume for future updates I can continue to use this method?
will do 2nd one now.
Cheers
Ian
Thanksssssssssssssssssssss
Honestly, last time that I tried to have a custom ROM or in any other words, last time I installed and used ( I'm still using it) it was on my samsung galaxy tab(the first galaxy tab of all time) two years ago!
At first I was puzzled in all of these forum pages. I started to change my CN rom to WW Rom yesterday at 2 o'clock. Since I started this process, I just ate dinner and slept for 5 hours. The rest of the time I was trying to install 7 different roms which are available in this forum or asus zenfone forum by 3 different methods of loading a ROM! NONE OF THEM WORKED CORRECT AND COMPLETELY. so I had to start again and read. I can easily say that I've read more than a fat ass book for this process (most of them were duplicates, but I was looking for s.th new among them...)
Your method worked just nolw (@ 1 pm) and I'm really thankful. Honestly I was so bumped and I was thinking to send this device back, just an hour ago I saw your way for the second time and I just decided to try this time as the last way, before returning it!! thank u again for giving me a zenfone
keep up the good work
Confirmed ok on 2nd handset - red CN model 32gb 4gb ram.
It has removed the root access though... Supersu app has gone. and Root checker confirms not rooted.
Which is ok because I can now use Skygo app on the phone - really wasn't expecting that to work!
Thanks guys for good news that it work for you too. I hope that TUT will help others to get rid of 13.40.13 which drain battery as $%^&. Without root it's hard for efficient battery save but atm i use battery doctor from G market and I need to say after 4h it drained 3% battery with turned WiFi. I just wait for proper root tutorial.

Hello,
Im stuck at no.5, sorry to ask but I don't know what you mean by phone root storage and where it is found.
Can you help please
He means the base of your SD card. Don't copy the OTA into a folder on SD. Copy it to the base of the SD.
with my cable still connected and fastboot still open?
Because I have put it in the sd card nothing happen
Reboot the phone. You should get an OTA update notification. Or boot into recovery and apply the update from there.

As far as steps, I can only speak of the ZE551ML. Start with an unrooted OS.
1.) Download the ADB and Fastboot tools from google (see links above). Download the pre-rooted from from shakalaca in post #1 (If you download the 200MB split version, Windows File Explorer will allow you to open the .zip and copy the .img file out.)
2.) Download the stock full ROM WW_2.15.40.10 directly from support.asus.com
3.) Plug the phone into the PC via USB and copy the UL-Z00A-WW-2.15.40.10-user.zip onto the phone.
4.) The phone will notify you that there is an update:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5.) When you select the notification you will be prompted of which file to use in the update:
6.) Hit OK and the phone will reboot and update everything it needs to update per ASUS. (This will include the fastboot/droidboot image, boot, recovery, system, silentlake, and modem firmware.)
7.) Once the update has completed, unplug and power off the phone.
8.) While holding volume up, press the power button until the phone vibrates. At this point release the power button but keep holding the volume up button until the screen flickers to the fastboot menu. Release the volume button when the screen flickers.
9.) Plug the phone back into your computer, open a command prompt and navigate to where you extracted the google tools and the system.img.
10.) Run:
fastboot devices
11.) You should see a your device listed, if you do not, your device is not in fastboot mode.
12.) Assuming you see your device listed in Step 10, run:
fastboot flash system system.img
This will erase your current system partition and then start writting the new image to the partition. Fastboot will split the system.img file into ruffly 500MB chucks and send them to your device.
13.) Once its finished, you can select boot normally on your phone by pressing the power button or run:
fastboot reboot[/QUOTE]
Hey,
since nobody posted a tutorial on how to root the G8 here I will explain how I worked through the tutorial here:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/how-to-root-huawei-g8-bootloader-unlock-cwm-root.729546/
For me it worked like this, but remember that you do the steps at your own risk. Also note that the process will factory reset your phone, so make sure to backup everything in advance!
Getting an unlock code:
Go to hwid5.vmall[dot]com an Register to get a Huawei ID.
Login at the unlock page: https://hwid5.vmall.com
Accept Unlocking Agreement
Enter model number (on your phone you find it at: Settings > About phone > Model number)
Enter serial number (on your phone you find it at: Settings > About phone > Status > Serial number)
Enter IMEI (on your phone you find it at: Settings > About phone > Status > IMEI or IMEI1)
Enter Product ID (on your phone enter: *#*#1357946#*#*)
Submit and get the unlock code. Save it somehow.
Unlock Bootloader:
Download Tools from https://www.mega.nz
Unzip everything to folder HUAWEI G8
Copy HUAWEI G8\SuperSU-PRO-V2.46.zip on your devices storage or sd-card.
Install ADB Driver: HUAWEI G8\UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi
Enable developer options on phone: Settings > About phone > build number (tap number 10 times)
Enable oem-unlock on phone: Settings -> developer options -> activate oem unlock
Power off your phone, attach USB cable from phone to pc, hold VOLUME DOWN + POWER BUTTON for some seconds until you see the Fastboot Mode
You should see PHONE Locked and FRP Unlock
On PC goto HUAWEI G8 folder hit SHIFT + RIGHT-CLICK and "Open Command Prompt here"
Enter Command: fastboot oem unlock YOUR_UNLOCK_CODE
Phone should be unlocked. Reboot phone.
Install TWRP Recovery:
Boot phone to fastboot (VOLUME DOWN + POWER BUTTON)
Enter Command: fastboot devices
The command should list your phone
Flash TWRP recovery with command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Install Super-SU:
Boot to recovery with VOLUME UP + POWER BUTTON
Make a backup
Choose Install Zip and install SuperSU-PRO-V2.46.zip (the zip you copied to the device in the beginning)
Reboot. Done!
I hope this helps some of you.
Cheers.
Thank you for posting this!

TWRP TeamWin endless loop, no system start
Sorry for my stupide english, it´s not my native language, but I had problem´s after install TWRP. First time it seems that´s all ok, i have root on my G8. But by the next reboot the phone starts TeamWin and that´s all. I had no chance to start the system, TeamWin goes into a bootloop. The only thing that helped was to flash the original bootloader.
Details of my system:
Huawei RIO-L01 (G8)
Kernel 3.10.49
Android version 5.1
EMUI version 3.1
If you have problems like this load the orignal stock.img from uploaded [dot]net/file/4pafyrxf
Flash it with fastboot.
Re-zip the file in the same folder as fastboot.exe
Power off your phone
Press Vol down + power button on your phone for about 10 seconds
If you see the white display, connect the phone on your PC
Have a look if phone and FRP is unlocked
in the folder of fastboot.exe click shift + the right mouse button
Choose "Command Prompt open here"
fastboot starts on your PC
write „fastboot devices „ (without the „ “ )
Now you must see a answere from your phone. (it´s abc123 or something like that)
Write „fastboot flash recovery stock.img“ (also without the „“) and press enter
If all is right you have the Stock Recovery and the phone starts normaly.
I hope I can help someone
Please note, i give no warranty! You make it at your own risk!

Hy Pawha!
I had an unlocked bootloader and locked it by flashing the stock Rom manual.
I downloaded the original Stock Rom from the Huawei page, Re ziped the dload folder to a NTFS formated SD card.
Turn off the phone, press Vol up + Vol down + power button for a view seconds.
The phone start´s with flashing.
After flashing i had a closed bootloader.
In another forum I read that it apparently still is no proper effective method to close a bootloader.
This method is an attempt!

Is any way to make full backup of my official ROM without unlock bootloader& flash TWRP?
My G8 ROM single sim (bought from Romania) :

Thanks for the reply! But i'm affraid i blew it up this time. I remembered that i uninstalled some system apps, and that must have been the problem to install the new update, even after i removed the root, and relocked the bootloader. So i just unlocked it again, rooted it again, and restored a backup on Twrp that had all system apps. After that, re-installed stock recovery, toggled OEM lock on settings and relocked bootloader. The update went ok, no errors, but the phone is stuck on the Huawei logo. And now i can't do anything because the OEM is locked on settings... Anyway of unlocking it via ADB? please help me, the phone is new!

Turn off your Phone, press Vol+ and then the Power button. When the phone vibrate, leave only the Power button, but not the Vol+ .Hold it, Team Win or EMUI is starting. Make a data/ factory reset and a cache reset. Reboot your system, maybe the phone starts normaly!
I had the same problems a year ago with a Nexus 4. I could fix it with this reset´s

Big ANNOUNCEMENT! An actual twrp recovery image has been compiled and uploaded!(In china)
Here's my reuploaded copy! (Won't take 10 minutes to download) Thanks to mrquyen1993 for sharing this update and a HUGE thanks to... I actually dont know...
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6qqU5WVQ2khMVRMSUhOUWY3WU0/view?usp=sharing
Phone, SMS, and data work perfectly! I had issues with sms due to damaged SIM card(weirdest thing ever).
Hello, I believe a simlock solution has been found. add attached misc.img to your b3 adb directory and open terminal and enter command fastboot flash misc misc.img in bootloader mode. If that doesn't work try it in download mode. I can't test if this is a successful fix or not because I didn't have this problem.
So when I flash this rom, I will get a completely clean rom with no bloatware, root and TWRP?
And if I have root I can use your method to be able to text again?
Twrp is still only flashable to recovery and and all gsm cell service works, but other than that you're correct. These are the stock flashable images. (You need to decompress the file)

Sim card problem
My phone keeps showing "SIM network subset unlock PIN" , it reboots after i entered the pin, it goes back to the same page after it reboots. Any solutions?
This only happens when there's a SIM card being inserted.

Have you tried:
-soft factory reset(in settings)
-factory reset and/or wiping cache in download mode
-factory reset and/or wiping cache in recovery
-wiping system, data, and cache in twrp prior to flashing boot, recovery, and system
-reverting to backup
-trying simlock toggle in recovery/weird mode with vol+ and power on boot
-Checking sim support/trying different sim
These are steps I would take (in the order least to most in depth[not this order])
Sounds like a problem with your sim card from your specific provider. The phone with Tiawan has an international apn-configs.xml

Hi, the whole reason to do this for me is to get SMS working in the UK on this phone. Will this fix it? Also will this root the phone, as the KLGadget guy on Youtube seems to think that you can flash the Taiwan Rom without Root, but I have had no luck (keeps saying SC CARD NOT MOUNTED when I try his method) thanks.

I'm a newbie with this.. I got my Nexus 5x a few weeks ago. With the instruction of someone else i unlocked the boot loader and rooted my phone. then i had an issue with boot looping after some customization on my phone. so i attempted to wipe all that stuff off my phone is TWRP and i accidentally checked system. Now what do i do? Now i don't really know what a rom is or adb side loader or something like that.. i need some simple and clear instructions to get my phone working again. preferably without having to root all over again (that was exhausting and quite difficult, lots of trial and error).. but if it won't be rooted anymore, it's better than nothing. You only removed system you should still be able to get into bootloader.
Turn phone off, hold the volume down button then power button.
Should go to a screen with a android man laying down and it saying fastboot mode in red.

@starlitserenity, I can help you get an OS back onto your phone. It's very simple even though you may be a NOOB. It's OK. As long as you have access to a PC and Internet you are OK because you can still access TWRP. Here is a list of steps:
1) go to forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/development
2) scroll down to the ROM labeled
"Pure Nexus"
3)In the first post (Original Post), scroll down and click on "Downloads & Changelog" You will be redirected to AFH (Android File Host) to download the ROM/OS
4)Scroll down just a little and you will see a Green Box with files/ROMs. Click on the newest one labeled
pure_Nexus_bullhead-6.0.1-20160407.
After you click on the ROM file, a new screen will appear with a Green Box that says "Begin Download".
