I would gern create my own ring tones and have downloaded several with built-in editor. Most of them have a button labeled "Record now" and I press the button I come to the "Voice Recorder" - I make a recording, and will then automatically return to the editor, but get this message "ist er ikke kunne edit files of this type .3 ga "- how do I change my recording, so it gets recorded in a second format?
Is there another "Voice Recorder" which is better?
I previously had installed a program that is always asked if it was a ring tone, notification, I would make, and record the correct format and store the following in the correct directory on the phone, but can ikkr remember what it's called.
Help wanted
record on your computer, put on your phone and open with "music player", press the left button next to the "home" button and select "Set as" and choose "phone ringtone" (sorry if this is not the answer for your question)

Hi.
I need some help to set an mp3 sound as SMS (text message) received sound. I put the mp3 file into My Documents/My Ringtones and when I will set the SMS sound (Start/Settings/Sounds & Notifications) I cant find the mp3 on the list
Does anybody knows how to set it?
Tks.
Copy the MP3 file to My Device/My Documents
Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications Tab
Tap the Event dropdown and choose "Messaging: New text message"
Make sure "Play sound" is ticked, and tap the dropdown to choose your sound.
Your MP3 filename *should* be there.
Tap the play button to test that it is the right one, then tap OK.
You now have an MP3 sound for your text notification.
Ok ZenithUK.
Thanks for yours instructions.
Plz modz, close the topic.
K...so am totally stumped with something seemingly so simple. I can't seem to get a ringtone assigned to specific contact. Odd.
For example, I assigned my wife the Angry Birds theme song...yet it still rings as default ringtone.
Someone enlighten me...perhaps I'm an idiot?
How did you assign it? I assigned my wife a ringtone by opening the music app, then long pressing a song, then selecting "set as" , then caller ringtone.

Well...THAT worked. Still odd tho, as normally I could just assign as an option directly through the contact itself. Thanks!

Does that mean Samsung broke Android, and you can't assign a ringtone from inside the contact anymore? That's actually a little annoying...

Press a contact.
Press Menu Button, then Edit.
Scroll down and you'll see Ringtone, press the arrow.
If you already have the ringtones on your SD card in the Media file structure, press "Phone Ringtone". If you have the sounds stored someplace else press "..from My Files"
You can do in editing when the contact is selected

Had already done this...that was my issue. They were assigned, but not working.
I am having a similar ringtone issue. First I have installed handcent. I told it to use handcent as the ringtone pocket. It does not use the handcent ringtone picker. So I copied my ringtones from the external sdcard to the internal one into a folder called media/audio/ringtones. I rebooted the phone and went to pick a ringtone and none of them are showing up. Some of them are ogg files and some are mp3 files. Since I am rooted, I moved them to the/system/media/audio/ringtones folder and they still don't show up. Any ideas what is going on? I am only able to change ringtones from viewing the contact. When I go to menu and select edit, there is no Ringtone item with an arrow beside it.
this very annoying everytime I work out at the gym and put the focus in my pocket this "I cant hear you" message comes up, just wondering if theres somewhere in the registry that can be used to make a toggle switch in systems ? If possible?
it's because the start button is being pressed, which triggers the voice command. goto settings -> speech
The same title , How record cal on Rom ARVD 12.1 .
i was install rom, but don't find record call .
please, help !
thanks !
press the menu button when in call and select start recording.
You'll find the recording for playback via the voice recorder app, they're stored in my documents/my recordings on your sd card

Thank you for that answer.
I followed your instructions, pressing the Menu button which is at the top doite the "Call" screen.
And I is not start recording.
I have installed your ROM ARDH 12.1
Why I have nothing?
have a look at these screenshots, might clarify things.
The menu is the 3dot button, bottom right. Press this once the call has connected to see the "start recording" option, the option will not appear until the call is connected...if you press the menu before this the option doesn't appear.
this is taken straight from ARHD 12.1 with no other modifications. If you don't see this it might be worth re-flashing and making sure you have the call record function selected in Aroma
On the above settings, I am trying to add custom ringtones. If I click on "Ringtones" I get a list of ringtones to choose from, but at the bottom of the dialog I also have "Add Cancel OK". I can click on the "Add" and add my own ringtones. This is great.
However when I click on "Notification ringtone " I do not have the option to Add any new tones. Why is that?
To complicate matters a bit more, in this list of available Notification ringtones I have a bunch of sounds and at the top there is "Silent". If I select this it would mean that all my incoming messages will be silent.
If I want however to silence just one or two contacts, I go to the contacts, select the contact, edit it, and try to modify the field "Message tone", but now this list does not contain "Silent" anymore!
In other words, I cannot add a custom sound file for "Notification ringtone" (there is no Add button) and I cannot select "Silent" Message tone for a particular contact as it seems this option has been removed! I can only select "Silent" Message tone in the Sound settings for ALL messages!
Is there a way around this?
