hi I have searched but to no success, I need the best Rom for gaiming and oc kernel I mean which is going to give me best performance and fps on games like backstab which lag abit. cola Rom looks perfect but it's only for cdma :-( so can someone who's played abit with roms on there play give me some advice please as I have finally gone and unlocked my bootloader thanks in advance and any help will be appreciated
The best for gaming is stock rom + custom kernel (like eg. DoomKernel) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176502)
For me it works on every game without lags (OC to 1.21 gHz)

thanks for reply, you have no lag on any game just by upping cpu by 200mhz ? is your stock se Rom bloat free ? I was thinking maybe oc by atleast 1.4 to really notice improvements because backstab lags quite abit in some places
with this kernel u got root and u can (using Titanium Backup) delete all bloatware from SE.
U can OC to max 2 gHz but i think it drain to much battery and i dont need more than 1.21 gHz, but if i find a game with lugs i change it.
doom kernel here I come
Best Gaming Rom + Kernel
Best Gaming rom is:
NXT Gaming 1.2
Its amazing All the tweaks in it together make it so fast i dont even use oc unless im like playing MC4(Yea,mc4,I can play mc4,The game that lagged so much on the xperia play,I can play it at minimal 30 Fps,i even get 50 somtimes and in cutscenes i get around 60)
I also use Lupus GB,It is truly amazing,I used to use Doomkernal because of its 1.8Ghz Oc capability but Lupus is truly faster,I got on average 30 FPs with Lupus @ 1.2 Ghz vs Doomkernal at 1.2 Ghz i got on average 26
I mesured all this with an app in the appstore called FPS Meter
Hope this helped!

I have already try this but the games are lagging (Reckless Racing 1 and 2, Rainbow Six, etc..). Can it be beacouse i am on stock rom?
What version of Doomkernel do you have? v11 and v13 2013 have a GPU overclock which caused some of our phones to underperform. v13 3013 should be fine for everyone.
I actually got very slightly higher 3D graphics Antutu scores with Darkforest kernel, but the battery life was better on Doomkernel (this is judging on JokaWild 2.5 rom) so stuck with that.
I am using Doom Kernel oc'd to 1.6ghz on a Stock R800X build, and game performance has improved dramatically over the Stock Kernel. Shadowgun and GTA3 used to be stuttering, laggy and unplayable. Now they are both smooth and enjoyable.

Good point, I would steer clear of ANY gpu overclocking. It has always had bad effects on my devices. Cpu overclocking is fine and recommended.
What about best Rom for gaming ?

The Rom I'm on (JokaWild 2.5) has boot scripts in \system\etc\init.d\ ...
I/O scheduler is SIO (I don't know what's best here)
CPU max/min on boot I'd modified to 1017600/364800 (SmartassV2). I only overclock as and when I need to.
I bought Reckless Racing 1 and Shadowgun when I was stock ROM + kernel and they never seemed to lag, although I didn't play them that much. Just reinstalled and had a spin of Reckless and it seems fine.
Do you find the homescreens / interface lagging as a whole? I had a problem on Doomkernel to start with where it would boot up at 921MHz max, and lag like crazy. I think it's because the CPU frequency table in Doomkernel is different to stock (eg. 1017600 instead of 1024000). Using OC/UV Beater 1.7 or SetCPU etc, or the boot script I've just mentioned, makes sure it's at the Doomkernel frequencies, and made the problem go away.
This might be someone else with the same issue on the Arc, I never took a logcat unfortunately.
my friend's sgw overclock cpu to 1.6GHZ and he can play "amazing spider man" without some lag , so can i overclock in cm9?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855557 is this correct?
kernel-CFS-UV-OC-29082012-V2.1.zip -
yap that is. using it till 1,7 Ghz and smooth/stable
However, no game will run fluid if it already has major lags with the stock frequency.
Especially lags that are caused by memory management can not be fully compensated by raw CPU-power.
So for better gaming experience, other control levers might be more effective, like uninstalling apps with background activities or disabling home screen in-memory-lock, if enabled. Exceptionally, before starting huge games, cleaning RAM can also avoid some lags at the beginning, as you anticipate androids low memory killer methods this way.
Hi everyone, I purely only use my xperia play for gaming, Can someone let me know which one is better for gaming:
the nxt 1.3?
or the nxt 1.3 light?
Or if you have any other gaming rom suggestions please post, thanks

Please post questions in the question and answer section!
And light means that the rom gives better performance so it's better for gaming...
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.

Hey friend!
For games I recommend Rom
NXT2JB v1.1b (By sewer56lol)
(If the download, which is the version v1.1b! Because-Remastered version contains some bugs)
Kernel: Doomkernel v1.4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176502)
And the application SETXPERIA!
suguiente configure it the way:
128 MHz - Min / 1027 Mhz - Max
Governor: Smartass v2
Scheduler: SIO
UNDERVOLT: -75 mV
And also the application used-Swapper2-(Free Google Play) With a 256MB swap partition.
And application-Ram Manager Pro (download the latest version) and use it in-game hard-way!
And If you want to save even more RAM! for better gaming performance
Use the application - GEMINI APP - (Free on Google Play) and blocks all autostart apps that are unnecessary.
And if you want a LAUNCHER (Beautiful, smooth, stable and with many visual settings) Use the - NEXT LAUNCHER! (The latest version) which is a cominacion of (SPB SHELL 3D - GO LAUNCHER EX and TFS SHELL)
With all that I have a 250 MB of free RAM! And optimal battery performance,
and the best gaming performance you can have on a Gingerbread rom,
Running GTA VICE CITY, WILD BLOOD, NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED, MODERN COMBAT 4 (without delay)
I hope I helped a friend!
regards
Personally i prefer the lite version.
actually im using doom kernel with this parameters max:1305 mhz min: 249mhz Scaling: ondemand
I can play VC with medium graphics and without lags.
Yeah those are the best roms for xperia play but im using the normal one
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
both are good for gaming. but with the normal nxt 1.3 you get more nxt Features. install the normal nxt 1.3
I wouldn't go with jellybean roms, I just got off one and I realizing how much I miss gingerbread.

For gaming?
Stock GB.
Nothing else comes close.
i went with the light edition myself. with doomkernel, overclocked. only problem i have with it is i can't have a 2nd partition on my memory card and use link2sd. an issue that has been brought up in the nxt thread and don't know if krisdee ever got around to fixing it. if anyone knows of a "light" GB rom like NXT light that supports 2nd partition/link2sd or a fix to make it work, please share. anyways, nxt light edition = smooth phone UI and great gaming experience!

Oh man , I really wouldn't do this! You got a 1.4ghz phone and oc to 1.6 is fully okay.
I warned you , you will be responsible when your phone doesn't want to start no more anyday.
UHD Rom hasn't so much increases than the Stock Rom , it got only small increases.
Try a Cyanogenmod 9 Rom , they are fast , and the batterylife is only WOAH!
CM9 is only avalible for unlocked bootloader.

Oh okay then this overclocking isn't soooo hard
Use CM9 , cause Arc/S handle Ice Cream Sandwich best.
CM10 is good too , but after 4-5 days it hangs over a gain!
Overclocking does not give you any noticeable performance boost, don't count on it. Better look, what is causing the lag in your phone.

ICS is very very very bad for gaming. Use Gingerbread, works best for games. JB might also do the deal, but still GB has best performance.

I think the problem maybe it's because you are using an old version of the rom... maybe if you try another rom like Bane of Speed or Gin2Kitkat that are more actual the problem of your lag maybe dissapear... the other thing maybe is your kernel... i found really fast the Lupus Gb-ICS v7, maybe if you try with diferent roms and kernels you can find the best one for you.
