[Q] Trident Case - Does it come off easily? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure if this should have gone in accessories or not.
Does the Trident Aegis back cover come off easily like the Otterbox case does? Or do both sides hold really well?
Thanks

I don't know, but the otterbox is really hard to take off for me because of the InvisibleSHIELD.

My criteria for a good phone case, help me find it.

-Fully protects the camera from the phone resting on it when you lay the phone on a hard flat surface face up.
-Fully protects the screen if you lay the phone face down on hard surface by having the case touch the surface and not the screen.
-Fits the phone snuggly and entirely and is stylish to boot
-Phone doesn't become a hassle to remove from your pocket because of the case material
-Case protects phone from dropping at average walking heights where you would be carrying the phone (4-5 feets) shock absorbent material
-Volume buttons and power button protected yet easy to push
I wouldn't mind buying a case that comes with a screen protector too, anyone know of any deals down this road?
What cases fit this criteria? I went to BestBuy today to check out what they had and I was very disappointed.
Recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thanks.
Trident Cyclops, Mine should be in today, I will let you know how it goes. There is a 30% off deal on slickdeals.net, just search for Evo 4g.

+1 for the Otterbox Commuter. It also has covers for the audio input on top and the HDMI / USB on bottom.

I got the splash CRUISER Slim-Fit PolyCarbonate Slider Case + Belt Clip Holster Combo for HTC EVO. It works pretty well. I would post a link but I'm not allowed to. It can be found on amazon.
Thanks for the help guys! I was looking at the Otterbox Commuter case on Amazon.com and the reviews are terrible for it, any idea why?

[Q] Do I get Ballistic HC or the Otterbox Defender?

I'm having a hard time deciding which case to get. I used to have a Seidio Innocase, but the rubber outside became too loose and stretchy for my liking.
Has anyone had both? What are your feelings on them? My main concerns are:
- sturdiness - will the case start falling apart/become loose like the Seidio one?
- size - i understand a little bulk comes with protection, but which one is the smaller case of the two? I want to be able to shove it in my pocket without too much work.
Anybody have a comparison on the two? I tried searching around, but couldn't find any comparisons of them.
I bought the Defender. Put it on my phone and took it off after 10 seconds. sold it on eBay. I've had the Otterbox Commuter which I loved, but yesterday I got the Trident Cyclops and it is awesome! The problem with the defender for me is the entire outside is silicone, i hate that. It doesnt seem like it would stay on the phone very well either. I'm considering purchasing the Ballistic as well just for fun, but the Trident Cyclops has very good protection. I can see it taking a very large drop no problem. I also just found out that they sell 10 different skins for the Cyclops, so you can dress it up all sorts of ways.
edit: post number 420 for me! woohooo
edit 2: oh dang, they also sell a holster for the Cyclops? man this case keeps getting better and better!
ballistic all the way
If you want maximum protection, then the Ballistic is the only way to go. Only thing is the Ballistic also adds the most bulk of any case out there. It's definitely NOT pocket friendly, especially with the outer silicone layer on it. Without the outer silicone layer, it's about the same as the other rugged cases.
When I first got my evo at radio shack the employee had the otterbox and I didn't like the feel or looks so I tried the ballisitic case and I have been happy with it.
I just got the Cyclops from Trident Got to say not complaints here
Trident Cyclops. I got the limited edition green (i doubt it's actually limited edition, but it matches my theme).
It's sturdy, it feels good, it adds a little more bulk than otterbox but less than defender and it protects well. Good stuff, plus they changed the packaging to where the PET protector the camera and LED lights are optional so no blue glow when you take pictures with flash.
100% I haven't taken it off since I got it except for battery pulls. I highly recommend it. Look up a review on youtube.
Holster
Can anyone tell me if the Ballistic HC will fit the Holster without the optional outer silicone cover. I ask because in the video on their web site they put it in the holster with the silicone cover on.
Otterbox shouldn't even be an option.
There are extremes only. Otterbox and Seidio are extremely bad in my experience. Ballistic and Trident are awesome.
to be honest the otterbox commuter series has been my favorite case i have ever had. it is pocket friendly because it has the hard plastic on the outside and silicone on the inside. I have had my otterbox for awhile and I love it. I have a lifted F-150 and have dropped my evo getting out of my truck several times. this is essentially dropping from about 5 and a half feet and my case has yet to be damaged let alone my phone. these drops have destroyed screens on other phones but it has been safe in my otterbox. the next biggest plus for me is that i never have any issues with getting the phone in and out of my pocket.

Yes, the holster is made to work with or without the outer silicone layer.

Ballistic
Awesome build quality
Kickstand snaps off but can be put back on(so far)
Outer layer is removable for varying degrees of protection
Beautiful
Tougher and pricier feeling materials
Otterbox
Feels very flimsy overall
Kickstand breaks off
Ugly
Materials don't feel as good as they do with the Otterbox for iPhone
I think I remember on their facebook page...Otterbox admitted that they used a completely different factory for the Evo...but that doesn't explain the poor design...just explains the huge downgrade in feel...possibly different(cheaper)plastics.
I ordered the ballistic case yesterday and I recommend u do the same

I feel your pain....i am in the same delima. I think either the otter or ballistic. I have a friend who has the otterbox defender, i like it. The outer shell seems a little cheesy when you take it on and off, but actually feels ok once you get it on and get the front part of the silicone shell into the front groves of the hard case. Wish I had a friend with ballistic. The only issue I see right now with the ballistic is the size and the holster, I can't find pics of it in the holster without the outer silicone shell on. I can't see who now but someone (i gave thanks) did reply and say the ballistic would work in the holster without silicone shell.
The trident hasn't got my interest yet, I continue to read......................
Yes it does fit in the holster without the outer silicone layer (I have one) The Ballistic Case is AMAZING!

Trident Aegis vs Otterbox Commuter case

Ok I like how the commuter case is somewhat slim and it maintains the original form factor of the phone giving it a lower profile but giving it great protection. I also like how the Aegis has more options for color although it looks a little thicker. Which one should i go for?
I like the defender personally
I have a commuter case I'm selling if your interested? Pm me for details

I have had the commuter for a couple of months and it is a great case. I've dropped my inc2 a couple of times with no ill effects. The only complaint I might have is that the headphone jack is a little recessed, so a 90 degree plug doesn't work too well, but a 45 and a straight plug work just fine. Pretty minor complaint.
I like that the seal of the case is enough that I don't get crap built up around the edge of the screen and in the ports like tends to happen with cheap cases.
I use an invisible shield brand screen protector (the only kind I will use - lifetime warranty and no bubbles! Harder to put on...).
If you look on Amazon, you can get the case for about 1/2 price or less, and the shield for the same amount. Including shipping, it came to less than 40 for my setup.
I use the commuter. Without any screen protector. I just love the feeling of the screen. Nothing getting in the way ya know? It is gorilla glass, but take your chances of your own accord.

I had a blue Aegis case I loved it at first then crap would always get behind the screen protector that the case has and then the corners started breaking and not clipping together anymore, I am back to zagg and cheap hybrid case this case I can't complain about http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-6350-IN...ccessories&hash=item1c1bcbd6b4#ht_1789wt_1037 I have mine in red is all. I just ordered a otterbox commuter though so I have high expectations for the otterbox. if not ill go back to my ebay hybrid case. it isn't rubbery it is hard inside but soft to touch on outside so it can slide on not snap together.

I am also tied between the Commuter and the Trident Aegis since my Incipio SILICRYLIC case broke..by looking at the Aegis pictures, it looks like it covers up the Notification LED for sure, and it looks close to the front-facing camera..Is this a problem for any of the owners?

Commuter
I bought the Otterbox Commuter from Newegg, and so far I like it. It slips out of your pocket really easily because the back is slippery, more slippery than the back of the phone in my opinion. I wish the silicon was tighter on the phone, but it is still tighter and a better case than my old incipio.
I wouldn't get the trident I just took mine off and threw it in the trash after busting 3 of the belt holsters and having to constantly put the thing back together. I ordered a seido off of amazon.
The Commuter felt too slippery for me. I always felt like my phone was going to slip out of my hands unless I used two hands.

Need case suggestions.

I've been looking through tons of case threads. I own the incipio that Verizon sells and the seidio active. Both great case but the incipio became tinted and gross and the seidio is a dust and dirt magnet and my phone ends up with dust inside the case and scratching the back a bit. I love how both these cases look (I have the white of both) I love the sizing and I love the hybrid design. I just need a bit of dust protection the Trident kraken looks nice but I'm afraid it will be gigantic and make my normal teenage use annoying. Anyone with suggestions chime in. If possible I'd love to see pictures of cases too.

Hard case with a holster or a belt clip (smaller than the Defender)

I am trying to find for a nice hard case, but for me the option to wear the phone on the belt is important. So I am looking for something slimmer than the Otterbox Defender but with more or less the same functionality. I saw a lot of hard cases around and still non offers the combination of a case and a belt clip (other than the Defender - I had it for a couple of days and it is fat to bulky for my taste)
So I am opened for suggestions - please share your information. Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I think you can try some metal case. But the finishing of the metal case on the market can be terrible. Don't try those case listed on EBAY. They are cheap but bad. Thick metal layer and poor finishing. Also they are not as hard as the metal you are used to know.

Thanks for the answer - in my opinion the metal cases do not provide the necessary protection - you need a soft plastic part to absorb the shock of a fall and a hard one to take the initial blow
And the hybrid cases provide really nice protection - but most of them are too bulky. And a belt clip is an important part as well
Here is a case that fits your description. Had one on my inspire for a while And liked it.

Thank you for the reply. Its a nice case, but I don't think it comes with a belt clip
The Seidio cases offer what you're looking for. If you don't like the Surface, the Active series would better suit your needs since has the softer cover and the harder shell as well as a holster. There's also a version that comes with a metal kickstand

It does have a holster, if you look around you will find it.
Edit: here check it out....

I had the same case for the s2. Ive been through 2 of them in a months time. The clip will snap off if there is any kind of a harder bump while clipped onto your belt. I would pass on it. Spend a little more money for a nicer case that wont break on ya right away.
Thank you all for the suggestions and comments. So I think I will go in the direction of Seidio - does anyone know the dimensions of the active and the surface cases?
How much bigger is the active case?
I was unable to find the dimensions on the web page
I use this holster http://www.niteize.com/product/Clip-Case-Cargo-Tall.asp and this case http://www.incipio.com/Samsung-Gala...ualPro-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp. The case is thin but protective and the holster is tough and protects the phone.

I had the Seidio surface from Best Buy but 1) It was very slick and would slip out of your hands 2) Didn't have a kickstand. I went with the Seidio active from Versio Mobile.Com and couldn't be happier. It is a 2 part case, isn't that much bigger, or heavier and has the kickstand. Also the entire phone is covered where as with the surface case it didn't. Additionally the cut out for the MICRO/MHL plug is bigger on the active which will enable you to use more charging cables. The hole on the surface case only allowed me to use the Samsung cable.
