It can only be done by a paid method. This is the site you need. http://unlock-bootloader.com/. It costs about $25.00. That site will provide the answers to all your questions.

So? I got my phone for free, and found it well worth the price to unlock it. The choice is yours, but freedom isn't free.

[Q] how to get ics on locked bootloader!??

Hey everyone,
i have a rooted xperia play r800i and i was wondering if there are some intructions on how to install ics on my phone with a locked bootloader?
thanks if you respond!!!
Short answer: you can't flash ICS with the bootloader locked.
Workaround: however some people say you can use the ICS rom of a Xperia Neo L because is basicly a Xperia Play without the gamepad, but with its rom the touchpads and the camera of the Xperia Play don't work.
You probably won't be able to get ICS on a locked bootoader (except maybe Neo L), because it requires a different kernel. To get a different kernel, you'll have to unlock your bootloader, but seeing as you have a R800i, it shouldn't be too difficult.
Just unlock your bootloader.

Use the TestPoint method then instead of the Official Method, you'll find all you need at the first link in my sig.
The official method is more reliable and i see better for newbies... I highly recommend you continue with the SONY method... Actually when i was it his lvl, test point confused me...

The TestPoint method is better as you retain DRM, and if a video tutorial is too hard to follow, then yes, perhaps the Official no more reliable or better method is the way to go.

800at successful ics?

love my phone. but it's almost 2 years old. my phone is stock but rooted and it runs excellent since i've cleared all the bloat.
i've got a build 3.0.1.b.0.270
android version 2.3.3
is there anyone happy with stock ics on their att play? if so, does everything work 100% (wifi, text messaging, internet)?
sorry for this newbie post to the experts but would appreciate help. thanks.
Atm there's no stock ics ics firmware... Most of them are modded roms from the original ics beta or ported from other devices... But first, UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER... If it's still locked you won't be able to flash any custom kernel or Rom...

To install ics you need to have your bootloader unlocked. Other than that your set to go with everything else.

thanks man. did you have any problems with wifi, internet, texting when changing to ics?
On Krisdees Sony ICS Beta everything works great battery life with lupus 720 p ICS +GB......unlocking your boot loader is your primary objective...IdK if your being a r800a makes things different...as I am r800i
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
R800a and R800i are the same thing, it doesn't matter which in one you have... unlock your bootloader via zergrush and i recommend you to try either the express rom or the markpython rom, both have NXT looks... if you wanna try something a little different, try de hybrid rom by krisdee...
Have to pay

As far as I know, you have to pay to have your bootloader unlocked if you have the r800at. I recommend Jinx13, I got it done in about 10 minutes.

CyanogenMod for XM with locked Bootloader?

Is there a possibility that some dev is planning to make a CyanogenMod for Xperia M that bootloader cannot be unlocked?
I am asking this because there are already available solutions for other (more popular I guess) devices.
Thanx

it's impossible, because you have to unlock BL in order to have the CWM...you must have CWM to flash cm11
