Is there a way how to start 3g wifi hotspot on my defy running CM7?
download 'wireless tether' from market, works like a charm
it does not support infrastructure mode!
isn't working...
Hi there
I'm using nightly 110722 CM7 and almost everything is working flawless... I just couldn't found the wireless tether that should be available.
So my question is, and I'm sorry if it's a dumb one, the "Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot" option isn't available for Defy, or this is a "feature" of my Defy with green lens?
On the stock rom I remember that was a 3G Hotspot app, but it never worked.
I had installed Wireless Tether and gave to it root permissions, the software tells me that it is working, but nobody can see or connect to my network.
Thanks.
Use "Barnacle Wifi Tether".
Tested and works fine(Ad hoc).

I had to use another custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156855) to make the the hotspot (infrastructure mode) working and I'm very happy with it.

Hello Theles!
To fix your hotspot app you have to set your apn settings correctly.
You can try APN Brasil (https://market.android.com/details?id=br.com.droidbrasil.apnbrasil&feature=search_result).
Then you have to set this parameter on the APN you're using:
APN Type: default,dun
I use wireless tethering from the market...ad hoc is fine for me since i just wanted to share for my ipad2 wifi
Hi
This is an old topic, I know. But now, the CM7 is offering Wireless and USB tether natively, under Wireless Network configurations.
I'm using the Nightly build 110822-1650 by Jordan and it's working like a charm, and, in infrastructure mode with WPA2, etc...
Thanks guys.
Ok, having a strange issue. Since I've installed CM9, my phone will not connect to the home Wi-Fi with my Blekin router, however, if I try and connect to my neighbors Linksyis router, it will connect right away.
My phone will also connect to my home router if I am using any other ROM...It's strange that any type of official CM9 nightly or KANG and my router wont play nice.
Any suggestions guys? Thanks for your help.

in your router..
did you fix the wifi yet?
i had the same issue with a aokp rom, u need to reset ur router... unplug re plug and then try... it worked for me 100%
I've tried all those things and still wont connect, but will connect right away to the neighbors linksys router....frikcin annoying and painful...i was really hoping to get this running
I would like to change maybe the security setting on my router, but am concerned about messing something up...I have the option to have WPS instead of WPA/WPA2,,,would that matter any?
Does anyone else have problems with wifi tethering? It seems to happen for me with any rom, currently though using JellySlim_FullPower [HSD Project 4].
My problem is I start the wifi tethering from my Xperia S, then on my Windows 7 PC I can connect no problem at all and usually it works fine - The problem then is if I try and connect to the same hotspot with another device at the same (Xperia T / Nexus 7 2013). Within minutes of more than one device been connected to my Xperia S wifi hotspot all the connections drop, then on Windows 7 I get the Limited Connectivity and yellow exclamation mark.
To keep it simple, wifi tethering seems to work when only one device is connected to the hotspot, but it seems having multiple devices connected causes the connection to lose internet.
Has anyone else experienced this, have a solution maybe? I am wondering if there is a setting to allow x amount of connections at once or something
Thanks.

The only thing I can do is connect phone to PC and use USB tethering for internet on PC, then to share with another device also use hotspot.
Again though, any more devices using the same hotspot drops all the connections. I cannot find a resolution.

Have you tryed with kitkat how tethering works?
Two months later and so many many wasted hours, looks like solution found! Luckyly by my self
Go to your pc wlan device properties and change from internet protocol verion propeties ip to automatic.

I have the same problem but after I bought dual band (2.4ghz and 5ghz) wireless router. Problem solved. Connet your Note 10.1 2014
to 5ghz wifi network, all Bluetooth devices using 2.4ghz frequency as well as you microwave oven and your cordless phone... it is abit crowded for video streaming.

I am using 4.4.2 stock KK.

But I still doesn't know what was the problem.
Hello,
I have problems with tethering by WIFI, USB working but BT not tried. It was working but one day my phone restarted while I was triying to connect with my laptop. After that i can enable tethering and in my phone it says it's on and seem ok, but the SSID is not showing in any device and i can connect even setting it up manually. It didn't show any error before restart so no idea what could it be.
Thanks in advance for any help.
