Question for those with a white 2000mah official extended battery
I received mine today from Amazon. and the top part of the new backing didn't clip into the phone. I've sent it back for a replacement. My question is, has anyone experienced this before or was I just unlucky and got a faulty cover? I have the I9100p (the NFC) model and was wondering if there is a compatibility issue?
Many thanks!
Hi,
Had exactly the same issue - I also have the 9100P and the back cover is slightly changed from the 9100 , the tabs on it are deeper and the extended back will not fit correctly.
I have yet to find an extended battery designed for the 9100P , ebay , amazon etc all sell the standard one. . .
I have also found that the phone does not fit well in all cases - again the back appears to be very slightly deeper??
Sorry cant be more helpful. .
All the best

thanks for the reply matey
looks like ill have to cancel the order for the extended battery
extended battery that makes the back of the phone flat without that curve?,i hear some have their clips at different positions, i dont know why samsung did this, i havent brought one due to this.
I bought the Andina battery 2000 maH and it works just as well as well as the Samsung and same size as original
I know there are a few people having problems with the fit of the new back cover for the extended battery but here's how i solved my problem.
I don't know about anyone else but my original battery cover actually fits although it is tight and there is a ridge in the back of the cover because of the thickness of the bigger battery. I got round this by using a nail file to file down the thicker plastic end caps at the top and bottom so they are flush with the thickness of the actual battery body i also rounded off the sharp edges. it doesn't give you much maybe just 1mm but it's enough to get a decent fit.
i hope i've explained that ok

Hold the battery side on you can see the top and the bottom plastic ends are just a little thicker than the battery body, they are the places to file but don't go mad. You'll only get about a millimeter but it's all you need. I've done it on my black i9100 and my daughters white one although the black battery cover is a little more flexible and easier to get on.
I have a similar problem with the black extended battery back cover I bought for my Orange I9100P. I got it from Amazon UK and I got a Korean NFC battery but the back cover from the UK battery just doesn’t snap in properly.
The bottom left just won’t snap in for some reason. The strange thing is that my mother has a SG2 from O2 the I9100 version and it fits perfectly into that phone. Is there a difference between the two models or is it a manufacturing fault with my phone? Should I send it back to Amazon for a replacement or should I be sending the phone back?
I have two pictures with the back cover on my phone, one with me pressing it down and the other with it loose but I'm not allowed to link to URLs yet. So if you want to see them go to imgur with this after the .com a/kaflG
this is the same as me it wont snap on right, i have even shaved the bits on the back off and still wont fit in right or the bottom left to.
i tried bending it a bit as well with still same of not fitting in right
I have i9100 and my girlfriend the i9100p.
I use the official extended battery and it stays on but not perfect. It does not fully snap on at the top.
It will not stay on at all on i9100p so I don't think there is a fault at all here it just seems that the p is slightly different for some reason and the back covers provided with the larger battery are just not that well made.

I bought mine @Amazon.
Fits just perfect

I may be wrong but I heard that the battery of the i9100p hosts the antenna of the NFC. Hence the different size with the i9100.
So, appart from your problem, changing the battery will mean that your NFC won't work anymore.

Just wondering if anyone heard any word on if we'll be able to use all our accessories from the X with the X2? I am particularly interested in know if the case's, extended battery, and cardock will work. They appear to be very close in physical size.
The DX2 has almost exactly the same form factor as the DX. That means all cases and car docks will fit and just try the battery and see what happens, worst thing that could happen is it not boot
hey just wanted to let you know that i have a DX2 and yes everything from the DX fits the same.

Is the battery door exactly the same? I curious because if I get the DX2 I wanna get the powermat door.
All of the accessories will work, including the extended battery. Actually, the stock battery door is "ever so slightly" more outward than the original X door. With a "very" minor tweak to the door legs using some needle-nose pliers, I'm able to use my extended battery from my original X without having to use the extended battery door, and there isn't the pressure on the phone that the original X had when doing that (that caused the screen distortion problems). The door stays locked firm, but doesn't require any real force to open or close it that would cause worry about the battery being squeezed in too much. So now I have a stock looking X2 with the extended battery.
All the accessories work, but the battery covers do not match in color. I just purchased the extended battery, and the door on the X2 is black (like the rest of the phone) But the extended battery door is more grey. Im assuming the original X was this color. Hope they make a new door that matches the X2 Black Color

No need for it. Just *ever so slightly* bend the door arms outward.. we're talking like 1/4 of a millimeter, they *barely* need an adjustment. Then you can use the stock door with the extended battery. The stock door on the DX2 is slightly more outward than the stock DX1 door, so with the extra little help there isn't any pressure problems on the battery.

Good to know. For 30 seconds of my time, I'm running the stock cover with the exact same battery that they're selling now, without the extra hump, and for no extra money. Been a week now, still no screen problems. That little bit of extra room in the X2 stock cover, plus the little bit of leg coaxing, has given me a stock DX2 with the extra bit of juice. One of the few things I've liked about the DX2.
Not sure if this deal is still available but BGR reported a couple of days ago that for the DX2's launch week, the Droid X/X2 Essentials Pack (multimedia dock, car dock, car charger, longer wall charger, and HDMI cable) was available for $19.97 online. Purchased separately, those accesories would run you $145, so it's a pretty good deal for current DX owners. I ordered one and it's getting delivered today. Just an FYI for DX owners looking to save a buck or 125. :-D
I also ordered this and received it last week, fantastic deal, I already had a cardock so now I have one for each of my vehicles.
Hi Fellow Gs2 Owners,
I am starting this thread for owners of the white GS2 i9100 models who have purchased the 2000mah battery kit.
I just received mine today and noticed the top left hand side (volume button) side of the cover does not quite snap in very well.
Quite an annoyance if you intend to not use any other covers like myself.
On examining the moulding and comparing it to the original back cover, I can see the notch that would normally click into place is not well pronounced (as the original)
Appreciate if all white model owners respond as I would like to see how many are affected.
With this I hope get a Samsung rep to investigate.
Also please advise your location and place of purchase ie shop at ur locality or overseas ebay?
I'll start with me.

thank you,

You got NFC version too, didn't you?

Hello,
My friend i'm afraid you bought the wrong version. Consider the following:
1. Either you have the International version (GT-i9100) and bought the NFC version which will not fit or
2. You have some other variant (many out there ) and purchased this "Genuine Samsung EB-K1A2EBEGSTD 2000mAh Battery w Back Cover Galaxy S2 SII i9100" which is for the GT-I9100
Since you're from down under I think the first one "fits your case". I have the GT-I9100 and made the same mistake by getting the NFC version
Some screenshots and further details about your phone could help speed things up..worst case you'll have to get the correct version..like I've had to..and I'm loving it!!
PS: The battery fits, just not the back cover...so let me know if you manage to get one!
1. I have the i9100T
2. The kit I purchased is EB-K1A2EWEGSTD (the W referencing white model)
I dont see how this it the incorrect kit as it does fit but does not snap in firmly.
Is this the same issue you had?
Mines the same way. Top left (volume side) doesn't snap in correctly :banghead:
Ya same, many of us have confirmed the same. It's a manufacturing defect.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I have two different version; one from Korea (SKT/KT) and one from HK.
EB-K1A2EWSG (Korea)
- NFC battery
- The battery cover does not fit at all. All the side clips are on different location
EB-K1A2EWEGSTD (HK)
- Non-NFC battery
- This one fits fine with my GT-i9100m (Bell) version, but there's slight gap on right corner as reported here.
I also think the screen on white is different than the black. I checked several different blacks and whites SGSII's from the store and my friends unit. The white one is little off compare to black. I personally think the screen on black unit looks better than the white.
I'm with Bell and have the same (i9100m), my cover doesn't fit either. (top right hand corner does not sit properly - volume side)
Its kind of a pain... but as long as I use a case its held on pretty well.

which case are you using? I'm using SGP Neo Hybrid EX. So it exposes the back cover.
Same here. I found that it seems to sit a bit better after a while (a few days maybe) and it's unlikely to fall off ;-)
Same here. I think all white extended battery has this defect
Great, how have to sell?
My white battery cover fits fine on my i9100. No idea what you guys are talking about. You guys get the NFC battery?
Mine does it, definitely bought the right one. Got mine off the mobilefun website.

I have the black version and same thing. The top right area near the volume buttons (right below the notch where you'd pull the cover off) is buldging a bit like it won't sit flush. It looks like the tab is not grabbing on to the cover.
Its not just the white cover.
I have the black I9100 international non-NFC model. The battery kit is model # EK-K1A2EBEGSTD
Update: I noticed that the entire right side nothing is actually grabbing on to the phone! Its only the left side and the top that has EFFECTIVE tabs! It's the same on the original batter cover!
What a ****ty design. The entire right side is not secured by anything! Its a wonder how the original fitted on without creaking!
hello,
bought my 2000mah kit on amazon, germany.
First kit was bad, so I send back and bought a second kit. Battery Cover is bad again.
Amazon says no support for that, only way is sending back.

I got my non-NFC white battery off mobilefun and it's fine for me. Good luck!
Here's my fix:
Take a hair blow dryer and heat up the problem area of the battery cover (better take it off the phone, first!).
When it got nice and hot, gently bend/shape the problem area inwards. I held mine for a minute or so in the bent shape. After letting it go, it should look normal still.
Pop it back in, and it got a bit better for me.
I did it again a few times, and it made a huge difference! The creak is gone, and it's nearly flush! There is still some give, but it's much better than before.
Hope it helps someone. If it does, please hit the Thanks button.

This totally worked for me! it also no longer makes the popping noise either
nice idea, well done.
I bought one battery kit and RMA'd it. The replacement also creaks by the area with a notch.
Anyone else have this issue? My standard battery cover is ok.

Hey,
there has been some like these for other phones but I'm wondering if there is a metal/aluminium battery case for the note.
I don't mean a case that goes around the phone, no.. I mean that we remove the original galaxy note battery cover and place a (brushed?) metal cover in there. Would look and feel good I believe
It has been awhile since this has been discussed here, so here you go:
ebay
amazon
dealextreme
A couple of interesting parts and pieces here, after doing a google shopping search...but not so sure of the shop's reputation: papadigitals
Thanks, hadn't seen those in the forums and couldn't find by searching
Your phone signal will get degraded. Even a shell made of metal does that, unfortunately. Weaker signals mean more battery used, too.
Hopefully the "big"ness of the phone can compensate
I've ordered one a few days ago, lets see what happens what it arrives. I will write a short reply about its performance on my battery and signal
I ordered one two, about one month ago on dealextreme.
But eager to read you review!!!
Seriously?..
jerome is correct, what matters is where the antenna is, which is right underneath the battery cover..
This is a bad idea of the first kind..

Hello,
just seen:
Anymode crocodile leather cover, replacing the oem cover.

Hermès leather quality and quite expensive.
Approx. 270 US $.
I like it in matt khaki.
Would compliment the Hermès Birkin Croco Bag of my wife.

I have had this on my phone for about 2 months now. no issues with signal that I can tell.. the phone works perfectly.
there is a tiny rubber edge to the cover which does it make the phone a little larger than the stock cover. by about 2mm.
I got a few and figured that it is cheaper than a case, and keeps the phone small.
the only issue for me, which is only slight- is that the pen is a little tricky to get out. no biggie though!
I got the cover today, will post comparing battery graphs and signal strength comparison on different locations
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
the civet definitely effects signal, but it dips from 94dBm to 97 at home
Outside in the open changes are 70 to 76..
Change is minimal in my opinion, it's not like my phone becomes blind with no signal.
A positive side is, it chills the phone insanely well. I normally get to 55celcius when gaming so I Stop to let it cool, hasn't happened with this cover yet. It conducts heat very well.
So I am very happy with this battery cover

Is the one I got, I do notice that it is very easy to scratch because it has lines graved into it. So if you put it roughly onto a rough surface you will surely see the marks
I havent seen issues with the signal yet , but yes the device heats up to 55 degrees which never happened before,. So heating is definitely an issue ....
Btw , i havent put the back cover , i have installed this directly over the back , hope thats not an issue , any insights on that ?

I have had mine for several months. I didn't notice any performance degradation, but the back of the cover is scratched like crazy. All four corners just from setting it down and sliding a wee bit. I removed it and put the original back on. All it is, is a metal paint on a plastic cover. It's cheap really.

Hi all,
I just scored a used Galaxy Nexus, Sprint version, on eBay. It seems to be in good working condition, however the battery cover is not flush against the battery. There's actually enough space there that when I shake the phone, the battery shifts up and down in its housing, clicking against the cover. Is this normal with this model, or should I quickly take advantage of the 14 day return period?
Definitely return. NOT normal.
I would GUESS you have a standard battery with a cover for an extended battery
After Googling around a bit and looking at photos of batteries, it looks like my battery may have been switched in from a different Samsung phone, possibly a Galaxy S II. I suppose I could order a Galaxy Nexus battery and hope for the best, but I think I'm going with the return option. Better luck next time, I guess.
Pics of this? I didn't know gs2 batteries fit

On further examination, I think you're right. Someone helpfully posted a serious of comparison photos on the Amazon listing for the Verizon extended battery/cover combo, and the extended cover looks pretty much like mine. Now the question is do I return the phone (since standard covers don't seem to be available anywhere), or suck it up and buy a bigger (heavier) battery for this one?

Personally, I use both the stock and extended Verizon battery, but I only keep the cover of the extended battery on me. Not once have I had an issue with the smaller battery shifting out of place. I'd say you keep it if there isn't anything wrong with the phone and even ask the seller if they happen to have the stock cover lying around anywhere.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
If indeed you have the stock battery with the extended cover and don't wish to buy anything extra (although i would recommend getting the extended battery for longevity reasons aswell as fit) you could opt for the primitive fix: tape a piece of paper to the inside of the cover to hold it tighter.
