yesterday i recieved a new firmware update for my galaxy w.but after the update it is still android 2.3.6.but base band version changed to i8150xxlc1 and build number jplc1.i dont see any visible changes after the update.can anyone explain for what that update is?
There's some report that says it fixed sending message problem . Some Galaxy W users that experienced that were keep failing on sending messages (in 2.3.5) .
As for me, before i rooted my phone, 2.3.6 fixed my brightness bug, random restart and battery life .
i dont know the full changelog for this 2.3.6 change, but those fixes i experienced are probably just what you asked for, although my base band version is not the same with yours .

It was blinking brightness .
I always set my phone brightness to around 10% and less . But sometimes when i unlocked my phone, the display brightness was blinking once/twice .
It was like setting the brightness to 0, then 100%, then back to my usual settings .
At first i thought is the auto brightness, but then i saw there's no auto brightness setting, and the blinking became more often .

I got my update 4 hours ago.screen flickering is gone .thanks htc
what kind of flickering did you guys have?
most of us (not in australia) still have some flickering. I personally have it on light grey colors only and im running the asian 1.28 wwe firmware/ruu
My flickering happens when I touch the screen in google+ app "I touch the screen, it flickers once, then again" it also flickers in some apps when i press the keyboard, the whole screen flickers, it has to be software related! Its not a constant flicker, just when i touch the screen and it only hapens in some apps! Such as google+. Facebook is fine.
I have 1.28 update.
yea that flicker is software related and certain apps
Go into settings, power, battery use, and click on the battery graph and expand it.
Look at the grey and see if it flickers (strobe light effect). Turn the brightness up also when you do this.

Very slight!
But my laptop flickers on http://livescores.com/ background.
That must just be something to do with the frequency!! Don't think anything can be doe about that.
Hello all,
when my battery on Galaxy W is low then brightness COMPLETELY turns OFF. Is there any chance to turn this off?
disable save mode
setting -> save mode -> disable save mode

Thanks for a reply BUT "Safe mode" is already OFF Any suggestion?
install some 3rd party brightness app.. auto brightness it.. then turn off the auto brightness
I have tried "Brightness Level" but when battery is low then this is not working (selecting e.g. 75% brightness does nothing)
ok hands up.. what ROM do you use now? reflashing must be work
I'm using official firmware (it is company's phone not mine so I don't wanna break warranty) I8150XXLM6 (2.3.6). BTW it is new phone (not used so it is clear like after hard-reset).

Just press statusbar for 3 seconds and then swap it right. It will change screen brightness even when your battery is low.

Root the phone (you can always easily unroot it), then install AutoStarts. Grant it SuperUser privileges.
Under "Settings" app, you can see entries with "(Power Save Mode)"; disable any one of the entries, the other entries will automatically get disabled, too.
Restart.
Done.

Gra3m,
When my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" updated to 4.1.1 I didn't catch it at first but when my brightness got below ~15% the brightness indicator became grayed out and fixed on some ridiculously low setting.

Afternoon Gents,
Elephone have posted another 7.1.1 stock rom for this unit dated the 14.08.17
http://www.elephone.hk/downloads
Fixes?
* This one looks like it fixes the severe battery drain as the unit now correctly powers the screen down when in standby.
* Time for first GPS fix is greatly improved.
* 5th July Android Security Patch.
Basically we're back to the stability of the late 6.0 builds with faster GPS.
Here's the annoying part
I've been in discussions with Elephone via FB and email to their Engineers. They are insistant that this update has been released OTA on Mon 21st, BUT my phone never got it. I've done repeated checks on multiple fibre, VDSL and VPN connections and it either returns no connection or Device up to date I've had to manually flash the scatter file from their website then flash the phone, which obviously completely resets everything.
Hi, on Monday 21, i have receive this update.
Before this, no problem for me with my S7 4/64 on Android 7.1.1...
Now, after update : very big battery drain, and zero notification , exept SMS ( no notification of games, app ....)
So there is a big problem
Have you done a factory reset. I have had similar issues after an OTA, especially with the fingerprint scanner. A full reset fixed it.
Factory reset done , so :
- Battery drain : the same after reset
- Notification : sometimes it work, sometime no ????
- LED notification : OK
- Charging : return of the sound when connect / disconnect charger OK now

Hmmm. Interesting. I have an S7 64/4 and on the latest update:
* Battery drain is significantly reducced. Previously this was caused by the screen not turning off when going into standby leading to rapid battery drain. My screen now goes completely off after 30 seconds and I get about 36-48 hours on a charge.
* LED notification is fixed, although the colours marked in the menu are wrong. I think there are 7 colours in the menu but only 3 work.
* Charging sound functions normally.
Did you use the OTA? What happens when you use the upgrade on the website? I wonder if they may be differennt somehow.

Oh well. If it works for you, that's the main thing. Mine was horrible on the May release.
Are you using the Elephone cover with the window in the front?
I'm using the silicone cover sold with the phone.
Why this question .

The extra cover you can buy with the window in it works with the Hall sensor in the phone to turn the display to the clock then off. In the May/June firmware, this process wasn't working, the screen always stayed on leading to terrible battery drain

It's not only that the screen is always on but the CPU scheduler for the device is badly optimized.
It won't properly shut down the performance cores or multimedia cores when using phone only for simple stuff like reading web, watching youtube or sms.
Plus when the phone goes to sleep, all cores are on at 1GHz randomly.

Hello All,
I want to buy note 5 AI phone but when I tested it, I noticed at 0% brightness makes the phone completely dark and couldn't be seen even at 40% brightness and even at night !!!!
Also at 100% brightness with sunlight, the screen is hardly being seen
This problem is noticed with many devices of note 5 AI and I'm confused about buying this phone for this disadvantage, Is it hardware issue or software issue, If it's software issue, Is MIUI 10 or any update could solve this problem or not ???
Thank you all in advance

Are you sure Adaptive brightness is turned off ? if not go search brightness in the settings then turn off adaptive brightness.
Also is it worth upgrading to Android 10, performance wise ? cause I'm using pie but I'm scared that my phone might lag on games with android 10
Yes, Adaptive brightness is turned off
Where can I download Android 9 official rom?
I don't want a root image
