Hello all,
when my battery on Galaxy W is low then brightness COMPLETELY turns OFF. Is there any chance to turn this off?
disable save mode
setting -> save mode -> disable save mode

Thanks for a reply BUT "Safe mode" is already OFF Any suggestion?
install some 3rd party brightness app.. auto brightness it.. then turn off the auto brightness
I have tried "Brightness Level" but when battery is low then this is not working (selecting e.g. 75% brightness does nothing)
ok hands up.. what ROM do you use now? reflashing must be work
I'm using official firmware (it is company's phone not mine so I don't wanna break warranty) I8150XXLM6 (2.3.6). BTW it is new phone (not used so it is clear like after hard-reset).

Just press statusbar for 3 seconds and then swap it right. It will change screen brightness even when your battery is low.

Root the phone (you can always easily unroot it), then install AutoStarts. Grant it SuperUser privileges.
Under "Settings" app, you can see entries with "(Power Save Mode)"; disable any one of the entries, the other entries will automatically get disabled, too.
Restart.
Done.

Gra3m,
When my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" updated to 4.1.1 I didn't catch it at first but when my brightness got below ~15% the brightness indicator became grayed out and fixed on some ridiculously low setting.

Right now if the battery level is below certain point, the brightness setting and stand-by time setting get automatically set by the system, and cannot be changed.
I don't know what app or what part of the system is doing this for me automatically. I unchecked "power saving mode" and still.
This is very frustrating. I understand the phone may THINK it's helping me save battery but in fact the brightness I want and I usually set is even LOWER than the auto value the phone sets for me. And besides, I don't like the idea that MY phone is being controlled by someone/something else and I don't have an option to disable that something.
Someone please shed some light?
Edit:
Note that this is NOT the "power saving mode". I disabled "power saving mode" and still this problem.

I don't know the number right now. I'll keep an eye on phone as the battery drops and let you guys know the exact threshold that triggers this.
If it's some system app that's doing this, I have no problem freezing it using Titanium Backup just like how I freezed "Tethering Manager" to enable wifi hotspot and I freezed "My Account" so that 3G doesn't come on when wifi is connected.
Just don't know which app it is...
have you flash other roms to see if it go away? i think jug 2.0 take away this problem
And the even more ridiculous thing about it is that it auto sets the stand-by time to 30 seconds, and after I charge the battery to above the threshold it doesn't change the stand-by time back to where you set it! You have to change it back yourself.
Did you try a master reset and see if that fixed it?
No guys its like builtin in alot of roms with out apps... Its the system

For me there is a "power savings mode" right in the settings menu that does what you describe. Granted I'm not on stock ROM, but I think it was there with the Telus ROM too.

This isnt power saving mode causing this. Power saving mode is turned off and this still happens to me once my battery hits like 10%. This is built into the rom somewhere and the vibrant had the same thing. One of the devs for the vibrant was able to disable this setting in their rom so maybe the devs can do the same here. Again this is not power saving mode which can be set at certain levels that you would like.

Yeah once it reach 5%, the autobrightness become very bright and doesn't change..I have tested it on all ROM..and it's not the powersaving..I think it drain the battery really fast to help mentation the health of the battery..just guessing though..and stock ROM is more sensitive than jnault ROM..

You guys are right. It's not the power saving mode. This happens even when I turn OFF my power saving mode. It's something else in the system that's doing this, and yes, the auto brightness the system sets is even brighter than what I previously set myself. So, what a useful feature!
mine does the right thing, opposite of what your phones are doing. im guessing at about 5% battery life, the display sets itself pretty close to the lowest (if not the lowest) brightness setting, even with my power saving mode option unchecked. i wonder if the auto adjust screen power has something to do with it, since i got that checked all the time. but maybe not. im running on beastmod 1.0 rom.
[ ONLY FLASHING A NEW KERNEL WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY ]
Try this only when you don't want to flash new kernel.
Requirememt: Rooted device
Install Xposed installer and android tuner. Tick the check box for android tuner in Xposed installer/modules. Reboot the device to activate the module.
Now open android tuner and click on switch to expert mode. You will see 4x4 grid menu. Click on startups. You can see 3 tabs in the bottom. Press the middle tab to toggle between System, User and All. Uncheck all unwanted programs you don't want to run during startup.
Now go back to main grid menu. Click on CPU icon, Under the CPU tab see the sleep time in the right lower corner below temperature. If it shows n/a your device is not going in to sleep when display is off. It is the major battery drainer.
Now click on the Gov. (See it on left side of same page). Click yes on pop up window.
Slide upper bar to max and lower bar to minimum in both cores. And select both governors to powersave. Don't mind if it changes automatically later.
Right Side to upper governor: toggle to 'on'
Right Side to lower governor: toggle to 'online'.
Don't mind if it changes automatically later.
Now click GPU tab* and toggle apply on boot to on. Select Ondemand. Slide the bar to max.
Note: If you want to save more juice at the cost of performance avoid sliding the bar to max in the above scenarios, instead slide to left. The more you slide left to decrease clock speed, the more you save power but at the cost of performance.
Now click on Governors tab. Select powersave.
Then click on Thermal tab.* Toggle both to 'on'.
Now go back to main grid menu. Click on System Mgr. Under one-click tab toggle all options to 'on' wherever possible. Don't mind if it changes automatically later or if it is not possible.
Now go back to main grid menu and click on App Mgr. Under the perms tab you can change the permissions to apps. you can do this in leisure.
Apart from this make the tweaks discussed in other threads like disabling location access, auto sync etc. Enable power save, disable smart stay in drop down notification. Remove key sounds and Vibrations. display time out to 30 seconds. Tweek Google settings (grey icon) in main menu. Greenify or freeze apps with titanium backup or android tuner, which are unduly running (look in main settings/application manager/running to find them out).
You can verify whether the device is going in to sleep or not, in android tuner app, Under CPU tab as mentioned above ie. In the right lower corner below temperature. If it shows time instead of 'n/a', your device is able to sleep.
Feedback awaited.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damage that is caused by this method. I can only make this much clarity for now.
If any fault found corrections are welcome.
hi drnag.
just saw your post and activated the settings immediately. i'll report my results soon... but the first thing i saw is that the cpu goes to sleep now.
i'm curious about the result.

hi again.
wow... after approx. one hour the battery consumption went down to 1.4% per hour at the moment.
thats much better than 5-6%.
But it seems that the device disconnects completely from wlan and data connection during sleep. So Emails will be fetched only after turning the device on - is that the same at your phone?
thanks again.
axel
Yes, you did it right. Nice to see the first reply from you. You will see dramatic improvement in battery life. If you want wifi or data 'on' when the display is off, go to Android tuner/grid menu/System Mgr/one-click tab. There you disable Screen off battery saver. Hope you are happy now. Tell me how many hours did it last for you after moderate usage.

Good day all,
Im from Portugal and i bought a S4 mini GT-i9195 JB 4.2.2 from carrier Vodafone, the phone worked nicely and smooth but the battery drained very quickly (seems a general issue), well i tried the first post, followed all the steps and everything worked nicely, battery last alot longer now, but i started to see some issues that before didnt happen, so here they are :
- I notice some lag when open the phone menu to make a call, or open contacts, or any other menu.
- Sometimes the lock screen stays black, need to push power button and again to display the lock screen correctly
- Sometimes again the lock screen doesnt display the keypad to input the unlock pin
- Today the phone was sleeping i pushed the power button to wake up but didnt, so i needed to remove battery and power on the phone again to work again.
- An app stopped working, doesnt run at all, its Themer, app that themes the phone interface, seems its the only one by now
Hope you guys can help , the phone is rooted but all the issues above only started to happen after i did the first post.
Thanks and l8r

Backup your apps with titanium backup. Backup contacts. Do factory reset. This is ultimate if settings don't work or cause problems.

Let me preface this by saying, I've searched the forums. There are topics on this for other phones, but I didn't see one for the Galaxy Note 4. I'm thinking settings are different on each phone, and to an extent, each carrier as well.
Also, I have the NEXT launcher installed on my phone, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Basically, when using my phone, my phone will go dim at 5%, like others have reported on other phones. It has nothing to do with power saving mode, because that's off. I've checked. Is there a way I can prevent screen dimming at 5%?
I do not believe this is possible without a ROM.

In Marshmallow we had the enable LED option under Settings -> Screen, on Nougat this option is not there anymore, Light Flow with Normal/Direct/ROOT mode doesn't work too..
Does anyone knows an easy way tô enable the LED?
Since Marshmallow I've been enabling Miracast with a simple line on build.prop, hopefully there is another for enabling the LED.
Thanks.

I noticed this on one of my apps when I set the phone down for a few hours like overnight, no light and no sound. I woke up this AM and seen no notification light and then as soon as i pressed the power button to wake up the screen the notification sound played. defiantly a bug, not sure if its with one specific app or across the board. I have yet to get a late night call, as far as I know.

It should not matter if it was charging or not, I'm trying to understand where you are going with this?
The app functions perfectly until the phone is left alone for several hours then it will never notify, no light, no sound, nothing until I hit the power button., then the sound played no light obviously.
I am tempted to start a thread on this shortly, but I need to see if other apps behave the same way.

I know there is that option, however I did not have to preform this in 6.0.1 for any app, so that's why I am wondering whats up and if that will make a difference or not. I do know that apps with GCS can automatically bypass this from what I read, but that has to be written into the app. I will continue to experiment with seeing what apps do it or do not do it without messing around with turning off optimization for any app like with 6.0.1 . Either this version of doze is overly aggressive or its a bug

From my understanding/experience, Doze is significantly more aggressive now than it was in 6. Which is great for battery life, but annoying when you're watching TV and expecting an email or some such.
The charging comment in my other post was due to the understanding that doze is disabled while charging; if you charge over night everything should come in normally, but if you just leave the phone down then it will not.

I thought that might be what you might be getting at .
If doze is more aggressive, i think it is overly aggressive to the point where sometime within an hour of setting your phone down it will only alert for calls/text messages, nothing else, then if the text come in early enough in the light the notification light will completely stop by the time you wake up. I am just not too happy about how overly aggressive this is as like you stated expecting someone to contact you in some way you are SOL. I don't think one should have to go through every single app to set it manually, that is pointless IMO
I have re flashed my system partition since the factory images came out a few hours ago so maybe(not) that could help but I am not optimistic.
Thanks for clearing that up

Doze does not completely kill the services. It just adds more and more delay to its syncing, so even if doze is working aggressively, the notifications should be delayed (like by some seconds or minutes), not completely disabled. The case you are stating doesn't seems normal. I don't know if the apps need to be updated.

So, at least in my case, I solved this issue with the notification light. I went into Settings --> System UI Tuner --> Other --> Power Notification Controls --> and turned them on. Then, Settings --> Notifications --> Touchdown (the app that was giving me problems) --> and changed the notification level from Auto to Level 4 (one down from the top).
Since then, the notification light works as expected.

I just got my mate 20 comeing from a mate 9 and there are a few niggly bugs to iron out.
1. screen brightness keeps reverting to auto
2. notification sound for apps like ebay and amzon not working (i think this was an oreo issue and now a pie issue. could even be app devlopers not optimising apps yet)
3. no random wallpaper option for this phone. dont want to use a third party app.
4. not easy to set custom sound options for individual apps
will list more as i find them
Anyone found any others?
The widgets were frozen once. I needed to change the screen resolution to bring it back to life.
Favorites contacts eratic when sorting, sort will not always stick, but it was the same with previous EMUI on my Mate 9.
For the auto brightness I think AI and energie saver do that on purpose. Got the same.
I got random wallpaper on lock screen.
Really, I love this phone!

I'm finding that my accessibility services keep getting turned off. I turn on services like Lastpass Autofill and Greenify automated hibernation, but they turn themselves off sometime later for no reason.
For the auto brightness reset issue, it always happen to me after a software update, but not at random
I'm also trying to play Drastic DS Emulator with Google Drive cloud sync to backup my saves, but the sync function is broken on this phone. It says nothing needs to be synced, when I upload it sends a 0 Byte file to my drive. EDIT: I think I fixed the problem, my WiFi was too slow. After deleting the data on Drive and reuploading the save file it worked
4 notification option is a lot harder to set due to Android9. My Note9 on Android9 is quite similar.

You can fix the brightness issue with adb removing the power genius application, this also fixed the auto dimming in manual mode. It also fixed an issue with background colour being a little gradient on a few apps.

Non root, the only thing that's missing is the software usage in battery usage, the hardware usage is there. But you can see the app usage from the app settings.
I have noticed that the phone stays in optimised performance, I was having a issue with background on Huawei video and YouTube where after playing a video it was gradiented shades of the colour, this is fixed now. Also Google photos used to take a second to load in but now they load straight up.
I get about 8.5 to 9 hr screen on time that was with YouTube and Facebook which drains the battery a bit.
It's always possible to restore the genie app with a hard reset. The power genie is a supposed to help battery but is more annoying than anything though.

I also noticed small bug in the short weekend I had the device: I have the option to turn on the screen at each notification (because of the pretty small notification LED). On 2 occasions I had the screen turn on with a notification, then turn off briefly and turn back on with a black background and just the digital clock. I have the screensaver deactivated and pressing the unlock button fixes the bug.
I have issues with continuously disconnecting my Xiaomi Amazfit Bip smartwatch. I had LG G6 and never had this kind of issue. I tried to set Auto-launch , Secondary-launch and Run in background options for Mi Fit app on but to no avail. This makes my smartwatch half useless.

I just received my Mate 20 Lite and I'm having the same problem with my Samsung Gear S3 randomly disconnecting from the phone - which is annoying for so many reasons, not least because I am used to the watch unlocking my Galaxy S7.
I'm guessing that the BT is simply timing out to save battery but is there anyone who can confirm this and also is there a way to fix it?
