hey guys
so i droped my phone and now it shows sony logo then a white screen

or did i break something

I don't think LCD cable is loose because you clearly said that first it shows SONY logo so displaying is fine
I think you did some damage inside the phone

but some times the screen comes on

I think it's going to need to be sent in for repairs. Hopefully it's still under warranty or you have insurance, and it's not rooted or customized.

sony arc screen went blank!

hi i have a sony arc
last night out of no where my screen went blank.
at first it wouldnt come out of sleep mode screen wise stayed black.
phone was still functioning i could feel the vibration on the screen lock.
turned the phone off and on and everything was fine.
then the next day again it happened and now its completely blank.
i can see the screen is clearly on.
i tired wiping the phone with flashtool thinking its a software issue and still nothing.
tied the new software update with pc companion and same again.
at no point was it water damaged, this literally happened out of the blue.
anyone now what may be wrong?
thanks
Nothing at all dont show up?
Remove battery and plug charger?
Usb?
If nothing....seems hardware problem.

thanks for the reply
connecting via usb is fine as normal. literally the phone seems to work just the screen stays in that dim light you see before the sony logo comes on on boot up.
its looking like hardware failure .
ill have to go in get it checked, if it is that ill bin it as i no longer have the receipt or insurance .
its to big a risk to take for an expensive phone to buy this model again.
tut.
Sound like somekind problem with display backlights....
But how about buttons light?

i dropped it into a place they said it doesnt look like its the screen on close inspection , some issue underneath it as you said maybe the backlight, but if it is the screen then its not going to be cheap they said
Why would u need a receipt, se offer a 2 year warranty and the phone hasn't been out 2 years

so i could go into a sony shop and ask for it to be fixed for free?
Go to service center and take your warranty, it will be free unless if you have unlocked bootloader.

Broken screen or what?

A relative of mine also owns a G2 but recently they experienced a weird issue. They just picked up the phone just to see that the screen went bad. Wasn't in the process of flashing anything. The phone ran CM7.0.2 for the longest time. It was all black with a white line running across the screen and the capacitive buttons are stilll lit. After a week or so, the white line disappeared and its just a black screen now.
There's no water damage as it went nowhere near water and the water damage indicator is still white. Could the screen be broken? A loose connector? Any help?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
I don't know much about the g2 but try and enter the bootloaders. If they come up then its programming. Something like that happened to my hd2 cuz a bad flash.
If they don't then its prob the screen.

You think just ordering a new screen from Amazon or eBay and replacing it will do trick? And yeah I just thought about bootloader as I wrote the question.

if it ran a long time i would guess a hardware failure (if it doesnt even show up bootloader)
so you need to replace the display.
does the display even initialize when powering up the phone?
when switching the phone on you see its "switching" from black to dark gray (lighter black as it is when powered off)
cause if it doesnt even get power, it could be something on the phone too which doesnt give (enough?) power to the display...
Yeah. but I'd take it apart if u know how just to check

Try to connect with adb just to make sure your phone is still working before you spend money on a screen. Unless it rings when you call it or something.

Back light not working on Xperia play, what do i need to change?

I just traded my mini pro for a Xperia play with no back light working and sd card not reading. Ive dismantled all of the play and put it all back together and still the same problem and i have also used SEUS to reflash the software and still no back-light. You can see the play is on, its just really hard to see and i can receive calls. Im hoping to fix this for my my girl friend as i already have one.
My main concern is the back light and then the sd i think lol also the green light comes on when charging
So do i need a new screen or can i just change a part?
Thanks
Is the screen light built in to the screen? Or could it be the proximity sensor is broke any one please
Also if I open the game pad a little bit the screen works and fully open didn't work.

Possibly a damaged ribbon cable?
That's what I think but the ribbon that connects to the screen and the keyboard is hard to get to, the only side I can get to is the side that connects to the keyboard, there's a video on YouTube but didn't show you how to take your digitizer or get the ribbon out completely.

The digitizer is not attached to the LCD and comes off with the frame. The cable goes under the LCD module and I've seen it for sale but I'm not sure if it's meant to detach from the other end. If it has a short or something, It's likely where it connects to the bottom half or where it folds anyway. Have you taken it apart and taken a look at the folding cable?
i also have the same problem.
my lcd light are off.
but my touchscreen(lcd) still working, i can make call receive call, open app and other.
but the light too dim. hardly to see anything that i click/touch on the lcd.
plssss help me out.
does i need to change the lcd? or other parts of the phone?
and where is the light on the lcd btw?
i already flash my phone. so i dont think it is software problem.
i have the same problem but have no light at all, screen self is responsive if im touching it but no backlight
please help
Solve myselft, my problem is hardware coz i flash my xperia play and it doesnt work either, so i send to shop to repair and it done, the prob could be ribbon n lcd, mine was ribbon
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
which cable?
which cable do you mean? the flex cable that goes with the slide up and down or something else on the digitizer?
as an idiot i changed the lcd but of course nothing works.. still no backlight...

[Q] Am i screwed or what

hey guys yestrerday my phone took a path for the worst
i was mad at something and so i banged my phone against the table *anger issues. Now the phone turns on but its all black screen and sometimes partially gray and partially black. I can hear the volume when i press it and the phone vibrates and rings for calls but i cant see nothing its all dark.
i assume its not a software problem...rather hardware. Did i break the screen or disconnect a ribbon from the board to the screen
i have a G2 obviously with ics
more than likely one of those options. may be hard to diagnose it until you open it up.
even then it may not be obvious if its the screen or flex cable, but im guessing its one of them.
good luck!
I opened it and found out that all the plugs/ribbons are connected.
I think the ribbon cable can have wires that are severed inside, despite the shielding still being intact.
Can it be possible that the screen is broken becuase only the screen is black i can play music because i remember where i put the widget.....so can it be the screen because i dont think its a ribbon
Both the lcd and ribbion can have the same effect. I can't tell you which one is bad on your end, but I can say that with all my years fixing slider phones it almost never is the lcd

So what ur saying is its not the screen
Can it still be the screen although i took it out and it dosent look broken, take a look:
Not saying it isn't the screen I'm just saying that it more than likley is the flex cable, harder to replace and about 35 usd vrs 20 for an lcd. Take your pick but if it were me id go flex cable

Xperia M Screen (Possibly) Broken

Hi,
I 'dropped' my phone hard on a table and now the screen doesn't show anything. I can hear the phone clicks so that works. I've tried turning it on and off etc. but no luck.
Might it be loose wire or other part?
Thanks
If the screen remains fully black when you attempt to switch it on then its likely to be a loose wire. If there is a backlight then it could be either a loose wire or a damaged LCD screen.

There is a backlight indeed. I wonder how much I can take apart myself to find out. I can't see any obvious dents or cracks etc. on the screen or casing etc. so maybe something is loose?

There is nothing wrong with the software. The OP dropped the phone onto a table, that would have caused a hardware problem.

There is no point in trying it because it is a hardware issue. The OP can hear the clicks it makes when it unlocks and they try to hear it, meaning that it boots fine and there is a working kernel. Its a hardware issue, possibly caused by the ribbon cable to the screen coming loose.

No I'm not, I'm attempting for a job as a technician though as I know how to diagnose faults and what faults are hardware and software.
I don't know everything and I'm far from perfect, I'll admit that. But with what I do know, I know it well.
Now I'm gonna leave it here cause there is no point carrying it on.

Thanks for the tips guys.
Nope, I can't see the Sony/Xperia logo.
Yeah I wondered would a cable be loose. Is it easy to take this phone apart? If not I might try claim the warranty. There is no physical damage at all.

I haven't disassembled the phone myself (I have had no need for it), however I have just watched a YouTube video and it seemed to be easy enough to disassemble and reassemble. If you look it up yourself and judge whether you wish to try yourself or not. If you have warranty from the store you bought your phone at it will more than likely cover accidental drop damage so if you don't wish to risk your phone then that would be your best option in all fairness.
Try the service manuals...
OK I opened it up and I couldn't see what the problem was. Nothing appears damanged, as expected. There are three main ribbon cables, none of them appeared loose. However, when disconnecting the mainboard from the phone case, the middle cable, which lights the LCD screen, has become fully detatched. It seems that unlike the other two cables, it connects via adhesive. I don't have thermal adhesive. When the phone turns on, now there is no backlight in addition to nothing being visible on the screen. PC Companion picks up the phone so all of that seems to be working. But no LCD and now no backlight. Unfortunately, there is evidence of me opening the phone. I doubt the warranty would be accepted now...?
In the reassembly video in document 1277-1354_Rev1 , it shows the three connectors just snapping/connecting....no glue situation.
If there is anything else I can do via home repair, what could I do? I can't be that far off, surely?
even if you don't open it, you can't file a warranty on SONY Service Centre if the damage is LCD, just buy a new LCD and replace it
Would that be the case even if I bought it locked on a network? How would they know it's the LCD if I don't say? Once before, with another smartphone, instead of listing everything I understood to the manufacturer, I told them almost nothing and got a full replacement.
