right , but i calculated the ratio of hdpi/mdpi for the same image and it was 2.25 , so that 2.25(mdpi)=hdpi , by this we can catch up some batch png file converter that respects alpha info in the pic (because most doesn't) , and then resize everything by the ratio given so that the batch would resize everything to mdpi and keeps the alpha info in the pic ! by that we could finish all the resizing in one single day , there comes the kernel and compatibilty issues including connectivity and other usual bugs ... so what do you say guys ?? for now I tried :
Imagemagick (has what we need but as the resizing is in pixels meaning we have to calculate every ratio )
Fotosizer ( it could have done it , but no respect for alpha , always replaces by white ...
Come on guys we need researchers here , this resizing project could be universal !!
EDIT !!!!!!!!!!!
Guys , i found what we needed , i will be finishing all the resizing maybe tomorrow due to school (which i will be in house at 1:30 pm [2+ GMT in my country ), and also the download here sucks so it'll take some time , for now i will be working on my project it is amazing , behold the release
@seaskyways: If you resize everything I will help you with the port. But I think it
would be easier to wait for a latest mdpi htc phone with sense 4.0
Indeed, wait a bit. They first going to port it to hdpi (desire s, sensation,...) then its our time. I dont think it will ever come to mdpi.
Devices get faster and better displays.
If sense 4 comes to mdpi, it would be a slimmed down version like the pico sense 3.5.
I will definitely try sense 4 if it will come.
Lets first wait a stable base aka cm9.
Sent from my WFS running MIUI
Actually i am offering my WFS for sale so as long as it is between my hands , as long as I will work on it , I am going to hdpi phone , most likely Neo V ...
@matt5eo : What do you use for resizing , cuz the plan in my head didn't work , and the other alternate plan which i am working on is a killer !
So guys ?? matt5eo ?? wait for an mdpi device with the sense 4.0 ?? well for now we can port basic things as the Rosie and 3D wigets ... not the whole sense , this would do the job for now ... So , anybody thumbs up for da idea ?
you can forget porting this as the apps etc wont work on are processor the htc one series are running on dual core and one model running a quad core processor
Hold on , i thought One V was single core !!

Anything is possible. Mainly for ports you want to work backwards So your looking at some smali editing for the framework apks, mainly modules (you have to use what WFS has available [based on physical hardware])... This will take the most time and where most ppl quit. Challenges of note for WFS have been Graphics (3D acceleration etc needed for ics. [best to look for advanced codexes for armv6 vfp] and the aforementioned resizing issues) and touchscreen will be your first hurdle most likely, then kernel, then custom hboot. Good luck.. not something I can even assist with at present.
Rob
Well , I am not working on the port itself , but i need some components of it , could any of the downloaders please upload me the following :
HtcLockScreen.apk
HtcClockWidget.apk
SystemUI.apk
Rosie.apk
with their odex files ??
This might help keep my projects of the Sense 4.0 patches working , I guess I can find something in there if I dug in the apks , + i have the powers and patience to port from hdpi to mdpi with correct percentages and software ... So please , I tried dowloading this thing but couldn't open it , some sort of error was popping ...
By the way , if you don't know how to extract the ROM from this RUU i can tell you , but please whoever knows please please give me the files needed ! and thanks !
HEY YOU GUYS!!!! I dont know if this can help but this is what i found about a leaked ruu from the One V http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591059
The One V is definitely single core and closer in spec, but still pretty far.
But it's probably better to wait a month or two for release of the Golf / Wildfire C as it will also have a single core processor and ICS / Sense 4, but identical screen size to the Wildfire S.

Hi!I just installed Android 2.0.1 on my Diamond with no problems at all(although the battery drains damn fast, camera and bluetooth kissed us goodbyes and GPS...wrong!)!
However, having used the Hero for a while now(I have both),I miss the Sense UI.I know I might be asking for a little too much,as it is still under development, but is there any way I can find an Android build with Sense?
Thanks in advance!

Hi
Sense isn't gonna be on the diamond for a while yet, check the main thread
If you used search, you would of found that out, please don't just make a new thread for everything
Badwolve1
has anyone had a look at THIS..i think if touch hd n rapheal can have it, we can also ( i got to the boot screen which kept looping at a lower res)
Do keep in mind that the diamonds RAM is a lot lower and the ram usage in android is not very good with the current builds..

Did you try the SensePack for Android?
Yeah,RAM is IMO the worst aspect of the diamond...192?What is that? That's not only an android problem!WinMo also has issues with lack of RAM,especially 6.5!
And btw the reason why I created this thread was that I couldn't find a satisfying answer to my question!
Anyway,I tried aHome Lite(full version and GDE are paid and currently not available here in Greece) and it crashed like ****.It only popped the well known message that the process ahome.blah blah blah is not responding.
A question I'd like to ask is whether it actually runs ON WinMo or is WinMo closing before Android boots?Anyway the ****ty amount of RAM makes it annoying whatever the case is!

I got to the main screen of Sense Hero..
1 - changed startup.txt : mtype to 1805
2 - i took the zimage from latest eclair (Keep the same if you want to)
3 - while booting it got stuck to HTC shiny screen so i deleted the Swapfile and tried...it booted up but PATIENCE is what we need. it takes a longtime and too much of Lag.
lets keep trying it...Best of luck!
There are android phones with the same amount of ram as the diamond (ie. galaxy/spica). So it should do fine but the build is just an early alpha . Patience patience..
Nickschot I hope you're right! It's such a nice phone! Why would it get stuck with WinMo 6.1(because 6.5 isn't it's thing) and get no attention?
Anyway...Will try Sensepack...Be back for report!
Well...First off it's laggy and buggy as **** and using it really needs patience! However as I see that's because of Sense...Is there any way to disable it?It appears to be working better than bare android...

Yes Data and sensepack gets created .... Yes it came in as a fullscreen but it was too laggy so decided to put a hold on to it...will stick to Android Eclair testing as of now...
I suppose I too will stick with Eclair(vanilla) cause sense messes things up really much...Right now, except for unbearable lagging and countless bugs Sense doesn't support fullscreen so you have to turn it off,Wi-Fi doesn't work(unlike vanilla Eclair which has a pretty much normal connection) and many things cause Android to reset. So I came to think...Android is really nice and functional without Sense!
However,is there any way to port Hero's look to the diamond?Without Sense crap.As long as the device is recognised as the Hero it seems to work better, more smoothly and fluid...Plus I love the black menus!

Try Panda Home from Market Place and search for Hero Theme.....
Dude...I didn't know about panda home!It kicks ass!And it's really light!Less lag!And to think I was stuck with aHome Lite as my home replacement...Of course aHome full and GDE(?) must be better, however there are no paid apps available for Greece yet!
Hi guys.
You may be aware that cdma heros have an alpha release sense rom (DecaFX) ported from the wildfire. Now so do we!
I spent a short time porting the cdma rom to our gsm heros. (Its a raw port, nothing removed from the cdma version). So Its buggy, just like the cdma version, but it works.
Link to the cdma release:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795444
This is based on floyo (mainly to get hardware working), so credits to floyo's author, erasmux, and also to those over in cdma who did the port from wildfire in the first place.
So what works in this:
Not alot on user testing
What doesnt:
Wifi
gsm
data
probaly loadsa other stuff too
Whats buggy:
Everything software wise i suppose - Massive graphical glitches
Link:
Hotfile: http://hotfile.com/dl/76229102/3c67210/SenseFroyoghurt.zip.html
Rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/42539581...Froyoghurt.zip
Megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L5H0G7SS
Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?jq1ivp6st6cdd1p
NOTE: I dont really have any intent to update this rom myself, other than perhaps based on updates from the cdma release (assuming they dont mind), but its here to provide a working release for anyone who wants to try it.
FINALLY: Although this rom is entirely safe and shouldnt brick your phone (it contains nothing that can cause a brick) i take no responsibility if it damages your phone.
AWESOME. Have to try. Waited so long for Sense 2.2
cool! downloading now (WOW that's a crappy slow hosting service hahaha)
I must try this, I like the name lol
i'll try it now thanx man hope more than one version
anyone running it yet? I'm still nandroiding my old rom...
Would love to give my opinion but I still have two days left on the download! lol

holy graphical layout issues batman!
but VERY cool to finally see some updates to sense after all this time
even if they're not aligned quite right in many places.
major issue. wifi doesn't work (known issue in cdma thread), but can't go into apn list either - it FCs in my settings. so no data, which means no anything.
oh well, it's still very cool to see the improvements to sense!
I wish the bloody sense rosie home app would do screen rotation though... you KNOW they can do it faster than vanilla android launchers can because it's been working great in slide ports forever.
silly htc
My Feedback :
Really good work but there are alot of problms in homepage the menu icon above the phone icon and numbers in the dialer just 1 2 4 5 7 8 * 0 and in the setup there is a problem to in the size of font and screen size i mean the skip and back icons doesn't showing correctly
a big problem there is no network for my gsm ( Just No Service ) and when i go to the network options and choosing the mobile network i got FC ( force close )
thats all thing i tried hope to fix it
Big sry for my English hope u understand me !!!!
broken camera doesn't work tooooooooooooooo bad
Can anyone upload a mirror? Still have 23hrs left on my download.
The adaption of the newly released VegaComb / honeycomb 3.0 for our tegra2 brothers (advent vega and Adam) and is getting to a state where its usable and the latest alpha4 release for Vega is working quite well on Folio100 as well. with a few modifications of course...
I cannot take full credits for the intensive work done on this honeycomb 3.0 , that is primarily done by NotionInk Adam and Advent Vega developers , which are: MrGuy , newbe5 , corvus , HomerSp I added some kernel changes and image adjustments to support A7.
Download A7Comb 0.2a patch update here
installs like any other "Update.zip", rename the downloaded file to Update.zip
Download A7Comb 0.2 full image update here
installs like any other "Update.zip" (extract the Update.zip from this downloaded zip file) and make sure you "wipe" / factory reset.
Alternate kernel, with original softkeys enabled can be downloaded here
this is also used when you change density setting to 130, so you get the "gingerbread" launcher running instead.
Rename this download to Update.zip and copy directly to sdcard. no unpacking for this is required.
So what is status on a7 port.
- Wifi works, you need to reboot the first you enable it, and it will scan correctly.
- touchscreen seems 100% ok. (did not test multitouch apps)
- Adobe Flashplayer blank (just keep pressing upper left corner like normal to get fullscreen and it works)
- too many apps in the apps list makes them go outside screen.. one solution might be to change density. see build.prop and maybe try 110 instead of the current 120.
You can write whatever status or reported finding, but please check, its not already in the advent/vega issue list, as it share alot with their image.
I will do what is possible to bring it to a better state, but i cannot promise anything and maybe patches from vega/adam might actually work on A7 depending on what they change. (if its a patch)
v0.2a
- Increased 2d/3d performance
- polaris office fixes
- brightness control fix
v0.2 updates
- using newest updates from VegaComb (Gmail and other googleapps now shows correctly)
- Market can now be used for login with an Googleaccount.
reserved for me
I did get bigrushdog to take a look into making us a kernel he is the one who has been working on them for the xoom.
And its online.
Thanks for HC dexter I am testing it now...
Been playing with it for a few hours. touch on the screen is hit or miss at best. Market is a non-starter. Titanium Backup is crashing every other app install. Unable to load Amazon App Store anymore (just stuck in a non-ending registering cycle) But on a good note looks great in landscape, Portrait not so much. Wifi started right up after restart and found my network just fine. Will play a little bit more.
Google Apps working now!!
Ill post the new image later on.. and "Books" now stays (was automatically removed before)
Had to revert back to 1.42, no soft key work. Will wait for new update..

softkeys disabled.. Honeycomb do not use them anymore
Look at the bottom left, thats your control buttons.. thats pretty much what as example "motorola xoom with honeycomb 3.0" looks like now.. so its no error , i disabled those on purpose..
problem is that you got half the screen size of a "certified" tablet, so not much room for pressing buttons and resolutions very low.. so you're missing alot due to the lack of space.. and thats pretty much why A7 is never getting a proper honeycomb when minimum requirements are 1280x800
Soft keys were removed If I had read correctly due to the fact HC has them and dex seen no reason to have two of them. I like the idea of not having them means you don't have to worry about hitting them on accident

no, i used StreamTVNetwork's released source from their website..
you cannot use other devices unless you once again try to adapt the drivers to the kernel, which is a big one, since no one did, you can imagine how much work it takes..
you modifiy the existing kernel you got for your device, which the git changes where possible into your existing code, and update where it requiress it.
So we could maybe get the 1.5Ghz update, but im not sure if i can extract and diff it so we can implement into the a7 kernel.
I wasn't meaning did you use that kernel. I guess I could have been a bit clearer. What I meant was seeing how that kernel is adapted to be used with HC could that be off benefit to a dev for our a7. Using it as a guide to some degree
This may be a silly question but...with a dedicated gpu could not the ROM resolution actually be resized to fit the A7? I mean this is not a case of trying to increase resolution (at its native resolution you can't get more than it can reproduce) but down converting it. In other words (This may be a bad example) a standard 720p television that can receive a 1080p signal but down-converts it to 720p.

with the next update, im uploading in some hours you can use Market, then download the "Density" app, which can change density (not resoluion) but everything becomes smaller and its harder to hit the soft buttons in lower left side, so you know (as i tried it)

i can almost say 100% Bluetooth will never work on this rom!
so don't wait for it, then you can start looking for a new tablet with 3.0

no, basically a7 is stuck on in 2.2. a 2.3 release still require a formal 2.6.36. kernel which vendors do not adapt drivers for, so if any 2.3 arrive, it will be like this one, using a 2.6.32.9 kernel. maybe with a few patches upto 2.6.32.34 or so, but still using the old drivers vendors delivered..
the guys found out several "libs" of 40MB+ were not needed at all, so i removed them as well..
Weird, Upon first install i recived " Installation aborted" Due to some E:Can't find entry for META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary. Any ideas? Trying install again from fresh download.
Update: No go 2nd time around..... ?
Hello boys and girls,
Thanks to Scooter1556 Michga and MaRekRM I am now able to do some porting (well, actually it is more of a copy/paste venture) on the GINGERBREAD roms of other HTC phones, like the HTC Wildfire and HTC Hero. The files I posted in this thread are only for the gingerbread builds and don't work for the other versions of Android. Since this is porting on your own, I can't possibly know what does and doesn't work for you. But just to give an example I never have gotten the wifi working.
These files are just taken from Scoot's latest android build:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8992815/xda/porting/Copy/paste.zip
Be sure to remove all the files in the original build first, EXCEPT the files in the permission folder. You just need to add the files which are present in the paste folder, but not present in the system folder you are porting.
And as always I am not responsible if you break/brick your phone (I do advise using the haret method when you're purely experimenting with different roms)
**And if you find a nice rom combination for our kaiser, then don't feel ashamed to post the combi**
Also if you find a better way of which files to port, then please post your improvement. And if your find other devices from which we can port the roms, also post them
Have fun!!
**I advise using 7zip, http://www.7-zip.org/, when unpacking and repacking the system folder!**
Hi,
It's great that someone interested yet in the Android on Kaiser project.
I'm installed scoot's latest ROM some days ago. It's mostly stable enough (not perfect but really, really not as bad), fast and smooth for me with 500Mhz OC setup, and have a nice position in benchmarks also.
But I have some problems (like the total lack of power saving), and I have a little time to check it out if I can do something to fix or optimize something. So I'm glad that the CM7 project is living yet on the forum.
Well, so as I see the kernel itself is the bigger problem in porting, because of the oldish Kaiser specific drivers. Are these drivers in my current install is compiled from source (and if yes are these have a downloadable source), or collectible from other devices, or we have to stick to 2.6.32 kernels and use these binaries what we have now? I'll thank some of your helpful experiences shared in this topic.
What else... it's a bit late here, let me see if we can progress in the topic, it would be great if the porting would be open for everyone who want to participate.
Steve
I am sorry if I gave you the wrong idea, but I am really quite a noob on android development, my knowledge is really limited. I am just able to read the given tutorials and I am able to google my problems, but it is not like I actually know something.
The original source for the package which I posted in this thread is, I should have mentioned befor, given in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996431
I just followed the instructions in this thread and also got help from MaRekRM in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382722
But that's all I know, I hope that a actual developer notices your question, but although I really want to be helpfull, I can't. Due to my limited knowledge.
**I just posted this thread to make it easier to port for other, who didn't feel like searching for the aforementioned thread**
Thank you hom.hom. Yes, these posts help me a lot. I see the basic strategie behind the porting. I made some research today around the possibilites.
The problem is that the Kaiser have MSM7200 CPU, and devices based on this version only shipped with windows mobile. Android only installed on MSM7200A, which is nearly the same CPU. I think the only difference is the increased speed. At least, as I see in the specifications. So now I'm collecting anything Android related stuff from devices based on MSM7200A.
I also managed to get the CM version of the HTC Hero and HTC Wildfire to boot, so it is not only the msm7200 processor. I think you might even be able to also port the msm72xx proc.'s to the htc kaiser. Also the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 pro has roughly the same specs so you might even give that one a roll.
And if you find a nice rom out there in the other forums, you can just post them here.
And glad to be a help!
Re
Hi
Thanks.
That long time ago when we discussed about it i successfuly made a sense rom for kaiser.. i think it could be too on SD and on mobile (sry, i forgot name of this first option in install menu) it was slow, but not too much.. With little more tweaks and upgrades it will be usable.. and it was stable..
It was too for 320x240 so ther wasnt any problem with resolution
Unfortunately, somehow i lost it.. (maybe i deleted it, i dont know) and i tried it again many times but nothing.. worse is i dont know which model exactly was (i mean wildfire,hero,....)
i did it with same steps as you wrote..
Now Im iSheep.. So i dont working on it yet..
I think now cannot be ported ICS because we havent any ICS kernel for iphone.. Latest is GB
Hey and i forgot for something..
I made ports from:
MyTouch 3G
Hero
Tattoo
Wildfire
So good luck and i believe here will be more ports..

I think you can make a hero-based rom.. In "Kaiser and. dev. forum" are some roms based on hero.. but there is a little problem with resolution.. default is 320x480.. but somehow if i remember, can be ported to QVGA (320x240).. So try it
hello developers,
i had an idea and a request
why not you guys work on other custom roms to make them compatible for WFS????
its a good idea coz there are many cool Roms out there...
like Xperia, walkman series rom, acer got a cool rom too....even Dell got a cool looking GUI
people have different tastes....CM7.2 is a simply great rom....but people may not like the GUI
sense GUI is faar better than CM7.2
why not developers work on custom roms from other android phones?? ))
that will be great ^___^
plz dont consider my post as spam..i just suggested this thing....starting a poll ...if people will like my idea they'll support it..
i dont know if i'm the only one to love the custom rom's GUi o.o
+
There is another request...
in market(public market not android market)
windows mobile 7 is quite popular these days...
why not developers work on windows mobile 7 OS compatible for WFS
since unlocking boot loader = we can install all the OS
being an WFS developer and WFs user we should have many options
like i said everyone have different tastes...who knows who likes what?
users should have many options in there hand like what to install.....
you cant because of different hardware configurations and kernel. its like porting sense to samsung which cant be done. next time post in general section.
If you're just looking for GUI. download launchers like launcher 7, go launcher ex.. something like that.

if possible u go ahead and start work don't give these types of ideas
Mindhexer is right. Good dream though. Get you a HD2 if you want a windows &/or android phone; although, porting to android may knock out your volume toggle :/ honestly very very hard to port to a new os, but you'd have a slightly easier time of it going from open source to open source [ie hp touchpad; and that's not easy by any means]. Basically you will have to find in many cases drivers that work or have a decompiler [thousands of $] and a lot of programming knowledge [and free time]. Simply not feasible for our device; even though, I love to say anything is possible; I'd bite my tongue, hope you were Richie Rich, and point you toward some brilliant dev teams; Again though, you'd probably have another device that started windows [definately closed sources] and got ported over. I have yet to see one go the other way and it would probably open the door to legal issues to attempt :S So, in short, nope.

hmmmmmm...i just thought it would be a good ides coz i saw a video on youtube.....his Xperia X8 was running Htc sense......
o.o
Xperia is overrated man. [IMHO]
Use your lovely phone while you can, like the other hundreds of us.
Its not possible to do any of those ports. End of story
I do wanted WP7 on my WFS but our phone doesnt clear few minimum specs..........we could use the WP7 port of the HD2 but because of the difference in the processor(and the shipped OS)....only an EXTREMELY TALENTED dev can accomplish this feat
BTW,we can try ubuntu can we???

yes correct, end of story.
Possibility to use launchers themes looks like WP or Xperia.
If its just the looks, just use some launcher, there are many themes/skins... or make them yourself, its far easier than doing what u suggested, and it would be too much job for something that is not that big from my point of view.

you cant because of different hardware configurations and kernel. its like porting sense to samsung which cant be done. next time post in general section.

Pretty sure they ported Android 2.2 to the Samsung Omnia II (Windows 7 mobile)...
Maybe i'm going to make a CyanUX for the WFS ;-) (CyanogenMOD / Sony mix)
I will maybe make MIUI for WFS (based on CM7, fully themed, debloated and lots of MIUI apps).
Anything is possible, but porting one rom to a different phone is a never ending battle. Beside the the only real benefit would be a performance port, gui can be accomplish as mentioned in above post. If you really want to see this happen pick your favorite dev and put him or her on payroll, truthfully they should be getting paid for the work their doing now.

For Xperia Sony style, you dont need a whole new rom.
Two things, and cm7 will look totally different:
Xperia Launcher
Xperia Theme, install and choose it from the theme chooser app
Hope this helps, click thanks!

MIUI will take a lot of GUI resize work, I think. But can be done.
Best to wait for latest MIUI release with ICS after CM9 is ported by the WFSDEV guys.
No resizing needed for miui, I use cm7 and theme it and add miui apps which are ported and confirmed working.
For CM9, I'm part of the devteam, and it will take some time for a working cm9.
The "real" MIUI will never come to WFS, due to hardware (screen and cpu).
I have to say it isn't that great in all the aspects either.
There aren't many languages supported, you dont have the cyanogenmod settings and its sometimes slow and battery hungry.
The best I think is to combine the power of cm7 with the beauty of MIUI.
